case was'nt a setup.

the dude works with TOTAL.

the first case was reported in 2012 but he was'nt charged to court by the police due to insufficient evidence.

he didnt learn his lesson and he tried the nonsense again with another girl in 2016. the girl reported to the police and the police reopened the 2012 case. both girles testified against him and boom, he was charged to court and he has been convicted.

what i do not understand was how he was able to convince the judge to allow him travel to nigeria for his wedding as he must have been on bail as at December 2017 since he had this case pending in court.

the funds that he should have used to engage a top lawyer to defend him was foolishly spent on a very lavish wedding whilst he claimed 'legal aid' for the case.

i wont be surprised if the wife was unaware of the court case or maybe he downplayed the seriousness of the case to her. she was busy 'liking and 'commenting' on several instagram profiles who featured their wedding. Heck! Even NTA covered their wedding.

they should have just done a very quiet wedding

he wont be deported as he holds a British Passport !
Thank you. People are here arguing blindly. "Racism" "framed" "because he's a black man". Indeed. This is not Nigeria where dude gets a free pass because he's a man. Learn to stop showing your asses abroad. People like this guy are giving decent African men abroad a bad name.

What doctrinal issues have done to mankind is immeasurable. My dear friend, relationship with God goes beyond outward appearance. Have u seen God before? Can you please tell me what he looks like? He created Adam and Eve clothless. No wonder every human is born naked. Look, godliness is not hair style nor style of dressing. It is character! Character matters not wears. Nevertheless, the Holy Spirit teaches men himself. Wen the Holy Spirit convinces him, he may redress. But if not who are u? Pls face ur life!
Don't waste your breath. I suspect if christians, especially Nigerian Christians, had lived during the time of Christ they would have rejected Him outright. Because he didn't look the 'norm'. Didn't have smooth skin and pampered hands and hair like the wealthy Pharisees. He lived a rough life, depending on the charity of people, sometimes sleeping in the outdoors. He had an unmanicured beard like men of his social class did. Probably looked a hell of lot more like this young man than christians are willing to admit.
It's no wonder people are leaving the church in droves. The hypocrisy stinks.

Ayade is no damn professor, please dont say what you dont know. Great icons indeed. If you are from cross river then shame shame shame on you for endorsing this travesty. I understand Mrs Ayade is a very nice woman. Very humble and friendly. So I've been told by several people. However, this does not negate the fact that her husband is doing a great dis-servive to the state and has undone every gain and achievement of the last 2 administrations.

Nigerians are funny. Underage voters or not, the truth is that Northerners came out in droves to vote their preferred candidate, while we southerners sat down in our air conditioned living rooms watching it all on telly, pressing our phones and speaking big grammar on social media. If you people like, do the same in 2019. Political strategy is what the northerners know how to do better than us. Any in-fighting amongst them will be put aside to achieve a common purpose while we are busy abusing and hating each other. The ordinary northerner in the village with his radio pressed to his ear, knows what's up and will join his vote to achieve this common purpose while the ordinary southerner can be easily swayed to vote whoever brings a bag of rice or garri. Continue fighting yourselves ehn? 2019 go do us like film. undecided

You pay for an education, you get an education. A damn good one too. Or is nobody interested in the quality of education anymore? People go to the UK to study for other reasons, not just for immigration. The British are doing what is best for their country. We have allowed ours to be dumped in the toilet. Get your British degree and move on to another country if you don't want to return home.

Sweet Sacrament divine,
Hid in your earthly home,
Lo! round your lowly shrine,
With suppliant hearts we come,
Jesus, to you our voice we raise,
In songs of love and heartfelt praise,
Sweet Sacrament divine (2x).

This generation of Nigerian men do not deserve any help. And Nigerian girls need to stop being so desperate for a man that they would literally buy him, just to stay with her. Don't ask a guy for money. Make yours and let him make his. Make everbody do him own thing. Don't fund any venture. They are not to be trusted. There are very few Nigerian men who will appreciate your sacrifice when they had little. (God bless my late hubby) They will only call you maga.

