Burob:Yes, rotation. Now Edo Central should go next. Osunbor from Edo Central won in 2007 but the court overturned it in favour of Oshio. We cannot afford to support greedy politicians to manufacture crisis. Let each serve their time and go. I know many would have liked Edo to vote APC in 2023 presidential but being a sophisticated place with very educated people, Edo like Lagos and Abuja voted Labour. Truly cosmopolitan places. Not tribal politics. Enlightened people don't do "Baba so pe" tribal politics. ![]() Though South South is traditionally PDP, especially as it was the only inclusive national party previously. Edo vote tactically, not blindly. Voting for presidency and governorship/LG may differ. Uniben and Unilag always led protests in Nigeria. As far back as Ali must go days. APC and PDP have lost their way. LP is being gradually taken over by political prostitutes/opportunists from APC/PDP. Something got to give soon. Ali Bongo the noisemaker should be a warning to smug politicians. When the youth finally rebel, dem go know how far. |
Pandar01:Then it shows that you must be a jambite here. I have clearly outlined my ancestry in posts here since 2011. So I don't have to write anything new. All are already here. So you can't say I am just making it up. |
Pandar01:Funny thing is in that Yorubaland, you have no level. It is Tapa slave forcefully claiming Yoruba, totally devoid of Omoluabi ethos, that show their low pedigree like this. Yorubaland has suffered. |
Successlane:But remember, Oshio wanted to become the Godfather that he claimed he eradicated in Edo. Outgoing governors like to still rule by proxy, which is bad. Even presidents in some cases, like OBJ. Oshio became too demanding, meddlesome and did not give Obaseki free hand to do his job. Over time it caused issues. Same way OBJ had issues with GEJ. Politicians believe that once they help to enthrone someone, you must do their bidding. Edo people supported Obaseki for a second term because they wanted Obaseki to do his second term and go. Just like Oshio did 8 years. Then power can shift to Edo Central. Imagine if Ize-Iyamu won 3 years ago and by 2024 he wants to re-run? Oshio would refuse and another fight would start. Obaseki is clearly no angel but let him do his time and go. As it stands, any serious and fair party will cede the ticket to Edo Central (to a capable candidate, EC has many) and Edo will support it. |
Pandar01:Well, I'd rather live in a "bad" state so long my head remains intact. But in Ogun, skullarship experts are after you. ![]() Edo people have a mind of their own and won't do follow follow. We all know that your bigotry na follow come. We remember your tin god and Femi Pedro, Ajasin v Omoboriowo, Awo v. SLA (that caused Witie and led to first coup and Biafra war consequently). A kid won't know all that. Pele! |
NaBanga:So cheating and being caught before wanting divorce is the right way? How about telling the man she wants the marriage to end, come to an agreement to separate before following another man? Remember, this can happen to your son, brother or cousin, if you are a woman. Is it that easy to file so quickly and get an acceptable sponsor? This is a man who will also be struggling to process the disappointment. |
Kobojunkie:Lol. To begin with, lots of uneducated couples don't marry properly. They just abandon the "marriage" and move on. Of course more common in some tribes than others. But educated ladies in particular want traditional, registry and church marriage. So divorce can be drawn out too. |

BigYash:Benin men nor be rat wey go dey bite you and blow you. Benin guys are blunt. If you can't handle the truth, too bad. Behave yourself or gettat. Who get time? Call it pride or whatever they like. Some women want simps so they can cheat around, no questions asked. If she nor polish her behaviour, men of whatever tribe will use her play ludo, take their share of looted money from her and flee. ![]() In a civilised country, she would be sacked from her public office. |
GeneralPula:You suppose know. The average Benin guy nor dey simp. And very blunt. Women like pretence, hypocrisy and flowery words. A Benin guy will support you to raise the family but nor form any nonsense or you go collect. Some parts of 9ja, the men will come all romantic and later leave the woman and kids and serially sire kids with several women, no care. Some Edo woman fall for all that and many regret it later. I know loads. Benin guys also do not monetise everything to later murder his wife when she quits the marriage because of heavy money invested. Very rare. Funny thing is decades ago, Edo/Benin guys were first to nail down oyinbo girls in any new location. Some other tribes were saying we were using juju. ![]() One fact is that non-Benin women cream up the most promising Benin men. Edo Central and Igbo ladies especially. My family is an example with lots of guys marrying non-Benin women. Let our women try other tribes and see the efforts and extra patience needed