Social media didn't start fake news. Yet 95%+ of all genocides /pogroms have happened before social media.

How's it fake news when we have even verified what the fellow said. Nothing he said is impossible in Nigeria. Take him to court!

I am sorry to say your question is childish
Only children think in binaries
I have not expressed an opinion that it is good for them to take sides or not
My view is society should debate it and decide but the rules as they are do not prohibit it
It is hypocrisy to pick on Oba of Lagos for doing something he did not start
I'm NOT picking on him alone.
I'm expressing the same sentiment to all Obas who do/did what he did.

And No one prohibited it. That's why it's not in our Constitution. It's only reasonable they don't take sides that's why ALL contestants ceremonially go to them for blessings. Why go to them if it is expected that they do take sides?

In our history, Obas/Kings also served as ARBITERS.
They still do today. It doesn't speak well of someone who's considered an arbiter to be seen to have taken sides between parties.

That's why the Countries who still practice ceremonial Monarchy, the Kings do NOT publicly state preferred candidates.

BTW, No society can codify all its expectations in LAWS. That's impossible even if we wanted to.
However, there are things which aren't right BUT aren't stated in the law.

I didn't mean to imply that.

All I'm saying is that one in a position like that isn't supposed to Publicly take sides. This isn't a law. It's a reasonable line of action just like going to school is great BUT it's still not ENCODED in our laws.
But you're yet to give me a reason why it's a good idea for traditional rulers to take sides in an election that has his tribesmen as contestants.

I'm ready to hear from you how it is beneficial for traditional rulers to PUBLICLY announce a preference.

Why do you go to school since it's not written in the constitution & it's not required by Ogun & IFa?

Why do you think people approach [perceived] neutral arbiters to resolve problems between disagreeing parties?

So why didn't they Traditional rulers and Oba choose a candidate between Ambode & Sanwolu PUBLICLY?

Why didn't they (Traditional rulers) choose publicly between PMB & Atiku? Including Northern traditional rulers?

Why did they choose Publicly between GEJ & PMB in 2015?

When GRV says he doesn't think in Yoruba, you didn't press him to explain further!

When Namdi Kanu's boys said a Yoruba pastor should not hold a crusade In Aba, you didn't ask to know where such exist in the Nigerian constitution.

But when Oba gives his opinion, you start looking for constitution.

It's HIS opinion but an Oba isn't a regular man.

Tinubu had the poorest numbers as a winner in the history of our Presidential elections. This can't be the stuff of the greatest ever!

He won 12 states — same as the second candidate.
This hasn't even happened before since 1999.

GEJ won 25%+ of votes in more states in 2011 than Tinubu yet no one said he won the most substantial votes across all regions so what exactly do you mean by Tiny won the most substantial votes across all regions that hasn't happened before?

Mr man. Tinubu had substantial number of votes from all region except Southeast. And i repeat, No politician ever achieved that.

Not even OBj, or Yaradua or Goodluck, or Buhari. And stop saying Igbos voted Obj, yaradua..blah blah. Igbos were under PDP as at that time. They were controlled by the PDP structures. They voted the party not the person.

If not for the emergence of a tribalistic fellow like Obi. They would have voted PDP's Atiku.

Now back to your argument. Please can you name the greatest politician in Nigeria since you differ with my choice.
GEJ won (not just getting 25% ) in 22 states & the FCT in 2011. Give me a single metric where Tinubu did better than Jonathan in 2011?

Hahahahahaha.

So the Igbos voted Party under PDP but voted personality under Peter Obi? Who did they vote under GEJ? So Obi alone is more powerful than the PDP (to corner PDP votes) yet he had to run out of PDP?

Hahahahahaha.

Who gets to decide that? You?
Who did people vote in Lagos last election ? Party or Person?

What exactly do you mean by substantially number of votes across all regions?

GEJ had more votes than Tinubu except for NE & NW regions in 2011. He also had more states than Tinubu.

Lastly you failed to state the advantages Tinubu had.Incumbency & PDP's internal squabbles.

There's no greatest Politician in Nigeria.
If you say there was, who was it before Tinubu won last Month?

Politics is a game of numbers. Tinubu won. But his numbers are the poorest since 1999 by a winner.

He won just 12 states.

Also GEJ won more 25% state votes than Tinubu yet he's from a Minority group.

You are ignorant of something sir. Voting is about figures like you stated truly but it isnt just about that. Tinubu fought and won against the aggressive force of sentimental igbos who antagonise publicly and voted against him massively, the whole christian community which includes CAN, PFN... He fought against social media validation seeking youths and endsarz angry generation. The first politician to get his vote across all region, except the south/East. No other politician had achieved that feat before.

He fought the greatest battle politically in the history of Nigeria. Me saying he is the greatest politician is not just about this election. It entails his growth politically, the way he moves from grass to grace. He is a great political strategist and even you cant deny that. He is the master of Long-political games. He is the greatest politician dead or Alive in Nigeria presently.

If you differ, please give me an alternative.
'The first politician to get his votes across all the regions EXCEPT '

Why use the word Except after using the word ALL regions?

NO Nigeria Politician has ever won ALL regions before. TINUBU Inclusive.

Let me Remind you that South Eastern states voted against Igbo candidates MASSIVELY like Ojukwu (who's Biafra personified) & Orji Uzor Kalu when they voted OBJ (A Yoruba) & Yaradua (Fulani) in 2003 & 2007 respectively.

