Question! What now? What are the bases for the next wave of wailing?

nations are guided by their immediate or regional interest in defining their policies. Southafrica has no business in Syria. All the Brics nations in Syria or about to enter Syria are great powers(india), super powers(russia) and soft powers(china). southAfrica is not yet a great power so her interest cannot at this Time be transcontinental. There are small powers, great powers, soft powers and super powers and more recently hyper powers(a post cold war concept).

Russia seized to be a super power since after its disintegration and the fall of communism. Why? Because to be a super power you have to have a global interest, foreign military bases and the totality of resources to pursue your interest anywhere in the world( Henry Kissinger 1973 ex US foreign minister). When Russia abandoned communism she lost the only one factor that gave her a global interest which was the spread of communism as written in the communist manifesto. She lost some of her territories and most of her mil bases and she became a great power but some of us political analyst still chose to call her super power, China is a soft power by virtue of her economic dimension of power, while India is regarded as a regional power or great power by virtue of her regional wide interest in the Asian continent ( Henry Kissinger: a great power is a power that have the totality pf resource to achieve her interstate which are regionally limited). So how do you describe south Africa?
Despite the fact that she does not have the resources to achieve any regional wide interest, she does not even have a regional wide interest, if she does what is her policy towards al shabab, boko haram, Mali, Sudan, DRC, Libya?

Unfortunately Africa can boast of only one great power and that is Nigeria. Our wide reaching pro African interest can be seen from table mountains in the south to the horn of Africa in the east. We have service men deployed in Liberia, Mali, sudan, Somalia and our force men have served as military head of staff in foreign African countries. We have not received a single penny from anyone in all our pro African efforts, we have the totality of resources for pursuing our interest anywhere in Africa. The Americans and soviet saw that when we mediated in the Angola crisis. 8 MIG21 we sent to Angola from Nigeria and 2 C130 were permanently shuffling between Angola and Nigeria supplying the pro nigerian rebel group in Angola. I would end this by saying nations know their status in world politics and cannot take actions beyond that status.
I must agree with you in almost all of your submissions, particularly as it relate to "power status, and geopolitical battle bone-vis national ideology and foreign interest. But a nation like SA does not have to be a major power or super power before it can meddle in places like Syria. A diplomatic assertion, an economic decision or a political stance, goes a long way in entailing solidarity and defining positions in the wake of economic, political and security continental or intercontinental issues. For instance, SA decision to halt the sale of coal to Ukraine at the early stage of the Ukrainian-Russian fracas, is one example of such identification, even though Jo'bourg denied that such decisions are not political.
The fact is, if SA is to get involve in Syria, it musn't be by way of military deployment, since the much bigger players now entering the conflict already have such at their disposal. A certain decision-economic or political, will be enough to define her stance. Bulgaria didn't have to get directly involve in Syria when it blocks Russian military transports from use of its airspace, but as a matter of fact, she was indirectly involved and defined it's position just by that single Political Decision that entails where her priorities and allegiance lies. This much will definitly be the case with SA should the need arise.

On power, i just don't have the time to debate on what quantifies power, what qualifies as power or what are the yardstick for determining political power among nations? Like i said above, i quite agree with your summation and Kissinger's definitions of power and super power status and so on. But the truth is: "power" as use in this context, goes beyond having military bases spread accross the globe. That is, power goes beyond quantities of military hardware. America's super power status today is not just because of its blue water navy or military might, but its ability to influence the global economy. That is the real power.
Aside that, every other thing is in the relatives and comperatives analogy as it relate to other key players in technological sense.

On Nigeria, there is no disputing the fact that Nigeria remains the backbone of Africa reliance, especially when you consider her foreign policy which is centered on Africa as the focal point of interest. The human, material, economic, and financial sacrifice this nation has made in ensuring the status quo accross he continent, tentavely defines her position as the giant of the continent; the only eye sore being corruption and leadership problem as it relates to the ecomic and political well being of the nation.

Be that as it may, one thing is now certain; and it is that the Syrian crisis just starting. It is far from over!

