AnonyNymous: Maybe if Jonathan had won in 2015 we would have appreciated Buhari more. Not to say that his govt hasn't messed up but people aren't seeing the positive side. They're only comparing bag of rice, beans, price of fuel, etc. In a country of so called eduacted people. The ones that even know refuse to educate the uneducated. Do you know how expensive Kerosene is in other countries? Kerosene is jet fuel, and its very expensive, the government has just been wasting money to be able to provide it his cheap it is. But I know that if all these useless subsidies we don't deserve get removed, Nigerians will wake up and figure out alternative ways. Just like how we're figuring out how to grow our own rice because imported rice is expensive. I don't see any serious challenger for 2019. All the politicians I see are just campaigning based on the 'surface conditions' and not telling Nigerians the truth. They're not campaigning because they actually want to serve us, they're campaigning because they want power. We don't have democracy in Africa yet, instead we just 'elect kings'. I might likely still vote for Buhari or Osibanjo in 2019 unless I see another candidate with a well laid out plan and specifics on how they intend to achieve it. Feeding fat on the proceeds of corruption. Why won't they be fat and healthy. APC are just as bad as PDP. Just more incompetent and inexperienced. And people who are holding PDP up as a better government as those people who don't care how they get their money, where it comes from and the effect on others who are not in a position to get money. Unfortunately majority of Nigerians reason like this. And we're upset when we are labelled a nation of criminals and fraudsters. Don't look for which government is better. Look within ourselves. We are just as bad as our politicians and leaders. And I still say Buhari is one million times better than Goodluck Jonathan |

I would like to light a candle for my husband Victor Ogun, who passed away on the 19th of July 2017...2 weeks ago. He was buried on Friday. Still can't believe. Don't think I will ever feel normal again. What do I do with all this pain? I try to read, write, I pray, sing hymns, play with my boys. I have to be strong for their sake. Lord take away this pain in my heart. I will never stop missing you my darling. You are free from pain now. Rest in the Lord. |

What else can explain the fallacious mindset that a former president cannot be invited to a panel of inquiry in the nation's congress?
You idiots assume the mentality of the rogues and defend them on the basis of some primitive tribal considerations, and later you all complain about being broke, jobless, and hopeless.
Doesn't matter who in the past was summoned or not, who appeared or not.
The law supersedes everyone and everything.
Unless we accept that fact, we'll forever be lawless and backward.
And you'll forever remain lingering here incessantly arguing about trivial things while your commonwealth is hauled off in the background.
Fools. You just said a cotton-pickin' mouthful. One million likes. We are the architects of our sorry existence and things will NEVER change in this country except for the worse. If these people on nairaland are a reflection of the generality of Nigerians, then its a sad state of affairs indeed. |

Ehiscotch: I am not trying to downplay or belittle the alleged threat, but I have heard Nnamdi Kanu say the same even if not worse. Everyday war keeps brewing as a result of different agitations in parts of the country. When unrests like these happen there are bound to be audios such as these - some are released for the sake of it, others in a bid to heighten the tension. Very true. People are acting as though the hausas are supposed to smile and look on meekly. Authentic or not, every word in that write up is true. You don't threaten violence and expect others to fold their arms and look at you. Or are people claiming they didn't watch nnamdi kanu's videos where he abused and threatened Nigerians, asking his followers to kill? How many people came out in condemnation of that? |

I think the guy has a point. Even though he's just being a typical busy-body Nigerian, he said what seems apparent and what a lot of people think. Mikel sometimes looks like he's trying hard to fit in and belong. Nothing wrong with that but she doesn't seem to be making the same effort with his people. Or the naija people no like foto? Granted, family lunches don't have to include the 2 families.Just that it would be nice to see his people included in some of their pictures. You never do. It would be nice to see her in our own setting too. Doesn't he have any family in Europe? Anyway if you put your pictures in social media, you're inviting comments. They won't always be what you want to hear. Enough busy-body from me. |

You need to realize that there is more to a man's state of mind than a pretty faced woman. I could say the same for millions of Nigerian women who have been through the same at the hands of Nigerian men. I guess they're beneath your notice. The person being cheated on is a Nigerian woman. So why condemn all Nigerian women? How is that relevant now? They way we are abused and called names by our men, going by what one sees on Nairaland, Nigerian women should start to look further afield for partners. Other African men or non-Africans. Since we're so abhorrent to Nigerian men. |

