Pistotita: Firstly, 100% cassava tubers grown in Nigeria and in other West African countries are GMOs from IITA. When do cassava tubers start having Vitamin A if not GMOs from IITA and Bill Gates? You should read about the dangers of GMOs. Well, I am going to write a comprehensive post on a different thread about GMOs. Of course, there are benefits, and I think it is the future food human will eat. But before stabilizing GMOs to not have adverse effect on human, it is better to reduce its consumption.
Secondly, cassava tubers contain high percentage of linamarin which hydronizes to the toxic chemical hydrogen cyanide. This chemical is deadly and its impact on the nervous system is terrible. You may ask chicken growers (especially broilers growers) the negative impact of formulating chicken feed with not well processed cassava tuber skin (outer layer). The simple way of removing over 95% of this anti nutrient is fermentation. Ijebu garri is fermentated for around 7 days. If it is not sour, do not eat it. The negative impact of GMOs and anti nutritional food is getting more noticed these days in Nigeria. This is one of the reasons life expectancy has reduced drastically to around 50-something years. And the rate of cancer is exttemely getting high these days in Nigeria. You are mistaking yellow garri from the east and south south with vitamin A cassava from IITA. They are different. Yellow garri is produced from any cassava variety by colouring it with palm oil before fermenting it. Simply classifying yellow garri as GMO product shows that you do not know how yellow garri is made since any cassava can be used to produce yellow garri. I know you will reply with insults, but who really cares about online insults in a faceless forum |

Pistotita: I am not an all knowing being; therefore, I can't know if not told.
Having said that, I have spoken to the person and it is still a terrible investment with $350,000 for hydroponics which is around N126million. The worst scenario is that it should recover its investment in 12 months. Thats saying 10.5million sales per month. And the first 3 to 4 months will not yield anything cos the period is nursery and vegetative stages. So, it means it should generate 15.75 million naira sales per month to recover the gotal investment in a year (with zero). So, what kind of vegetable can you put on 2 ha (so I was told) that will yield such sales? Funny that 1 ha is for tomato, and 1 ha for hydroponics for lettuce. I was shocked that anyone in his right sense will ever think 1 ha lettuce or any green leaves can give 10.5 - 16 million naira sales monthly. They failed to carry out market analysis and listened to some expats who know nothing about the Nigerian market. I audited the quantity of hydroponics and it can tske around 3,500 plants on 1 ha. Can you see how foolish this? I was shocked. Oyinbo man don chest them big time. If na balck man they will start saying nonsense.. 3,500 tomato plants onn1 ha in a greenhouse. That is total ignorancy.
It is all about figures. I have seen it and I know it is a bad business even before they kicked off. And then, the guy is not a decision maker. He wants me to talk to the management and comvince them. Well, after analysing the business, I told him I dont do such. I am not in the business of convincing owners who are yet to realize they are in for a big loss in 2020. Owners convince me to start projects for them, and not to come and save projects. If I had told them to spend half of that, they would not agree because my color is not white. But they did what they did because an "oyinbo" man told them to do it. Lol. And it is an insult on my person to carry myself to them and start begging them that they are in trouble when they have not realised they are in trouble. Sounded funny to me.
Judging by this hydroponics unwise decision, the whole farm is likely to to bad business if I audit the whole farm. The owners may be using the farm as cover up investment for another business which is likely to be illegal. This is how drug lords behave. Well, that is their own cup of coffee. If they need my service, they should pay even for the audit. I think i even tried with the figures I gave the guy. If he is smart, he can use that to convince the management. If they can "dash" oyinbo man such huge amount, they should pay more to bail themselves out. If not, hahaha. Year 2020 is going to be not nice on them. Chai! The expats really killed the business and made "over too much profit" before the business starts. It is dead on arrival.
The only way out is thst a faithful manager comes on board and add open field to it so that they can afford tonot disturb the management for salaries and other expenses for rhe hydroponics for good 3 years which I think they can recover the investment. If not, the business is gone. Here is the solution I gave him, and I am.making it open. But how they will do it is their business. Because open field is a double edged sword. You run from it because it is with higher risk, and you want to depend on it to save the business..hahahahha. It is good to be wise. It is good to carrybout market research before starting.

