It is not poverty at all. Looking at the Nigerian society, the crime rate now is unprecedented.Poverty was more in the 70s,80s and 90s and the crime rate was lesser.I have to also add that the level of crime in Nigeria is nothing compare to these few cases that goes viral. A lot more happen that people do not get to hear on newspapers,blogs,tvs etc.

Housemaids are just one of those crimes.
I want to look @ this housemaid issues from the following perspectives, spiritually,financially and morally.

1.Spiritually:First, i will not advice anyone to take a maid without a thorough background screening, spiritually and physically.I know a lot of people will say where is the time for all that,but it is worth it.Once you want to get a maid,take time to take the maid to a very prayerful church if you are a christian for prayers. I have heard of housemaids that were agents of darkness that killed the guardian children,spoil the man's business,initiate the children into their witchcraft.if you have the time at the point of recruitment,when the deed has been done,the time will automatically be available,but too late.
2.Financially:You need to do an evaluation of getting a maid into your home,or paying the 'day care' outlet in your neighbourhood.These days in Nigeria,especially in Lagos getting maids is a big business. The maids now have agents that are outsourcing them to their potential guardian,the agents will collect his or her own fees,just like house agents. There was a case of a particular agent who normally get maids for people around Ikeja area in Lagos,then the person pays upfront say like 3 to 6months. And monthly is like 30k monthly,so say 30k times 6 months is like 180K,times 3 is 90K minus the agent fees,then when you add that,do the math,you will know the total. Then,the maid disappears after two weeks,most times they leave when the guardian leave the house to work. Then a call is put across to the agent,the agent will not pick the call or busy the number. Though he was later caught,as a different number was used to call him by someone else to come to another part of lagos to discuss a new deal of bringing new maids to a family.

3. Morally: Most of these maids be them male or female are sometimes the first to molest the guardian son or daughter.
Some people said they want male maids,so Oga will not be tempted to rape the person when they are not at home,the same male maids will be molesting the young daughters of say 4 to 10 yrs when their parents are out.
Some diabolic ones even even sleep with madam when oga travels for business or work.
If you get a female maid too,they may be molested or impregnated by the husband,their male sons,brother in-laws,drivers,gateman,pregnancy aborted or the maid will molest the little sons of the family too. I have watched a video the went viral 6years that a female housemaid was putting a little 3 or 4years boy organ into her private part. It was caught on CCTV.

Some house maids are even employ with pregnancy too. I know of a family that their first son pregnant the housemaid,the man insist that the son must marry the maid,that was how the first son marry the maid oo. Though they are from the same town. They two had like 4 children together.

It is better you call your mother to come and stay with you after giving birth,then later register your child in a day care or engage the service of an elderly woman if your mother is late or cannot be around.

For me,maid na no no. I don't want to write ouside the context of this topic,because Nigeria as a society many things have fallen apart.

It is personal. Most people that come back to marry here either come back to marry their former bf,gf or the person grew up here. I haven't seen many people that were born for instance say in the US or UK and leave there to come and marry here. They either marry fellow Nigerians there or marry oyibo...Gaas kiani...

In abroad too, the divorce rate is so high with very little respect for marriage.. Their values,cultures,food,belief and ours aren't the same. Most babes abroad can argue,they call it been civilised,no repsect for their spouse,they call police for their spouse anytime,sue the guy,divorce and share his properties and money,they cannot cook and do not want to learn,no thanks to their burger and fast food joints,some are way out of shape too.

Also there are many crazy people in abroad,a white woman can take a gun and kill the man anytime over there because of a little misunderstanding.

Another reason is because some want the children to know our culture to an extent,know their root,back to their base here in naija,learn to cook our food,speak our language and they also fear that in future,should they change their mind to return to Naija ,the Oyibo woman may disagree to return with them,or even disappear (ja lo) with the kids leaving the man maybe then in his late 60s or earlier 70s to be all alone without any kids.


I have seen a man such happened to live,the man was lucky he was like 60yrs then,he married a young ,Nigerain babe that later gave birth to 3children for him. So he started all over again,we only heard that the ist wife is a white and that she disappeared with the man's 5 grown up children till date,we haven't seen those children.

Many Naija kids don lost in different countries of the world unto say their parents refuse to return home after their stay abroad. They can't even come back because they don't know their families back here.

Searching for a wife/ husband can be easy or hard,depending on the individual . Different people are looking out for different things in a partner,and these days mordenization has actually spoilt most of our female folks,some are too lazy,can't cook @ home,some don't have respect,can't even sweep properly,some can't even greet their elders,some can't manage their little resources,some can't plan with their partner,or manage home,some can't wash,washing machine must be in the house,house boy or girl etc.

It is very common,even in Polo park Enugu shoprite. You will see some girls just carrying empty basket up and down from one side of the mall to another just looking for men and checking prices,without picking anything into the basket.
