Pavore9:If true, bankers here are just doing daylight robbery. I am convinced the late clients assumed their loved ones would be informed if they died. You think a man who worked hard would prefer bankers to inherit their money instead of their own family? If that be the case, a warped banker can organise robbers to kpai a rich customer whose family members are not aware of his money in the bank. If the banker knows that fact. That so called "unethical" to tell his family is just poo. If a businessman borrowed huge money from a bank without his kids knowing, if he dies, would the bank let his kids inherit the business without asking to recover the loan? Of course they won't. When it favours them, it becomes unethical. That "ethics" stuff only applies when the customer is still alive. NASS should address issues such as this by passing a law compelling banks to inform family of the deceased. But they are too busy packing money to care. @Op, do not insult people about something you don't know. Trust is a big issues these days. In many countries including USA, people are killed daily over inheritance, life insurance money, etc. In Nigeria, some even self-kidnap to get ransom from or organise kidnap of "stingy" rich relatives. So do not blame them. |
OK. We dey wait. More saga to follow. |
Amuocha:Abi o. At least there will be a govt. Currently we have no FG. Just a head of state and VP. FEC is the govt. |
Rip. |
Recruitmentedu:Come, who will enact such a penalty? The sale people with their hands firmly on national cake? And who will enforce it? So people who can collect little bribes will not collects millions to kill corruption cases against high value looters? Lol. ![]() We are in serious trouble. Without a serious root and branch revolution led by people burning with genuine national passion and patriotism, I see no way out. |

Pure intimidation here. How will other "victims" ever speak up if relatively well off people like the Dakolos can still be intimidated this way? Fatoyinbo may well be innocent but law enforcement must not appear to be partisan. Investigation should be even handed. |
maasoap:Cocoa House & University College Ibadan were not built with oil money. The progress the North made in the First Republic never come from oil. The Eastern Region & Midwest also made progress. FG can still have offshore oil. |
The worldviews of the North and the South are polar opposites. Very different priorities. Progressivism against Conservativism. A free modern society similar to the Western World against tight control of societal norms like Middle Eastern Wahabism. Seeing eye to eye will always be a problem. The only way out is true regionalism. With high levels of autonomy. But the North sees that as a dilution of the current hold our current quasi-Unitarism masquerading as Federalism. |
niaralandtopuser:Even people escaped from Alcatraz in California. Though not known if any of them survived crossing the water to mainland. It can happen anywhere. Though much easier in places where corruption is more acceptable. |
Too old to be a threat. I was expecting a wheelchair bound old man relying on oxygen mask to breathe. Na wa o. RIP. |
Youngpo413:True. But when something as serious as marriage is concerned, better not to live a lie. The bitter truth before taking the plunge becomes necessary. Will a disloyal girlfriend make a loyal wife in ALL circumstances of life? Very unlikely. When you fall on hard times anything can happen. |
Quite possible. Injury inside the mouth might provide a route to spread. |
Biglittlelois:Well most women claim that it is men who cheat and like sex the most. So Leo is just setting the record straight. I have said it many times here on NL that considering the rigmarole and expense men go through to bed a girl and sex being free to women, obviously women have more cheating opportunities. Consider also that up to 40% of firstborn kids and over 30% of all kids belong to another man. And only a small fraction of sex results in pregnancy. Also consider the many pregnancies that are aborted. So in general lots of modern women are rampant and prolific CHEATS. I cannot count in recent years how many weddings have been called off when guys decided to snoop on bride-to-be's social media accounts before tying the knot. So much heartache, shock, pain and tears. Unemployment of husbands and boyfriends with poor economic situation is not helping at all. |
SocialJustice:She had a child long ago. Grown up now I think. Same with Genevieve. So I heard o. |
Tunagee:Well, a wise woman builds her home says the Bible. You cannot build your home by making your mother call the shots. It never works. Some mothers are natural control freaks, unwilling to set the kids free. Op you need to explore how ready your wife is to continue with the marriage. In your post she told your mum to give her time. Time to do what exactly? To see if you will land another good job? To enjoy money from the job she did not stick around to give you moral support to find? If I was in your position, if I land a good job I will not disclose it. Just to see how things pan out. While mending fences and moving on is great, will moving to mother's house anytime times are hard become a recurring decimal?? |
selemempe:TONI Braxton is about 51 years old now. Years older than Kate Henshaw. So not a girl anymore. |
Very bad. May she return hale & hearty. |
openmine:Nor mind that Coutinho guy. They should sell him for 1 million Naira to Eyimba. ![]() He was nearing the very top of football elite when he left EPL best club of all time & European football royalty club (YNWA) to join Barca as a bench-warmer. If I was at PSG, I'd happily take Dembele & Rakitic anytime. Although honestly Coutinho still has about 6 years of good football left while Rakitic is already over 30. As soon as he left Liverpool, Champion's league glory came. Same happened to Michael Owen (he left for Real Madrid) in 2005. |