In what way am I related to healthserve and kunleweb that is making you to post insults about me and calling me dubious? You have a problem, you need to stop chasing imaginary enemies. By the way it is a good thing that you will not be consulting for the hydroponics business, anybody that chooses to calculate business health on the basis of 100% recovery of capital expenditure in one year, as you have done, has not yet learnt the basic principles of depreciation of assets and should have nothing to do with business economics. Focus on your area of expertise and advice them to get an economist or a plant design consultant to review their feasibility study. |

Pistotita: What the heck am I reading? Damn! Who the heck is the planner? Seriously scared to even get myself involved. $350k hydroponics and other costs run to 5.55 million dollars (2 billion naira ) and you expect the business to be profitable? What the crap am I reading? And the Isreali company says you can recover your money? What the heck am I reading. I will be really careful to get myself involved. Seriously, I decline. What? What magic do you want me to do?
If you need my suggestions.....what I can do is an audit of your farm. To just let you have the honest opinion of what you make from it. Even the hydroponics, I am not sure the style is installed. What the heck? USD350k hydroponics to make USD5.5million. I think the owner made his money from a strange business. If not, he will probe it well before starting. Are your kidding me? Seriously, he needs to be audited too. What the heck? And I am sure the hydropnoics purchased at $350k will actually be around less than $10k value.
This is the problem I always have with these businesses. I am not getting involved in what I have clearly seen as fraud. No way. Except you accept my anonymous contribution at the initial stage, and I see how the management acts to my recommendations. And if you are ready to pay for my service; otherwise, i will stay far away. I will not use my own two legs to walk into the den of lions. What the heck? Seriously, your life is at risk too...even you are the owner and you write to cover up here. Really, you need to fire everyone from top to bottom if you will make anything meaningful. What the heck? Jesus! Else, you can never be sucessful. Never! You can never make USD5.5million easily with about USD10K (I have strong conviction that the real value of the hydroponics can never be $350k). I am not Jesus who turned water into wine to feed many, and multiplied bread and fish to feed thousands.
Number 2 challenge: I speak with decision makers. This is my policy. My believe is simple: if the owners are not convinced they are in deep trouble, why shoukd I try to convince them? Of course, they need to accept they need serious help first. In fact, I am going to tell you to resign your appoontment with that compnay if you are taking a lead role. And if you are the one who asked them to go into it, it is your me.s.s. You created a big problem for yourself if you are the one who advised the owners. But what are the owners thinking of? Of course it is not a marijuana farm? Holy Jesus! In Africa? In Nigeria? In Okene?
I have been approached by up to 50 of these kind of people to set up a farms for them. And as soon as my spirit man tells me to walk away I do not even hesitate. I will not allow the peanut in it to lock me with devils. Never! A Nigeria where 25-something billion is budgeted for all road construction contracts in Nigeria, while 30-something is the budget for renovation of a building law makers use. Ma.d people. Ha! Nigeria is seriously sinking. No one who is in sane will want to stay in such environment. It is why our people are running out. The one that pisses me off these days is african americans thinking they are better version of black. Lol. That one cracks me so much. As soon as you meet an african american with master degree and above, they turn to gods. Lol. They are bossy and become a big hindrance to themselves. I am not talking about a particular person, but this is what is generally known and any African man especially in the US can attestate to it.
Back to the subject. And you will want to make profit. Lol. That is to say, your bosses will expect to make like USD10million annual sales because they have benn tricked into high greenhouse profit. This is like 3.6 billion naira. Hahahahahaha. Ask yourself, do you have cherry and beefstake market as huge as this? Ha! You are on your own if you are the decision maker. If you are not, you better start looking for job else where since I know the business is going down soon except the owners are Pablo Escobars. What the heck? Spend such amount in Okene on greenhouses? For what?
The amount of logistics itself from Lagos sea port to Okene will be more than N50 million naira with what I hsce seen so read so far. I will not hesistate to take good profit for my service. Believe me, I am not walking into the den of lions. If you agree that I do an audit, and you pay me and I walk away...I will write you. Other wise, my bro....no point in talking since I know I wikk neber step my feet there.
1. I will give you the honest sales projection based on the market you have for cherry and beefstake.
2. I will let you know the number of months you can make it.
3.I will make recommendations of varieties for your market (will run through the ones you are using now).
4. If you are the boss, your first assignment is to recover the amount spent, and I do not think you can ever be able ro do that with the greenhouse. Though, I have not seen what is on ground, but I can tell from the little you have said so far.
5. If your bosses (the owners) are not Escobars, they will not cough out more; thetefore, you need to find a way to convince them that you use part of sales to quickly produce more veggie. Even it is mile 12 products. Just to get them their cash. I have done this for many people who found themselves i same case with you.
6. I will give cheaper options. Honestly, you do not need what the Israeli supplied you to survive in a damaged economy like Nigeria. Do not get me wrong, this is where real money is. The only reason I can stay awat from Nigeria is to acquire more knowledge, and not to make money.
This is why consultants are after me. And I do not play into their hands too. Oga, you pay me nicely. But if it is for me to recommend someone who will do the impossibility for you, I cannot. Not until after the management follows A to Z of my recimmendation will I meet anyone. Do not be quick to pass judgement without getting all the facts. The fact that 350k usd was spent on the hydroponics system out a total spend of over 5.5 million usd should tell you that they are not only into hydroponics. So calling the investment unwise, like you are insinuating, is not nice. I have seen advert from them on areas of animal production, so they can only be involved in hydroponics |