Again, let's get back to our point. Tinubu is the winner. That's great, I wish him the best.
However, he can't be the greatest Politician of all time when he won the least % of votes across the country. He also won the least % States in the History of Nigerian elections. And the least number of States since 1999.

Politics is a populist exercise. So someone who did the least (% & no of states) to win can't be said to be the greatest. Tinubu literally won the same number of States as the 2nd candidate. That has never happened since 1999.

You where quick to list all of the obstacles before Tinubu. But you failed to state the obvious advantage he had: That he was running on the platform of the incumbents' party APC.

You also failed to state how the deep crack in PDP assisted him mightily. What fight did he fight?
He's the first Nigerian candidate who has the privilege of winning with candidate with the same religion in Nigeria's history.

Even Kwankwanso (who isn't a front runner) deemed himself a higher calibar than the LP candidate.

Reno even predicted that Obi would come a distant third (and this prediction was right he came a distant third).

My point is that BAT won the election but can't be said to be the greatest 'politician' when he had the lowest % of total votes — lower than PMB in 2019.

He BAT even made a divisive comment 2 days ago in Lagos forgetting that he's now the President in waiting no longer a Lagos /APC Boss & that he needs the support of others to succeed.

Very wise elderly man.
Whenever i see people talking down on this man. Especially the south easterners, I just laugh at the disrespect. I am not a fan of him, but he is one of the wisest and straightforward elder-man one can find anywhere in Nigeria today.

I remember few days after the declaration of the presidential result and Ezeife, an elder-stateman, a Cheiftain from the Southeast. Someone the younger ones should be looking upto was asked on AriseTV about his expectation of Tinubu's presidency and how he feels the south easterners should be represented. The only thing that came out of this man's mouth was: 'Tinubu will never be sworn-in, and if he is sworn-in, it means there will never be Nigeria, this country will sc@tter'.

So much hatred, contempt, disdain, venom in an elderly man like that. The mischieveous Arisetv host that probably planned the whole thing to heat up the already tensed emotions on ground by interviewing such person knowing too well his hateful nature was even trying to calm him down, he still refused in saying anything tangible. Except this country must break.

You can never measure wisdom by age. I wish the southeasterners can pay more attention to their elder-statemen who are fanning war and disunity, instead of focusing on what is happening the southwest.

Secondly who told you they Nigerians or people can't go past barricade? Look at all the barbwire they did to prevent people from crossing the railway line except the intersection... They are all torn by people... Same Nigerian citizens... Truth is we don't like development... We only wail... Look at when fashola wants to build that interchange at oshodi... Those guys selling games and so on were against it... Those market women were against it everyone were against it saying is it beautiful we want to chop... When he forcefully chased them away and built the interchange who is now enjoying it?
Look at all traffic lights almost everyone don't respect it u less there is a police or traffic warder there... Nigerians don't like development inas much that bad is suits what they want or whatever they've been doing they will go against the good development. Simple...
Besides can you prove the rail thing is not 70 percent because I speak from what I know not what I heard.
Thank you
I said easily. Reread my comment.
I'm any case a barricade is much better than a waving flag.

Go online & check for similar accidents where there was a barricade. They'll be a lot fewer than those with flags.

Again you didn't answer my question of why we use barricades on our bridges instead of waving flags?

Fashola supposedly phased out molue too right.
So why do we still have molue in Lagos — even not enough at rush hour?

The guy was waving the flag to stop vehicle but the bus didn't stop... And the accident happened... My point is it's not everything we blame government about... This facilities were there... They may not be 100 percent but the are at least 70 percent... I am not saying government shouldn't do more but the blame game on everyday thing on government has to stop.... We should blame them for what's due not non important or everyday thing.
That's my point
No government in Nigeria is 70%. We're barely average. 70% in what exactly? Health? Education? Infrastructure? Or Housing? Is it insecurity? Or food security? Forex or Manufacturing?

Secondly, A human waving a flag is NOT a facility.
Facilities are functional structures. A driving bus can evade a man waving a flag but it can't evade a dropping barricade easily.

Why don't we have men waving flags on our bridges instead of barricades?

This is a sad event. I don't principally blame the government but the rogue driver. But the barricades should have been there.

If Lagos were to be located somewhere around east and Igbo historical relationship with Lagos happened to be what Yoruba is to Lagos today believe me Lagos would have been a true centre of excellence and melting point of all talents in Nigeria.

Do you know why I share this sentiment, Igbos irrespective of their weaknesses love competition. They would be happy to welcome any talent that will challenge what they already have. This is the reason why Igbos have many rich men because everyone wants to be the best. Though it attracts some envy but the positive effects of competitive mindset is more than the backdrops.

Here we have supposed intelligent Yorubas fighting a tribe divinely blessed just because they feel Igbos are outshining them.

What stops you from shinning your own in your own way? Or you don't trust God to make you also shine through your efforts?

The world is fast moving. If the few demonically tribalistic Yorubas don't change, they will be left behind.

Everybody is important
No one 'likes' competition.

What you'll say Is that they're entrepreneurial.

Theodore Orji initially sacked Imo Indigenes in Abia state Civil service before correcting himself.
That's not 'liking' competition .

Also Igbo's aren't more divinely blessed than any other tribe.
There are poor Igbos as in other tribes.
But many are entrepreneurial & so become immensely successful.

There are wildly rich individuals across various tribes too.
