If you have worked for 4 months no salary you are as good as jobless. Why not quit and do something else. I can only imagine how much these staff owe based on expected salary. |

Theodarl: The title was originally for those with high level of intellect. The physicians hijacked the title because of the respect that comes with it. In time past, they were the all in all of medicine. They were the only ones who practiced all aspect of medicine as it were in those days. Now in modern medicine, it is no more so. Other health proffesionals now practice medicine in their own fields n therefore deserve to be addressed with that title just like d physicians. If a physician can b addressed with that title, other health workers with a bachelor's degree should also b addressed with that title because they all practise medicine in different fields where they r trained. Stop acting like u don't know what is attacted to that title n y d physicians cling to the title so badly they prefer it to their own names. U said phd patients with d title don't bother u. Y would it bother u? When u know u r not half as learned as he is. U think your 5 years of craming basic pathology n other medical related courses has put u on the same intellectual level as the PhD patient? My friend think againMr man I can see you love the title dr. You can have it. Secondly what do you mean by practicing medicine in your own field. A medical dr practices medicine, a nurse nursing a physiotherapist physiotherapy etc. Hope you get that drift. Nobody hijacked any title I have explained that before. The PhD holder is nor an intellectual level with me in any aspect of medicine. A professor in another field of medicine isn't on a level playing field if he meets me on my turf. Your final statement explains your desire to be called dr. The PhD guy misrepresented himself and he knew it. In his field I may actually have no idea what is goinf on that doesn't make me intellectually deficient. Hope you getting it. |
Theodarl: This is the dumbest analysis I hv ever seen on naira land. You don't even kno the difference btw the word 'Doctor' and 'Medical Doctor'. If u did, u won't post that dumb argument.Once you say I am dr xyz the person you are speaking with automatically assumes you are a medical dr at least in Nigeria. Many people don't correct that notion and also dish out medical advice to the detriment of the patient. Is this right? Let me tell you of a personal experience. A man was rushed into the hospital where I worked post nysc he came with his wife and an elderly man. I excused the man who told me don't worry I am a dr. I automatically passed he was a medical dr and taking into consideration his age I didn't probe further as he would be my senior by far. I even wondered at some questions he asked concerning my treatment plan which was glaring. Anyway the consultant comes in later has a brief description with the old man and tells him to go to the waiting room. I then asked her why? And she said he has a PhD. Now maybe this dr had started treatment and when it got over his head he rushed the patient to the hospital. What is your take on this? |
YourHealthlabs: Let's forget about why the OP wants the title 'doctor' and take his assertions at face value. You really can't confirm and prove it. He might even be a Physician or PhD himself, who knows.I can bet the op isn't a physician or PhD holder because they won't bother about the title that's already Thiers. Secondly you actually can call anyone a dr. The guy who fixes my car has a doctorate in fixing cars he calls himself engineer but it means mechanic simple. I won't/ can't sue him Thirdly the assertation of the title dr for respect was made by the op not me. |
Theodarl: First of all what do u mean by op?The very first line of my statement you quoted tells you my opinion on the term dr. Secondly what do you mean wanting a title for reputation sake? Your work would speak for you not your title. Some people prefer some residents to consultants not for knowledge but attitude. I really don't know about physicians frowning on the title dr as I have seen a lot of PhD patients who bear the title and it doesn't bother me. The title wasn't deserved by them it was earned. So once again have u earned the title or you just want it for respect which also by the way is earned. |
YourHealthlabs: Let stop banking on the illiteracy of our people to remain important and relevant. We should even enlighten them on these things.Honestly I really don't care who calls himself dr. If the op wants it. He can simply add it to his name. The area of your post which interests me is quoted above. Now the illiteracy of our people as you so rightly put it when he calls you dr who does he think he is talking to? How many people actually correct the people who call them dr and ask for diagnostic or therapeutic help. The op doesn't want the title for the reasons listed above by you, he wants it because it connotes respect. Op feel free to put up an ad. Accept my congratulations |
