Well, large countries/markets do not sign free trade agreements anyhow. I am not a Buhari fan but he's right to consider it carefully before opening up our large market. Most African countries are still poor. Unless we can penetrate Egypt, SA, Morocco, Algeria, Namibia and such markets with our goods & services. Ordinarily if we had good power supply and a booming industrial sector, we should be rushing to sign such an agreement. But we don't. As it is we may be flooded by Egyptian vegetable, Rwandan toothpick, South African everything, Moroccan medicines/drugs, etc. |
bettercreature:Wrong. Romania was a communist country when these kids were born. Or Communism just ended and still poor. Until they joined EU like 14 years back. Women from Socialist block found it as a privilege to live in 9ja in those days. Many came to 9ja with their 9ja hubbies (who went there to study then). From USSR/Russia, Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania, etc. They had the freedom to travel all over the world from 9ja & enjoy Western goods imported into 9ja, something rarely possible in communist countries back then. It is fairly recent that white women do not stay with their half-caste kids in 9ja. When 9ja economy went down. Suddenly oyinbo women were divorcing their hubbies and returning abroad. Because hubbies settled into lecturing, civil service, military and other jobs would not quit to return abroad at age around 45 to 58. My street & neighbourhood was full of half-caste kids and Asians growing up. |

Gbire111:He's not confused. From his careful albeit rambling analysis he knows what he's doing. Someone who can trivialise the situation of Leah Sharibu is twisted. He wants to use anything to justify extreme version of his religion. It is beyond being insensitive. To compare some who knows the law (at read she read law) and the secular nature of our Federal Judicial system, yet refuses to obey the established secular rules of NBA with a kidnapped teenager, shows the spread of radical ideas among young people. It shows that gradually but steadily the current youth will have have religious issue to battle with in this country. It might just be the cause of disintegration. |
Lukgaf:Public institution in a secular country. Is Boko Haram also a public institution? Did Leah Sharibu apply to join Boko, spend 5 years training, paying fees while knowing all along that she will have to convert to Islam at the end? Did anyone ask Amassa to renounce her faith? This is how Sharia law introduced in the North paved the way for Boko Haram. The way you guys tend towards extremism is frightening. This foolish comparison is a subtle sign of it. You will all regret this extremist attitude. Boko & other potential extremist groups brewing will decimate the North first. |

Flokey:Oh boy, na your missing short sight correction glasses you need to find first o. ![]() |
Very funny that Linda who makes a living poke-nosing into people's private lives cannot give us even the most basic news like engagement. |
So she finally settled for plan C (yes, you OP). A woman doesn't refuse a man for so long. She had eyes on others. But competition is stiff out there. Now she got her reserve guy. Just ensure she's not pregnant before saying yes to you. Because about 35% of firstborn kids belong to another guy outside (sugar daddy, married guy or another bf who just refused pregnancy). So women can be devious these days. Congrats. |
Sirjamo:Not all Igbos, in fact very few. Read the Cables write-up posted here earlier today. Nonetheless it is not a bad idea to listen to the message irrespective of the messenger. |
People forget that this lady is in a sub-culture where open promiscuity and teenage pregnancy to claim housing and welfare benefit is normal. The more kids out-of-wedlock you have, the better. But later in life this lazy & myopic view creates problems: as a large number of the kids so produced continue the poverty cycle, go to prisons, poor education/job prospects etc. Then they end up blaming white folks and the likes of Donald Trump for it. |
Ok. You have a lady who cannot say sorry. She does only what she wants. Basically refusing to let her drive could have caused agro between two of you. OP, I hope you can finish what you started o. Now we know why there are so many deaths on our roads. And the poorest of the poor (like the okada passenger) end up being killed or maimed. Here you are complaining about expenses. Abeg go buy sense. |

