SLIGHT:
Another Derailed thread, the poster said igbo states are lagging behind; if u think is true or false, back up your opinions with proofs, now , why the comparison of igbo and yoruba states?? For me i think its true in terms of infastructures like bridges dams flyovers and agricultural dev.
If you do not know what to say just keep quiet.Imagine flyover.Do you build flyover just for the sake of building it?

As for dams tell me a dam in any state where the exist that has been built by the state government.

As for bridges i have nothing to say to you.You need to travel before you make statements.

As for agricultural development you may have a point.

And poster said lagging behind.Lagging behind who?

It is either the AD governors and afenifere were politically naive, tribalistic in their thinking or plain selfish to be conned by Obasanjo.
Politics › How Obasanjo Conned Afenifere, Ad Governors – Bisi Akande, Ac Chairman by asha80(op): 10:34pm On May 23, 2010
Says; *Atiku’s exit is a relief
*Afenifere leaders were dishonest
* AC just beginning its own merger talks

When you conduct an interview with an angry former state governor who was “conned” by a former President of Nigeria, a fellow Yoruba, what do you expect?
Bisi Akande, the former Osun State governor between 1999 and 2003 on the platform of an atrophying Alliance for Democracy, AD, but who today is National Chairman of the Action Congress, AC, can talk. But how do you stop a man who continues to provide invaluable never-before-heard information?

In this interview, Akande discloses, for the first time, how former President Olusegun Obasanjo dragged the leadership of the Yoruba body, Afenifere, including the late Chief Abraham Adesanya, Chief Ayo Adebanjo and Chief Olanihun Ajayi, to the floor of comic gymnastics only to leave them for dead. Obasanjo not only outwitted them, he conned them out of five state governorships (Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Ekiti and Ondo), leaving only Lagos State, for obvious political and commonsensical reasons. But that was not all Akande spoke about: He talked about the recent failed mega party moves and says the AC was never a part of the earlier merger talks. For him, the exit of Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the AC to his original Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is a big relief. Besides, he talks on the perceived offence of the late Chief Bola Ige and his assassination; how the case was eventually bungled and who to hold responsible; the crisis in Lagos State between Governor Raji Fashola and his legislative arm; how Bola Tinubu survived Obasanjo’s onslaught of 2003 and many more. Take a sampler of what Obasanjo did to Afenifere leaders: “Obasanjo refused to sit down. He greased their ego. Obasanjo said ‘I can not sit and talk to Papa Abraham

Adesanya; I must stand up; I must respect him.”
And when Obasanjo started showing signs of repudiating the agreement he had with Afenifere, the leaders went back and got this:
“We went to invite the Awujale of Ijebuland, we went to invite Bishop Gbonigi, we went to invite Bishop Ladigbolu and asked some of us who are leaders to meet with Obasanjo and we met with Obasanjo again.
“Obasanjo who said he would not sit down to talk to Papa Abraham Adesanya was unfazed this time around. He simply laid down there on his couch, sleeping, and he was no longer going to compromise”.

By Jide Ajani , Deputy Editor, & Anthonia Onwuka

Your political party, the Action Congress, AC, seems confused.  You were recently reported to be involved  in merger talks with the possibility of coming out with a mega party but suddenly some of the leading lights in your party jumped ship and decided to move on, what happened?
It is not right to say that my political party, the AC, was involved in merger talks with other political parties.  And if that would be true, it would just be true within the last one week.

I don’t agree.  It was public knowledge and the talks had been on for months but there was no denial regarding the reports in the media that a mega party was in the making with the involvement of AC?
Let me explain. It was a group of people, politicians, they called themselves mega, who invited us to come on board and we told them that we were not interested.  The reason is that we do not believe that any other political party in this country is more mega than the AC.  So, we never answered them.

Then came another group of people who called themselves National Democratic Movement, NDM.  They wrote a letter to me.

The letter was signed by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, General Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa.  The three of them signed the letter which they sent to me and tried to invite my interest in what they said they were doing.

Honestly, my reaction was that I should take this letter to my party since I am the chairman; and I did go.  I called the elders of my party and I read the letter to them, explaining that this is a letter I got from a body called NDM, and I asked ‘what do I do with this letter’.

Akande
My party said the letter was addressed to you and it is your own business, don’t involve us in it.  As leader of the party, I wouldn’t be expected to and I wouldn’t attend such a meeting.  However, some members of my party were attending the meetings of the group, not because my party believed in the merger, you know, but some members of my party which included, at that time, Turaki Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu, Usman Bugaje, Tom Ikimi, Ben Obi and may be one or two others, were attending the meetings of the NDM.

We were waiting for them to come back with ideas of whatever they think we should do. But what we decided when we went to our party was that whatever ideas these people bring back to us, our party would not change its own name and it would not change its own logo because we of the AC do not believe that any other party is going to be more mega, if there, indeed, is going to be any mega, than the AC. We even felt the word mega sounds arrogant and it started with the PDP and it led them to make so many mistakes and we don’t want to belong to that type of thing. So, we went back to our National Executive Committee, NEC, and agreed that we would not dispense with our name and we would not dispense with our logo.

Nigerians lose millions in search of diplomas

The desperation of many Nigerians to obtain foreign degrees following the derelict state of tertiary institutions in our country, has rendered them susceptible to fraudsters operating under the guise of running foreign registered and accredited institutions in the country, a Next investigation has revealed.

