Konquest:So, a matrilineal guy (with a bit of money) from Ogiamien family and with the recognised Chief Ogiamien missing for years now tells a story and that is your plausible version of history? First ask them to present the young man installed as chief Ogiamien to come and tell his family history. There is a full book on Ogiamien in Benin. Go and read it in full, not this online nonsense you see. My point is that there are too many versions of Oduduwa. The Ooni can say anything just like anybody else but we need a consistent version. I have a stake in it. I have a direct Oduduwa link through a different Yoruba dynasty. |
I will follow this thread closely. Especially the Messiah and dual Oduduwa angle. Gregyboy Automaticmotors samuk Babasolution |
Riskymarvelous:Not albino. He has vitiligo. The same skin condition Michael Jackson had. |
Karlifate:Men largely control resource base. If men see women as relatives first, sex won't be immediate interest. Maybe genuine friendship and more could follow. But of course, some women just want money the easy way and nothing anybody can do about it. However, we have created a culture in which a woman surrenders her body (be it as so called dating, hook-up or whatever) to get benefits from a guy. That is what has shaped the mentality of some ladies here on NL that broke-shame men. As if women have been forbidden to earn own money. We can all do better than that. There is a need for a better re-orientation of both genders. |
BigYash:Before nko? We already know that. That is why guys who make money trade up babes to step up a level or two. Because most girls would do same in your position. The jungle don mature tey tey. |
Very sad story. She wouldn't have done it if life had dealt her a better hand growing up. She has basically sacrificed herself for her family and comfort in life. She will have lots of regrets later in life. May she find peace and succour. Guys should see girls first of all as sisters and cousins before anything else. |
Great! Do Nigeria proud while at it. AutomaticMotor Gregyboy samuk |
Righthussle: ![]() 9ja dey too do oversabi. The premier university in the English speaking world still calls law degree BA in Jurisprudence or BA in Law if with another component. In same England, once a doctor has been certified as a surgeon, he becomes Mr. No more Dr title again. Unless he become a prof, then he can bear prof title. I doubt if that Enenche guy would know this. |
Gaha was never an Alaafin. He was the Basorun, prime minister and head of Oyomesi (Kingmakers). As far as I k now, it was in 1774 that Alaafin Abiodun escaped from Oyo Ile to team up with Oyabi (Kakanfo at that time?) and Baale of Ajase, I believe now in Benin Republic to invade Oyo, defeat and eradicate Gaha. Though tyranny of Gaha ended, Oyo never managed to be as strong as before after the quasi civil war. Its weakness thereafter paved the way for Jihadists to overrun it. |
babasolution:I believe the problem now is that it has become an ethnic, supremacy and political fight. Not about thorough research. We have discussed Benin-Yoruba issue here for over a decade now. It typically degenerates to insults. I have even offered to take anybody willing to go to Eastern Yorubaland to see thriving Edo origin communities and Obas. I also hereby add on top to invite in the opposite direction to see Yoruboid communities in Edo. To speak to both sides about their history. But people seem more interested in arguing, ranting and swearing than facts finding. Now, as for Egharevba and his A Short History of Benin, it was a good attempt at putting things together in terms of trying the bridge the lacuna on written Benin History as a whole. Benin history presented hitherto mostly in smaller bits and European records in the written form. However, it is vast in oral form and in sculpture, carving, worship, festivals, ceremonies, rituals, etc. But like any pioneer work, it clearly had limitations due to limited resources and research to rely on at the time. So, we cannot rely on it as if it was a Bible. Same applies to a lot of books on history. If we cannot be objective, dispassionate and open-minded in our approach to learning history, we won't get very far. It is not a competition or fight BUT 9ja seem to fight over everything: politics, resource control, religion, palliatives, ethnic issues, history, everything. Automaticmotors Gregyboy Etinosa samuk |
wizelink:But Federal police size will need to reduce. NPF will now be tackling Federal or inter-state crimes. Police staff can be seconded to their region or state from NPF. That way, FG can divert saved money from reduction to states directly. But a lot needs to change: entry qualification, training, orientation, funding, equipment, policing techniques, etc. States should be allowed to seek tactical trainers from Canada, Australia, Ireland, Singapore, Sweden, NZ, etc. I nor Trust UK, USA or France with these things. They may turn our police to be their spies. |
Very nice |
Ehengbuda was a warrior king. Nice. |
God1000:By law, the state should prove his guilt. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. |
millionboi2:Death killed him. You are expecting too much from a 9ja newspaper of nowadays. RIP. |
annayawchee: ![]() For those that have not pafuka their wombs while collecting awoof. True. Everything has a price. Nothing goes for nothing. |
chariisGRACE:Dude, let's be fair. Many of them were not nearly as well-paid or wealthy as they appeared. They were self-employed and no pension. Once ill, they could not work anymore. Many had no lucrative endorsements. This older generation did it for the love of acting. Popular but most were not wealthy. RIP. |
Gajagojo:No researcher in USA can tell you exactly how many tests were done in USA last year. That figure won't be ready. Much less in 9ja. How does not having exact figure invalidate results published by researchers in 9ja? I don't do my work in 9ja. You did not have the figures across the places you were comparing before disputing the results for 9ja? |
Judolisco:Oh wow, good. Now let's talk. Who in America does paternity test? Which demographics do it more? What is their reason? Yes, lots of those working class (in Western sense) and underclass folks on US TV fighting over paternity, Black and Latino folks feature prominently. Now, why do people do it in 9ja? The fact that despite fewer people able to afford it in 9ja and actually do it, the rate is that high. Now imagine doing this test in folks living in face-me-I-slap you in Bariga or Ikotun? ![]() I know that unless something is published by Western researchers, we Africans like to doubt it. I would have disputed it just like you if I had not seen it in real life too. |
