My wife stopped to help anithet lady to jump start her car on Third Mainland bridge on Monday night. They disconnected her battery from her Sienna and used it to start the lady's ford focus. On returning the battery, they placed it wrongly before suddenly realizing their mistake. Fortunately, they hadn't ignited the car before correcting the polarity. However the few sparks the batter emitted is enough to show that some damage had been done. The car has refused to fire/accelerate well. It starts alright, moves very reluctantly but with a cacophony of noises. My Kazeems have tried to check the plugs and cleaned the injector but this doesn't seem to work. I need advice on how this can be corrected. Gurus in the house I count on your support by way of prescription or recommendations. cc; radauto Nurey Gazzuzz Others too numerous to mention Thanks in anticipation. |

Chummynoni:I had to make a comment at this point. I know the gentleman you mentioned. I have had first hand dealing with him. I live very close by and his dealership is my preferred destination for filling up my car and sometimes buying domestic gas. Very true, the gentleman in question is rather brash but I understand that this may be the only way he has been able to stay on top. Unlike most other dealers, he resumes there every morning and stays right through monitoring all activities. This is not very comforting for the staff who are mostly rogues. As a matter of fact there is no day an infraction does not happen in that station. But of it is brought to his notice he is decisive in his measures. His position is that no customer must be short-changed for any reason whatsoever. Just this week, I was a witness to his wrath when one of his attendants short-changed a female customer by underdispensibg Petr by a whopping 1,500.00. It was brought to his attention, he was so upset and showed his annoyance by; 1. Apologising profusely to the lady. 2. Fuelling the lady's tank with the exact amount (after cancelling whatever had been dispensed previously). 3. Reprimanding his manager/Supervisor for being careless or complicit (or both). 4. Summarily dismissing the villain immediately and of course without pay. All this was done with a lot of apologies to the customer and very publicly too. I doffed my hat for him that day. Those who chose to would learn and buckle up. If you work where you are uncomfortable with the terms and conditions or you feel undervalued and thus under-remunerated your first option is to resign honourably. The more good people leave the earlier the employer will put on his thinking cap. |
koning:Better remain silent and be assumed a fool than make utterances that take away all doubts about your stupidity. |
Kendumazy:Laugh all you like Bro. No harm in asking! Drivers abound in Abuja who have delivered stuff there and face a long trip back to Lagos with an empty truck/van. Wouldn't they rather carry something for a 'clearance' rather than drive empty? Keep laughing. I will come here and relate my testimony...and soon too. |
Any transporter who can convey a medium sized household equipment from Abuja to Lagos at Clearance price? We want ioved this week. |
dahmie2013:Balderdash! Autism doesnt have a cure. The child wasn't created with Autism. Each one developed the syndrome and it has nothing to do with the Creator. There are actual reasons for autism.....but you have to seek them out for yourself. It isn't a plague nor punitive. And by the way....God has no spare parts. |
Richardlove:This is quite instructive. No skill! No experience! No Capital! Still not bad though. At least you have a beautifully decorated conqueror paper that parades your accomishment after 4 years. The only thing you need now is CONFIDENCE. You need loads of confidence and you must be willing to do things differently from before. My take; Identify and make a detailed list of retail outlets in your neighbourhood; Provision shops, Aboki kiosks, micro supermarkets etc. Visit them and observe closely what items people are spending money on most. This is very important. Strike up a conversation with the shopkeeper (for a communicator this should be beans). Get them to trust you. In your COMMUNICATION guide them gently into sharing with you the fastest moving products on their shelves. I am sure you get the drift. Do you think this is workable for you? |
Uniquewise:I am interested in the oven and mixer. Are they still available? |

Blessamaka:I read your write-up twice. I must say I am very impressed. There is yet hope for Nigeria. While not advising you to fight an already entrenched process within such a system, I am of the opinion that you remain in the business and continue studying what is happening there. One day you will see the right opportunity to strike and revolutionise how that particular commodity is sold in Boundary and indeed in Nigeria at large. Hopefully this will liberalise other segments and make the consumer king again after being sujected to these shenanigans and modern day Shylock's. Another thing I would like to suggest to you is that you should expand your frontiers in Ajegunle and Boundary even up to coconut and then Apapa. You have a very thick population in that axis and people must eat. Fortunately, you have started learning the ropes of trade and commerce very early and in the very best of sectors too. I have a proposition for you which will be sent to you by way of a recommendations, a business suggestion,a realistic plan and an effective strategy. I have sent you a pm. Should this excite you then do respond and we take it up from there. Only remote help please. No physical meeting please. |

