kaywhy09:Nor mind am. A single paternity fraud blows all these 14 things out of the water. No man should mumu dey rely on a woman. If you like cut your head to present to her as a gift. She will shock you. Treat a woman as you feel she deserves at any particular time. No manual. |
RepoMan007:But we already import a lot of food. Imagine all the rice. Do we drain foreign reserve to further import? We will lose more credit worthiness and put the Naira under more pressure. It would seem doing anything in 9ja is fraught with serious problems: bureaucracy, red tape, corruption, lazy and incompetent officials. The climate is unconducive for investment. People like me have invested in agric before during GEJ govt. Herdsmen and bandits later came in the past few years and have driven workers away and farms burnt down. Insecurity is a BIG issue. We need a pan-African approach to tackling hunger. Then a regional currency that one country cannot just devalue anyhow. It has downsides as individual countries cannot react to economic changes quickly, but policies tend to be more sound when multi-national. No need for forex to import food from Gambia or Senegal or Niger anymore. If not for corruption, Taraba, Kwara, Oyo, Niger and other states with massive agric land could lease land to other states to farm and sell to people in their states, fill up state silos/stores to control food prices. Rice, corn, beans and others can be harvested in a few months. By the way, doesn't FG have food stores for strategic food security? |
RepoMan007:Whichever method you use to calculate naira-dollar ratio, you will most likely end up somewhere between 1200 and 2300 plus. So, whatever the true value, the scope for volatility is large, especially when we claim to have a floating rate, when in fact it has been a fixed rate that was poorly managed. Remember we have a non-convertible currency that reduces it as a store of value. And all the mindless quantitative easing/money printing. It has not resulted in improved economic activities as it did in many Western countries. Of course, all the 78 trillion cannot be pursuing dollars but fact is a lot of money is out there seeking to buy dollars as a better store of value to hoard or to pay for import. We are still import dependent. Even petrol is imported. Not only governors, even successful individuals will seek to shield their cash from devaluation by converting to dollars and hoard or pay into dom accounts. Remember dollar racketeering too. Banks get the money from CBN auction and don't pass it on to genuine importers but to their friends and BDCs/mallams to sell at a considerable mark-up. Of course a lot of the money pursuing dollars are proceeds from corrupt practices. Like I said, too much anomalies and poor policies. |
InvertedHammer:High inflation and high interest rate economy is a troubled economy. FG still issues bonds at about 7% when inflation is running at almost 30%. Yes, high rate of devaluation encourages spending but purchasing power is already low. Now, we rely on import. Some claim we have too much money in circulation: 78 Trillion Naira chasing limited dollar. With $33 billion dollar foreign reserve, a rough true value of Naira is: 78 trillion/33 billion = 2363. So Naira could easily still reach 2363 to a dollar. If you still use Hamburger system to calculate true value, Naira is still weak. People easily dismiss science, but economics follows scientific principles and fairly reliable. If we were an exporting nation, with light, infrastructure, security and more stability, FDI would still flow in to benefit from a short and medium term bullish economy. Naira volatility won't matter too much as more people will get employment and income will rise too. But 9ja has too many anomalies and poor policies. |

