gree-die:Gulp In regards to the testing he can use a trusted dr that can't be easily pallied. Also, if they were very cautious with condoms etc then he may not have easily got until much later. Say for instance 3 months of condoms based intimacy before he got tempted to go without. |
chukwudi44: Oga please it is too late to change history. The catholic church was one homogenous institution before the chalcedonian and east-west schisms. While each church was presided over by their respective bishops it did not mean they were not one.Even today the same practise is obtainable in the RCC where each diocese is governed by their respective bishops.Really. And so the Pope or the head of the Catholic church in Rome held sway over all the other churches in Christendom? Now you know that is wrong... or there would never have been a aSchism to begin with. What about the council of Nicea? Why get it resolved by the Emperor of Rome if it could have been resolved by the Pope or the Head of the Roman Catholic church? The answer to that is that there is little control of doctrine etc. outside of each churches domain. I think the Catholics refer to this as a SEE. So, the SEE of the Catholic church as defined by history at the time of the Council of Nicea (during Constantine's reign) was most of Western Europe in the Roman Empire. There were other churches which were independent and not part of the Catholic church or their SEE. These would have been Alexandria, Carthage, Damascus, Jerusalem, Antioch and of course Corinth. These churches were independent. Of course doctrine was similar as they all followed similar canonic beliefs and scriptures. There were already differences between churches in some doctrine (hence the need for the Council of Nicea). the church in Rome grew close to the fall of the Western Roman Empire and it became dominant in the West. The Churchs in the East fell under the Church in Constantinople and were Orthodox The church in Carthage fell to the Vandals we were Arians and practised Arian Christianity until Bellisarius recaptured Carthage and brought it under Orthodox hegemony. So to simplify: If all churches were under Rome, why the need for a Council of Nicea (and so many other councils afterwards) to draw discussion and conclusions on doctrine that had to be settled by the Emperor? Surely the head of the church in Rome would have been able to resolve any spiritual disagreements within the church. This highlights the unity between churches but the difference between churches. The council of Nicea was technically an Ecumenical council (similar to what we have today between different denominations). In regards to Theodosius, yes he was the first Emperor to ban all other religions in Rome. Emperor Constantine however was the first to recognise it as an acceptable religion, protect it from persecution, allow them to have religious buildings both in Rome and in Constantinople built by him. Give Christian leaders more rights than the traditional religions and gave them some buildings from the other religions. It was technically now the religion of the empire (although other religions were allowed to worship). They never gave these honours to the Jews so we can see Christianity was favoured enough to be the key religion. |
gree-die:Really? I never thought of it that way. People can be brutal What if one of the requirements for the marriage are to do these tests and truth will come out anyway. She might be worried he will find out. It is not always that hard to know who got it first if they had it for 3months+ before the other partner. Some basic tests can indicate this but they are not always very accurate. |
^^^^ What of this scenario: -She shags around on the dude, -She gets HIV from her affairs, -She gives it to the dude -She knows she is screwed when he finds out and hence orchestrates a break up using the HIV as a lie When the truth comes out she will claim he gave her HIV and pass all the blame onto him. If I was the dude I would have sleepless nights until a full, extensive HIV test is done. I might do 2 spaced out by a month to be certain. ![]() |
