otukpo:You sabi am. I will pick up the tab for your favourite drink. Cheers! in advance. Implication stage. So that they can be accused of sabotaging FG efforts because they didn't get what they wanted (ambassadorial nominees being rejected). ![]() |
Cutehector:Not necessarily. I think it's an old habit of his. Maybe he was hiding it when they first began dating or newly got married. So the lady is not responsible for it. Most men with a poor marital sex life don't do porn or jerk off with reckless abandon. They seek a solution together. It's like those addicted to prostitutes. Marrying Miss World will not stop them. He must be willing to stop and man up with much determination. I can imagine the bad effect of this on their conjugal life. |
My brother, it is well. Keep your head up. You have your life. You have skills and ebergy. Gid will provide. Our brothers & sisters in Dubai should please advise. CC JustineforJesus and co from Nairaland Travel section. Please advise. |
Mama on point. She nor wan old o. Why should she not? At this rate she will be doing this 50 years from now. Dementia has no chance. ![]() |

How long has it been used in Nigeria? Can we see pics of all the 3 rows of seat inside? Lagos cleared? |
RIP Mr Chiazor |
jasent:So it is the business & tithe collection centre you attend that is a real church. Inferiority complex darky. That Cathedral exists for 500 years when your own people had never even heard of Christianity. |
jasent:What did Abraham kill after God told him to spare Isaac? A snake or a ram? People quick to condemn anything African because of inferiority complex. Yet you're nobody after all the copycat you do along anything oyinbo does. Next thing being gay will be your new fad because oyinbo do it. |
VampireeM:No o. It must enter 9ja lexicon of "what a leader should not say in public". ![]() It was even analysed on BBC webpage by Elizabeth Ohene. |
No surprise. Buhari has never known how to carry people along. He's a master at alienating people. |
See strategic partnership. See how the elite are consolidating themselves across the country. |
Excellent. Kudos. I hope somebody will do something reasonable. All those money miss road will not see this girl to reward now. If it is some half-unclad bimbo now, they dole out money to her. Hope with time, she goes on to do MD or MS and disseminate her knowledge to the next generation of medics/surgeons. |
PiccoloBrunelli:What wonders me is that these girls who work hard are very set, cute & every in a woman compared to those lazy ones with yam leg and all. Why? There is hope that some day women will surely have the equality & respect they deserve all based on merit, not on sense of entitlement. |
Qmerit:I did not o. I said Benin. I happen to know that Onojie of Opoji is the vice chair of Edo Traditional Council. Ateru of Auchi, Onojie of Uromi, and many more prominent ones are there too I am fine and you? |
adanny01:I can see you are ignorant of the law. An underage girl cannot elope with a grown ass man. Because she has no capacity to. I know 9ja is full of paedophiles and they will not understand. The grown up has to refuse even if it is the underage person's idea to runaway. Because she hasn't got the maturity to decide to elope, so any such decision she takes is invalid before the law & has no mitigating effect on the weight of the law that will fall on the culprit. Do you now get it?? The only thing that will matter is if the grown up can prove that he genuinely & honestly believed that the the girl was a major. For example, in combination with a grown appearance & behaviour, social media accounts & documents also show the girl was using false age like 18, 19, etc. |
Qmerit:It seems you have problem of comprehension. What is difficult in understanding about Benin? We are not in time before creation of Edo tate when Edo & Benin was used to mean exact same thing. And I am not writing in Benin Language (not Bini as many erroneously write despite much correction by Oba Erediauwa) in which Edo still remains exclusively to describe Benin people. So what is your confusion? Where is the statement that Ewuare II issued to other members of Edo State Council of Traditional rulers? What were the exact words? Read my posts on Benin here for the past 5 years. Then you will know. |
Qmerit:Let them be forming oyinbo. Let him go build his even house without paying local youth fee, aka omonile dues and see na. Much less a traditional ruler with ancient rules that has become culture. Which person in Benin does not know that burial ceremonies with music & dance are not done once Oba's demise is announced? Anyone who doesn't like it can move to Sambisa or Maiduguri or any damn place they want. Without his/Oba's ancestors defending the land against Jihadists centuries ago, the area would be Uthman dan Fodio's territory now. |