egift: Jonathan riding OkadaIs that charlie boy in the riders seat? |
Theodarl: Assumptions r dangerous. I have not mentioned johesu today. Anyway, I like ur use of the term medical doctors. There is a difference btw medical doctor (proffesion) n doctor(title). Nobody is claiming nor sharing ur proffesion (medical doctor) wit u. What we r saying is that the title (doctor) is not solely for mbbs holders alone in dis era of modern medicine where medicine has been diversified across many other proffesions.Feel free to call yourself dr. You haven't put a reasonable argument forward. You still haven't said why you want to answer dr apart from you like the title as it is respected and popular. I have already given advice on how to go about it. |
Theodarl: If u don't know what medicine is I will show u.http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/info/medicine/Dude if you want to bear dr without hassles there are two ways. GI back to school get an MBBS or OD. Further you education to PhD believe me when you say I am dr..... Nobody would argue. |
Theodarl: . A nurse that has graduated from the university n registered with the nursing council is licensed to practice nursing. In otherwords licensed to practise medicine in the field of nursing. Therefore should be addressed with the title DrNow this I find interesting. A nurse has a license to practice nursing IN OTHER WORDS medicine. This in other words Na wa oh! Why wasn't the license straight forward why were other words used. Why not medicine instead nursing in other words medicine or is that what your own license states. Hope your sch isn't on that list of fraudulent certificate awarding institutions that is issuing out degrees with in other words ![]() Anyway on a serious note man what are you saying? Someone has adviced you that medicine and nursing are not synonyms. |
Theodarl: The title Dr. Is well respected and very popular. The professional nomenclature for the medical doctors is physician. Every other health professional also has a professional nomenclature. Point is they can also b called Dr because they r also licensed to practise medicine. So because a title is popular and respected but doesn't refer to you, you now want it at all cost. What is wrong with the one you have now. Its not popular or respected? By who? Also what do you mean by license to practice medicine? |
Theodarl: Good question. The simple answer is this; because they r also licensed to practice medicine in their respective fields of medicine. Doctor is a title given to persons licenced to practise medicine.. If u read the above article carefully u would agree with the notionFirst of all explain license to practice medicine. Second why aren't " they" satisfied with the nomenclature their training has bestowed upon them. Why the need to pursue another nomenclature |
Theodarl: Do MBBS holders study as far as PhD level before they earn the title? No they don't neither do optometrist. Every proffesion has their titles I.e engineers, lawyers pharmacists, nurses etc. Why this sudden need for everyone to be called dr. That's my question. |
newguy1: After seeing 4 episode, im kind of disapointed in d review of d op, d show is ok n just like all d series of recent dey want to prolong n build momentum for d serie,"beating around d bush" . I cant see dis serie competing with walkin dead or true blood.finally im rating dis serie a 6 because i really dont see dem lasting more dan 2 season.Horrible series. I actually stopped at ep 3 but this thread made me get 4 & 5. Am through with it. |
What are you saying. Any health worker with a PhD is a dr. Optometrists are drs of optometry. |

McStoic: I have observed many of our so called docs here......I hereby give my award. dradebayo is the most cultured among them, though he seems to have a thing against 12 year olds. Phantom aka Phanty bobo seems to be a guy who grew up among market woman, he latter mixed with guys but try as he may, the frequent Freudian slips get the better of him......though I like him for one thing, he seems able to come to reason once in a rare while. Sainty2k3 is simply a tag along. He is that student who sits at the back of the class among bigger boys just to feel important. Say a simple thing and he will start asking derailing questions even when others have moved on to another topic. Dumodust is self explanatory, a mixture of dumbtiness and muscles, he walks around with a knuckle duster.........He will make a good bouncer to Phantom since ass licking is his exclusive preserve nay natural talent. Likita is trying to imitate what others are doing, he needs a sense of belonging just like Dumodust. Armadeo is a learner etc...... Pardon if I wasn't gracious enough to recognize you. Maybe next time. You are entitled to your opinion. In my opinion you are retarde.d |