to make it. My female relatives who could not handle the truth followed men of other tribes. Singing their praises before marriage. I was very happy for them. Weeks to marriage, one called me to lament how her non-Edo groom to be has impregnated one of his numerous girlfriends, baby due anytime. She found out just by chance. Seeking advice what to do. I advised her that any man from any tribe can do anything. Since she thought men from that tribe were better for her, is she now changing her mind? She was shocked that I did not say "I told you so". I said with wedding plans completed and wedding weeks away, if the guy is not gonna marry the pregnant lady, give him a chance. In their marriage, plenty dishonesty and waste of joint family funds by the man. My relative would never have taken that poo from a Benin man. I know many other cases. All female friends and family members married to men of a tribe that boasts about being romantic, 100% of the marriages failed. Common denominator: philandering. Even female friends also from the same tribe as the men. Let this Igunbor lady marry a non-Benin and also bear whatever she finds. |
Evboesi:Thanks my brother. My grouse is that we in Benin are not doing enough to bring Eastern Yoruba people of Benin descent closer. Those over there who are aware of their Benin descent are very warm towards Edo people. In my case, my family still has houses and a street name with many relatives there. In the royal descendants' quarter no less. A bit like Ogbe in Benin. But even more specific. The family summoned immediately an oba of Owo joins the ancestors and take care of his funeral as a family affair. But I wonder how many people today in Edo and Ondo not lucky enough to know that family connection on either side. A time will come that if we in Benin don't reenforce the Edo connections over there, subsequent generations will take on only Oduduwa narrative to make their life easier in line with SW mainstream political position. For example, how can a first class monarch who told me when alive that he was of Edo origin join his ancestors and Edo was not visibly represented at his obsequies? I have a copy of all letters of condolence (all were compiled) that other prominent monarchs/traditional rulers sent and none from Benin. We need to build bridges. A young energetic man called Imasuen is really trying in that regard though. Oba of Ogba, King of Brass, Ekpeye, Yenagoa, Degema and many Ikwerre monarchs are bona fide Edo people. Even the Igede people in Benue are bona fide Edo, via Edo North. You are correct. The monarchs and senior chiefs were planted Edo people to rule new territories. But those kings and elite could marry many wives and sire many children quickly. So over time, 30% or more of the people could easily be their descendants. |
Evboesi:My brother, you got virtually everything right. Aside the bolded. The palace was our father's ducal palace in Edo South. It so happened that in imperial times, post Ozolua and before 1897, a prince of Owo could present himself to Oba of Benin as a Prince of Benin. Our father did just that. He was settled at Ugbo Owo. Uniben/ and UBTH are located there today. He was later made Enogie of another area in Edo South. My uncle is the current duke of same place. While Upelle people still very much admit their Benin origin (just like some other Obas in Eastern Yorubaland), Owo historians now feel that Owo monarchy is too important now in Yorubaland to be seen as son of Oba of Benin. That some Owo obas of old only claimed to be son or brother of Oba of Benin in order to bask in the glory of powerful obas of Benin and enhance their own prestige. Surely, our father's recognition as a prince by Oba of Benin clearly nullifies the idea of some obas of Owo only basking in the glory of Oba of Benin without being blood relatives. Because by this time, Benin had started reserving ducal/enogie positions for princes of blood exclusively. But quite interesting when you discuss with those monarchs over there. They know the history and connections better than me and you. So I laugh when I hear people just open their mouth "waa" and talk anyhow here. It was a pretty common thing for Benin descendant princes to return to Benin. Prince Olojo Kosoko of Lagos did same after Oba Kosoko, his father, was deposed and exiled to Epe. |
Hmmmm |
Nonexisting1:My brother, some guys dey reason anyhow. They think life is that black and white. Some women even mess around more when married to a decent guy. They will find the man boring and predictable. Any woman can cheat. Sometimes for no good reason. Men should know this and know peace. In fact decent guys are more likely to marry whores because they are not streetwise enough to see the ashawo vibes a woman has. I know a good guy who now has several kids, some in early 20s now with a former professional olosho. He does not know it till now. I knew but I dey mind my business. But that guy considers himself very wise. ![]() On the flip side, some who married decent women have since divorced. So life nor too balance. |