This nutter has dragged cross river state back 30 years. Every gain achieved by Donald and Liyel, he has destroyed in 2 short years. The most incompetent and corrupt governor in the country. 4 more years of this clown and cross river will be brought completely to her knees.

The best place to sell your stuffs is to connect with other Nigerians via the church. You can easily sell to them that way. Try attend any of the churches here and you are good to go.... I think winners has the largest congregation here in Glasgow.

Uni of Glasgow is on Dumbarton road, any house on Dumbarton road is good, Partick (this is about 5 - 10 minutes on the bus to the school, it is closer to the UNi so it would be on the high side), sauchiehall street (about 10 minutes but expensive flats), yoker (20minutes to the school, cheap flats), Anniesland or drumchapel (20 minutes to the school and cheap flats), duke street (about 15-20 minutes street, cheap flats and lots of blacks reside here).

To be honest, Glasgow is generally safe and very friendly people. I have been to at least 5 countries in the world (over 15 cities) and for me, Glaswegians are the nicest so far.

I never knew this thread was still active though.

Hi house. Please I need some info from people in Glasgow. What is a good area to live in near the university of Glasgow. Did some research and the rents in the West End seem a bit steep. Where is the next best place, safe and close enough to the Uni, in a cachement area for good secondary schools (I'm coming with my 2 pre-teen boys). A 2 bedroom or a roomy 1 bedroom. We can rough it for a while.
I'm also looking for a market for my business. How can i go about this? I will have braided wigs, ankara tops and summer dresses, ankara and batik button- down shirts for men ( all great with jeans), backpacks made with ankara, denim and leather mix. All for sale. Oga Justwise I'm not advertising oh!

So any help? Any advice?
Thanks All

Maybe you can use it to extort money from gullible people in your church, or they use religiosity to exploit you. Nothing more.

My dear they should be honest with us. You do not just get twins or triplets after a long TTC without assisted reproductive service. Even Sarah in the Bible did not get twins or triplets!

I should be in the position to know.

The fact they could afford to go to the US means they can afford assisted reproduction in Nigeria too.

Abeg everything must not get a religious colouration.

Telling people the truth will allow TTC couples in their church or who know them to use similar help. My pastor friend and his wife were very honest about theirs. They could have claimed miracle but they didn't.

Congrats to them.

Hi Arielle,

I'm not exactly sure how buoyant the development sector is in Canada, but I can remember reading a piece about a concentration of most of the big ID organizations in Quebec (in other provinces, I only know of IDRC in Ottawa). You may ask your friend to conduct more of her own research into this.

Nonetheless, I'll try to give you a general overview of how the sector works to the best of my knowledge. A career in the international development (ID) sector, in most places in the world, has more to do with networking than anything else. I have worked in the oil and gas sector, and I must say that it is much more difficult to start a career in ID compared to other sectors I know quite well. This is partly because the organizations (save for the big ones like the UN, the world bank etc) are considerably small. So you may understand why networking is important here. The UK isn't such a bad place for your friend to start, as there are a lot of organizations as well as charities in the UK (Christian Aid, Save the Children etc) where she can gain some relevant work/volunteer experience. From my personal experience however, I wouldn't advice her to proceed if she hasn't started the program yet.

There are a couple of postgrad programs within the EU where you spend approx two years in about two to three universities across the EU (each of the four semesters is spent in a different country), and most of them also have the possibility of spending one of the semesters as an intern in international development organizations (not small charities). During this program, your friend will be able to build her network (if she's proactive), gain some experience, learn a 2nd or 3rd language (highly recommended) and might even be able to land a job in Canada prior to landing, with her network. This is because unlike other sectors, ID work experience is global (much of the work done all over the world is similar), save for the humanitarian/emergency arm, where you require experience in areas affected by natural disasters or war zones. By the time she's done with her masters program, she'll be in a better position to decide the next step in her career/academic pursuit. Moreover, networking is also important for a career in ID consultancy, as no one will hire a consultant they don't know/or that does not come highly recommended.
Thank you for this Tamm. You're a star! I will just forward your response to her.