Hausa:If you spent decades believing in and pursuing the goal of returning to 9ja, only to see that virtually everyone you trusted was a fraud all along, you will know whether it's fallacy or not. You are talking of generalisation when I quoted examples of other people's experience too. Even the projects they managed to complete, it cost around 150 to 200% than the actual cost. Anybody is free to invest in 9ja, but shine YOUR EYES. Trust nobody, especially if you don't have any parents alive anymore. The good thing is that the disappointment has become a blessing now. Hold your hard currency where you dey hustle. |
Panda7:Let be realistic. Investing in 9ja is a major mistake unless you are on ground to do it yourself. People warned me years back, I didn't listen. Done that, seen it. People managing it will ruin you. RUIN as in capital. Biggest regret. My cousin got her own share of it 3 years back despite my warning to her. No house to see when she arrived home. House being built and pics sent were fake. Adjusting for recent inflation and currency devaluation, total sum should be about 65 to 70m Naira. Simple advice to her: Forget the money and get your ass back abroad before they kpai you. Leave as soon as Covid-19 lockdown allows you. Investment in shares? Same story. Fake land, etc. If you saved 10m Naira in 9ia or invested in shares in 2014, how much is it worth today? If you built a small hotel in 9ja, how much return will you get as ROI? Well I know many who have since sold up due to family eating all the proceeds. Decades of experience here. 9ja is a sink hole for your funds. In any case, forget about returning to 9ia for retirement. To darkness, bandits, kidnappers, poor health care and bad roads? Diaspora people should wake up. The community spirit and loving parents you grew up with are either already gone or will soon go totally. Nothing left. You are a grown ass adult now that only your nuclear family wherever you live care about. Nobody else. Even the houses you built, some relatives are ready to drag it with your abroad based kids and wife if God forbid anything happens to you today. With juju and any other means. Keep your money/investment for YOUR CHILDREN. Not in 9ja. Do charity as the spirit leads you, but expect nothing. |

Akasammyoka:Funda wetin oga? Was there ever one in this con3? And this is country under civilian govt o. ![]() |
Major7:Because you must have proven to be reliable and honest to your friend. Many family members of those abroad want you to be welfare benefit officer that pays them monthly. Everyone I know abroad has opened businesses, shops and set up relatives but 90% fail at it. When you tell them in the beginning to apprentice under someone successful in the business first, wahala go come. You hear things like: those doing it, do they have 2 heads? Bros, I only asked for financial help, not ideas. Na money dey yab me sha. I have already worked everything out, yada yada yada. They want your money but not your ideas on how to succeed. You give them money, they open a shop and stock it, and a year later business dies. A year later, they will be saying those abroad don't help. What vexes me the most is that they will never admit you ever helped them. No matter how many times you set them up and they fail. Most Africans nor ready. Virtually everyone I know abroad has same story: from Ghana, CIV, Cameroon, 9ja, name it. |
Major7:A place where a privileged minister can embezzle billions of Naira meant to alleviate poverty, what do you expect? Too much warped views, leaving above their means and keeping up with the Joneses. The average home-based person is entitled, bitterly and codedly envious and exploitative. Especially the laziest of the lot. Like only about 5% are different are not necessarily those you expect to be good to you are good. It might be outsiders that are decent. Even some parents are exploiters and embezzlers of funds from their abroad based children. They say people abroad are stingy, yet same people won't give a beggar 10 Naira. In 9ja, I like to go undercover in bukas and viewing centres (years back) and pretend to be home-based. The things I hear them say about those abroad is alarming. If you are abroad, just know that you are on your own. They see you as a cash-cow. No love. No remorse. The person you have been helping for 25 to 40 years continuously will still exploit you. |

Deogratiasfx: ![]() At least SE have done better than in 2022 edition. Any further good result now is just a bonus. |
Franklyspeakin:The man/Ned did not even factor in inflation at almost 30%. If a landlord collected 400k per annum from a tenant in March 2023 and invested the money or spent it, it would have been worth over $400 worth of bucks. 33k per month (400k per year) rent in March 2023 will now be worth around 66k in March 2024. How can you expect a landlord that knows how rapidly money is losing value to sign up to that? Which landlord will not factor in inflation each month? More landlords will be asking for rent in dollars. That will put more pressure on the Naira (Naira chasing few dollars around) and lose even more value. Yes, he wants to be seen to be on the side of the poor but he didn't think it through. 6 months would make sense. Many of us do 6 months already. Some landlord even prefer monthly rent sef. Especially old papa dem sharing face-me-I-kick-you with their tenants. ![]() If you do anyhow, by month end end he kicks you out. |
One day years ago in 9ja I went to deliver a message to a pastor around 10:30am. I thought the church would be empty o. On a Tuesday. I was shocked to see how packed the church was. People from babies to may 80 years old. That pastor later behaved in way that makes me suspicious of any so-called MoG till today. Faith without work is dead. |
dododawa1:Are these juju shrines or what? ![]() Wait oh, why is it that Ikotun customary court always hears orisirisi cases? "Man seeks divorce after catching wife in hotel with vulcanizer", "Woman seeks divorce after catching hubby with bole and epa seller". Even one funny magazine always reports funny things about Ikotun. "Woman dies during marathon sex with husband's best friend in a hotel". Na only dem waka come? ![]() |
thesicilian:Agba baller! You sabi the game. He needs a high pressing club with deft wingers to supply many balls. Because he's not as clinical in front of goal like Harland or old Benzema, high ball numbers will help him to score 15 to 20 goals a season. And maybe minimum 10 assists too. I predicted Klopp and Sallah leaving LFC by end of the season although I thought Sallah would be about 90% and Klopp maybe 60% likely to go. LFC strike force is a bit congest right now but when Sallah leaves, Osimhen will slot in well. Arsenal could also do with an out and out striker. If he wants comfort zone football, then PSG. |