drabfemmy:I am really impressed by your humility. I hope you can learn from this experience. Let me share a story with you. Prior to Sanusi becoming CBN Governor, I had a friend who was intobig time painting. He had retainerships with Oceanic and Intercontinental and perhaps a few others. Business was booming for my my guy. He even got into backward integration and began making his own paints. As luck would have it the system collapsed and he lost all the retainerships. The only fortunate thing for him was that he had set up his wife in another business which was Supermarket supplies. She used to go to Lagos Island and buy stuff in bulk and then supply them to supermarkets. At some point he had to join this business and they were able to take it to exponential heights. Fortunately, he was called one day by one bank and he has started the business of painting bank branches again with a resolve to fund the distribution business more. Summary of my epistle is that you should have a second (and then a third) income stream. Never rely on one source of livelihood to avoid stories that touch. And believe me, several things are available (sometimes they could be really tasking at the beginning) for those who genuinely seek a legitimate means of earning an income. Once again, I really salute your courage. |
Leezah:Your link is not working. |
aleeyshow:Thanks! How do we contact you? How much would this cost us? Or is it gratis Or is it in return for long term patronage of your company products? Pls specify clearly. |
Jgoldie:Actually, it's my younger brother who lost the job. But there is absolutely no need to be sorry. He has taken it very philosophically and is committed to changing the narrative to his advantage. |
IS 5 MILLION NAIRA ENOUGH TO START A MEDIUM SIZED PROFITABLE BAKERY? I NEED HELP! My younger brother has just received a termination of appointment from his employers thus joining the growing league of employment casualties resulting from the COVID 19 pandemic. He got the disengagement letter by email on Monday morning and while he was still in mourning he received an alert being his disengagement benefits. He now seeks to do what he has wanted to do all the while. He has gathered all his savings together with the benefits he received and is now willing to start a bakery immediately after the Lock-Down is suspended. He has sought my advice and guidance in this matter going forward but I unfortunately do not have a clue and decide that I should throw it up here for your inputs by way of suggestions. Please note the following and allow it guide us in making suggestions; 1. He is ready to start immediately. The cash is available and we have a location we can modify to accommodate the business. 2. We are not willing to spend beyond 5 Million Naira. 3. We may be inclined to identify a guide (Consultant) from here who will help us make this dream a reality. 4. Please no need to contact me via DM. I will contact those that I consider their contributions weighty enough. 5. Please post all your info here as I intend that it should also be beneficial to others who seek the same information. Many thanks as I await your contributions. |
kehnton:Many thanks bro! It's noted. My mistake.............. or shall I pass it on to my auto correct as we all do in Nigeria....pass the buck. ![]() No! I take full responsibility for my actions and inactions including if course my inability or outright refusal to proofread. Tenor Vs Tenure. |
eme2015:Information gathering essentially. |
fairy88:You are so clinically analytical. Is 1k not better than 0.00k. It shouldn't come as a suprise to you that some people in Nigeria here earn nothing from day to day and would prefer to earn 1k daily than zilch...given the opportunity. For some reason, I am inclined to believe that you fairy88 have been unemployed for a while and while waiting for your dream job would benefit from this kind of repreive....if you were not so immodest. The money is more than this ABI? And you should take everything. The owner of the business should then work out empty handed abi so that he will become a charitable person and fulfill all righteousness. |
kehnton:Is there anything wrong with tenor renewal? It's a two way street. The employee can choose not to renew..... likewise the employer. |
I have been requested to recruit a Project Assistant to work for 20 days. The Assistant must be willing to work for a minimum of Six to Ten (6 - 10) hours daily (Monday through Friday). The project will last 20 week days only. Tenor is renewable for another 20 days if the service provided is considered satisfactory. Two candidate are required for this role; One person must be resident in Alagbole, Akute , Ajuwon axis. The second candidate will be resident in Ogba, Agege or Ojodu. Qualifications required for this role are SSCE and above. Both young male and female candidates with the right attitude to work are encouraged to apply. A fair knowledge of the geography of Lagos will be a plus. The reward for the first month is 20,000.00. Second round participants will earn 25,000.00 Third round participants will attract 30,000.00. Qualified and interested candidates should send a text or WhatsApp message to; |
Look for a trade to invest in. Buy from Lagos, Aba or Onitsha and resell in Port Harcourt. It's tough but profitable. Stand at any bus stop on Aba road and see the number of mini-buses driving out of and coming into Port Harcourt. All of them ostensibly heading towards Aba with the sole intention of buying goods for resale in Port Harcourt. |
Ralphjoe:First of all, do not relocate. Benin is as replete with opportunities as any other location beckoning to you. Second of all, do not try to reinvent the wheel. All you need to do is to find a a great product that you can 'import' from Lagos on a weekly basis and make consistent profit. Third of all, you seek a second product and then a third product and keep expanding on the distribution frontier and before you know it you are a mega star distributor. It may interest you to note that over 200 mini buses load from different parts of Lagos every day with Benin as their destination. This traffic underscores a certain viability. Good luck. |
hayurmidey:Where is your location? Lagos? |
Childofgrace18:Sometimes I wonder what we want when the answer we seek already lies in the words we type. |
odinga1of:Then, sadly PDP will lose again. Atiku may just be the only one to swing sufficient northern votes. Peter Obi on the other hand appeals to the young, urbane and futuristic Nigerians desirous of things getting better. Believe me, if we had a more reliable electoral process where there was very limited violence, I assure you most of the current candidates will evaporate. |
odinga1of:The best combo that can wrest power from APC as far as 2023 is concerned is a repeat Atiku/Obi ticket. Woke and Okowa and indeed anyone else is dead on arrival. |
seedorfg:You are so correct. But in all honesty whether it is large or not depends on the perspective of who is viewing the amount. My experience has shown that many Nigerians like starting large operations even when they do not have the requisite training or experience to see the business through. Sir, 120k is not a small amount. You just have to be smart enough in deploying the capital. My suggestion is that you consider trade and nothing else for now. Place your emphasis on essentials. Think like the Aboki who has kiosk on your street. Start buying stuff you can sell off immediately and make at least 10% per week without I cutting too much risk. Many options abound. |
Openbusiness:@ the bolded is one of the best models you could ever adopt. You didn't mention the location you operate in but then you can work with the framework suggested. You already have a space (mini-mart) where you sell stuff. I suggest that you identify what sells very well in that shop. Then look for other brands that are not existing in the neighbourhood and then introduce it to your fellow retailers. Ensure you have exclusive rights to whatever you decide to sell to avoid stories that touch. Honestly, in your growth projections, try to move to the next rung of the ladder which is distribution and you will see the magic of volume. Distributorship is one of the easiest yet most profitable niches that exist in a consumptive economy such as ours. Indeed there are many very many untapped business areas that are yet to be discovered and the surprising thing is that some people have written about it even here in Nairaland. |
