WUdec: Lets take a common sense question into consideration.
Can someone please name a country in the world where a president hardly speaks but instead his officials speak for him or on behalf of him all the time?
Name one (besides Nigeria).
If you were told that your father moved to Kazakhstan and everytime your family gets a phone call from his number, its his friends and co workers telling you his instructions and expressing his feelings towards y'all (for 6 yrs non-stop, WHAT WOULD YOU ASSUME HAS HAPPENED TO YOUR FATHER?
I have stopped believing that Nigerians are as intelligent as we are hyped up to be. A very low percentage of us are but the majority of the population has become increasingly stupid.
Other nations would see what's happening and laugh. Becos this is the most stupid scandal known to man. And its citizens are becoming robots. They only believe what they are programmed to believe.
People spend millions to acquire education, get good jobs and contribute to the economy only to be led by a bunch of cattle rearers and farmers with fake certificates suppressing them and stealing roles meant for those qualified for such positions.
Then your society gets rape, murder, extortion, neglect, diseases, insanity and disdain for human rights while the farmers get larger bank accounts, more press coverage and more power.
Yet i never see any empowerment or ideas amongst the people or any fight to get themselves free from the system. Instead its more entertainment, more airhead celebrity worship and a constant fiend for overseas dreams.
If you don't figure out a way to break free, you will be enslaved by the current situation. Empower your mind and begin to carve out a future for yourselves. Those who don't start thinking now should expect to end how these farmers want y'all to end I suppose you've noticed only 12 likes for your insightful and brilliant comment? Enough said. |

Freehuman: This message is a reply. The comment which my argument replies was given in a Coronavirus thread . This reply is valid, factual and does not break any rule of Nairaland.
Not up to Ten centuries ago when modern science was still young, Galileo Galilei, a Catholic, was standing before a criminal court which was also Ecclesiastical (christian bishops were part of the court). Skeptical Galileo had worked on his telescope , he was not lying. He saw that there were other planets and that the Earth revolved around the sun. In his time, religion was mixed with governance and not distinct from the State of Rome.
Galileo, like other scientists of his time , was at the verge of being sentenced to death for apostasy and blasphemy. The government not only beheaded scientists in that dark age, but also hung and burnt them on stake. Why was the Father of Modern Day Astronomy, the one whose foundational argument about the solar system has led to the establishment of space organizations like NASA today, risking a death sentence at a christian court?
The answer is simple. According to Joshua in the Bible when he went to war (would be termed a genocide today) he prayed to God and the "Sun stood still". The christian court argued that if Joshua in the Bible agreed that it was the "sun that stood still" then it means the sun was the moving solar body for nothing that does not move can stand still. The Christian court also argued that David in his Psalms acknowledged that God makes sun to rise from the East and set in the West. How then could a "stupid scientist" argue that the sun does not move . How could such "fool" rather the earth revolves.
There is no doubt that Galileo was a Catholic and a christian. But there is huge doubt that Christianity influenced his breakthrough in science. Christianity wanted to alter , disrupt and hinder his breakthrough. Christianity wanted him dead for apostasy and blasphemy even though he agreed to being a Christian. What do you think would happen if he outrightly said he was not one?
That's the story you do not see. When we talk about science and religion , we are not asking whether a Christian, Muslim , Buddhist or Atheist made a positive breakthrough in science. No, the procedures of science are Universal and as long as a person of any religion , race or gender follows that procedure, he will arrive at a scientific and real conclusion. When we argue about science and religion we argue whether a telescope or a bible gave humanity initial knowledge about the status of the solar system.
When we argue about science and religion we argue whether it is a hand sanitizer (based on reason) or an anointing oil ( based on faith ) that washes away strains of the Coronavirus in our palms.

