Timba24:Please go ask OBJ. I am not his PA and not in his party. Did I support him back then? Any president should not interfere anyhow and should rather encourage constional means to address it. Oshiomhole used fewer assembly members doing his proclamation. I did not support or oppose it if the law allows it. |
TSRC:Nor mind that one. The fat guy in N. Korea is young enough to be Buhari's grandson has his fingers on nuclear bomb button. Buhari commands armed forces with inferior weapons to Boko and person nor go hear word. Which part of the constitution permits the president to meddle in state politics. The mistake of Edo is to still follow a SW party after breaking away from Western Region. Edo and Delta shouid revive the old Midwest party. Our history has shown us their tricks already. What Midwest leaders already saw in the 1940s and 50s is what SE and Midwest Igbo officers realised later in the 1960s that led to January 1966 coup. Neither APC nor PDP has the interest of our people at heart. Leave their dirty bigotted national politics to them and focus on improving the lot of local Midwest people. Before they say I hate SW, following SW godfathers means being sold to Hausa Fulani. Just like we are seeing now. |

wirinet:Well that was why Pa Awo introduced free education. Imagine he was allowed to rule from 1979 to 1987 that he died. With free education nationally. Nigeria would be a much more literate society today. Democracy is dynamic and evolves. Our politicians have at least WAEC. Most are graduates. Educated enough to sit down and formulate a cheaper, leaner and more effective system. Why can't we have a unicameral NASS with 155 parliamentarians? Scrap state level govt and devolve to local councils? Merge states into regions with one governor and DG, and one set of commissioners instead of 6 governors and 6 deputy governors and 6 sets of at least 15 commissioners. We are simply not serious to make things work. If we were, we could find ways to do it. 25 years after their civil war, Rwanda is making progress nicely. Are they better educated than us? |
banio:Lol. Local man cannot believe it. ![]() |
SoftP:Compliance is a big problem too. People just put more floors on top an original bungalow. No way it will not crumble despite "foundation re-enforcement" self-styled civil engineers or artisans claim to do. Building rules and regulations must be fully enforced. Lagos State could work with Ogun state to relocate around 2 to 3 million people say over 5 years or so. Too many areas are too bad and too many people have no business being in Lagos. Many houses need to go and large areas flattened and rebuilt with modern infrastructure and jobs. It will cost lots of money though. |
kponkedenge:This is not correct. You probably were not old enough to witness or remember it. We imported "Shagari rice" but we didn't have to beg. Countries happily shift their product to buyers. We had oil to pay back. Why beg? Though oil prices went down a bit that period, Americans knew prices fluctuate. Coming from oil boom of early to mid 1970s, we had less cash. Nigeria also now had more recurrent expenditure during democracy then too. We still need to cut cost of governance today. We probably allowed too much import even. Even today despite banning lots of things, they come through Seme, only to cost more to buy in the market. As of 1983, many people in rural areas still grew subsistence rice just like cassava or yam. I knew many communities where imported rice were frowned upon then. Rather, Ofada & Ekpoma rice were very popular. I certainly preferred local rice as a kid. Look, as for democracy, until 1999 till now democracy never had time to thrive. 1959 to 1966 was not a long time. Also 1979 to 1983 wasn't long. First & Second Republics were too short. Still, UPN introduced free education in States they controlled in 1979. The predecessor, AG, did same in colonial SW. You cannot imagine how it gave SW educational advantage till today. IBB and Abacha's military regimes were super corrupt. The worst by far. A bridge built or some road or infrastructure done by individual governors with some decency cannot atone for it. Remember it was Okotie-Eboh (Tafawa Balewa's Finance Commissioner/Minister) who brought Julius Berger to Nigeria. And began building Eko Bridge in 1965. It was a civilian govt. That was the second Bridge after Carter Bridge built in 1901. Despite Okotie-Eboh's alleged corruption then o. Democracy is a less evil form of govt. It can work and gradually correct itself if allowed to evolve. It evolves even quicker in places where people are not too docile. Our docility has allowed political mediocrity to fester since 1999. |
