Gbawe: Do not be fooled. This clown is the one of the biggest bigots on Nairaland !!! Should I show you where he writes that Igbos are "ambitious", plus everything good under the Sun, while Yorubas are "weak/timid" and everything negative despite this being wicked lies reality, at no stage, has ever supported? Do you want me to reveal a thread where two Unilag Girls (during the GEJ MAULAG misadventure) wore T-shirts with wrong spelling and this clown was quick to knock "Yoruba illiteracy" when no one wrote Yoruba on the forehead of the girls?lol... I guessed I was fooled then or maybe he has turned a new leaf |
Wow... this is very insightful. As Yoruba man with many igbo friends I can't fault most of the points this piece. However there are/were some rich Yoruba men Like MKO that that belongs to the 'poor' generation, but still became rich. This is what we should be getting on Nairaland. Not the usual Yorubas are cowards and Igbos are drug dealers BS. Let's appreciate ourselves and learn about our differences. Peace. |

They attribute all actions and comments from Northerners to APC, When PDP obviously controls most of the states in the North. |

Gareth Bale joins Real Madrid from Spurs in £85m world record deal Real Madrid have broken the world transfer record to sign Tottenham forward Gareth Bale. The Wales star has agreed a £300,000 per week, six-year deal after sealing an £85.3m (100m euros) move which eclipses the £80m Real paid Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009. "I have had six very happy years at Tottenham but it's the right time to say goodbye," said 24-year-old Bale. "We've had some special times together and I've loved every minute of it." He added: "I am not sure there is ever a good time to leave a club where I felt settled and was playing the best football of my career to date. "I know many players talk of their desire to join the club of their boyhood dreams, but I can honestly say, this is my dream come true. "Tottenham will always be in my heart and I'm sure this season will be a successful one for them. "I am now looking forward to the next exciting chapter in my life, playing football for Real Madrid." His representatives told Spurs at the end of July that he wanted to speak to the Spanish giants. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti's claim at the start of August that they were "in talks to find a solution" to the transfer angered Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas, but the clubs have now reached a settlement. After his side's 1-0 loss to Arsenal, Villas-Boas said: "Bale is a wonderful player. He is going to join Real Madrid so we wish him all the best. "He left us with some great memories from last season." Bale, who becomes Real Madrid's fifth signing of the summer, paid tribute to both Southampton and Tottenham for developing his career. He said: "I am well aware I would not be at the level I am today were it not for firstly Southampton and then Spurs standing by me during some of the tougher times and affording me the environment and support they have. "I would like to thank everyone at the club: the chairman, board, staff, coaches and players, and, most of all, the fantastic fans who I hope will understand this amazing career opportunity." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23538218 |
Chelsea have signed Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o on a free transfer from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala. The 32-year-old joins the Premier League team on a one-year-deal. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was Eto'o's boss at Inter Milan when they won the Champions League in 2010. "It wasn't a hard decision. I saw the qualities Chelsea have, and I was very happy with Jose Mourinho before, so when the opportunity came, I was very happy to take it," Eto'o said. "I am very happy to be here but also anxious because I want to get playing as soon as possible." Mourinho moved for Eto'o after two Chelsea bids for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney were rejected. Earlier this week, it emerged Rooney was not prepared to force a move by handing in a formal transfer request, effectively ending the Blues's hopes of signing the England striker. Four-time African Footballer of the Year Eto'o was a key part of Mourinho's Champions League-winning Inter side, and became the highest-paid player in the world when he moved to Anzhi in 2011. The Russian club have also sold Brazil attacking midfielder Willian, 25, to Chelsea after their billionaire owner Suleyman Kerimov decided to significantly reduce the club's budget. Eto'o started his career at Real Madrid but was loaned out to Leganes and Real Mallorca before making a permanent move to Mallorca in 1999. The striker, part of the Cameroon team that lifted the African Nations Cup in 2002, won the Copa del Rey before joining Barcelona in 2004 . During his time at the Nou Camp, he won the Champions League twice - in 2006 and 2009 - scoring in both finals, as well as winning the Spanish league three times. In 2009, Barcelona paid Inter Milan £40m plus Eto'o for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the striker went on to win the Champions League again in his first season under Mourinho at the San Siro. He joined Anzhi, where he reportedly earned £167,825 a week, in 2011 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23873089 http://sportshandler..co.uk/2013/08/chelsea-have-completed-signing-of.html |
Arsenal have re-signed Mathieu Flamini, according to information on the Club's website. The 29-year-old midfielder earlier played for Arsenal from 2004 to 2008 and made 153 appearances for the club before joining AC Millan as a free agent. The signing of the Frenchman meas Arsenal have spent a whooping sum of £0.00 on two players this summer. Information on www.arsenal.com reads: "A tenacious and combative midfielder, Flamini was an integral part of the Arsenal team which reached the Champions League final in 2006 and also helped the Club win the FA Cup in 2005. During the run to the Paris final in 2006, Flamini showed his versatility by playing as a left back for much of the campaign, becoming part of an Arsenal defence that racked up a record 10 consecutive clean sheets in the Champions League. During his time in Milan, Flamini made 122 overall appearances for the Rossoneri, winning a Serie A title and the Supercoppa Italiana in 2011. He featured a total of 22 times for AC Milan last term. Having come to the end of his contract with AC Milan at the end of last season, Flamini had been maintaining his fitness at London Colney this summer." "We’re very pleased Mathieu has agreed to re-join us," Arsène Wenger said. "He is a player of real quality, with a fantastic work rate and great mentality. As we know, Mathieu is a strong midfielder, but is also is comfortable playing in defence too. He is a very good addition to our squad. http://www.sportshandler..co.uk/ |
peckhamboi: They were singing and dancing because a Yoruba laid down his precious life for an Ibo man and they still have the effrontery to insult the Yorubas.Well don't be surprised at their insults and hatred, it's just simple inferiority complex. I'm sure if Fajuyi was Igbo and Ironsi Yoruba, the noise will be all over the place. But unfortunately, an igbo man can NEVER do what Fajuyi did, even their highly esteemed hero could not do that for his own kinsmen. He bravely fled the battlefield. |