This is to show the process we came up with to establish an automated fish smoking and drying business.
The requirements were a bit challenging.
1. The he finished smoked fish should be capable of being stored at room temperature for 5 months without it going bad 2. It should smell and taste like traditional smoked fish that we are used to in Nigeria, it should not be like oven dried fish that does not have the traditional smoky flavour. 3. The colour should resemble the colour of traditional smoked fish. 4. The smoked fish should pass EU smoked product specifications. This is not easy because of the challenge of getting the quantity of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the smoked fish low enough to pass the EU regulations requirements. 5. The product should not be tough and should be easily softened when soaked in water. 6. No preservative should be added 7. The production process parameters should be programmable and repeatable. 8. The product should be safe for consumption and should not contain any additive that I can not eat. |

jahcure: I sold 90 tons of Cassava to them earlier in the year (3 trailers). They have procedure to follow before they can buy from you. You will first ensure that you have at least 30 tons to sell (a trailer load). Secondly, it must be between 11-16 months old. Then it must be a high-starch variety (TME 419 and TMS35072). They will tell you to send a sample first to their factory for analysis of starch content. If it is up to 22%, they will tell you to supply. ou must make sure that you will uproot and supply to the factory within 24 hours after harvest. They were buying for 19,000 per ton (factory-gate price).
They will tell you when to supply.
The good thing is that they pay immediately after supply. Do they buy cassava starch? |

When I got there, we talked and we actually had sex. After the sex, I asked if we can start dating but she said NO, that she loves her bf. I stayed for 2 weeks at Ibadan and we had sex throughout my stay. She told me we should maintain it that way. She came to Lagos around Sept and she visited me, something happened, no strings attached as she said. Now, I have a girl I am dating and I love her real hard. Pistotita: Of course what do you expect when you have about 40,000 plants per hectare. Why will the soil not be bombarded with fertilizer? Compare to 10,000 - 15,000 per hectare of better varieties.
It is a misconception to say Roma is Hausa. You need to really go deep into Roma. There are even hybrid Roma these days. To say Padma is with thicker skin and with dark red is wrong. See, those cultivars are hyped. Most hausas dont use them. I know what I am saying.
What is even the yield? Cos I have not met any farmer who really produce more than 10 tons per ha using those seeds. If you see such, let us analyse the production. And like you say, they will tell you to bombard the soil more with fertilizer. They promise you 100 tons per ha but I have not seen any farmer who has achieved that? Why will anyone achieve such when one will have to take care of 40,000 crops. "Na beans? Na poreyrooo?"
Also, if you have100tons of 50g fruits and 100 tons of 120g fruits, you may make twice profit of 50g with 120g fruits. And the cost of production of 50g fruits is like 3 times the cost of producing 120g fruits. This has been my point all along. You are even helping me bring out my points very well. I have written it on my thread about all.
Look at the cucumber expats eat. Very soft skin, but open.market wants hard skin. But you are saying padma is firm. Firmness is a criterion; but when it is tiny, it is a turn off when tomato is not scarce. This is my point. You will sell any Roma easily than that cultivar.
Padma is not even a good variety for heat. And the other one they have do not lpplleasily turn red under extreme sun, just orange. Few cultivars will turn red under intense heat. So, how do hausas tag it easily as Lagos and Ogun? Cos nairaland farmers are fond of Technisem and East West. Those are the default seeds for NL farmers. If not those two companies, they will not do anything. But these are not common in the North. When did Eadg West enter Nigeria?
Sir, East West and Technisem brand can never compete from November to March in Mile 12. Never and never.
I am talking based on facts. The biggest fruits padma will give is around 90g. It cannot go beyond that. Is that big? Have you seen 180grams? If you as a Famer see 160g - 180g, you will hiss at 90g. And majority of padma is less than 70g. No matter how you feed it. Fact!
How many rich farmers have really hit 10 tons per ha using padma. Yeah. It has the potential but the wahala is too much. And the cost of production is extremely high..I will rather buy expensive seed which at the end of the day is very easy to manage and cheaper. By the time I compare the amount spend, even in buy my seeds at over N80,000 for.1 ha the overall cost of production those 4rh grade seeds is higher.
Farmers should learn to do financial plan. And they will know that it is cheaper to produce N120,000 cultivars in many cases. Farmers use the seeds that they have access to. East west seeds and Technisem seeds are available in many locations and varieties so people patronize them. What seeds do you use to get the 190gram tomatoes And what seeds do you use to get cucumber that does not require pollinators and can do without pruning? I want to do cucumber farming and getting workers is difficult so the variety with less work will be better for me. |

