Nbote: And yet no structure.. Wetin they vex me is that see how results are trickling in from everywhere in the south, why isn't any coming from the North yet.. When they see how the results are going in the South, the Kardashians will be manipulated as usual
There are results from The North trickling in bits.
Racoon: The real jungle have matured now. APC will know that chaos, anarchy, violence, brigandage or lawlessness does not win election but by convincing & allowing the electorate to accept you. Next Labour Party win pls.
Overall I 'think' APC might win. Although I hope they don't.
They messed up their chances to correct Nigeria. Maybe they can't even.
Antiochus: So everyone should reason with their anus just because they need US visa? Your moniker says it all.
He's saying that people are quick to call US hypocritical. And yes the US are far from perfect BUT most of those same people Jump at opportunities to parley with the US.
As I talk to you Some great Russian Universities still benchmark their quality with US institutions — ON THEIR WEBSITES!
Suspect33: The western world needs to be missiled out of existence, everything that's wrong with the world today came from them LGBBQ Feminism Abortion Emasculation of men Porn Sexual immorality Gender fluidity High divorce rates Indecency Disregard for God
I could go on and on...
They've become even worse than Sodom and Gomorrah
We're the generation that will witness the book of revelation play out. Revelation 18 is about modern day America, the mystery Babylon
The words Porn & Lesbianism have root in Greece.
They're curled from Greek words.
America is barely 250 years old. So how could they have 'brought' these things.
Obviously they've popularized them — because they're an influential Nation but all those vices existed before the US.
thelegend1: It was expected. Most tech business took up more manpower than required during the Covid-19 outbreak. Now that things are back to normal with business processes and logistics optimized, there's no need bearing the excess overhead costs.
I would advice anyone in Nigeria to find something to produce and sell across supply chains rather than putting their hope on a 9 to 5 job.
Which companies took more staff during the Pandemic?
triple996: It's still biafra or death. all diz one NA eye service, there will be serious election boycott because of UNKNOWN GUNMEN that are known, that is why obi is running around d north 4 sympathy
I thought he's behind UGM and can control them to dod his biddings.
Calvilman: I think OP is actually legit, sorry for accusing but the overwhelming positivity is just something that Russians themselves don't seem to share. It's just that when someone is being so overwhelmingly positive about a country that has so many issues it makes me think it's an advertisement.
I found a video of nigerian students protesting in russia because they were tricked into working and not getting paid (by the nigerian govt)
OP, I'll ask a Russian friend of mine what they think of this and maybe we can get a different point of view because all Russians I know complain about life in Russia and many have flocked out of the country.
Also having been to Karelia and St Petersburg and ethnic Russian areas in the baltics myself I wasn't too impressed with this country, I have mizxed experiences with Russian people, both positive and negative.
I wish you a good day and I hope you enjoy Russia but I think your experience might not be the same for everyone so it would be good to get someone else's opinion.
You're definitely right.
But in what country can people come away with a uniform experience by visiting different areas?
We both came to the conclusion that the issue with this thread is that OP is in a very sheltered position and only experienced russia from a very priviliged point of view. Also OP seems to only compare everything to nigeria which suggests that he is overexaggerating how good things are because anyone who has traveled a lot knpws that many things that are said to be grwat and amazing is mediocre at best when compared to many other countries.
Apparently russia is generally ok for black people and western europe is more racist because there are too many immigrants there.
I can personally confirm this, however I have experiemced racism by russians but only when they speak russian and I understand basics of russian. Specifically working class people tend to be racist, the issue here is that OP hangs around academic and well to do people which is not average for russia.
Russian police are corrupt, in fact my friemd said that the biggest issue with russia is corruption. Failed potential, could be one of the richest countries in the world but it's just extremely corrupt.
Russians are depressed people and this caused by lack of oppoturnity as most people feel like they've failed in life as russia is a very judgemental society so when they see an academic person like OP of course they put him on a pedestal. I can personally confirm that russians are not happy people based on my experiences.
My friend said that a huge issue with russian people is generational trauma caused by neverending oppressive regime, if you criticize the government you do get in trouble and people have no slirit to fight against it because they think the battle has always been lost. Everubody knows how corrupt and oppressive the country is but they choose to ignore it.
Putin is not popular, he's seen as a corrupt and oppressive dictator but people feel like that's just how it is and nothing can be done about this. I've personally never heard russians say good things about putin.
Russian society revolves around working, people don't really express themselves and day to day life can be very meaningless and depressing.
Russians drink heavily, alcoholism is socially acceptable and it's how a lot of leople cope with depressing life there.
My friend said that unlike what OP said, young and middle aged russians are the rudest, most unfriendliest and that russians are generally rude.
