mesoprogress:Well said. |
SlowlybtSurely:You read my mind. What an experience! People still travel BA? They are highly over-rated. Its not the BA of the 80's anymore. At least as far as their Nigerian operations are concerned. Have a safe journey, Ballerz. And good luck with your interviews. Let us know how you get on. |
Nairaboi:I am truly amazed. I hav e never seen such wide spread deliberate memory loss or selective amnesia. However bad Nigeria has become, it is still a sovereign nation. No country will stand back and watch when threats of that nature are made, over and over again. It is print, audio and visuals. No need to make anything up. War or voilence is never pretty. Unfortunately innocents will be killed in the process. People warned, but they were abused and called names. There are certain things that do not need to happen. Have enough lives not been lost? For what? For a legitimate right that should have been agitated for in a different and more effective manner? Where is the IRA today? After mowing down thousands of innocent citizens of other countries, including nigerians, in its violent agitations over the last several decades. Where is ETA? Chined by the Spanish government even afre revealing their arms and declaring a ceasefire. After so much bloodshed. And these groups were well funded and heavily armed. Smh. |
steppins:Crap. He speaks 100% truth. Further buttressed by the behaviour and insults from nnamdi KANU and the rest of your brothers. Its been an entertaining morning! |
She's humorous. I beg you people should stop abusing her jor. Live your own happy lives and let her follow the path she's chosen. Na her life. I bet some of you guys spanked the monkey while looking at her pictures before responding and calling her names. I know your little ways. Na wa for una. |
letusbepieces:Another misguided developer. Swallowing hook line and sinker what he's been fed and regurgitating the rubbish. Which fellow man are the Yoruba's and Hausas depending on? The igbos? Because the igbos are totally self reliant, right? The same people that have lived and traded peacefully in every nook and cranny of Nigeria. I doubt there is any hamlet in Nigeria that you won't find at least one igbo family. Some having lived there for generations. Why don't you go and live in your own undeveloped states and communities? Why do us the favour of 'developing' our land? Read, the whole country, since you people are in every corner. It is unfair statements such as this that cause people to be angry. Is it because the rest of the country is not reacting to the hateful, abusive and inflammatory speeches of your god kanu like the northerners? I have Igbo relatives. My mother suffered from the hands of Nigerian soldiers because they believed she was Igbo. She looked Igbo, spoke Igbo and had relatives from abakaliki. So they derogatorily called her Wawa. And gave her a tough time during the occupation of her village in northern cross river state. A lot of non-igbos lived through it. Or died because of it. You can never get what you want, even if it is your due and your right, by abusing a whole country. It doesn't work that way. No referendum was ever conducted in this way. |
Alexis11:Amen amen and Amen. When you sow seeds of hatred and discord, you should be ready to reap the full bounty of violence that has been created. |

Nigerians! Are people really this jobless ![]() |
goingape1:Did any catholic tell you they worship Mary? Have you even listened to a Catholic mass or even one catholic prayer? Or as usual you just regurgitate what your over-worshipped pastor tells you. I feel sorry for you people. Really truly sorry. Attend one Catholic mass and you'd be very surprised. Left to me, the Catholic church would go back to the old pure traditional catholic way, not this pentecostalization of the the mass as is being done in Nigeria. This reverend father whatever his name is, knows what he's searching for, but its not God. |
Canadianfly:Thanks for the heads up. I suspected that but my kids have been grumbling about 'Winterpeg'! How do you guys cope?? |
Ballerz:Many many thanks! I'm not a landed immigrant but planning to go as a student and I'm currently looking at schools. ( I will also have my 2 kids with me). I am between Toronto and Winnipeg because I have family friends there. I am hoping to apply for PR after school so I'm looking at the easiest province to get PR and jobs. I'm not too keen on Winnipeg because of the cold. I prefer Toronto because of the opportunities. The expense, though! And I hear its more difficult to get PR as a student in Ontario. How true is that? Any advice would be great. Thanks |
britiko:Wow thanks! This is really helpful |
maskid: I couldn't believe it either! Like water off a duck's back! Oh Nairaland!! |
britiko:Anything oh! At this point any advise would be really helpful. Canada is a weird country, though. Where you decide to settle depends on the kind of job you want. I also hear there is still high unemployment in a lot of areas. Are you in HR? In Toronto? I really don't want to go to 'Winterpeg'! |