Russia is playing an old chess piece of the US. They intend on forming a coalition against ISIS instead of fighting it alone, why? To win a wide reaching support for the pro- Assad propaganda. If Russia is attacking alone it would be easy for the US and EU to tie it to vested interests, but if she is being supported by China and Iran and probably soon India, then it would become very hard for the west to wage a successful propaganda war against them.

what is SA going to do in Syria? Is the threat of al shabab, bokoharam, crisis in DRC and Sudan, are they not enough for southAfrica to define her foreign policy agenda with recourse to her continental responsibilities? What does she have to gain in Syria?
I see. But if you can recall, i did mentioned goepolitical and economic reasons. The world currently is been broken and fragmented into smaller economic units/blocks, with the likes of the EU, the SCO, BRICS,etc; as among the prominent ones. The formations of such blocs goes a long way in defining the ideology of a nation, and in shaping it's foreign policies, as well as where lies it's intersts and loyalty.
Now, when one or two member nations of such enonomic and geopolitical bloc get involve in a continental or intercontinental political or economic bruhaha, especially one that threatens the peace and security; some, if not all of the remaining member states, tends to get involved, covertly or overtly, as a show of solidarity and mutual identity and support in good and bad times. And since SA is a member of the BRICS, with two of it member nations already involved in the War in Syria, it won't be surprising to see the Diamond Nation move in similar steps, especially when you take into consideration that the war in question is about an enemy that is of great threat to the national security of any nation. What is happening now to Libya, Egypt, Mali, and Nigeria, is a wake up call to any sensible and security cautious Nation in the Black continent. And one sure way to defeat terrorism is to pre-empt them; and this may include taken the battle to where you can find and fight them before they have the chance to fight you. This is the primary reason China is stepping into the fight against ISIS in Syria.

thus, S.A will gain alot in terms of securing its national security against terrorism on the long run, and also set the records straight that it would not tolerate any foreign diabolical schemes and plots against it's people. I believe we all know that Boko Haram in Nigeria and Al Shaabab in Mali, are foreign sponsored elements design to achieve specifric aims! Well, i am having the creeps that ones they are through with Nigeria and Egypt, since Libya is already "mission successful", the next port of call might just be S.A: especially now that the US have "warned" it of a possible terror attack. And We all know how they will warn you first (as if they are truely concerned) before they hit at you!

Is the same old game!

The Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning-CV-16 has reportedly docked at the Syrian port of Tartus, according to DEBKAfile, an Israeli military intelligence website based in Jerusalem.

Much of DEBKAfile’s reportage is based on unidentified sources and cannot be independently verified.

The aircraft carrier was said to be accompanied by a guided missile cruiser.

Al-Masdar Al-‘Arabi, The Arab Source, claimed on Tuesday a Chinese naval vessel passed through the Suez Canal.

“Our military sources find evidence that the Chinese forces are digging in for a prolonged stay in Syria. The carrier put into Tartus minus its aircraft contingent. The warplanes and helicopters should be in place on its decks by mid-November – flying in directly from China via Iran or transported by giant Russian transports from China through Iranian and Iraqi airspace,” the unidentified sources told DEBKAfile.

A squadron of J-15 Flying Shark fighters will be stationed on the aircraft carrier and at the Russian base outside of Latakia.

According to the sources, the Chinese will also deploy Z-18F anti-submarine helicopters and Z-18J airborne early warning helicopters.

Additionally, according to the report, the Chinese will send 1,000 marines to assist the Russians in their effort to rollback the gains of the Islamic State and other jihadist groups attempting to defeat the Syrian army and depose Bashar al-Assad.

DEDABKfile claims marines will be instructed to single out rebel militias with recruits from Chechnya and the Caucasus and the Chinese marines will find and destroy Uighur fighters from the northern predominantly Muslim Chinese province of Xinjiang.

In August Infowars.com reported Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel’s remarks on ISIS and its advanced battlefield tactics due to the involvement of well-trained Chechens.

As noted by researcher Wayne Madsen last year, the U.S. has financed Chechen groups through a number of civil society groups, a fact “gleaned from the tranche of a quarter million leaked classified State Department cables,” writes Madsen.

According to Madsen the CIA, various establishment NGOs, USAID, the Soros foundations and the United Nations have worked together to underwrite Chechen terror. The Bush neocons also figure prominently in the Chechen connection.

There is ample evidence of the neocon connection to Chechen rebels, including information provided by former FBI agent Coleen Rowley.

Earlier this week Infowars.com reported on Jaish al-Muhajireen wal-Ansar, aka Muhajireen Brigade, joining al-Nusra, the jihadi terror organization linked to the Islamic State.

Jaish al-Muhajireen wal-Ansar is comprised primarily of Chechen and other Russian-speaking foreign fighters. It was led by an ethnic Chechen, Abu Omar al-Shishani, aka Tarkhan Tayumurazovich Batirashvili.

Batirashvili and other Chechen figures, including Doku Umarov have connections to the US State Department and the National Endowment for Democracy.
It is becoming more interesting by the days as they roll by.

