I am sure many nigerians feel the way this guys feels and i know many in their bedrooms will be wishing they get citizenship of their hosts countries.The truth of the matter is if this story is true then this man is just frustrated like many of us to the happenings in the country and the news that emanate daily from the country can deflate whatever iota of patriotism that is left in one.

From the letter it seems the man organized a rally in abuja hoping people to join him in demonstrating against the govt but nobody came.If it is true then it is the proverbial last straw that broke the carmels back.

Personally i will not castigate the man for saying his mind.After all many nigerians are ever ready to throw away their naija citizenship for another countries own.The difference is that they will not announce it and give reasons for it like this man did.Are we going to deny thye fact that most middle class nigerians(if they still exists) and rich nigerians these days prefer to give birth to their kids outside the country just to give the kids foreign citizenship?

Remember i said let me digress a bit as it is not related to the post.You are asking how what i said affects the average man?Using the eg i gave about indegene/settler issues if these issue had been resolved at independence would the average people i jos that where senselessly massacared post election madness gone that way?I just wanted to use this as an eg as their are many others i can give but that would be derailing the thread.

Is it a new thing?The fact that he was born and brought up in abeokuta it would have been strange if he did not know how to speak yoruba.I have a hausa friend that was born and brought up in owerri that that speaks owerri dialect of igbo far better than me despite the fact i was also born and brought up there.

Nobody is criticizing Fashola.What we are against is noise by praise by the otimkpus(praise singers).We should not allow sycophants swell his head with all these noise because he is doing what he is supposed to be doing.

One the problems with nigerian person is that his mind has been bruised and brutalized that he rejoices whenever a goverment does what ordinarily it is supposed to do.I can confidently say that most nigerians do not know the basic functions of government.

@kobojunkie

you say they are easy.well i do not know how long you have stayed in US because i am tempted to believe you are gradually geting westernised thereby slipping away from reality in nigeria.Let me digress a little bit fom the topic, A good eg of these unresolved issues is the issue of indegene/settler dichotomy that led the clashes in jos.This is an unresolved issue in the country as i am not aware of any law that gives indegenship to someone who was born and brougth up in a geographical area other than the place of his parents.However you and i know that is not the case in US and most developed countries.

Reading from your previous posts it seems you where born and brought up in lagos but i do not know if you are yoruba.Now can you conveniently come back to that same lagos and want to become the governor of the state without people telling it to your face that you are not 'shun of the soil' despite the fact u know little or nothing about the state or area your parents come from.I do not even want enter the issue of quota system.

Not to sound like the "I LOVE NIGERIA" loonies we have on here, but I happen to believe that the solutions to the problems we have are really simple, and we only need to elect/fight to install the right people to get the job done. In this case, it will not kill any of those "thieves" to actually spend money alloted for education where it should be spent. What I see is a people willing to allow the idiots continue to act like imbeciles while we sit, and play victims as the lives of our children continue to be sent down the garbage shaft. It is really painful to see how such simple easy fixes can be so hard to implement in a country, any country.
Kobojunkie nigeria's problems are not simple as u might think.Nigeria has unresolved fundamental issues that if not addressed will continue to drag the nation down.

I would say I hopefully pray it does; same way I hope all other political leaders focus on issues that affect the people and act on them. If he does not, I do hope we at least hold him responsible. Our cowardice continues to cost the next generation any hopes they have for a bright future.
Kobojunkie let me imitate you rolfmao!!! You are hopefully praying for this looters leaders to do something.Same Egwu change fortunes in education huh

most nigerians see nigeria as an enterprise to make money from and not as a country to serve and build because their is no feeling of nationhood amongst its people

until u solve the above mindset you cannot solve the issue of corruption in nigeria