Qmerit:Which kings did he summon? There is only one King in Benin and areas directly under Benin in modern times. Others are Dukes, Chiefs, Ohens, Okaos. Only former dukes like Olu of Warri, Eleko of Eko, now outside Benin influence that are now called Kings. So which kings did he summon? |
Felixtuta:I guess most was moved when the faced the huge fine that was later reduced. Maybe to prevent govt blocking it in 9ja. Chai! 9ja don suffer. And the Saint minister Buhari was the mastermind. Na wa o. |
Abujapropertyag:Any pictures of the area for 1.5m per hectare? Plus how much will it then cost to fully process C of O? |
nice |
Qmerit:Well, when Ewuare I ascended the throne in 1440 AD, he brought in political & societal reforms that that were for the time quite radical. With time, he built an empire & is generally considered Benin's greatest Oba yet. So taking the title Ewuare II is laden with a lot of meaning. Reforms will be radical, even with the limited power traditional rulers now have. Within the ambit of traditional powers. Now, beer parlour rumour is more popular than truth on Nairaland. While an Oba can encourage & urge people to do things in a certain cultural way, outrightly forbidding individual things is not the norm in modern times. Oba ceased to be political head of state in 1897. Night burials were never really forbidden. In villages night burials remain normal & popular. In November last year, for an old relative who died & was buried in the village, one dance was in the day (because her children's social clubs coming from the city would not travel at night or do night function) & the other dance was during the night which the neighboring villages came to. Only cities mostly changed in the last 20 years or so. And it has more to do with safety: security issues, bad roads/accidents and a changing society. Most people now go to church. The typical Saturday night dance into Sunday morning is not popular anymore. Night dance are now typically Friday nights. Saturday daytime dance & thanksgiving on Sunday of it. |
musicwriter:See hypocrisy. Oyinbo carted away your people into slavery too, something Benin people were largely spared of, and I hope you're walking around town with a native woven loin cloth around your waist. No T-shirt, no jeans, no trousers, no suits, nothing. I hope the device you are using to post here was carved from an obeche tree in your family yard. I also hope you had your education from KG to university in your native language & you're posting your comments here in your "aga iga uga" language. And finally, you walk from your hamlet/village or town to work. No bicycle, no cars, no train, no bus & no using aeroplane. In a hurry to conclude, you had not time to see that Oba of Benin is written in Benin language too. And aside 1170 AD, nothing else is written in English. How people can have a massive iroko log wood in their eye & point at someone's little speck is beyond me. |
iDealWithFools:Do not mind him. As if Amorc, Ogboni, cultists and others are not in other churches across 9ja. People without any remarkable history will always attempt to denigrate other people's enviable history. Ethiopians, Coptic Egyptians, Armenians, Greeks and other ancient Christian nations have their own christian church according to their customs. Benin Empire adopted its own christian church 500 years ago when most people in current 9ja had no idea what Christianity was about, for centuries to come. That a possible adherent of modern pretentious church business would cast aspersions on a church built at the time when Christianity still had a meaning is the height of hypocrisy. You see, religion "sharks" those who just found it recently. They become ignorant zealots. Benin on the other hand has had centuries of living with it & has "internalized & indigenized" it. Like other ancient civilizations. |