One of such spurious institutions which have defrauded unsuspecting Nigerians of money running into millions of dollars, is known by the names, British School of Project Management or Project Management College, UK.

The institution(s) runs programmes leading to the award of Executive Masters Certificates and Advance Diploma degree in Project Accounting and Project Management. Project Management College UK prides itself as the “Nigeria’s first project management training institute”.

Established in 2003, it has centres in Abuja, Abeokuta, Port Harcourt, Ibadan and Lagos, and also has opened shop in two West African countries - Ghana and Sierra Leone.

The institution charges fees that range from N150, 000 to about half a million naira, for a two-weekend to six months course.

ChinenyeN:
My father and I have discussed that times upon times. I already have a long-term plan of my own, which I've begun initiating. It is Ngwa-focused, but the initiative also involves non-Ngwa. Most of the people I'll be working with (at least for now) on my plan are diaspora Ngwa youth. After I have them all coordinated and we're ready to move further, we'll start coordinating with our Ngwa youth contacts in Nigeria (specifically ala Ngwa). I'm not the only Ngwa youth in diaspora with these aspirations. We, the youth, discussed it at our last convention, and next convention, they're expecting me to bring my long-term outline to be effected.

My father too is currently working alongside some Ngwa both here in US and in Nigeria, on socio-economic projects, initially for Aba. He isn't avoiding the place. He's been going back nearly every year, spending anywhere from a month or two over there. He's even been urging our national Ngwa organization to do more in ala Ngwa, and he's put forth many strategies. He just doesn't want me to go, yet.

Everything, in general, the leadership, people (both indigenes and non-indigenes), government & the police (hehh. . this is the reason for my NL profile picture). More specifically, for me, I want to visit my town, but for reasons best known to him, he thinks it's best that I don't visit my town (if he ever lets me visit at all). He would rather send me to a different, nearby town where one of my aunts lives.
I asked those questions simply because no one is going to better the lot of ngwaland except ngwa people themselves.I suggest you let your dad know that ngwa indegenes and in diaspora should do more to help the area(since he feels there is problem there).I see the way you are passionate about ngwa in general but it is of no use if that passion is not translated in something that will galvanize the indegens to do something in their own little way about what is going on there.Avoiding going there will not solve the existing problems there.

I want to believe that girls of other ethnic groups are either public shy or or are not adventorous enough to go into things like MGBN.Otherwise i wonder why an igbo name will represent states like Osun, kwara,Nasarawa in this beauty pageant.

The saddest thing, Asha is that I've never been. I've only stepped foot in ala Igbo once, and that time I was visiting my mom's family in Elayi. I was very young though. So I barely even remember the visit. . . except for a few highlights. I've always wanted to go though. I even badgered my father to let me visit, but he kept saying "no" because of everything that was, and still is going on in ala Ngwa. So 'til date, I've never been, but I'm in active communication with family over there, and they send pictures every now and then, but that's as far as I've gotten.
Ok second question

Whatever is happening in ngwaland that your dad is talking about where is the problem from.

Leadership there?

Non Indegenes there?

Government policies?

Or just general breakdown of law and order.

Alright guys i want anyone who had this experience or something similar so lay it bare. cheesy

Several years ago when i started this dating thing there was a girl that i just got and i was in year one then  wink.We started going out as normal. Now this chic will come to visit me and we would talk and sometimes play board games. grin.

However i started noticing from her 4th visit to my that she started been a bit withdrawn sad.She would not want to gist that much, films were no more exciting her and board games were definitely out of the question for her. cry . As at that time i did not know 'whatz up' sad so whenever she was in that mood i would suggest that we just hang out.I would ask her what the problem is but she would not say.

Later she would not be enthusiastic about seeing me as she would be giving some excuses why she cannot meet up with me.It was sometime later that i got to know the reason why she started behaving that way.A guy who was a brother to the girl's friend(a girl too) saw me one day and said that he overheard her sister and the girl saying that it seems i am a mugu and i no sharp at all  shocked  angry. That she came to my house and i no fit act  embarassed.

Mehn i no sleep well that night  sad.

From that time i started to take my time to read the body language of any girl i am dating before another 'mugu' would be made out of me. wink

I do not know why you say red flag, I am not African so my customs are not yours ,it is evident that for you a girl who is not a virgin is a problem and I respect that but in my country it is no important. Here people value more other things than the simple fact of dating a girl who has already been with a man in a bed. And seeing things from a different perspective, for us it is more important to know if that girl is the right one to share your life with and spend a lifetime with the wrong person is sadder than spending a first night with a not-virgin, anyway virginity only lasts that first night.
Red flag here from dayokanu does not you regarded because being a virgin. It means be careful with the internet guy.

The issue still remains my suggestion of pairlierment to me is still the best for everyone.

However if we are to get the true leaders in the different states(under the current system we have now in nigeria) we have to do away with people that try to stoke clannish flame who would want to ride on that to glory.

After all the two men that made owerri the town it is now developement and planning wise are not owerri indegenes(Ndubuisi Kalu and Sam Mbakwe) and Aba also developed seriously under mbakwe's regime.

Orji kalu is from Bende but i wonder is Bende got any meaninful developemnt under him  undecided

Micheal Okpara was from Umuahia yet his developments were more was in Enugu and and Portharcourt.