chukwudi44: Nope pal orthodox split from catholicism only during the east-west schism of 1054 CE.Really? East-West schism was a split? Nope. It was a difference in doctrine and in relations that led to both churches being suspicious of each other. The key here is that the Catholics tried to put the Orthodox church under its authority. There would have been no schism if they were already one church. It would have been like the Protestant reformation... a separation of both churches rather than what it was. You see both churches were already separate. Also, and key to this argument. What made you think that it wasn't the Catholic church that was under the Orthodox church in Constantinople? Are you aware of the Council of Nicea? Why in Nicea in the first place? Nicea is a stones throw from Constantinople, which was also the capital of the Roman Empire at the time (newly unified by Emperor Constantine). So Emperor Constantine made Constantinople his capital, Christianity his religion of choice, gave them free reign, made them the offical religion of the empire and made the Capital of Christendom the orthodox church in Constantinople. However Christianity was never fully united and remained so since. |
frosbel: Mate , better laugh and do it real good.No. I think as long as you believe in Christ that should be good enough. |
chukwudi44: Orthodox christianity is also a breakway faction of catholicism.Like catholicism compulsory tithing is also not a doctrine. No they are not. Orthodox and Catholicism were the two main branches of Xtianity. They were never under the Catholics (except for shortly after the 4th crusade). They have distinct differences when compared with the Catholics. |
Just to add, have you actually done a HIV test? Why would she call it off and use HIV as a lie? Are you sure she doesn't have HIV? |
Ihedinobi: Apart from the bolded being an excuse to say all manner of unintelligent things in debate, what debate does not establish right and wrong? If you don't want to consider God and admit any possibility that you are wrong in your perceptions, then stay away from debate. This is not a debate about right or wrong. This is a debate about wether God is as people claim Him to be.... I stated it to anony earlier. Right or wrong is a whole different debate altogether. Besides, for me to even accept your way of thinking, reasoning, beliefs etc I need to be convinced why you believe what you believe and how you came to that pattern of belief. To do that it helps to free the mind of all chains and shackles. So to summarise, let anony debate my points as he sees fit, giving me his own understanding of God etc. Or you could jump into the debate too if you wish. |
Zikkyy: There is no middle ground, it's either you are catholic or protestingThere is middle ground. You can be an Orthodox Xtian. I believe they are more loose with tithing but believe in the Trinity too. |
You need to take this serious. This lady is trying to harm you with malicious gossip. Do you know the effect a rumour like HIV will have? People will avoid you like the plague, future relationships will be in jeopardy. She is trying to punish you. I would advise you to take serious action. Call her family and your family and do a HIV test. Tell both families the genesis of this whole problem and how she decided to opt out. Ensure they are aware that you do not have HIV. Also notify her that any attempt to tell anyone that you have HIV will be met will cruel and swift ferocity. Of all the lies to make up it had to be about HIV. The lady wants to destroy you. |
sitasie :Are you really 100% innocent in all of this? Be honest. I don't think you did all the abortions etc but I have an odd feeling that you might have kept up communication with your ex while dating this new guy and you also said a few nasty words about your friend while dating your ex. Aside from that you ought to run a mile from your friend. She is evil and vindictive. She was used by your ex to really put you in a tight corner. |
Mr_Anony: Wow. they are lengthy! I doubt we can go through them all today. I'll try and take them one after the other but I'd like to ask first: Are you willing to extend me the courtesy of actually pondering my responses and equally giving reasoned replies? You have asked some good questions and I will hate to see our discussion go to waste.Of course. Feel free to debate at your leisure. The key here is that there is no right or wrong in this type of debate. It is all about perspective. Do you really believe that God meets all the requirements you set about or not? If he doesn't then there could be a problem somewhere with the defintion of God. If he does then how does one reconcile all these questions. There are loads of other questions relating to that. |
So let me get this right... a bigwig of PDP (son of the Chairman) and a bigwig of ACN (running mate with their presidential candidate) are both in the same company and are both implicated in the scandal (Eterna plc). Interesting. Politics at work I guess |