IBBG: from this excerpt, after weighing the both sides, i think Liyel imoke was the best governor cross river ever had. His projects had a huge impact on the common man. During his time we had 24 hours of clean water supply from water board. And cross river water board was rated the best in nigeria. other states sent delegates to come and study the cross river state model and replicate it in their state. Our streets were exceptionally clean, with good dumpster. But under Ayade every thing is dead. nothing is really working. Imoke was a silent worker, who didn't like to blow his trumpet while working behind the scene. It was after he left office when i travelled to some rural places in cross river then i saw his good works and was thirlled and became sorry for tagging him a sleeping governor. Out of them all Ayade is the worst. i pray he loses 2019 polls massively. since 1999 we have never had it this bad like under ayade presently. the guy is a huge definition of failure Thank you. Donald is all flash and not much substance. It's easy to deceive Nigerians who are gullible and impressionable. Everything Imoke said is 100 percent truth. The debt burden alone would have crippled an already poor state like cross river. Donald is a showman who needs to be liked. Thrives on accolades. Imoke is a silent performer who isn't interested in winning a popularity contest. His focus was developing the rural areas. Projects that because they are not in the main city of Calabar would go unnoticed and not cause people to sing his praises. Projects for the very people who needed them the most. Projects that donald would not touch.I don't support either of them and I have my own personal reservations that have nothing to do with governance. But Imoke has achieved more than Donald ever did, with much less. |

No. Marry from your socio-economic group. Simple. Same goes for men. I've heard too many sad stories. Marriage is hard enough without the added resentment of one spouse who rightly or wrongly sees ill treatment on account of the other's higher financial standing. Work hard for your own money and success and then marry someone you have that in common with. We Nigerians are too wicked to ourselves. Men and women constantly fighting over everything and hating on each other. How about in-laws who will most probably see you as a gold digging imposter?? You don't need that. Marry your kind and jointly contribute to the running of the home. Decide on who handles what: school fees, clothing, rent, feeding, holidays and recreation. If you have a project like building or buying a house, open a common account for that purpose and save into it. You can help each other out during the lean months. Worked for my late husband and I. It just takes planning, love and commitment. |

oolongtea: 5/5 the reason the most resourceful richest continent on earth is the poorest and hated is cos of the african man has chosen to not grow up. to be a leader, u have to actually lead and stop being mad at women for your own low-esteem and feelings of inadequacy as a man. if a ship came from the US to draft ppl to pick cottons as slaves in america but they get to have asylum, most african men would run into that ship and with our history with ships from the US. it is a slap in the face that they took us forcefully before and now, we beg to be taken cos we failed to prove them wrong and stand on our own feet. i have lived in and out of nigeria and i can attest that the frailty our men show extends to diaspora and to women of all races and tribes and species even sef, they sink almost every woman they come in contact with who sticks around for longer than 3 seconds.
it's a chronic state of eternal stifled man syndrome which has led to very infantile males with an extreme hatred for women and a desire to diminish them cos they cant compete where other men have competed so they try to fight for what women have. we're the only race of men who brag about trying to marry for a better life, in other cultures, it's a female thing to want a knight in shining armor to marry and elevate u, in naija, women are insulted for wanting a knight in shining armor but it's ok for a man to hustle for sugar mommy or pretend to be a 19 yr old german girl and talk dirty to fellow men for cash in the name of yahoo yahoo, yet they hate oloshos who actually earn their money.
someone here suggested going behind a girl's back to tell her mother about a pregnancy she doesnt want to keep and many ppl here think just like him, they dont even want to think of what happens to the helpless child that they're joking about. not that the child is more important than the mother, it just shows these ppl hate women so much, they're willing to subdue a girl, at the expense of an unborn child. some of the comments on that thread were just ridiculous. and they all pointed to the same thing, not one of these ppl knew the real job of a father, they just think the girl will raise the baby and the man will occasionally "baby-sit" his own child like most nigerian men do and they're ok with that as if with the state of affairs, our system of everything has yielded such excellent results.
nigerian men, MAN UP! stop being a nuisance to yourselves. the world is headed somewhere ugly and many of u will implode. nigerian women, most of u go for wealth cos nigerian men are useless when it comes to romance so stay that way, those of u looking for love, actually have standards with men and never settle, if u cant find what you're looking for in a man, stay single, u can have sex when u want, go on dates, u can even have a baby if u're that drawn to motherhood, u carry the pikin, born am and enjoy your life cos believe me, the difference between the stress of a single mother and most married nigerian mothers is very slim. what does it say about nigerian men that his absence and presence can be taken to mean the same thing? if genitals are what make a man, then a he-goat is a man too. Kudos to you, op. Well said. But they don't read, so they won't read it, more's the pity. |

