Gunmen kidnap Federal Assistant Director in Abuja
Cover Stories Jan 14, 2010 By Chris Ochayi
ABUJA—AN Assistant Director with the Federal Ministry of National Planning, Chief Oluwole Adelana, was on Sunday night abducted by gunmen in the Garki Area 1 of Abuja.
It was learnt that the abductors drove him away to an unknown destination in his Toyota Camry car.
Chief Adelana had served in the offices of the Accountant-General of the Federation, AGF, and the Millennium Development Goals, MDGs, in Abuja, until his latest posting at the National Planning Ministry.

The incident, it was learnt, had been reported at the Special Anti-Robbery Squads, SARS, office in the nation’s capital. SARS operatives, it was gathered, swung into action immediately the matter was reported by alerting their offices in the neighbouring states.

The car in which Adelana was abducted, it was further gathered, was later discovered set on fire on the Yobe-Maiduguri road by the gunmen after the vehicle was tracked and demobilised.

However, no fewer than two persons are said to be undergoing interrogation in connection with the matter at the SARS office.

According to investigations, the Assistant Director was returning from his hometown, Idoani in the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, when the gunmen forcefully abducted him, some metres to his residence in Garki Area 2.

It was further gathered that Adelana, on getting to Garki Area 1, decided to visit a friend who lived in the area before going home.

After the visit, Adelana was about entering his car when the gunmen emerged from hiding, abducted him and drove him away to an unknown location.

The friend to the Assistant Director, who witnessed what happened, was said to have contacted another friend of theirs’ identified as Engineer Dele, who in turned called his (Adelana’s) family to inform them of the incident.

The family, it was gathered, reported the matter to the police same night. Adelana’s office has also been informed about the kidnapping.

A cousin of the Assistant Director, Mr. Duro Aderobagun, confirmed the abduction, yesterday, in Abuja, adding that his family members were worried as no call has been made to them by the abductors to either demand ransom or provide any information since the incident happened.

it could just as easily have been nigeria.
Errm. . .It seems naija's own is not as strong or instant as a tsunami or earthquake but i think that Gully Erosions and Desertifiacation are natural (a bit)

@bolded.personally(though without evidence), i share that view.i have a lot of friends from angola and zambia whose names sound igbo.it is said that some igbo slaves were settled there but the language they speak is entirely different.there is repeated occurence of thesame words but with different meanings.Congo might be the actual root of most nigerian tribes and not middle east.

that basically makes no sense. So we should wait until we have thousands homeless before we respond to situations? Or is it because Haiti is now on television everyone is now hyperventilating?
Do you know how many have died existing on mud cake diets and were homeless BEFORE the earthquake? Do you only care for earthquake victims? How many of you could pick out Haiti on the world map last week?

How many of you knew that 40% of Haiti's economy depends on foreign aid from the US? How many of you are aware that Haiti is 149th out of 182 nations on the UN HDI?

You all waited until now to send aid to Haiti?

This was as far back as 2008 - Starving people in Haiti eating mud

But i bet you all didnt care then. The whites are now doing something about Haiti now you all pretend to care.
Damn!Eating mud. shocked angry

However if haiti's economy has been 40% on aid then what is the guarantee that the aids we are to donate will get to the right source since the 40% aid was obviously wasted   undecided

January 13, 2010 at 2:16 pmWho is actually objecting to Yorubans having their own state? Only a fool will waste a bullet or agitate against separate state for Yorubas. Yorubas in Nigeria have no values. They are wasting the economic, social and political progress of Nigeria. They are sucking the blood of Nigeria with their criminal activities both internally and externally.

Nigerian fought the Biafrans because they couldn’t grow another day without Biafrans. The have sacrificed a great deal to incoporate Ndigbo into Nigeria sphere and without Ndigbo, the economy of Nigeria today will stand still despite huge oil productions. These and many more are the reasons Nigerians don’t want Ndigbo to have their own state.

The Yorubas… well, the Yorubas can carve out their own state tomorrow if they are serious about it and I gurrantee you the streets of Kanu, Kaduna and Kastina will rejoice. The Hausa/Fulani will have one year holiday
and offer loudable praises to Allah for helping them get rid of the Yoruba leeches that have been sucking their blood since independence.
Let us face reality folks! Be honest with yourselves, what is it that the Yorubas offer Nigeria today?

Lagos is the only city that thrives in Yoruba land, if really Lagos is in Yoruba land. Clearly, the reason Lagos thrives today is because of Ndigbo business operatives. So, my good Yoruba friends, feel free to carve your own state any time you want. I don’t see any meaningful Nigerian stopping you. Biafrans will support you. As a matter of fact, the rest of Nigeria will pay you handsome sum for you to go your separate ways. I am really suprised it is has taken you so long to realise your options. Have you guys finished looting Nigeria or have the Hausa/Fulani administrations locked the doors? Oh!, I get your reason, access to banks have been disabled by the governor of central bank.

I shouldn’t wast too uch time on this issue. Those Yorubas asking for their own state are bunch of dreamers. However, dream or no dream, note that the Nigerians lost huge resources fighting the Biafrans because they knew and still know the worthy of Biafrans. Yorubas are not Biafrans in any way. Yorubas are not even close to Biafran wisdom, intelligence, resourcefulness, agression and prowness.

In my time, I saw how a notable Yoruba business man won a presidential election fair and square and the office of the presidency was openly taken away from him. All you Yorubas could do was to shit Amana you ate over night in your back yards. I honestly urge those Yorubans agitating for their own state to go and drink some hot milk and go back to sleep. You guys have been sleeping for over 50 yrs. Did you guys see Awolowo in your dreams?