Fountainofyouth:Did you say entice? How? Lots of women are just out there looking for "comfortable men" and economic security. Period. How do you exactly know that a girl showering you with love is doing it for your money only? Yes some settle for less comfortable men when panic sets in due to age/pressure to marry. Women should try to be honest in cases like this. Its not about defending one's gender every time. Look, if 60% of what OP said is true, the wife and the mother weighed up Op's economic situation leading up to the marriage. They never reckoned with losing his job one day. Which serious mother encourages her daughter to stay away from her marital home when not under threat to her life and welfare? From the way life currently is, every responsible man should try to be economically stable before marriage. Because let's face it, without a decent income only very few can find love and marriage to be relatively peaceful. Unless Op is lying to us, the marriage has just experienced its first difficulty (money) and the wife is not there to stand by her hubby. Look, a large number of women, both wives & gfs, begin to exhibit strange behaviours when money is tight. What you never knew they were capable of. Exceptions are VERY few. Your other suggestions to give it a try is commendable BUT the marriage is not looking good long term. Because most marriages face several challenges. This is barely surviving the first major one. Only the kid involved makes it worth trying to resuscitate, otherwise it's not looking great. |
Organs:Well when you come to parliament to answers any questions or be screened, it is doing so to address the masses through those sent there as parliamentarians. No citizen whatever his achievements should ever be considered to big before the people. Not even the president or prime minister. This is is common theme across all successful Democratic countries. |
Jchi9876:Yep. Exactly my point. But the vast majority of cases are not decided based on technicalities. The norm is that the justice system / prosecution body get their acts right whereby cases are decided on merit or lack thereof. Eyinnayan Abaribe's question centred on two conflicting statements by the Supreme Court regarding technicalities. One seeming to support the weight of technicalities and other seemingly against. What I expected the CJN to highlight is something along the line that each case is decided on its own merit and how relevant or consequential technical errors, omissions or commissions in each case are. The above might seem self-evident but what Abaribe and the masses need is reassurance from the CJN. It was an opportunity to display his acumen and debunk insinuations of his selection being based on ethno-religious affiliations. |
kunmiiii:The law was always meant to be strictly interpreted anyway. That is why it has to be beyond reasonable doubt when convicting. |
Jchi9876:But technicality is not the basis of law in normal circumstances but credible evidence. Unusual procedure could be collecting evidence from an accused's house without a warrant. Evidence found in the house, however credible and overwhelming on its own, might be deemed inadmissible. The case might still be dismissed based on lack of evidence. This is an example of technicality prevailing where the procedure/process used in collecting evidence was unusual to the norm. |
I am not a legal expert. But from my understanding, I thought technicality broadly relies on one party in a court process using an unusual procedure or perceived anomaly to overwhelm and discredit other otherwise powerful evidence or grounds in favour of another party. It could for example be that the charge/case was filed wrongly, error in collecting evidence, etc. Even though the case and or evidence themselves would have merit if they were presented following due process, etc. Let the experts please enlighten us. |
Lol. Very funny people. ![]() |
Yet jobless graduates from okokobioko polytechnic will be here displaying bigotry and defending the looters. |
Lol. He wan do bad boy. But he forgot one cardinal rule: No right to konji without mulla. ![]() |
Herdsmenson:Obi seems to be an Igbo variant of Oba. Ovie, Orodje, Onojie, etc are clearly renditions of Ogie (Benin language for Chief but can also mean King) in other Edoid languages like Isoko, Urhobo, Esan, etc. Emphasis on Benin because there is nothing like Bini language. Despite correction from the Oba and Benin Traditional Council for decades now, people still wrongly feel the urge to write BINI. Wrong. Even Benin people who are supposed to know better. From 1752 to 1897, Ubulu-Uku (called Oboro in Benin) was part of Benin Empire. It was a vassal chiefdom before that but still had relative freedom. Like many vassal lands of Benin then. But in 1752 Obi Olise of Oboro abducted and killed the beautiful daughter of Chief Ezomo (Commander of Imperial Army) of Benin. Her name was Adesua. Adesua had rejected Olise's advances in Benin when he came to pay homage and tribute to Oba in Benin. Ezomo had hosted Olise in his Ezomo Palace. They were friends of sorts. Adesua was a businesswoman. Olise deliberately bought lots of goods from her on credit, being friend of her dad. It was a plot to lure her to Oboro as Olise kept refusing to pay. She finally went to collect the debt. There she was kidnapped by Olise who was infatuated with her. To make things worse, Adesua was betrothed to Oba Akengbuda of Benin. Oba Akengbuda demanded the head of Olise on a platter in revenge. His head was duly delivered after conquering Olise and his soldiers. In a Nollywood film telling the story, Olu Jacobs acted Chief Ezomo and Segun Arinze acted Obi Olise. |
Well, Southerners in the North cannot say they have not had enough time to relocate to South since. Since at least Boko Haram Yusuf time. Over 10 years now. Lack of safety of Igbo in the North in the 1960s caused the civil war. The safety of nobody anywhere in Nigeria should now make goes separate ways. Simple. |
ednut1:Ok Mr Pope. What are they then? Hare Krishna? ![]() You are just saying what some Muslims say about Shia. And see the problem it is causing in Kaduna. Is it not funny to see dudu people discriminating against themselves over borrowed religions? |