Based on my personal experiences russian children and teenagers are very rude and nasty for some reason but I think middle aged people are ok, I've only had issues with young people.
I think OP is sincere here but I think this point of view is extremely biased.
So to all people reading this don't think that living in russia would be this amazing because OP is treated based on his special position, his experience is comparable to a european tourist going to a luxury holiday resort in nigeria thinking that's what the whole country is like.
This is a good thread but I think it lacks perspective, there's no research or stepling out of the lane to see what is outside this catered student circle.
So basically OP's experience may be amazing but russia is not amazing, if you think that going to russia will automatically make your life amazing this is wrong.
I wish OP a wonderful experience but be careful what you're feeding to nigerians her because this type of storytelling on social media makes peopls think that nigeria is a hellhole and every other country is paradise.
Funny how nigerians start loving their country once they go and live abroad properly.
This is why I always make sure that when I tell epople what my experiences of a country are like, I focus a lot on the context.
For example when I was in switzerland and people were smiling and friendly but then I asked swiss people and immigrants about it and they said that it's just being polite but they're not actually helpful or friendly people and a lot of them usffer from depression but they hide it with superficial smiles due to cultural standards.
OP:
"know foreigners are being watched but trust me, you are being watched in Nigeria more than in Russia. Contrary to popular opinion, president Vladimir Putin does not 'hunt down' his perceived enemies. People have freedom here but at least 90% of Russians I have met, love him. . . 9. President Vladimir Putin is very friendly to Africans. Russian immigration laws makes it easy for Africans to come study in Russia and when you are here, they don't harass nor bully you and they don't treat you like second class citizens."
Ask yourself, do rich nigerians and white european exchange students feel like they're being oppressed in nigeria?
Would university employees who get paid for making sure that exchange students will enjoy being in the country tell these white exchange students that buhari is terrible and nigeria sucks?
Are foreign exchamge students treated as second class citizens in nigeria? Or are they perhaps treated as first class citizens?
What if OP was an uneducated labourer working at mcdonalds for minimum salary and he spoke russian, would this affect his experience in any way?
An ignorant person knows everything, a wise man knows nothing.
If you know everything you have no reason to question anything.
fawaz050: I agree that we aren't necessarily arguing. but you were using words like NEVER, NEED NOT and it kinda put me off.
I guess it's all part of learning. Kudos! on your points/expose`
Oh my bad.
I said that because it irks me when people who aren't proficient in a particular tools are able to make comments about what that tool (that they aren't experts in its use) cannot do.
fawaz050: you said Add-in. There are a lot of things Eviews and STATA can do that are not possible on Excel YET. But then, preference comes to the fore.
Wooh, you are right. Argument dey quick tire me.
Actually, I checked out the add-in, it's well packed.
Add-ins are the only way to ensure a tool remains comprehensive in its features.
Stata was developed in the 1980s.
Are the features today same as it was in the 1980s? No. Because new features have been included (ADDED IN)
Add-ins is a feature that makes Excel's capabilities Endless. IT IS A part of Excel.
N.B. We aren't necessarily arguing. Hearing the viewpoints of others on platforms like this help challenge our viewpoints with a view to testing merit — and hopefully learning new things.
fawaz050: Excel cannot do some of the things Eviews and STATA Can.
Also, For most AcaDemic Researchs, those two will majorly come in handy.
But then the world is moving to R and Python. But their application is not fully established in Econometrics (Economics/Business Research)
There's Nothing that Stata can do that can't be replicated in Excel.
The problem is that everyone judges excel with its stock functionalities.
Excel is a Swiss Army knife for Analytics— one in which you and me can expand the functionalities with near endless possibilities with VBA & other add-ins.
See this for example.
Charles Zaiontz has written a comprehensive statistics add-ins for Excel .
Real-statistics.com
But I'll agree with you that Academics have their favourite tool of choice. But that is just a preference.
fawaz050: Remember Op said Research Analysis not Data Analysis. How do you test your data for stationarity, Normality. Build GMM, ARDL Models (used by NBS for forecast) with R and Python (It's not impossible, but the knowledge is limited on this side of the world). Eviews and STATA are ready-to-use routines in that regard.
There's no 'this side of the World' any longer in this information age.
Information/Knowledge has been democratised for whoever seeks it / wherever it's sought.
And yes, R can do/build the models you've described.
As a rule of thumb, Most canned tools (Proprietary tools) are more limited in functionality than their open source equivalents. For obvious reasons.
ForestHill: To establish a career as a research analyst, you typically need the following skills:
Analytical skills: The ability to collect, organize, and analyze data and information to draw conclusions.
Communication skills: The ability to clearly and effectively convey complex information in writing, presentations, and discussions.
Critical thinking: The ability to evaluate information and arguments to make informed decisions.