Garrirevenge: PLENTY JOKERS, PLENTY COMEDY. Emeka(real name) is in Lagos, married with 3 kids and you see him locking his plaza anytime and every time in support of Biafra. Emeka recently bought two plots of land around Badagry and already the foundations to a 4 bedroom masterpiece is taking shape on that land. Emeka is from Anambra state, a single pin he owns not to his name in the village. Yet in Lagos, Emeka goes about shouting for all to hear 'Biafra or I die'. . . Musa(not real name) is in Kaduna, tired of a constant nagging national anthem from Emeka, Musa assumes a potentially dangerous identity and declares a 90 days ultimatum telling the Emeka's that all of them can leave his domain and disappear to their Biafra. Failure to do so, they would be forcefully evicted. . . Dapo(maybe it is me, maybe it is not) is falling for a pretty intelligent damsel whom he is yet to tell how he feels about her. He is worried that he as a Nigerian won't be in love with another Nigerian but rather a foreigner called Biafran. What an anomaly, for he would be needing to travel from one country into another just to see his in-laws who were once neighbors but now foreigners. . . Dapo's case is small, love they say can break barriers, although who knows how much a Biafran pound would exchange for when the time for dowry ever comes. For it is often said that the dowry to marry from that region in Nigerian Naira can make a young man hug a transformer, how much more would it be in Biafran pounds. Just hope by then Dapo won't tell the Oba of Lagos(that one that told Emeka to jump into the Lagoon) to allow him dive into the water when he is told to bring 3 billion Biafran pounds which would be about #300 million Nigerian Naira before he can marry their beautiful Abian princess. That is if they even agree to allow him after the second civil war that led to a separation. . . Musa the unknown spokesperson declaring absolute and beautiful bunkum on behalf of the entire Northern youth is already getting a warning from his sensible governor who is ordering that all such irredentist fanning the embers of tribal war in his state be arrested. What a governor, if only Emeka's governors aren't cowards and follow the footsteps of the Kaduna mallam, our unity might not be as shaky as it is right now. . . However, in my true life fiction, it is Emeka one needs to pity the most. Emeka who for once haven't held his governors, chairmen, senators, representatives and himself responsible for the neglect in his region. Emeka who thinks all Igbos scattered worldwide hold the same views as his and would point fingers to all others in a constant self-absorbing manner that selfishly belittles the pain and neglect other regions suffer too. Emeka would mostly act as if the North and West don't have poor people who have no hope. To imagine that it is this same Emeka that statistics can prove a penny of his money is not going into the development of his region(unlike Musa and Dapo who still contribute a little to their regions) screaming the most for a break up of his country is just too much palm wine taken in excess. . . Musa, Dapo and the strong headed Emeka need to come together and truly see that the problem is not themselves but those who have selfishly enriched their pockets at the detriment of their people while posing as their leaders. If only they can stop the joke, stop the comedy and the call to shed innocent blood and go after those who have held them in bondage for decades, then they can have true liberation for themselves as Nigerians and not as breakout factions acting as puppets for the same selfish greedy leaders using religion and region to separate them. . . Musa, Dapo and the ever industrious Emeka, Oya give yourselves brain today. No more jokes, no more comedy. You can unite to shame your common enemies. It is very possible, yes it is doable for us to have a united prosperous Nigeria that shall respect the rights of every man. My name is MICHAEL ILORI, and I just want to make Nigerian sense

One thing that baffles me in all this brouhaha is Igbos' hypocrisy. Where were your elders when Igbos were calling for genocide against Northerners and Yorubas? Where were you and your likes when that useless boy called Nnamdi Kanu was asking Igbos to kill Yorubas and Northerners without any provocation? I said it then that Igbos were(are) giving their support to Radio Biafra that was using war-calling and genocide rhetorics against Northerners and Yorubas but if other regions begin to operate the same hate-preaching radio station against Biafra, Igbos ll be d first people that would scream blue murder

While the rest of us, especially the misguided youth, spend our time and energy bickering, hating and fighting each other in their defence, proudly and defiantly affirming those social/political/ethnic/religious divides that were strategically instigated, entrenched and nurtured by the same politicial class. Great writing from the OP. It is such a joy to read a well crafted piece. I don't necessarily agree nor disagree with him. I'm one of those who has experienced an arrogant incompetent doctor (one of the best, we were told), who managed to leave a surgical implement in my husband's leg during surgery. It was an absolutely dreadful experience that left me with very little faith in the Nigerian health sector, including its personel. It brought home in a very personal way, the horror stories one reads or hears about in the media. That said, I experienced pre-eclampsia when I had my son in 2005 so I know the delicacy of the condition. And I cannot speak enough of the absolute professionalism and care of the staff of National Hospital that cared for me when they had to carry out a CS to bring out my 30 weeks old baby. The great paradox of Nigeria. |