Gajagojo:Dude, 9ja has capacity to do way more than 1 million. Do you know how many tests have already been done for family reunion required by embassies? I know of several failed paternity tests 25 years ago. I worked on developing some rapid tests decades back. Looking back, I would have sought funding for rapid paternity test development. It didn't seem that important back then. In any case, officially acceptable tests must be done in certified labs. Chinese researchers flooded the department as doc candidates and post docs (across Western universities) and no wonder they lead today. Going back to 9ja, the trend has been long obvious that infidelity is high, use of protection is low and paternity fraud is high. It has been relatively high for decades but even more so now. Tests were prohibitively expensive those days. Sure, in research, high numbers make the outcome more reliable. But remember, in countries where suspicion is low or no official need to do the test, test uptake is low. Yes, this can skew the result. You will not get ethics clearance to do paternity tests on 200,000 or 1m kids just for research. You have to do retrospectively based on tests already done. This is were existing labs come in and some have published theirs to enlighten the public. Or to codedly advertise themselves. |
Judolisco:A relative wanted to relocate his kids abroad. Paternity test required by embassy showed all 3 kids were not not his. I know of many other cases up close. A lab in Lekki was offering discount on paternity test 2 years ago and women were outraged. There has even been a publication of the 3 regions in Nigeria from which most men come for paternity test. It was here on NL. More men than you think are codedly doing paternity test. Labs have these figures. |
Gajagojo:Dude, forget oversabi. There have been publications upon publications. Since you do research, you should know how to search for publications. This is not new. I have said for years here on NL that around 35% of firstborns belong to another and at least 25% of all kids belong to another man. Results from studies in 9ja last year said 26.1% of all kids. So current 30% is not surprising. Are you just seeing this for the first time? Dey dull yourself and don't to paternity test on your kids. |
Joy2dworldxyz:Dude, 9ja took 1st and second. Na the 9ja transatlantic passage people carry am go Jamaica. |
beekind:First, see a good O&G. Be sure of all the symptoms. Be sure of the regularity of her period, hormones including androgen levels, etc. Women can hide some things to secure marriage. Even many so called honest and virtuous women can still hide some stuff. No aspersions on anyone. If she is already overweight, she should already be active and eating healthily to reduce weight. The road ahead can be tough and you cannot walk it with a lazy or undisciplined woman. An uncomfortable question you need to ask is if she has been pregnant before. Most ladies abort many preggies before marriage. No biggie these days. You may end up having no issues at all with reproduction but also prepare for any eventuality including IVF. |
MT:Bolded is the simple truth. If you go to 9ja and be low key, people say you did not make it. They will be saying how that person in Sweden or Japan built that storey building or used x of number cars last time he came. He was carrying many fine girls. Not everyone will decide to disclose all his investments to people or appear lavish in a country with so many people just managing. In the West, nobody really cares about your wealth or how you live large. That reduces the pressure to keep up with the Joneses. Yet some 9ja folks in the West cannot recognise the advantage of this. They still want to "chill with the big boys" and go into crime. |
o123456789:Abeg lower the volume. Na 9ja we dey, The place was not set up to work. Only to benefit a few. |
thesicilian: ![]() The question is if it's 6 or 60. When a babe admit 6, just know say it is much higher. Guys grossly inflate body count too look dope, while ladies massively underreport body count to appear like a saint. The consequence is that ladies believe guys have more babes. Na lie. |
ExtraIncomes:Where in Ondo State? |
mrvitalis:You do not need to waste your time on that guy. As a kid, we went with a relative who was a salary earner and bought a Beetle Ijapa car. 3k. Since we paid cash, we even got an extra tyre (a second new tyre) and a gallon of oil thrown in. Long after 1975 o. Remember that by 1975, there was even a bit of inflation due to Udoji award that increased money in worker's pockets since a couple of years earlier. |
saasala:They already do and worse. Their common position include "All men scum, all men are dogs". In the past we were covering up the nefarious activities of women. Why? Because we thought by doing so, we were respecting our own female relatives. But men suddenly realised that men were suffering in silence. On my part, I have seen far more bad behaviour from women to men that the opposite. Guess what? In real life, most men out of shame are still reluctant to say what they go through in the hands of women. How many men will tell you straight up" I caught my wife with our BQ tenant". None. Because of ego. But Women will shout all over the place that their hubby slept with the housegirl. Whereas women shout all their bad experiences in the hands of men from the rooftops. Men get no sympathy even if they say it. Yet everybody empathises with women when they start crying, You are still very much in the past if you believe men fvck around more. ![]() Think about it: A guy can go for years without sex if he does not go out there and make the effort to woo a lady, spend money and do all the rigmarole. But a girl can stand by the roadside, be in the shop, public transport, workplace and men toast her. A woman does not need money to have sex. In fact they may collect money and other perks for opening their legs. A woman can have sex with guys her age up to sugar daddies old enough to be her grandad. So let me ask you: who has more opportunities to have sex? Women by far and don't be deceived. Women have far higher body count on the average. |
saasala:Dude, as a guy, you love your mum or sisters because they are your blood. Not because they are any better than any other women out there. That applies to every guy. When it comes to a lady you want to live your life with, that's different. There's no automatic transfer of that love. You mum and your sisters will not "paternity fraud" you. My relative whose all three kids were not his, his mum and sister didn't "defraud" him with paternity but the wife he loved did. Dude remove sentiments and see the light. If under forensic exam a woman checks out fine, great, Treat her great. But don't be "blauaeugig (naïve)" like my late relative and many other men I have seen. Men have to know this first. Otherwise you may not get to know until decades later. Too late. |