A fair comment from Ghandollar. Still he shouid be jailed for gross and quantum corruption. |
madmadu:Lol. They do not want any transparency. If they did there are many options. Including option A1 of Prof. Nwosu in 1993. No need for too much gadget. Announce results right away. Polling agents and party agents can easily do it together. |
Eyes opening. |
DREAMZZZ:Middle Eastern sheikhs pay a lot o. Millions of dollars for private birthday shows. MJ, Janet Jackson and others made a mint with those guys. Whizkid can easily command 25 to 50M nowadays. Especially those shows part-sponsored by big firms like Telco & banks. |
thesicilian:Dude, you need to understand use of words better. Your are local to where you live, irrespective of status or wealth. Musa no longer lives in Bukuru and not local to Bukuru anymore. His old friends and neighbours who still live around there remain locals. Whether they also now have lots money or not. In that same Nigeria, many who have made money in Lagos, Abj or PH do not go to their village or poor areas they grew up in anymore. Same with some Nigerians visiting from abroad. They are afraid of "village people". The poster you quoted just contrasted Musa with many people who behave as I described above. |
Ibegtodiffer:Buhari banned Nigerian Medical Association as a military dictator back then. So he can more than do so and worse. |
Formularcr7:Still, he's obviously super intelligent. To have got the perfect score. Even with assistance, most will still not get it this good. From experience long ago, the boy is just extremely good. If not he would have slipped in at least one subject like English. |
Cool |
Commendable but there needs a lot more done. Not just ad hoc action like but a strong remonstration with SA govt with a threat of devere economic and political sanctions. The life and welfare of a foreign citizen abroad is only worth the value their home country places on them. But our leaders have monies hidden in South African real estate and banks. So they won't dare. |
Hmmmmm |
Avedonn:If you can answer how Nigeria lost its glory, you will know how NTA did too. |
whela:The bride is probably Arab. Hence Syrian mosque. Maybe the father wanted it done in his local mosque. That's lots of money, business and influence to that Arab family. Soon they will be frolicking with the elite in society including Buhari. |
Klington:Actually this award is to Nigeria for the role in ending their civil war and rebuilding. You know Nigeria is very good at doing "bigmanity" outside. You can never know what they give to assist Liberia behind our backs. Money, cheap oil and gas, technical assistance, etc. Nigeria is like a useless dad that "form" big man outside and leave his kids hungry at home. |
Ok. |
psucc:They will call it coup attempt. That snipers were waiting around there and wanted to also hurl grenades. They will liken it to Murtala Mohamed assassination. They will quickly organise/threaten some innocent people to confess to being the snipers, complete with rifles from army's armoury. Nor be 9ja? |
psucc:Ordinary COAS Buratai Shiites blocked his way and they want to wipe them out & proscribe. Head of State/government nko? Zoos have more civilised creatures than 9ja leaders-looters. |
Lol. |
Touching story. |
I see. |
Good one. I Wonder why Innoson is not widely bought by govt at all levels. Maybe it will make it less easy to inflate cost of buying the cars. |
Proffdada:Many people from that part of Niger Delta have oyinbo names. Kate Henshaw, Goodluck Jonathan, etc. Very common. Shan's father is British too. |
Proffdada:. |
Esseite:Kikikikiki. ![]() Which universe are you from dude? You are still talking as if Nigeria is ready to make any progress. Is Nigeria doing anything that looks remotely close to Malaysia, Singapore, China or any serious country? Las las they will call you Ipob youth even if you Fulani. Berom or Kanuri. Then followed by wailer. Nigeria don cast. No remedy. Only a gradual but inevitable disintegration remains. And it won't be pretty. The docility of Nigerians has made the elite take everyone for granted to perpetrate impunity. This attitude has ruined great nations and empires before new nations rose from the ashes. |

So because he now has a little money, the friends he grew up with has become "locals"? That's the mindset that makes many people become proud because of a little wealth.