Ed Miliband has been pelted with eggs on his first public appearance in weeks as he attempted to reboot the Labour party. The Labour leader was campaigning in London when a volley of eggs was thrown at his back. At least one hit the politician on the head and jacket as he visited East Street market in Walworth, south London. The egg thrower, who gave his name as Dean Porter, said it was an "opportunistic moment" as he was led away by security. "They should stop giving favouritism to the banks. They do nothing. The Government do nothing. The shadow government do nothing," he said. "I don't believe him at all. If you are poor, you are considered a burden. All they care about is the banks." An aide hurriedly removed Mr Miliband's jacket and he continued his tour, chatting to shoppers and stallholders apparently unperturbed. "This is not the first time it's happened to me, I'm sure it's not the last," he said. "I'm always looking for new ways to connect with the voters." Mr Porter had earlier written on Twitter: "Watch the news tonight. I suspect I might be on it." He later wrote: "I tried to egg Ed Milliband as he came down to East Street in southwark, watching the news to see if its on." Minutes later, he sent a message to the Prime Minister saying: "@David_Cameron hi pleb, can you come to East Street Market so I can egg you like I've egged your chum @Ed_Miliband lol." He also wrote: "I got the b*****!!! Lol." The incident distracted from the Labour leader's attempts to galvanise his party after a difficult summer and attack the coalition over the cost of living. Senior figures have questioned the shadow cabinet's "deafening silence" and warned the party must "shout louder" or face electoral defeat in 2015. The jitters have been compounded by a rise in Tory fortunes thanks to a string of data suggesting the British economy is at last turning the corner. New figures on Wednesday showed unemployment fell by 4,000 between April and June and average earnings rose by 2.1% in the year to June. On Tuesday, data revealed inflation fell to 2.8% in July and house prices rose by 3.1% in June and last month growth of 0.6% was given for the second quarter. Mr Miliband dismissed the criticism from within Labour's ranks and flatly rejected shadow health secretary Andy Burnham's warning the party's message was not getting through. He insisted he was addressing voters' concerns about the "cost of living crisis" and offering a "comprehensive alternative" to the coalition on the economy. "What we are doing as a Labour Party is setting out how we would change the country," he said. "Just take this area of the cost of living crisis. Have Labour got answers? Absolutely we have got answers on rail fares, on energy prices, on a fairer tax system. "They are all the things I believe the country wants and that is what we are going to be talking about in the coming months." http://news.sky.com/story/1128517/ed-miliband-is-egged-on-campaign-visit |
A Tennessee judge has ordered a baby's first name changed from "Messiah" to Martin, saying that the only true messiah is Jesus Christ, a ruling the boy's mother promises to appeal, a Tennessee television station has reported. The parents of Messiah DeShawn Martin went before Tennessee Child Support Magistrate Lu Ann Ballew because they could not agree on the 7-month-old's last name. Ballew instead last week ordered the baby's name changed to Martin DeShawn McCullough, the Tennessee television station WBIR reported. "The word 'messiah' is a title, and it's a title that has only been earned by one person, and that one person is Jesus Christ," Ballew told WBIR. Ballew, who could not be reached for comment on Sunday, said the child would likely struggle with his given first name because he lives in Cocke County, a predominantly Christian area in eastern Tennessee. "It could put him at odds with a lot of people and, at this point, he has had no choice in what his name is," Ballew said. Jaleesa Martin, the baby's mother, told WBIR she would appeal the judge's order. "I didn't think a judge could change my baby's name because of her religious beliefs," Martin said. Christianity refers to Jesus as the Messiah, while Judaism uses the term to mean an anticipated saviour of the Jews. Dictionary definitions say the word can mean one who is seen as, expected or professes to be a saviour or liberator. Messiah was the 387th most popular name for boys born in the United States in 2012, based on applications for Social Security cards filed with the U.S. Social Security Administration. In all, there were 762 applications for boys named Messiah in 2012, up from 368 applications in 2011, the Social Security Administration said. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/tennessee-judge-orders-babys-name-changed-messiah-report-024954202.html#eooy1Bd |
