I just had to zero in on the enboldened line because of how far from the truth it is especially in societies where women have been supposedly empowered by legislation like the no fault divorce. Replace the word younger in that line with richer and the pattern becomes even more apparent.

While you may find it hard to believe so there are many men who are totally sold on the idea of the Disney-styled approach to relationships and marriage. In just going with their hearts they fall under the impression, or delusion even, that they have found/will find their own special snowflake.

I'm not married but I used to think like that at one point myself. Thank the heavens that I have come to a better understanding. On my occasional excursions on social media when I come across photos of old flames from my university days I'm filled with feelings of gratitude walahi, e for rough for my side.

It's really disgusting. What is not surprising is the effort on this thread to downplay the gravity of this extreme form of the movement.

So far from the behaviour of many of its proponents there are only two types of feminism: bad and worse. This Freebleed variety along with its sister Free-The-N!pples and SlutWalking arms being easily classed under the worse type.

When people say they identify with the feminist movement I'm almost certain they are nary aware of what they are choosing to associate with.

All of this operates on a limbic, organic level. It is this behaviour that informs part of the social conventions and cultures that we have around us.

The fact which Oga TV mentioned that women are strategic in relationship matters is one that rings true every time. There is no woman who is not on some level subject to the workings of hypergamy. Indeed even the fairy tale notion of love, or romantic love as some people are appealing to here, plays to the very strengths of this strategy. It provides the perfect cover for the feminine imperative to achieve its objective with the least amount of resistance because it requires it's subject to remain unaware of its calculations in the name of waiting for true magical love.

Today, for long term relationships and marriages a man who understands the mechanics at work and what is required of him stands the best chance of benefiting from it. It is this reason that "just follow your heart" can be quite a dangerous thing to do.

This understanding has to be acquired because what used to work in the past - traditions and conventions that made accommodations for these realities - are dying or being pushed to into irrelevance.

The topics under discussion here, at least the most recent ones I've seen, are directed specifically to men but because this is an open forum there is a tendency that many will refute it as it goes against the popular modern day conditioning that most of us are steeped in... but it's a beautiful thing to see that men (albeit a few) are beginning to awake.

I think it's not just about becoming "settled" as we like to put it here in Naija. The advice, which I also support, that men are better off marrying in their 30s or later, than in their 20s (to much younger woman of course) is stemmed to the fact that the man would have accrued more social capital and value, which is an important trigger for female attraction, than when he was in his 20s.

Even if he graduates from school early and lands a job in his mid 20s, in many instances he would still be working in an entry to mid level position for a few more years. It is later in his 30s that his position and status becomes much more pronounced. It is also assumed that he acquires an even better sense of judgment, he knows where he is going with his life - basically with age comes the quality of maturity that women quickly pickup on.

There are some interesting articles out there about how men's sexual marketplace value starts to peak in his 30s, would share them here if I could lay hands on them now...