Attention to detail: The ability to be meticulous in reviewing and verifying data.
Technical skills: The ability to use statistical and research software tools and programming languages, such as Excel, R, and Python.
Time management skills: The ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Interpersonal skills: The ability to work collaboratively in a team and build relationships with clients or stakeholders.
Subject matter expertise: A deep understanding of the industry or subject matter being analyzed.
Nice.
However, you don't NEED a deep understanding of the industry. Deep is nice to have but most Analysts don't have deep understanding. They have SUFFICIENT Commercial understanding.
ednut1: unlike the chinese and Indians. Nigeria have not done well in this regard. The businesses are mostly self run or they employ foreigners based there. My dad’s friend had a estate agent business in uk. Employed mostly white. The most common businesses done by Nigerians include African food businesses/ restaurants, trucking business, real estate, staffing/ recruitmentFor those willing to bring staff from Nigeria. It will be mostly their relatives.
Nigerians do have a reputation for incompetence & lack of integrity.
Of course this doesn't mean that there aren't good /Competent Nigerians.
But look at it this way: The most valuable non-Bank Companies/Banks in Nigeria are overwhelmingly foreign led.
Most important Infrastructure projects in Nigeria are also foreign led.
While Indians/ Lebanese don't have spotless reputations, they are 'generally' more independent/competent/ long-term driven.
The next governor can revoke your C of O. Your neighbour can encroach on that land. In those days when kings give land to their subjects the next king will take it away from them and give it to his own loyal subjects.
lhordspy: Waow. Just waow The invaders are really taking this hard.
I have just two things to say:. Firstly, to the Yorubas forming woke and liberal. There is a Yoruba adage that says; 'Ó jọ gáté, kò jọ gàté, ó fi ẹsẹ̀ méjèèjì tiro'.
Are you not connecting the dots? Una see una lives? Yoruba Ronu ! Rori e!
During the endsarz protest. We all thought we were fighting for the betterment of Nigeria not knowing some people were scheming to takeover lagos. They imported lot of people from the e@st. It was too late before we realised we were been played. They had already destroy our infrastructures, burn down our BRTs. And to even add salt to the injury they blamed it on our elderstateman, Bola Tinubu . Who isn't even a governor or a president.
This election isn't about the betterment of Nigeria to them. It is about Lagos state. The Yoruba-controls Lagos state they so much envy. They want to takeover the place, they know Obi won't win. But they want to takeover Lagos state.
Firstly , Endsars.. One might even wondered as at that time if sarz only exist in Lagos . With the kind of destruction that took place in disguise of protest.
Secondly, they came with the opinion that lagos is no man's land. Same Lagos found in southwest, not southeast, not North. But southwest. How is that a No mans land?
Thirdly , they have been engaging In anything to bring down Tinubu. If Tinubu is gone, which other Political influential person can the Yorubas point to ?
Fourthly , they pushed for a yiibo police commissioner in Lagos. Which they failed.
Now they also want the Yoruba INEC rec gone. Petitions are currently ongoing to remove him.
My second question : why Lagos state? I need honest answers. Why not abuja. Why not rivers, why not kano. Why Lagos ?
Thirdly question:why so much hate on a man who accommodate you people, allow you run your business in peace. You buy land, you build. You enjoy same right as the real indigenes. He Employs most of you guys in different part of state ministries, Parastatals, different arms of governance, your people are commissioners in the state and also house of reps... You can contest for political seats.
You even install Eze in Lagos with ease but reject emir in Aba.
Why so much hate on this man? What has he done to deserve it? Please i need honest answer.
Peter Obi and Labour Party are looking more and more pathetic as their star continues to dim & fade.
As our people will say, "Jungle don mature", now na only dangerous animals fit show. 🦍🐯🦁🐺🐗 Contest don commot from social media, where Obi has been declared winner since 2022.
Peter Obi campaign is looking more like a local government chairmanship contest. It's a show of desperation to go and campaign in front of 800 people, when you are looking for over 15m votes 😢 😢
This is a contest of spending over N50bn each by the Atikulated & Agbado team, not a contest of N4 to N6bn.
You talk like Tinubu didn't support a Ribadu in 2011. One whose chances were as slim as Obis, if not more.
If Tinubu can support a 'failed' chance in Ribadu, anyone can support anyone with 0 chances too.
Dapagun: Why is it that these people do not have a sane response to anything except to insult, Wail, threaten violence and play victim?
Seun Kuti spoke his mind and said it clearly. Heck he did not even support any candidate but you see these children of hate, no. If you don't support them, it is war.
The screenshot best describes them
But Seun called him (Psquare) out now.
And accused him of fraternising with Politicians of times past & reaping from them.