Evil Brain: The cold war is another good example of how we a re better off today. Back then, if you had 2 equally matched foes, both of whom thought they could defeat the other, war would have been inevitable. They would basically have looked for even the tiniest reason to go to war.You do have a point about international organisations like the UN, Nato etc managing to avert wars in most places but we could say that a WW1 style scenario (large blocks of countries allied and opposing each other with a great deal of armaments) is already looking likely. Also bear in mind the cold war had these series of wars as a sideshow: Korean war Vetnam war Afghanistan Numerous wars for independence supported by both sides in Africa and South America, Yom Kippur war etc. |
texazzpete: That's good for you. I rarely see the need for that anyway, I have email. There is no decent Android based project management app like SGProject on IOS. When it comes to software and apps Ios wins over Android in my opinion. I still prefer my GS3 however. |
wiegraf: This brings something I've been mulling to the fore of my mind, the more sophisticated ones may be more dangerous. The ones with the ability to wrap what is essentially $hit and pass it off as chocolate greatly influence the ignorant. As the ignorant have never had proper chocolate, they think the $hit they consume is quite good, despite the diarrhea and other issues it introduces. So much so they eventually think $hit is chocolate, and chocolate is $hit.Yeah but the smart ones will never follow their God to the grave. Or rather they make poor suicide bombers etc. |
Evil Brain: The pax Britannica was peaceful, but there was much less prosperity back then. Poverty rates were relatively high, even in. England.Sure. We do enjoy better standards of living today but we are constantly brought to the edge of oblivion with world politics... remember the 60s-80s... no we are going in the same direction with Iran and nukes. At least during the Pax Britannica the threat of war was greatly reduced after the Napoleonic wars. |
Evil Brain: This is almost entirely rubbish. Technology has definitely advanced greatly, but "wickedness" and bloodshed have dropped dramatically. Maybe you should go and read up on the wars of Tamerlane the great and Genghis Khan before you start talking about wickedness and bloodshed. And I don't know where you are getting this idea that natural disasters are more common now because they aren't. If anything, they occur with more or less the same frequency but are now much more survivable due to improved technology, better healthcare and international cooperation, none of which existed in the "old days".What about the Pax Britannia? Wasn't that a peaceful period too? |
Mr_Anony: Lol, It usually starts like this: "please don't quote scripture" after a few lines of debate it changes to: "does the bible say that?".I want a personal opinion that is why I don't want scripture quoted. It doesn't matter what the scripture says, it is how you define God that matters. Why, because the scripture can be somewhat ambigous and open to different interpretations. So, to you God is eternal and infinite; transcending space, time, matter and energy. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-sufficient, all-loving, ever-present. Immensely great in mercy and justice. This is the same God I used to worship. So at least we are referring to the same God. So let me ask: 1) Why did God create the World as imperfect as it is? Why didn't He just re do the whole thing perfectly? 2) What is the purpose of man? Why were we created? If I was God I would have never bothered to create man or at least destroyed man and created a better being. 3) Why does Satan exist and how can he even oppose God? Is it even possible to oppose something on the magnitude of God? I have more woooohoooo ![]() 4) How is it possible for God to create imperfection. How can light create darkness etc? By God creating imperfection He has shown that He is imperfect Himself. Also to what end? Why bother with impoerfection when perfection is better? What is perfection? What are absolutes and why do we believe they exist? Can God ever be absolute? 5) What is the purpose of life? Your life and others who are Xtians? If it is to serve God then why bother with anything else? Why bother trying to achieve when we can just maintain our cordial relationship with God and wait for death so we can go to Heaven etc? 6) Do we really have free will? If we do then how can we truly exercise it if everything is already ordained to happen and is clearly out of our control? Are we not just chess pieces on a chessboard being used in a much grander battle between good and evil which we already know the answer to. I hope these aren't too lengthy. ![]() |