Donald3d: Gbam ! People need to understand what true feminism is Here is my letter to so called feminists :
Ladies and Women, please be guided. Feminism isn't a battle against men. It isn't about labelling one gender good/evil or mediocre/superior
Personally, I am a feminist, yup ! and I am a guy ! Feminism doesn't mean you shouldn't carry out certain roles and duties, which you should.
It shouldn't make you rude and uncultured all in the name of being "strong"
Back to the issue of roles, God has made you the female folks-mothers, and there is nothing we can do about it, he gave you breasts, a womb and a passage for babies for a REASON.So, because of all these, a natural responsibilty has been placed on you as a home maker .Roles ! Duties !
Don't let your fight for equality get in the way of your duty. You have to understand that you can't get equality in everything. You have to also understand that there are so many ways you as women are even more superior than men.For example, pain threshold, did you know that women can withstand more pain than men ?, there are so many physical, emotional and pshycological facts I can pull out.
Feminism means, a man should not be given a upper hand in a job/work place etc, because he is a man !, if he is selected, it should be because he is qualified/capable
Heck ! feminism also means you as a woman should'nt be given preference because you are loaded with gigantic mulele in front of you and behind you !.Yes I am a feminist and I would feel cheated as a guy if you are chosen over me because of that, if I am more qualified than you are !.This is true feminism
Moving on, feminism also means when we go out for dinner, I don't have to pay all the time , because "I am a man", you should pay sometimes too !.I should only have to pay ALL THE TIME, if you don't have money, or I choose to, or you don't have a job.Heck !, why don't you have a job !, why don't you have a skill ! !, you are a feminist remember !.Do something with your hands and don't be a liabilty, being a liabilty only makes you an hypocrite and you are not practicing true feminism .!
Having said that, marriage is a little different, men o men !!, your wives are are human beings too, help them out with the kids when they are tired, they are bone and flesh too and they get tired !.Help her cook sometimes. But don't over do it, else you might be turned into a footstool.Respect her and appreciate her efforts, even if its her duty !.She is an helper, not a slave !.You didn't buy her, you married her ! and she married you !.Hence you are partners !
Buy gifts occasionally , celebrate her, make her feel on top of the world , even if its her duty !.
Women, respect your husbands, commend him as well, help him out when he is broke even if "he is the man of the house, and its his responsbility", even if he isn't broke, attempt to shoulder some financial responsibilities sometimes. You are partners !.Appreciate him.Don't just f**king brag about it like most of you do, when you help out financially.
Remember, wisdom is the principal thing, knowledge is light, and love is life.Combine these well and you would be happy
Donald- A fellow feminist.

