I do not think being a lawyer is the issue. Lawyers have excellent transferable skills and are quick learners. Boardrooms are full of lawyers, engineers, medics, historians, etc.

It is Nigerian set up where proper job delegation is poor. Seasoned civil servants with requisite expertise run most departments and advice the ministers.
But in 9ja, experts are overlooked & relegated. Career politicians & acolytes are drafted in. People in power are power-drunk and do things at their own whims and caprice.

Actually healthcare is a big problem in 9ja. Nothing abnormal about Nollywood patients. It is happening to thousands of Nigerians. Because they are not famous, they suffer & die in silence. How can anyone who actually ever lived in Benin not know of any occasion the Oba has attended, like Oba Akenzua Cultural centre, Benin Mosque, Holy Aruosa Cathedral, some out of state visits, which are sometimes televised?

How for example does Oba accept to be the Chancellor of a major Federal university and not honour their invitation to be installed?

True. But one irony I discover after my car theft episode is that gun point car snatchers are easier to be caught because most are armed robbers not professional car thieves. They don't usually have the plan and expertise of how to 'push' the vehicle.

Your cardiothoracic surgeon (a specialist) uncle might be raking in $650k per year, but the average family physician does not.

Even just 10 to 15 years ago in UK, many were still doing it that way.

Just over 70% of American population earns less than $50k per year. About 91% earns less than $100k per year.
