I think I understand what he is saying. Many a time, I have personally questioned this method of evangelism. There is really nothing wrong in preaching everywhere one goes but some method do not yield results.

The only way it can be effective is to have a team that will spread themselves round the area as the preaching is going on. Then after that, an alter call is made. They should be asked to either raise their hands up or come forward. The team will help to counsel those who responded and get their contact for follow up purpose. If this is not done, the whole exercise is a waste.

Learn to be constructive in criticism. What is a waste please? The time or resources you gave to him? Or the life you gave to him? And who told you he didn't have a team with him there?
