Babangida, who was on pri-vate visit to Yola, called on the National Assembly to expunge the clause from the constitution, saying the country would not be able to realize its full potential if public officers continued to embezzle public funds."

Good talk sir. You will lead by example if you return all the Nigerian money you and your cronies looted. Its only after this that any serious minded Nigerian will take you (Babangida) seriously. Until this happens you are definitely talking to ther air.

The prime minister has led a fragile, five-party coalition and failed to resolve disputes between Belgium's linguistic groups that threaten the break-up of the 178-year-old country.
It seems nigeria is not alone.

To the comment above i think it is the other way round. It is your people that do not want nigeria to break up.I was just been sarcastic. It is just that i cannot see yorubas coming out from their 'comfort zone' syndrome to ask for a break away from nigeria
Politics › Re: Yar Adua And Pdp Are Yoruba Haters: Yoruba want to join the Republic of Benin by asha80(m): 6:56pm On Dec 21, 2008
moral justification " Sorry, but the yorubas men in the army then were paid to do their job.  And the aim was not to keep nigeria as one. Get that into your head. I would assume you are young and 1980 that you were born.  let me tell you what made Yoruba get involve, we were not really involve between the war between hausa and Igbos.  we went to aburi like your people,  wanting the same thing like your people. Please read Aburi. It was your people that cross over to attack us that why we had to defend ourself and put a end to the war. if your people remained in their area and never cross river niger
Keep spewing rubbish. After Aburi accord was signed in ghana who reneged on it?was is ojukwu? You guy always come up with these lame excuse that it was because biafran troops were moving towards lagos(which i do not doubt) is the reason why yorubas joined the war.

AGAIN I ASK WHO RENEGED ON THE ABURI ACCORD THAT WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THE WAR?

Since you too agree, So you said Obasanjo is powerful in the PDP, do you think we are stupid , powerful O yes powerful, So children of powerful Obasanjo in jail is power. I forget Yar Adua loves Obasanjo that he locked Iyabo Obasanjo in Jail. What a powerful man, So did former Aviation minister an Ijaw sister of Jonathan vice president go to jail when she illegal stole N30 billion on december 26, when all banks were closed. Sorry I made a mistake she claim she did not steal it, she transfered it on december 26. That is power.

So if you say Saraki is powerful then ask Umaru like everybody as said since he is sick and can not continue to be president to hand over to saraki to continue the northern agree part before 2011. That is why I would call power.

So obasanjo scam $16 billion but the minister of finance and central bank claim no sure money was taken. So what does that tell you. That Yar Adua so much hate the Yoruba that , he was the first person to make the claim that Obasanjo stole the money.
If Bankole has power tell him to impeach Yar Adua, I can point to constitution beach that Yar Adua would be impeach on.

Now I honestly do not care for Yar Adua or Anybody. What I care for his the suffering Yar Adua is causing on my people. Like we Yorubas have told you, we want to join the Republic of Benin. Our people have come out over and over again to say this.

Look we say we want the unification of the Yorubas. If you do not believe what Yorubas have been posting about Yoruba unification under one country the republic of benin. The president of Benin republic is a Yorubaman, and we want to be under is control and not some people that are different from us. And continue to be wicked towards us. And kill our people when they feel like.

So we are ready to leave Nigeria.

Nigeria is my home - Benin Republic President
21.12.2008

President of Benin republic, Dr Thomas Boni Yayi on Saturday shocked prominent Yoruba Obas and leaders when he announced in """"""""impeccable Yoruba""""""" at Ile ife that he was happy to be back home.

Yayi, who was in Ile Ife to receive an honourary Doctorate degree from OAU, IIe Ife and a chieftaincy title from the Ooni of Ife declared that he was happy to be where history started.

"Kabiyesi, my being here today is home-coming. It is the water that weaned me that I have come to see. It is the breast that I suckled that I have come to behold. Just continue to pray for me-your son who is the President of Benin Republic," he told the Ooni after he was confered with the chieftaincy title of Sooko Adimula Obaninuola of Ife.

Yayi who is from the Yoruba speaking part of Benin Republic told his audience who included Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Afenifere leaders Chiefs Reuben Fasoranti and Ayo Adebanjo including the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji AbdulMumini Kabir Usman that his country and Nigeria were inseparable brothers.

"Nigeria and Benin share the same culture, people and history. Indeed, Benin is Nigeria's 37th state while Nigeria is Benin's 7th department"he said.

He added that he was happy that the regional integration started by former President Olusegun Obasanjo was being continued by the YarAdua administration.

The Beninoise President who thanked Governor Oyinlola for the warmth with which he received him at the Airport in Ibadan and through the ceremonies at the OAU and the Ooni's palace said he would be happy to host the Governor and the Ooni in his country in 2009.

He was accompanied by over ten Yoruba Obas from Benin Republic who came in richly embroidered aso oke.
As you said in another thyread that igbos are servants to the north, yorubas are also servants to the north. As for yorubas breaking away, keep dreaming.Which yoruba man will risk his life to do coup?

Agreed chinua achebe listed leadership but if have read that book which i think you have done you would also have seen other problems he listed which i have listed some.

Okay let me use ETHNICITY for eg. If you find urself in authority and you have a policy to make and you know that this policy would be of benefit to nigeria as a whole but not to your ethnic group what will you do?

ATTENTION NAIRALANDERS

Corruption has been 'partially legalised' in nigeria. If you get into any political post in the country loot as much as possible without looking back. The highest punishment you can get is 'remmiting' back at most 5% of your loot.

I keep telling people, its not a difficult task,it all starts with me(you)doing simple things like making sure u save power by reducing the amounts of lights we leave on,or like we do in my house, switch of the light ina room if you are not going to be there, keep your room, and genrally your house and the surrounding clean and free of stagnant water.truly and truly obey the laws of nigeria.the reward is not a national honour, but blessings from GOD because u r doing it to his glory
huh huh huh.

Roflmao!!! and you are the same person lambasting the Cleaner in UK for crying  to Immigration officers about how his life would not be the same if he was deported back to Nigeria??

That dude is right now enjoying 24/7 uninterrupted electricity, good roads. Money enough to buy himself fuel. Heck, public transport is so good, he does not need to worry about buying fuel. The Police there are probably afraid to touch him cause he is black and they do not want to be labelled racists. The government is sensitive enough to his needs that it is working on some package to ensure that people like him who have lost there jobs are at least going to eat well this christmas, if anything. For all we know, this dude might have chilled champagne and caviar to celebrate his new year self.

roflmao!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS !!! lol
Right on the mark kobojunkie.I was saying the same thing remembering her comments on that guy.

Do you live in nigeria? If not i can excuse that question u asked.

One thing people criticizing this guy do not understand or want to understand is that you have be RICH to get the BASIC necessities of life in nigeria.Even for those that are presently living in nigeria when last have you had 24 hrs light without NEPA misbehaving?
How frequently does your tap run(ie if you have taps at all where you are living) and i am not talking about borehole.Of curse before you dig a borehole you should know how much is in your pocket.
Why is that a journey in nigeria thathis supposed to take 4hrs in nigeria takes almost 12hrs because of bad roads?

Like kobojunkie said this guy might be having the best time in his life. Not everyone wants to be doctor ,engineer.lawyer etc.Not everyone wants to drive a hummer. Some people just want simple life.
