OP must be a joker. |
OP might be a Tecno staff. The level of FUD in this thread is beyond amazing. One can only suspect what drives people like the OP to embark on a dedicated quest to spread misinformation like this, there is almost certainly a financial incentive somewhere. |
Shymm3x:Jay Rock's album is available? Now that's something, I've been waiting for something new from him for quite sometime now, he's about the only TDE yet to make a recent offering. Hopefully this is good. |
jaybee3:No doubt with what you are saying. Elections generate certain levels of uncertainty in economic sectors. Thing is in our case this uncertainity has gained enough momentum to push the economy into near recession because the new leadership has done little or nothing since assuming power to quell the markets. Citing the change of power as the reason for this downturn is no longer an excuse as there has been ample time to initiate and implement policies that generate positive growth. |
ElFenomeno1:Read the OP again including the title. Nigeria MAY slide into recession as economic indicators flash red. Nigeria is not in recession. |
PassingShot:Who had the expectation that the change in government would lead to marked decline - negative growth as the paper puts in - in the nation's economy? Is this a regular occurrence in other nations when a new party comes into power that the nation experiences near recession? I get your position, you are rationalising this downturn as normal and expected so as not to make the new leadership lose face. |
jaybee3:Word! |
Kimoni:Ah, the issue that the edited line in your post addressed in Carrin's story is what drew my attention. The fact that she - or maybe it was the writer - identified immediately with her vocations as a yoga practitioner, a writer and only later, as though as an after thought, as a mother seemed improper to me. Regarding this matter of helping around the house I think a clear understanding of what roles each partner plays combined with reasonable expectations will bring about a harmonious solution for married couples. There is this growing push for men to be more involved in household chores and from a distance it's all fair and reasonable. It is on closer observation where I find that the reason for this push is predicated on the idea that the partners in marriage are co-equals and that their roles are androgynous in nature. I think it's this type of outlook that sets the stage for many kinds of domestic problems. One of the attributes of the husband is that he is the provider and though modern times have compelled women to play this role to varying degrees I will not go into marriage with the expectation of the woman's (financial) contribution. Ergo where the woman is complaining that she is overwhelmed by household chores because she trying to make ends meet I see it as a failure on the part of the man. Having said that, as an individual I personally do not shy away from chores. I am the type that derives a certain pleasure in seeing my personal environment and things clean and well placed so doing what it takes to make them so is not a problem for me. |
Carrin Jade is a lawyer, a yoga teacher, a freelance writer and — in her spare time — a mother to two young children.Something ain't right https://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/suspicious-nod-yes.gif |
What happens when the child will cry for a pony or an aeroplane? Will there be more breakdowns? Many many people have grown up as single children and lived fulfilling lives. It is not a defect. Some ladies just get carried away with their emotions it's amazing. |
Its either you people are all joking or you somehow fail to see how very ridiculous this all looks. It appears there is no length that the feminine imperative (in conjuction with emasculated men) under its solipsistic drive will not go to secure its survival. I mean, in a bid to ensure that it's source of welfare, provisioning, familial support and protection is securely dedicated to the itself, it even goes as far as trying to condition, if not control, the way the man should behave in the office in the presence of its would be competitors i.e single women. Surely you people must see the hilarity of this very obvious attempt at mate guarding. The man must advertise his wedding ring to constantly remind competitors that his provisioning functions have already been claimed. He must not hold prolonged eye contact lest he succumbs to the powerful wiles of single ladies. He must place a photo of his wife on his desk so they know who he belongs to. Etc ![]() Hahahaha. The sheer desperation of all the points is beyond funny. Anyway a smart man is one who knows how to use this desperation to keep his wife on her A-game for the enjoyment of the marriage. The emasculated man is the one that will not only follow these instructions to the letter but will go out of his way find new ways to assure his wife that her position as recepient of all his provisioning is unchallenged. |
TV01:What you are referring to here is an ideal state that many a modern day man cannot relate to. As you noted for many generations now, identifying with and qualifying for the woman's love has been seen as the defacto standard of romance and intimacy by many men. We are conditioned from our earliest days to strive towards earning the woman's approval, encouraged by the media, arts and society many many men grow up internalising this belief that they are to continually pursue and lose themselves in the woman's love. With the current state of affairs how many men will be able to grasp it when you say that it is women who lose themselves in the love of a man? With the growing ascendancy of the feminine imperative how many men will understand what you mean? I'm sure you know that men are the true romantics. We are the ones that drive romance for the woman, the man is the one that invests emotionally in the idea that a woman will love him for himself - and yet strives (sometimes all of his life) to earn this love that is supposedly unconditional. How is such a man to come to terms with the fact that his pursuit of the woman's love is not the best course he should take? |
Black Swan by Nicolas Taleb. One of my favourite contemporary philosophers. |
Dayum!! That's my spot. I usually go there on Friday afternoons. Guess I'll have to find some other place now then, it's just that I don't like the other Jevinik in Wuse 2, that place is always crowded like a market. This was the only Jevinik restaurant where I could finish whatever I ordered. I always found their portions smaller than what was served in other branches, but bigger than most non-Jevink restaurants. Great food though. It's a pity. |