Talk2Bella:You are generalising. I do not know where you live but if in 9ja, maybe you should visit abroad first and truly inquire and observe how things work. On the average, a lot more African men travel abroad than women. So the pool of women to marry from is already small. Plus, if you were used to dating a certain kind of girl (beauty, intellect, carriage, whatever) the small pool might not provide that. Even though lots of those women still struggle to find a man abroad. To obtain stay permits, lots of guys marry oyinbo and a smaller number marry for love. Whether for love or paper, the divorce rate is still high. It is even high among oyinbo themselves too, so the African guy is not necessarily to blame alone. Now after divorce and yet no kids or seeing the kids is made hard by oyinbo ex-wife, would men want to potentially go through it again with another oyinbo? Also remember, over 90% of men remain very African at heart and dream of bringing their kids home one day. And of course bring them up to be as African as possible. Clearly a lady who shares a similar culture is far better for that. We grew up with many mixed race kids in 9ja those days. Their dads were 9ja men who studied abroad and returned with oyinbo wives & kids. Most were lecturers, profs, medics, etc. How many oyinbo women return home with their 9ja husbands these days? As for marrying at home and then not coming back, who does that? I know that only happens if marriage was done in absentia and the guy abroad has no papers yet. Or papers application submitted to authorities have become unduly delayed, up to many years can happen in some countries. I cannot imagine a guy with a wife in 9ja, has a job and is not ill and yet refuse to visit 9ja. From your observation, what percentage of men married to 9ja based women do that? Or you just echo what people say? At the end, living abroad is not easy. A large number remain abroad because things are rather unstable in 9ja. Many wanted to just study & return home but have remained abroad. You cannot judge a situation you have never experienced correctly & fairly. |
ok Anything not far from Papalanto to Shagamu area? |
4X4: ![]() Duke never replies. |
DLondonboiy:And your state is like California I guess. All the Abrahamic religions have not taken Africans anywhere. So stop the hypocrisy. If anything, the only thing outsiders/the West value about us is innovation of our ancestors like Nok culture, Benin Arts/Bronze/moats, Ife Arts, Nri Arts, Sungbo & others. Nobody gives a rats ass about our poorly copied version of oyinbo stuff. I can imagine that your state has nothing, historical or modern to brag about. Hotels, some tall buildings and countless noisy mushroom church business centres are not development. To begin with, 500 years ago, Benin already had a Christian King, exchanging bronze crucifixes & rosaries with the King of Portugal. Oba's church, the Holy Arusa is probably West Africa's oldest Cathedral. Where was your state then? Benson Idahosa, pioneer televangelist, that everyone is now copying came from Benin. The HQ of Jehovah's Witnesses in Nigeria is in Benin too. |
saintmark88:Hahahahaha! Chai! I blame MTN abi Etisalat or Glo free megabytes. Anyway, at least they are helping those without real exciting life get at least an e-life. ![]() |
timeman:I do not know why people chose to believe beer parlour talk than seek the truth. Oba Erediauwa toured the whole of Nigeria as a thank you tour in the early 1980s. Up to Sokoto. I wrote about it here on Nairaland years ago. He visited most Nigerian monarchs who graced his coronation in 1979. When you chose to believe rumours by those who do not know, you end up getting the wrong end of the stick. What the Oba does not do is to go to parties and minor events anyhow. Or be seen cosying up to politicians anyhow or visiting their offices anyhow or seeking contracts like some do. Oba Akenzua II rarely went to occasions, Oba Erediauwa made more outings especially in his first few years. I can expect the new Oba to make more outings early on in his reign too. Even Oba Akenzua II sometimes cruised around town in cool evenings & visited Benin chiefs unannounced if he was just passing by. Relatives attested to this. Oba is the patron of many organisations and inevitably he would attend some of their functions. Oba of Benin often attends Benin Mosque during some festivals. It has been the case since the son of Eleko Kosoko who ran to Benin during the Lagos crisis of the 1860s was given land by Oba to build a mosque on. Kosoko being descended from Prince Ado of Benin who became Oba of Lagos. Remember, Oba Erediauwa, aside his years studying law in UK, he mostly lived & worked in Nigeria. Before becoming Oba, he visited most parts of Benin Kingdom. This Oba spent far more time abroad and he certainly has more visits to do within the Kingdom now. |
saintmark88:And with your moniker, one should believe you are a saint? Another proof of failed education. Lalasticlala, other mods, call this poster to order. Also Seun Osewa should take note.. Unless you guys are cool with a lawssuit as the owners & moderators of this forum. |
