“The Russian forces now in place make it very, very obvious that any kind of no-fly zone on the Libyan model imposed by the US and allies is now impossible, unless the coalition is actually willing to shoot down Russian aircraft,” The Financial Times quotes Justin Bronk, a research analyst at the Royal United Services Institute as saying.

Based on the reports I'm reading - the Russians are targeting all the US, Saudi Arabia, Qatari, and Turkish assets in Syria with surgical strikes and bunker busters and I heard a few Saudi, Qatari, and Turkish servicemen have been collateral damage. The US also said all options are on the table - including military option - against Russian airstrikes on their Islamist assets. I don't think the US is suicidal cos Russia is basically doing what the US did in Libya albeit on the right side of history. The Russians also have the biggest nuclear submarine in the world, with nuclear warheads and ICBMs off the coast of Syria as deterrent and the Black Sea Naval feet there as well. They should start launching cruise missiles from the sea in the next few days against targets in both Syria and Iraq.

This is going to get interesting as time goes on. But the whole of Europe is behind Russia and Angela Merkel alluded to that yesterday. Hollande also supports Russia's initiative. And European people are celebrating Russia's intervention. Even in the UK - public opinions have been overwhelmingly pro-Russia. Putin is like a Demi-god right now.

The two regions wanted self autonomy from the central government, but the Georgian government under formal president, Sakavilli, said no; then Fighting broke out and there were killings. Russian peacekeepers under the acceptable standards of the UN were sent in to keep the peace, and there was relative calm, though not for long. The Georgian president, refusing to heed the warning of the then US president, George Bush, not to antagonize Russia, thrown caution to the wind and went on a frolick raiding and bombing the minoroties regions, and in the process killed some scores of Russian peacekeepers. Naturally, Russia was forced to respond and all that happened thereafter has been confined to the history books. And it will interest you to know that Putin wasn't the Russian President then. It was Medvedev, while Putin was just the prime minister, more of a ceremonial head. So stop blaming the man Russia.

On Ukraine, it seems you are yet to understand the genesis of the crisis. It was the United States that was the architect of the crisis. In a bid to get back at Moscow for frustrating it's effort to bomb Syria after that alledged gas usage by the Syrian regime, which later turned out to be a " flag flag ," the US moved next to Ukraine in other to antagonize Russia by formenting the coup that overthrown the corrupt but nevertheless legitimate government of Yanukovich, following the sniper incident which was later proved to be foreigners (not the acclaimed Yanukovich security forces), and the consequent installation of US puppets: all in a bid to move the Ukraine from the Russian sphere of influence. And when the Russian ethnic speakers in the East of the country refused to be ruled by Nazis installed in Kiev, all hell broke loose as the Ukrainian puppet government vowed to exterminate them, and of course, Russia must do thje needfulto ensure the safety and survival of its people else where. Thus, the ongoing crisis right now.

Rubbish article. The moment i saw the site name, i then understood the message and the pathetic wailings. The Yankees alluding that Russia doesn't have smart bombs or precision guided missiles? What a joke. The Su24 fencer as old as it is, has been upgraded and provisioned to carry prescision guided bombs, let alone the rest like Su34 and 35s. The fact that Russia already has such weapons is evidenced by the successful elimination of the rebellious militant leader Dudayev who was killed with precision weapons far back in the mid- 1990s.