I advised a lot of them that are STEM Graudates to go through Ireland, gain work experience there from the extra 2 years post study, then use the express entry to enter their “dream” country- Canada.
I did a research and I found that the number of Nigerians going to UK is reducing while the number of students going to Canada is soaring exponentially. And you know Canada doesn’t care about money but brains, plus they have realised that people are using the student route to stay permanently in canada, so they have become strict with it. You're so right about the number of Nigerians going to the UK for studies decreasing while that of Canada and Australia is increasing. And Scotland is complaining very bitterly about the work after study anti-immigration policy of the UK government. I read an article yesterday about it. Dont know how recent it is, though. Student intake from India and Nigeria were specifically mentioned. The country is losing a lot of revenue, about half of which is off-campus revenue, there is also skills-shortage due to the restriction. They feel Scotland and Scottish unis are suffering for it. I think the Scots are tired of this UK marriage, and referendum or not, a lot would rather opt out. Are there any students or ex from Strathclyde or Glasgow Unis? nextstep: We complain if oyinbo don't feature black people in their adverts or on the cover of their magazines (we want equality ba?). But then we also complain when our own feature oyinbo. Is it that we only want to see black people... isn't that racist?
Abeg this is a world-class advertisement, showing how beautiful our outfits are on different bodies. There are two oyinbos, one asian, one black, and one mixed person modeling. Her clientele are international, and reflect this mix. If the bride has oyinbo as some of bridesmaids, don't you think she'll say: OK, I know I can have a good Nigerian outfit for the whole crew"? Or if the bride herself is oyinbo nko? Because this is happening a lot more nowadays.
The designs themselves are a blend of cultures: you can see the Nigerian influences of cosmopolitan Yoruba, blended really well with European influences (French modern, English Victorian and mid-century). Her tagline is "Gracing Every Woman Around The World". What does that mean: she's designing outfits with her unique blend of post-modern clothing (blending cultures), and offering them to every woman (not just Nigerian or Black women). This is a lofty, commendable, and achievable goal. Imagine women anywhere seeing it as a contemporary and desirable outfit, on par with offerings from Italy or London. I don't see how this translates to inferiority complex. Haba. Learn to enjoy beautiful things and think about the goals of design, without looking for faults where there are none.
Instead of celebrating this harmony, some people choose the path of myopia and close-mindedness. But thanks for the outrage, now I've discovered her and will check out more of her work. Exactly. I think it's a really smart move. Even the background/decor reflects a mixture of periods and cultures. She sometimes does a lot of Nigerian with Victorian influences in her clothes. Smart woman. Not you usual Nigerian tailor. |

Romance › Re: 37-Year-Old Teacher Impregnated By 14-Year-Old Student In The U.S. (Photos) by Arielle: 5:37pm On Mar 29, 2018 |
TheSuperNerd: I have a little cousin who at 8 was almost raped by a lady staying with them as a help. This lady was in her 20s at the time and she was so aroused by this cute little boy.
Truly it is sick to get aroused by a child (someone of prepubescent age). This paedophiliac complex is truly not restricted to just the male gender. Some female folks are as guilty and this is not the first case I have heard in the US between female school teachers and young male students. There is absolutely nothing "romantic" about it.
Also, I was going through clips of American Idols auditions recently and I came across something really silly. A young man of 19 came to audition for the judges among which was 33-year old music star, Katy Perry. They asked him a few questions and even asked if he had a gf or so and along the line of the conversation he revealed to them that he had never kissed a girl before. With this, Katy Perry called him over and motioned to him to give her a peck on the cheek. That he did. But she feigned not being satisfied and told him to do it again. The 19 year old kid was uncomfortable at this but agreed reluctantly and when he moved in for a second peck on Katy's cheeks, she swiftly adjusted her head and planted a quick full kiss on his lips. Woah! The boy stumbled back in surprise and guess what... His audition didnt go too well after that kiss... Lol... Soon after he was interviewed and he confessed that he didn't like the fact he was cajoled and tricked into getting that kiss. He said he wanted his first kiss to be really special and with someone he cares about.
Why am I bringing this case of Katy Perry and the 19 year old kid up? Well it is simple... If the roles were reversed and it was a 33 year old man who tricked a 19 year old lady in that manner just to steal a kiss from her, the man would be accused of some form of sexual harassment albeit in subtle form. But now that it was a 33 year old lady (Katy) doing so on a 19 year boy, it looked "romantic" and "cute" abi??
Truly this is just part of the issues with the world today. We are so stereotyped that we would probably not even believe our 7 years old son who can boldly tell us that his aunty at school is possibly playing with his penis or something. We would say Junior is kinda imagining things. Because this is part of how it all starts.
Paedophiles? Honestly, we have them both in the male and female gender. No more stereotypical cover ups biko. Spot on! |