Mr_Anony: With pleasureI hope it doesn't get too uncomfortable. The last thing I want is to deny you your chance at a very tasty afterlife. So my first question is: 1) What is or who is God? What are his qualities, capabilities and powers and how do they effect the world today? (please don't quote scripure, just tell me in your own words) |
obadiah777: MY DEAR MYOPIC AND BELLIGERENT ATHEIST FRIEND BUT YOU ERR. FROM ASKING THIS QUESTION I CAN SEE YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY IS LACKING. LET ME EXPLAIN THESE THINGS FOR YOU, BACKED BY THE BOOK OF REVELATION. THE BOOK OF REVELATION IS THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD FROM AROUND 500 BC TO THE NEXT AGE ON EARTH WHICH IS YET TO COME. NOW THIS IS EXACTLY HOW IT HAPPENED. IN THOSE DAYS THE WORLD WAS NOT AS DIVERSE AS IT IS NOW. AMERICA HAD NOT BEEN DISCOVERED BY THE RULING POWERS BACK THEN SO THAT THE WHOLE WORLD WAS PRETTY MUCH CONCENTRATED AROUND THE NORTH AND EAST AFRICA AND EURASIA REGION. THE GRECO-ROMAN EMPIRE HAD JUST TAKEN OVER THE WORLD STARTING WITH ALEXANDER THE GREAT AND THEN COME 70 AD, THE ORIGINAL INHABITANTS OF NORTHEAST AFRICA OR WHAT IS CALLED ISRAEL TODAY WERE KICKED INTO THE INTERIORS OF AFRICA WHILE THE ROMANS TOOK OVER. HOWEVER THERE WAS A REMNANT OF THESE BLACK PEOPLE ALL OVER THAT REGION WHO LATER SEIZED POWER FROM THE ROMANS AROUND 193 AD UNDER A BLACK GENERAL NAMED SEPTEMIUS SEVERUS. THAT BEGAN A 1000 YEAR REIGN OF BLACK PEOPLE ALL OVER EUROPE. THE BLACK PEOPLE SPIRITUALLY CIVILIZED THE GRECO-ROMANS BY TEACHING THEM ABOUT CHRIST AND GOD IN THE DARK AND MIDDLE AGES. ( REVELATIONS VS 11 ). UNDER KING JAMES ( A BLACK KING ) THE KJV WAS COMMISIONED. HOWEVER THE ROMANS GOT STRONGER AND SUBDUED THE BLACKS AND KICKED THEM ALL OUT AND USHERED IN AN ERA CALLED THE EUROPEAN RENNAISANCE. THEN ICONOCLASM KICKED IN. WHITEWASHING HISTORY. AT THIS POINT IN TIME, DUE TO THE 1000 YEAR REIGN OF THE BLACK ISRAELITES IN EUROPE THE LINGERING EFFECT OF CHRISTIANITY REMAINED IN THEM FOR LIKE 300 TO 400 YEARS BUT AS SCRIPTURE SAYS, ESAU ( THE WHITE MAN ) IS gODLESS ( HEBREWS 12 VS 16 ) SO THAT EUPHORIA SOON WORE OFF AND HE WENT BACK TO HIS gODLESS WAYS ( WHICH IS WHY EUROPE IS A gODLESS NATION AS WELL AS BRITAIN OF COURSE ). IT WAS WHILE THEY WERE STILL IN THEIR RELIGIOUS EUPHORIA THAT THEY BROUGHT TO WEST AFRICA ( WHICH CONTAINED THE ISRAELITES THEY KICKED OUT OF NORTHEAST AFRICA IN 70 AD ) THE BIBLE ( KINDA LIKE RETURNING TO THEM WHAT MADE THEM FALL IN THE FIRST PLACE-THIS IS ALL SPIRITUAL OF COURSE. THE LORD HAS A SENSE OF HUMOR. HE LET YOUR ENEMY BRING TO YOU WHAT YOU NEGLECTED DOING THAT CAUSED YOUR FALL ). THAT IN A NUTSHELL IS WHY THE WHITE MAN RETURNED TO US THE BIBLE WHICH WAS OURS TO BEGIN WITH AND HOW HE GOT CAUGHT UP IN THE CHRISTIANITY EUPHORIA FOR 300-400 YEARS AFTER THE 1000 YEAR BLACK RULE IN EUROPE AND HOW HE EVENTUALLY DISCARDED IT BECAUSE IT IS NOT IN HIS NATURE TO BE GODLY ( HEBREWS 12 VS 16 ).The book of Revelation? Ha!!!! It is a prophetic book written in the form of a riddle so that it can be interpreted in any way desired. There is no reason to take it seriously or use it as evidence to back up anything. Any interpretation is open to ridicule. |
What if the man calls it all off? Then he would have lost out. So yes, it is like a stock exchange. I personally think he should not take the money. It is better to maintain ones dignity in the situation. |
Mr_Anony: Lol, it is funny how you want to define my terms for me, even funnier how you call me dishonest because I don't accept your definition.Let us talk about the nature of God pls.... I would like that. |
Religion is the fastest growing industry in Nigeria... and everyone wants to be a part of it. The sheer number of new churches, pastors, prophets is frightening. Each carrying out their own brand of dubious doctrine. I have argued with a few and they know as much about the bible or their religion as a 5 year old yet they carry massive crowds of followers because of their promise of wealth and miracles. |
@ dudugirl Have you ever felt the hand of God in your life? If so, can you elaborate as to what it was? You can code me if it is personal. |
The afterlife is the greatest draw to worship. Its promises mixed in with a heavy does of fear seems to do the trick to draw in the masses. People however are now more keen with what they can make in the current world and are not so willing to wait for the afterlife. That is why so many new Pentecostal churches are springing up promising "miracles and wealth" meanwhile traditional churches (Anglican and Catholic) are losing members. |