Itooweak4una:Dude, make you nor talk. Soon, some women will come along and say how successfully they trained sons alone. Sons without a proper male (dad, stepdad, grand dad, uncle, etc) influence struggle to be "men" in life. Some may have good jobs, be married etc but will most times not know how to be a good dad or hubby. Of course there are few exceptions/outliers. How does OP expect embassy to process child's documents if the child is not go to be immersed into the culture of the said foreign country? Most countries grant citizenship to foreign born people on the ground you are going to or intend to live long term in that country and contribute. Of course you can do otherwise after obtaining it. Since the man was not yet a citizen when the child was born, it takes some procedure and correct filling of documents. If OP wishes to keep the child alone and deny him/father reunion, she should simply say so. The child can try japa route 25 years from now. |

Evboesi The problem I have with our people from SW is hubris. There is this recent neo-colonial mindset and nationalism born out of new found increase in influence in national politics of religion and tribalism. This hubris makes perfectly intelligent people refuse to pause, listen and learn. They think that the history of the area now called Nigeria was also WAZOBIA tripod of a failed nation we have now. Things were very different centuries ago. Benin Empire was the pre-eminent power in the South-Eastern part of West Africa that is still called Bight of Benin today. From about 1440 about 1680s/90s when Oyo rose, primarily on the back of slave trade. At least this is well-documented by the Europeans. Oyo reached its zenith under Bashorun Gaha until eliminated by Alaafin Abiodun and Oyabi in 1774. We all know what happened after that. There was no other Yoruba Empire. Even Ibadan that rose following fall of Oyo could not be that powerful. How come Ajayi Crowther who had the best opportunity to explore Benin-Ife connection did not? Because he was not much in the later political game of later writers in SW that brought it. You can't consider Ibadan University ethnocentric politico-historians' accounts to be worth anything. ![]() AutomaticMotors Ghostwon samuk Gregyboy |

carl90:Carl90 In the same way, no woman is ever single. In fact women now have more men on the go than men. She might also be using you as a chance to move closer to another guy or even guys in Lagos but fully funded by you. ![]() If you don't intend to marry soon, don't carry her load on your head. Why does she need your support/permission to relocate to Lagos? Because she needs you to fund her in Lagos, no two ways about it. Whatever game you think you are playing, babes are much sharper and better at it. Nor dull yourself. If you intend to marry her, then invite her to relocate. |

Successlane:So those Northerners everywhere in civil service, what qualifications did they use to get in? Watch Dr Ramon-Yusuf interview on YouTube. He mentioned that in one finding in a neighbouring country, almost all students in a "shopping mall" university were from Borno. Last time I checked, Borno is in North-East. Or you want to define Core North as only North-West? We also used to say before that Northerners were very modest and not corrupt. Then IBB and Abacha showed us lessons. Northerners are very peaceful they said, then Boko came. Dude let's agree that 9ja is corrupt from top to bottom, North to South, East to West. Only then can we begin to find solutions. Not through denial. |
Well, the dude got the martyrdom he wanted, Israel got rid of him. It's a win-win situation. |
