naijng: Apart from the ''lazy Nigerian Youths'' speech, the Vice-president was noted saying something akinda unpleasant.
The Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says that their is no bad record so far in President Buhari's administration.
Away from the #LazyNigerianYouths drama, the Vice-president has been quoted saying something noteworthy.
The Vice President, prof. Yemi Osinbajo said in the art of receiving the leadership of the Companion, an aasciation of Muslim Businessmen and Professionals, at his office in Abuja.
He said; “One thing that is very sure now is that this presidency is not stealing and we have a President who is not stealing and will not steal. There is no corruption in the presidency under the current government. This kind of body language is what is saving this country a lot of money now. Like what is happening in JAMB, Customs, FIRS, NPA, FAAN, NIMASA where we have witnessed improved revenue collection and returns to govt for unspent resources. When we begin to deal with corruption in all facets of government particularly within the public sector, there will be a lot of improvement in our country. The government is also looking at improving ease of doing business to be able to attract more foreign direct investment over a period of time. All MDA’s will be made to submit their expenditure in line with the budget as well and in compliance with the accounting year”.

e7ejinima: My response in bold pls
Some very quick ones: Anything positive about Nigeria is the creation of younger generation, be it Nollywood or the thriving Nigeria hip-hop industry or the e-Commerce or Sports not forgetting the International fames won by the Chimamanda etc. The elderly in Nigeria should keep quiet or be reminded that they ruined this country with coups, dysfunctional constitution, nepotism, bribery corruption, just name it. The youths are ready to hustle in this destiny-killing contraption of a nation, the handiwork of you the older generation. Joe Igbokwe, you are notorious but not popular. You ought to hide your face in shame for what you reoresent! Quite a reply, u gave! Makes a lot of sense! Yet, I seeked higher education admission, with dreams of becoming an activist. I grew up on tales of SUGs standing up to govt n school authorities. Standing up, to correct societal ills. But, what do we have today. Everyone, on a silent hustle. We only, come out in public, to flaunt our wealth n showcase our dysfunction. I thought, d fuel price protest, of d GEJ era, was rebirthing youth activistism. Their generation, generally, stood up, to be counted. Ours, I really can't pinpoint where things went wrong. I no wan die I wan enjoy I just build house.... -Fela People like u n I, have refused, for a very long time, to participate in active politics. E no concern us syndrome Fear of violence(which PMB is trying to eliminate). Today, I get more cogent replies, in my political discussions with my contemporaries, than when I was younger n had to move with adults to make sense. I had an e-fight, with friends on fb, just this morning. On d benefits of d school feeding program. They were quoting by rote, all d jargons they've read online, no thinking cap, to actually analyse what d govt envisioned, by setting it up. They didn't even have d basics, of what its abt! Yet, they were braying for blood n condemning what they know nothing abt! Armchair political activists, with no imagination! As long as, it was initiated, by d gworo chewing, certificateless, cow rearing, Fulani grandpa, it couldn't be beneficial |

MensCabal: I totally agree with Buhari feeding scheme, it has helped a lot of Kids, But the problem lies in the fact that the government is losing money to feed this kids.. why not provide jobs for their parents so that they will able to feed their Children, why not improve the standard of living so that the children will not have to starve.
This is a great scheme but in the end it will run the government into debt, because without task and a rising economy the government will continue losing money.... While the USA provides security, health insurance, great hospitals.... their have high tax rates to make sure all these things are maintained There is d knockdown effect. The cooks open bank accts, d farmers need bank accts too. The banks need more staff. The cooks n farmers employ labour too. They pay tax. The school fills up, more teachers are needed. More farmers are needed. More cooks are needed. More bankers are needed. Utensils are needed in larger qty. The coy, producing d utensils, needs more staff. And, it goes on n on. Hopefully! D US, too, does something of such. Imagine adding d senior classes, as d programme entails? |

skarlett: That its a new word doesn't mean it just started existing, people say it but it just became acceptable. For the Shakespeare you're quoting, why don't people still use 'tis, twas, thine' etc that is abundant in his works? Because those words are obsolete. English has evolved from 'thine and thee to yours and you,' and it will keep evolving. English did not start with Shakespeare and it won't end with him. The books I read taught me those idioms aren't acceptable (maybe as at when it was written) and I showed you the proof, no be internet gimme the degree na.
BTW, teachers are humans beings, whether white or black, they make mistakes which is why I never said my English professor taught me, I showed you one of the books that formed part of my education as my own proof. You can believe it or not.
You won't catch me dead saying off hand because that's not what I read and was taught, I'd rather say by heart which is what I told the lady I quoted. Saying 'off head' or 'hand' sounds ungrammatical to me and goes against the grain of what I was taught. I think that's the head and tail of this argument.
You said what you think is right and I said mine, we may both be right or wrong but frankly, it doesn't matter.
Thank you for an entertaining discussion at least I open textbook after a long while Wehdone Ma. I didn't infer anything u said up there! U said, it could be a new word, I gave u instances of how long, it's been around, that's why I referred to Shakespeare n my pry sch education. U were taught by humans n d book u read, was written by humans too. Humans with their error prone ways n their limited knowledge! What ever d colour of their skins! U earlier claimed it was Nigerian English? Then, probably a new word/or just became acceptable. Now, it goes against d grain of what u were taught n since its not in d textbook u use, it couldn't have been acceptable This won't go anywhere, I could already predict d outcome, before delving into it. I rest my case. |

skarlett: I'm back, checked my Webster's Thesaurus and saw idioms under 'learn by heart' and nothing on off head or hand. The only thing I can say is that language evolves and English language is still evolving, new words are added to the lexicon everyday so maybe now saying off head/hand is accepted but when they taught me, those idioms were considered wrong. I said, Shakespeare was quoted!!! New word from where na? I know, u have a degree in English, n really didn't want to do ds! But, ... Purewatermeji:
The reasons criminals like Adeboye and Oyedepo continues to thrive is that the ignorance of the populace benefits the politicians and fraudulent pastors. Every Sunday all churches are filled with empty headed worshipers repeating the same prayer points every day without realizing that their destiny is in their hands. Africans will rather go to church and mosques to pray for manners to fall from heaven yet we remain the poorest and unGodly set of humans ever known . The most selfish continent in the world adding no productive output and value to humanity. We have been praying for decades yet our level of development cannot match countries with less religiosity and natural resources. We import everything and yet get angry when the West tells us to marry same gender. China is the largest economy right now and the factory of the world. The reason why their government is clamping down on religion and encouraging research in science and technology. No western nations dare dictate or enforce their beliefs on china because they liberated themselves economically. Instead of the brain dead leaders in Abuja to sponsor and encourage research in science and technology, they will rather spend billions of naira on pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia and Israel while the gullible masses continue to lavish in poverty and under-development. Jef bezos and Mark Zuckerberg never became successful billionaires through tithes, their government created an enabling environment for them to thrive in ICT and today they can buy all your Nigerian pastors without sweat. Africa is a cursed continent filled with greedy and mentally lazy idiots parading as political and religious leaders U forgot to label them, charismatic egoists! |