January 13, 2010 at 8:09 pmYoruba is a blessed nation. We have the seas (Lagos, Ikale areas, etc). Ekiti is known for the academic excellence. A state with the highest PhD per capital in the coutnry. Ijebus and Egbas are known for their business prowess. Lagosians (The Yorubas there) are the most sophisticated group of people in Africa, and probably on the planet. We love our culture and we try to preserve it, even via Nollywood. Why do you think Yoruba movie is thriving.

Yep English movie is dominated by the Easterners. But who cares. it is the same fucking story of violence, kidnapping, and gun touting that is common in Igbo land. Igbos hate themselves, and their language will soon disappear. Up Yorubas. Please get out more movies and ensure quality, we will buy it, because you have good stories to write. And thanks for answering your original name. We all know of Igbos who hate their culture. Lately they begin to answer Nwachukwu or Chinyere. It was always, Jenifer, Linda, Genevieve (don’t worry girl, I like your performance regardless, I am just making a point), etc. I wonder what is wrong with Chidi, Uche, etc? On one side, I don’t need to blame the Igbos too much, since they have no clue what a large society is.

Let Igbo man or worman from Asaba go to Enugu and see how much of an Igbo he or she is. Please do us a favor, vacate Lagos, and take your wealth with it. And just see how the Yorubas will take over and create a model of a nation, instead of you from the East. You are even scared to go to your own land for anything. Oh! it is the Federal government. Then, what the hell did your governors do to improve your people. The idiot Kalu got some nerves to be writing in the Sun, and yet he was the governor of his state in the East, he has nothing to show for.

My advice to the Yoruba state in Nigeria is to start coming together regardless of party afflication and start running those states as a country. We know how to choose our leaders. We won’t have 1000’s contesting to lead. We also know how to tell our leaders to go to hell, if they don’t perform. Igbo people hate Nigeria, and that is why you would not see them fight for any civil rights. They are there to pillage the country.

Hey! a friend noted the other day that Igbos have been stashing their money abroad. They wanted to exploit every other areas in Nigeria before they pack back to their pigin holes, where they belong.

January 13, 2010 at 8:09 pmWhy this Yanmirin Igbos are even allowed to make comments for what is the internal problems of we Yoruba peoples? You see I have wanted to considered you igbo peoples as human with little sense of civilization, I don’t know that the animals in you will prevent you from seeing reason, since, that is how you are then is okay for me.

To tell you fouls your foolish Ikemba, refused to be a man again yesterday and join honourable men with pedigrees, do you know why? Just because the organiser say they would not like any one coming to manifest to carry in arms nor gun so the coward stay at home, am sure one day he go back to voice of Biafra calling for Biafra state, I’ve repeated several time weapons alone doesn’t win a war there are more to that, emotional, you people are too stupid to read from the words of the wise-hurry- hurry is the basic for failure, we Yoruba’s we think before we do thing and react.

One thing that make us unique from you shops on shoulders is that you’ll never cease to come to Yoruba land, anyway, we will welcome you but when you people started growing wings, we will not hesitate no matter how many Alaba markets you occupied we send you packing. You knew in 1966, we did not asked you to flee Lagos before you started putting all your belonging on your shoulders and rushing to drought East, but mind you or you tamed you stinking tongue before we compelled you to leave for good.

Look Yoruba initiatives is not your business, and am warning all of you to keep out of our discussion forum if not you will very soon become the object of target in the West so be careful, there is limit to such utterance we can take from cannibals like you- or you are yet not tied to go back eating yourselves-if that is what you want, please let us know, this time we need not to go to war with you before we will asked yo to go back to your”CANNIBALISM”, if is because your population is again growing too much we can help you Igbos to reduce it.

I beg you can go asked the Fulani s we fought them for almost 400years they never prevail over us it is in 1886, go to your history book that we end the war with them, the Kirigi war is not just for hyper-tension people like you , is for brilliants intelligent coupled with terrain understanding of ambush lay, look Okoro, cool am down we are not playing in this level when it come to politics in Nigeria, I bet you an Igboman to be President of Nigeria again, you must come prostrate before us first before that can happen, we are truly the King maker, only one of us without being in the military end that foolish war of yours and only one of us not even to regarded put a President and Vice-President on Nigeria don’t know whether you people seat down sometime and think its always “GIRAGIRA”, rushy-rushy elementary behaviours, thats what you people adore,

we, we are above that form of attitude, we are more resolve to issue and not systematic like you Igbo, but if you don’t care you’ll never be President inNigeria, despite “PDP” arrangement that is why we put an Ijaw man trying to groom him, go and ask Odili, he will tell, continue barking like a wide animals it does not remove a iota from our place in the history of Nigeria. Bushmen, that is the meaning of Igbo despite trying to angelic it to Ibos it still sound foggy… I warn you shut up your virus invested mouth and stop saying rubbish

Nigerian girls can be a special breed. Some of them here are saying if a girl should say no the guy should move on BUT most of them will tell you later that the 'NO' they gave you is just to test your commitment ie playing hard to get.

Being the type that talks or toasts a lady ONCE i have being a victim of 'so because i said no you did not ask of me again, that means you are not serious about me' on a number of occasions.

At times i do not blame some guys that are persistant because some of these ladies can be funny. If guys with my kind of mindset only existed wahala for dey because once the lady says no then no time for persuasion.