Taylor90:All the time at bolded. |
Mayeldah:Nne me eee! The bolded off me. Do you know you can be prosecuted for that firecracker of a put down? ![]() |
donbenie:Who needs ponmo when they have a covenant with poverty? ![]() |
So after 8 years of change, APC govt now officially has Poverty Minister? ![]() So all this while, na poverty multiplication ministers dem get? ![]() Come to think of it, if you have become poverty capital of the world, you deserve a Poverty Minister. Alleviation my foot. |
BoldBrainz:Oga, which elephant? That behaviour by our law enforcement na regular domestic animal like goat and chicken. They mostly don't care if no money is involved. Like yahoo boys. |
Judolisco:I know of a family in Oyo. Their father is well-known among Ibadan elite. The mother of the family is Edo. She arrived in Ibadan as a girl to study in the 1950s and never left. Until recently, her grandkids here abroad didn't know their frequently visiting grandma is Edo woman. So a child mother's identity is not a vital part of him/her? Remember that ONLY a mother knows the true father of her kids. The ultra Orthodox Jews only consider a person born of a Jewish woman as a true Jew. Has anyone disputed that her paternal family is the Ikusebiala family in Ogun? |
Judolisco:So you didn't know which side is Ogun or Delta until now? You see, there is this issue common in some 9ja people, SW even more so. While SW are happy with Muslim-Christian identity, they are less tolerant of dual ethnic heritage. You are either SW or nothing. I have got news for you: millions of us like that are in 9ja and we are not going anywhere else. We dey gidigba. For your information, a lot of people who parade themselves as Yoruba today are Tapa, core Northerners, Edo, etc. They have lost their origins to history. They all claim Oduduwa, a man that probably existed less than 1000 years ago. Yoruba can't be less than 2000 years old. Spiritual father at best and probably father of some ANCIENT monarchs. So why is it a crime for Remi to be Itsekhiri (a Delta people composed majorly of Ijebu, Edo and Owo people) and be Yoruba from Ogun at the same time? Please rid yourself of tribalism. |
dalaman:True he is, but he has no elective office. Long before the election, some Itsekhiri folks already clearly spelt out her Itsekhiri pedigree. Look, take it or leave it. The truth is the truth. In truth, her ancestry won't buy me garri. |
Judolisco:Part Delta, part Ogun State, though she represented Lagos in the senate. Fashola is from Ekiti, PYO from Ogun. Both served in LASG. |
Betta, as a minister, try to help shape the promises dished out under your portfolio. Lifting 33 million will be more credible even though lifting just 3 million sef is a Herculean task even, never mind 33. Even US and China combined can't lift 133 million. |
dalaman:You forgot she is a politician, officially Lagos politician. Politicians can say anything. Go ask Ayiri Emami and others who know Remi to her family house. The in-law who revealed Tinubu's true age is from where? And in your biology studies, a man produces a child all by himself? Eku ise o. |
Idaytesj29:Partly is and identifies strongly with it too. Aside Ogun state. |
It seems some people are afraid to send a matter that concerns the lives of Africans to front page. Is it for religious reasons? Please our lives are more important. Seun Osewa Mods Mynd44 |
dalaman:Check both sides of her family first, oga. Thank you. |
EyeCumInPiss:But you do know the impact of low foreign reserve on the credibility of third world country govt and ability to service their debts? Impact on the currency of a country that has a very narrow stream of forex like 9ja that depends over 90% on oil export? The key function of CBN to manage foreign reserve? That foreign reserve is an asset while local currency is a liability because govt can print it without actually earning it and bad for inflation/currency? Importance in times of crisis/upheaval to still meet obligations to creditors abroad? All these affect the value of the currency in your pocket, especially when freely floated. A volatile currency can't allow citizens have a good quality of life. |
Bendel of old and Lagos have always been at the heart of protests and yearning for change in 9ja. Abuja has joined. People often don't realise how diverse Edo is. Edo is where someone called Nosa, Abubakar, Eze, Onome, Tshola, Adefemi, Priye, Ese, Ose, Alimekhena and Obruche can be an indigene. Their family will have lived there for generations, irrespective of their place of origin but now rightly claim only Edo. |
She doesn't need to have offended anyone. Some other powerful figures from Delta may just be jostling for the position and want their own person there. Also another likely reason is she's Urhobo like Keyamo. I don't believe Anioma, Isoko and Itsekhiri folks will be too happy with that. Remi Tinubu too has interest in Delta matter as an Itsekhiri. |