Hi all. Please what is the employment outlook in the non profit sector in canada? My friend is about to enter a masters program in development (I think something to do with sustainability and program management), in the UK. She plans to move to Canada after her program, do a PhD and work in the non profit sector and then start her own consultancy. Is anyone familiar with this sector?

Do not confuse the teachings of Western religion as African tradition, nudity is not alien to African tradition at all, it has never been

I want a country where Islam is ban! mosques demolish and Muslims kicked out of the country - giving them a chance to abandon their cult of course.

JAPAN has NO TROUBLE at all with Islam: 1 mosque in the entire country, 10,000 Muslims in a population of 130 million; Muslims not allowed to own property or evangelise and are deported the minute they do something Islamic, such as protesting about Japanese culture.

Can't we LEARN something from the Japanese?

Before any mod move to hide this post let's us be clear to ourselves here, I have written fact!
I agree. But we have to have a seperate country first. I used to be liberal. But this hijab matter has really shocked me and opened my eyes. Some misguided souls are talking about "rights". What rights? You trained to join a profession that has laid down rules and regulations. No one forced her. The Legal profession has rules just like Islam has rules. If you want Islamic rules to supercede legal ethics in Nigeria, go to court and advocate for a change. Instead she waits until the day, and attempts to create a HUGE fuss. She knew she would not be allowed, so what was the point of this? Mischief. To trend? For Muslims to admire her? This one has no business being a lawyer. She is not capable of objectivity and impartiality. And neither, unfortunately, are a whole lot of her fellow muslims, going by comments on social media. I'm shocked i'm saying this because i consider myself a liberal, but we need to split this country. There is just no point.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if wearing of hijab is compulsory, how come other Muslim ladies did not wear it on that day. How come a whole lot of Muslim ladies don't wear it, normally? I know several. Shall we compare this to, say, the Catholic nuns to whom wearing of the habit is compulsory and part of their prescribed dressing? But they dress according to the law of the profession, foregoing the habit in favour of the wig, for their call ceremony. Being a lawyer is by choice. Making that choice involves committing to adhering to the rules that govern it.

Chairman of the NBA? Shameful. Of all professions, the legal profession is the bastion of tradition. Dressing, mode of address and seniority are issues that are very strictly upheld. If you can't follow the law, then you should never seek to join the profession. In the court of law the constitution is sacrosanct. The laws of the land are sacrosanct. The ethics of the profession are unimpeachable. Religious laws do not apply. Leave it outside the courtroom. Someone should have advised the young lady better. She should have known all these before choosing to train as a lawyer. I hope she enjoys her 15 minutes of ignominy.

I am so sick of this backwardness and gullibility in Nigeria and Africa. Especially from so-called christians. Are you telling me that some rickety witch or sorceress of a mother in law has the power to change what God has created into an animal? Who wields that kind of power over God's creation? Why did she not conjure so much wealth and power for herself if she can tinker with a fetus right in the womb, to change it from human to animal? No wonder the world laughs at us and holds us in contempt. Europe has passed through this stage, an age of darkness and superstition. Several centuries ago, when druids and alchemists held sway. But people gradually turned away from these things and embraced progress and science and thought. If any such powers existed, they were weakened and died away from lack of belief in and fear of them. Those are the things they supposedly feed off on and get stronger. But we here, we celebrate their so-called power, further legitimizing their existence with every superstition and fear we express, in explanation for every incident. We eagerly suspend thought, questions and introspection.
It's the 21st century, people! The world has moved far ahead of Africa. Maybe if we change, we can some day see a slim chance to catch up.

You are so right. It would take massive commitment and super human discipline for the relationship to survive. I know a couple doing that and all is not really well with them. But going by the naija style of marriage, they're still together and that's what matters.
It sounds doable though, if the couple have a plan and a schedule from the onset and give themselves a limit for living apart. And adopt the 'don't ask don't tell' (and don't snoop) policy. Like someone said here, Canada is too cold. And a lot of naija babes can be pretty determined. Young guy, banking or oil money, big empty house and no madam. Done deal!