China deploys troops to help Russia in Syria

Remember the joint military exercises of Russia and China in the sea and on land? With landing on shore and fighting against terrorists?

And here is the answer to the question of why they trained together.

Rusvesna:

"An Arab news source [Al Masdar News] reports that a military contingent of the PRC is on the way to Latakia and will arrive in Syrian ports any day. Chinese transport with military cargo was spotted on Tuesday morning, passing through the Suez canal.

Information about the Chinese military experts heading to Tartus was confirmed by the commander of the Syrian army. The report concludes that Moscow will create in Syria an anti-terrorist coalition that will become the alternative version of the military alliance formed by the US for dropping supplies to ISIS. Military entrance of China into the struggle for Syria will be an important addition to today's statement by the Iranian Foreign Ministry. At a press conference with "Russia Today" deputy foreign minister of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahian stated that Iran will fight ISIS together with Russia. Notably Amir talked not just about an alliance, but a creation of a broad military coalition.

"We welcome the Russian President's proposal on establishment of a common front in a fight against terrorism and are even ready in realizing this initiative to carry out joint operations and cooperate together," - said deputy foreign minister of Iran.

That Russia will fight terrorists with Iran's hands, English resources have been writing for a week. And the joining of China into the support group has exceeded all imaginable expectations. The presence of the international coalition significantly changes the balance of power in favor of Moscow, untying Russian hands for direct military action in the Middle East."

It seems that Russia has finally returned to the Middle East.
Russia is fully back, and the news is true. Even Isreali officials are confirming it. Now, fro those who are still doubting Russo-Chino alliance, can now lay down their doubts.cheesy

It seems that Russia has finally returned to the Middle East.
Yeah.cheesy Its now an open fact that Chinese military is joining Russia forces in Syria. The board is set . . . the pieces are moving.” -Gandalf, Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (formal Soviet-now Russia), is back to the Middle East!cheesy

According to The New York Times and FT, in addition to nine T-90 tanks and more than 500 marines for possible ground attacks, Russia is building up its air base near the port city of Latakia in Syria with some of its most
advanced ground attack planes and fighter jets, and 2,000 troops as the “first phase” of its mission to shore up the Assad government. The planes are protected by at
least two or possibly three SA-22 surface-to-air, anti aircraft systems, and unarmed Predator-like
surveillance drones are being used to fly reconnaissance missions.
Now, China is entering the fray, as reported by the Al-Masdar (The Arab Source) on Sept. 23, 2015: The Russians appear to have a contingency that involves another world power that was absent from the U.S. led Anti-ISIS Coalition: China. Chinese military personnel and aerial assets are scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks (6 weeks) to the port-city of Tartous. Russia has made it abundantly clear that they are taking an active role in this conflict, but the news of the Chinese military to Syria provides more insight into their contingency. It appears now that Russia is not going to combat ISIS alone: the plan is similar to the U.S.’ idea of a “coalition” of air forces, but far more involved on the ground; this is something the U.S. and their allies have avoided since the inception of their war against ISIS, for which we all know is only a ruse.

Despite all of this, Russia and the U.S. appear to be at it again; however, this is no space or arms race, they are actively flexing their muscles through their proxies (U.S.: rebels and Russia: Syrian Army). ZeroHedge reminds us that it is not as if China had not given sufficient warning:

This comes two years after China warned that turmoil in Syria could have negative implications for the global economy and 18 months after, Beijing, along with Moscow, used their security council vetoes to undercut a UN resolution calling for the crisis in Syria to be referred to the Hague.” Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal reports on Sept. 21 that “Russia and Iran have stepped up coordination inside Syria as they move to safeguard President Bashar al-Assad’s control over his coastal stronghold, according to officials in the U.S. and Middle East, creating a new complication for Washington's so-called "diplomatic goals."cheesy

Now that China is stepping in and Iran is reported to be sending troops, it is becoming apparent that Russia's hands, like you said, are being completely untied, and as such can legitimately carry out massive aerial and ground bombardment of the Islamic State of Satan. And if "any" body stands their way, then there would be "unintended
consequencies" as warned by Lavrov!cheesycheesy

Game on!

Brother, i see saliva drooling from epileptic ,frustrated and agonized tongues of some greedy political and economic demagogues, bunch of satanists accross the western hemisphere, watching helplessly as the Vladinator's spirit-led new coalition divinely sanctioned by the Cosmic order takes on and crush ISIS-the hordes of hell created, covertly sponsored, and openly nortured by the Hegemon-the United States of Anarchy!