deanoffaculty:Correct! I saw one Youth corper doctor with similar shoes as a kid. One gentle SW guy like this with bushy hair. He was doing community health. Going from house to house sweating like a pig. He looked older than 30! His clothes and shoes had seen far better days. I listened to his chat with my dad. My dad being very chatty, 90% of their talk had nothing to do with illness or health. The corper doc narrated his ordeal in medical school & the long road still ahead of him despite carrying the title "doctor". Then I came to understand why he looked older. He must have been close to 30 though considering the long strikes that always plagued 9ja universities. The guy suddenly said "if your son here should consider becoming a doctor, oga, if you can make sure it is not in this country". Well, it was probably the most genuine and best career advise I ever got. I was about 9 or 10 years old! Look beyond clothes and shoes. A diamond in the rough might just be underneath. |
Jaykolo10:When Bill Gates saw all the ostentatious flexing of the elite in the midst of so much poverty, he must have pitied the black man for our mentality. People spend so lavishly, yet Bill & Melida Gates Foundation supply us polio vaccine. Gates needs nothing from our leaders. He has made his money, so he's not afraid to say the truth. |
And the money some of the girls were dropping came from boyfriends and sugar daddies o. ![]() See wealth redistribution. ![]() But why would people throw money at a well-off actor? They were setting trap with a goat hoping to catch a leopard. ![]() Mavrodi is dead. Long lives Mavrodi. ![]() |
And women claim men are the ones who cannot do without sex. |
OK. Doing great business while pregnant. Beginning with 5k under 5 years ago? Hehehehe! ![]() How many people has she mentored in this her " 5k business"? Why do I have this feeling that her baby daddy may be one politician looting or that already looted our commonwealth? Let the man's wife catch you with this your publicity. Na acid she go take baptise that your face. |
If we produce our own food locally, there will be no need to ripen with carbide. Most likely they are imported fruits. Very sad that people value money more than human lives. |
Chukazu:9ja is a jungle. FG is almighty: DSS, EFFC and others can be used to harass them and their families. They do not have to be guilty. Only the NASS (combined, not individually) has some power against it. |
nonix22:Dude the guy qualified as an engineer and became a lecturer in Nigeria. He also has kids that are now grown up. How is that waste of time in Europe? Do you mean that those who return to marry in 9ja never divorce or become widowers? Unless you have been married for about 40 years, you cannot 100% say you know how your marriage will pan out. FYI, I did not marry anybody abroad for paper or anything else. But still I cannot claim to be wise like King Solomon for my choice. It just happened to work out. Other did what looked best for them at the time but didn't quite work out. |
jeronimo:Lol. |
kimbraa:There are older men better than modern young men reared on indomie, fatty/salty food with little physical exercise. I can tell you for a fact. What clinicians see is different from what people think. Take all those randy lecturers and sugar daddies all over the place. Most are not under 50. ![]() |
new2012:Some people in noble professions are a disgrace to their professions. But then again you're shaped by the society you live in. Only very few exceptional ones can rise above it. Even if the lawyer cannot persuade the parents to let it slide, his crude manners just added insult to injury. Certainly not in the interest of his clients/school to be dismissive of the legitimate grievance of the parents. |
overdrive:A child of 2 has no business going to any school. We need to get our priorities right. And no business going on excursion at that age if parents cannot be present. In 9ja we like to form "posh". In serious countries parents fill out a form to consent, refuse outing and inform about any medical conditions of the child. I know that should the parents refuse in a place like 9ja, the school might not like it all. Respect for individual rights is poor. A good school is not all about beautiful school building and aping Western stuff, but the ethos of those running the school. Refusal to inform the parents IMMEDIATELY already shows their moral bankruptcy and propensity to pervert the course of justice if the worst had happened. |
Pathetic. No health & safety standards. A very careless environment. It could have happened to a child too. Somebody needs to face the music. RIP. |
Great culture. Hope it is preserved. 50 years from now culture/tourism will be a bigger income earner than petroleum. |
LordKO:How many people actually negotiate and close those deals at odd hours you're talking about? If you are not a politician or a top businessman, you're only just talking big. In the same developed countries you're referring to, top guns of business close deals over lunch, dinner (can be from around 3 pm to 11pm) or even in yachts or villas in some islands and rivieras of this world. Those big men you allude to largely have families too. And most know the value of work/life balance. Just so you know I am a fairly well-travelled person. As a young man clubbing on weekends and parties were normal. Just for fun. I would never have stayed so late out in 9ja though. It has been a dangerous place for a long time. Nor be today armed robbers and money ritualists start. They only just got more desperate and brazen these days. ![]() |

kikiwendy:The church they are currently attending, let the "Daddy GO" close that one first. What will make the new church worse than the one they already go to. Church is a free for all. Like anybody can hawk Lacasera. No regulation. Noise everywhere. One more will make no difference. To me the wife is disloyal. She has no cogent reason to stop her hubby except that she's more loyal to her daddy GO. Why would she want to remain a servant to one GO than support her hubby? Could it be she wants to remain close to a guy in the church and do so without suspicion since her hubby is seen with her in church?? |
Both sides were experimenting. |