Orikinla:The report is misleading. He was caught with €4.6m cash, it's Naira equivalent being N1bn. The man would need several trucks to haul N1billion cash. I would even dare to say that very few banks actually have that amount of physical Naira in their vaults. |
OldJohn:Y'all killing me with this body language ish. ![]() |
Gejpresident: ChaiGood bye. Don't ever come back, Africa needs to get rid of those who are not committed to the development of the continent. |
handie:Wonderful. An opportunity to invest and acquire wealth which you can use to meet a vast range of your material needs (data and airtime inclusive) is of no concern to you? |
^ Your review is like a year late though. |
I've always been curious as to how Christains interpret those verses. (1 Timothy 2:11-12) Funny how many say that those verses are Paul's opinions and are not from the Creator but in other matters the same opinions of Paul are taken as divine edicts. It all smacks of intellectual dishonesty if you ask me. |
I believe a woman's highest vocation does not lie in marriage, and neither does it lie in a professional career. It is something that is to be found when she makes use of that ennobling power which her Creator has endowed her with - it is spiritual. That this idea sounds strange to people today is an indication of how limited the sphere of our understandings have become. I think all these efforts to find total validation for the woman in marriage or worse still in a professional career is a disservice to her true essence. Marriage and motherhood are all sacred canons, it is completely foolish to deride them or deem them irrelevant in place of a career, but the woman's highest function is on a much higher level. |
yetseyi:Eziokwu? Make we hear word. ![]() In real life any guy who does that will draw the same response a woman gives when she sees a cute puppy. She'll go, "awwww, isn't that sweet." Then she'll friendzone puppy boy. ![]() When you see ladies fawning and screeming their heads off for celebs like say Burnaboi it's the social proof and dazzle of his status that is their trigger. I can bet you Burnaboi himself would have noticed a significant spike in the number of girls he can pull since he attained stardom. In his pre-fame days all his serenading would have gone unnoticed by the ladies. |
yetseyi:Hahahahaha! Don't mind Shymm3x, he doesn't know that a man serenading a women with whatever song is already seen as a form of displaying low value. Very un-alpha thing to do. That's the kind of ish the "sweet guys" will do in real life and wonder why they don't get the girls. |
troy20:You make a very good point. It's a sad world where the role of fathers in a child's life is deemed optional and non vital, unfortunately that's the direction the so called modern world is heading in. On account of the fact that women can now hold their own financially, many women fall for the grave error that they can raise optimal and well balanced children on their own. All of the evidence that points to the contrary that we have around us somehow goes unnoticed. I mean, take a look at the black community in North America where absent fathers and baby mamas are prevalent (granted a lot of the women are economically disadvantaged to begin with), the children from those kinds arrangement face more difficulties and are the worst performers under virtually any indices used. Marriage is not the highest calling for the woman I agree, that lies in her engaging her unique spiritual nature but marriage is the best construct to enjoy a long term relationship and raise children in this world. |
freecocoa:Yes. Many women do this. |
freecocoa:Okay I don't even understand your point here. |
bukatyne: ![]() No need for proverbs. ![]() I'm waiting for the day for you ladies to prove me wrong but I know that I'd be long gone before then. Why is it that women, married and single, are usually at the frontline of the group that downplays the importance of sexuality in relationship matters? Eh? It's also these women who will quickly echo the canard that age is just a number or that it's only whats on the inside that should matter. Here is the hard truth: In all the lofty ideals and qualities that men require in a mate her sexuality plays a very important part. By this I mean the woman's ability to arouse or excite him on a physical level with her body, presence and behaviour, I'm not referring to sexual prowress, waywardness or the likes which you somehow are conflating here. Her body, appearance, looks - her sexual desirability is critical. Any other talk that asserts otherwise is coming from a place of dishonesty or deception because it is without question that men are, amongst other things, visually driven creatures. I suspect that women try to deny if not downplay this fact when they don't measure up or are facing the decline of this particular agency in themselves. |
ronald4lif:Interesting to say the least. This study does indeed state that married couples have no significant advantage over cohabiting couples in terms of happiness and self esteem. It is however important to note that the study (the only one of it's kind from your links) only focuses on a 6 year span for cohabiting couples - indeed the researchers agree that long term cohabiting couples are a rarity. Also the study does not take into consideration the welfare of children and how they fare viz-a-viz a married or cohabiting arrangement. I think there is no arrangement that trumps marriage when the totality of all the components that stem from the long term relationship between a man and woman is considered. |
ronald4lif:Please direct my attention to any one research that says cohabitation is better than marriage. https://www.reactiongifs.com/r/dgbg.gif |
bukatyne:Hmmm, did you mean wayward/loose when you said bukatyne:Because that's what I was responding to. Usually I find that it is people (mostly women) who do not measure up to the perceived archetypes of physical attraction that downplay the importance of sexuality. Not saying you do o, but any man true to himself will admit that those specific attributes he finds attractive in women as a whole is what he wants in his wife. PS: who is Iya Silifa? ![]() |
bukatyne:Interesting. I maintain that any man who does not consider his wife's sexual availability and desirability as a primary factor is being dishonest with himself. It is not the only factor but it is one of the important ones. |