Thanks guys for all your answers. I wanted to know what the prospects are for a PGD in HR management. I understand its quite a difficult field to break into. At my age I don't really have that much time to spend looking to land a job, or to grow within a reasonable time. I have a degree in law but my work experience (over 20 years) is in corporate communications and some HR (training and development). I'm looking at starting my own consultancy after gaining a couple of years experience. But as its a new environment, any unexpected opportunities may arise. I'm open to moving in a different but related direction. Hamilton I answered but it bounced back. |
kmcutez:Errrmmm.....you are! Here you are bending yourself all out of shape to excuse the actions of these people. Why, if not because you're from the same ethnic group, because that's what we know how to do best in Nigeria. What is wrong is wrong, irrespective of who is doing it. How can you support something as hideous as this? Your fellow has even manufactured another story out of thin air, and you support it. Stop bleeting about evidence and being objective. That's a pathetic cop-out. You people disgust me. Sick country, sick people. |
Yooku:Thanks! |
School ?? So south african blacks have started going to school?? Who'd a thunk it!!!!! ![]() |
Hamiltondreamer:Hi Hamilton. I'm wondering the same thing. I saw your post several days ago and have been looking out for a response to it. It seems HR is not popular among immigrants hence the dearth of response and information on this thread. From some eesearch , I get the impression that its a difficult field to break into. I thought of doing a PGD, but I'm getting a bit confused. Please share any additional info you may come across. Good luck! |
Poor guy! |
Nairaboi:Buhari is a very ill man. He formally hands over to his VP. Ayade is a man who only came to the office to conduct his business. He does not hand over to anyone. The incompetent idiot has taken a clean, safe state and turned it into gangsters' paradise, with trash all over the place. And no, he is NOT a professor. But a con artist. I blame Liyel for this. How did Cross River State get so unlucky |
salford1:Not to mention better quality!! |
Thanks for your response guys. |
Thanks for your response, guys. I have a degree in law but most of my work experience is in corporate communications and training and development. Some HR. I have over 20 years of post-grad work experience. The new express entry rules doesn't give any points for age bracket (45 and above). So I don't have enough points. Especially now that I can't add my spouse to make up my points. I was thinking of going on a holiday first with my kids and when we return I can apply for a study visa for myself. Then they can accompany me with their visitor's visa. Seems a pretty round about way of doing it but that's what I've been advised. You guys are so helpful |
Hello people. I hope someone can help me. I know this may not be the right thread but I saw someone ask a question about her children accompanying her but hasn't received a response. So i'm just going to ask. I am recently widowed (a couple of months). Before my husband died we had been looking for a way to relocate to Canada primarily because of our children. I am still going ahead with the plan but I would like to apply to a school as my age lets me out of express entry. What is the best way to take my children with me (they are 10 and 12 years)? I've never been to Canada but our last 2 visits have been to the US (2014 and 2015). Do we need to visit Canada first to have a better chance or is that needless expense? Will my widowhood be a problem (home ties)? I will not lie that I am still married when I am not (as I have been advised). So that is not even an option I will consider. Can someone please advise me? Also, can one use agents? I am disinclined to but it seems a lot for me to take on alone, especially now. Thanks for reading. |
Daboomb:Why not be fair? Which lady here supports domestic violence against men? Domestic violence is the same, against men or women. It is not a term coined for women alone. When people condemned it, it is condemed in its entirety. Individual cases are commented on, on their merit. Can we help it if the men don't bring their cases to the public? At least we the females won't abuse or find fault with a man who has been battered by his wife, unlike when a woman is beaten by her husband. Men are reluctant to reach out and ask for help because they feel their masculinity is threatened and so they suffer in silence. Some men are peaceful in nature and will not fight anyone, male or female. Others know the Mike Tyson wife is stronger so they don't attempt to fight her. But domestic violence against anyone is wrong, and sufferers should get help and leave the marriage immediately. Please try not to be so biased and ready to find fault with women as a lot of young Nigerian men, on this forum and outside, are. When Nigerian men are under attack from outsiders, it is us you look to for support. And you wonder why it is not so freely given anymore. Just my two cents. |
ivolt:Maybe instead of blaming God for our own failures as humans, we should fix our world that He made and gave to us perfect. Our own human foibles and failures are the causes of war, disease and hunger. We should stop blaming God for what we are doing to ourselves. |
lovinam:True talk. Poor attempt at damage control at that. Thank God she's safe |