Romance › Re: I Had Sex With My Fiance's Friend, Please Help! by Atlanticfire: 9:07am On Nov 23, 2019 |
Lucyliz: Pls am really scared and confused rn.I need serious advice. It happened when I and my bf broke up due to some misunderstandings, we were not engaged then..
.we broke up and didn't contact each other for weeks...then I traveled to Ogun state at my grandma's place for somethings ...I met this guy and we got along well...we go on outings, had fun and eventually had sex..after that it dawned on me and I regret it...I ignored him for some days and later came to my grandma's place to look for me.
...we talked and he told me he want us to start a relationship... I declined and told him I have no feelings for him.
After a week I left Ogun state and came back to Lagos.... Afterwards I got back together with my ex and now we are engaged...we haven't picked a wedding date yet but we planned it to be next year...
Fast forward to last month...my fiance told me he needed to rent an apartment for one of his friends coming to lag to stay permanently... He got the apartment and the guy came to lag.. I didn't get to meet him until after a week... I was in a mall with my fiance and he called him telling him he need to go out since he was bored...he came to the mall and behold it was this same guy I met in Ogun state..I knew I was doomed .... I got really scared and nervous at the same time cuz my bf never mentioned or showed me his pics before...
He was only looking at me without saying anything except to my fiance... I was even scared of leaving their midst cuz I was scared he would tell my fiance.... Later that week he called me with a different line and told me it was him....I ended the call immediately on hearing his name.... I can't tell my fiance what happened btw us or he would never forgive me... The guy has been calling but am not picking his calls am scared of what he might say...
I told my friend abt it and she asked me to have an agreement with the guy never to tell my fiance but am really scared about everything and confused....
But then I remember have seen his face on my fiance phone before but didn't pay attention cuz he was on lowcut there...
Have been acting funny around my fiance especially when the guy is there and he is starting to suspect something is going on...pls help me... I can't lose my fiance and I don't want the wedding called off...
Pls kindly advice but I can't tell my fiance cuz he often tells me he can't have a taste of what his friends have tasted...
I can't stop thinking and crying... Pls help me I beg u all You need to discuss with the friend to know what he wants and how to proceed. But before discussing with him you need to formulate your discussion points so as to be able to drive the final agreement in the way you like. As it is now you are looking at the bad part of what happened without looking at the good part. Taking such a mindset to any discussion with the friend might make you vulnerable to blackmail from him. In your discussion with the friend you need to convince him 1.That you are not a wayward person 2. That you love and respect your bf 3. That you had sex with him because you were separated from your bf then and was looking for another relationship. 4. You need to explain to him why you did not continue the relationship with him after the sexual encounter. 5. Explain to him that you are planning to get married to your bf and one mistake should not be enough reason to jeopardize the marriage plans. Now the good part of what happened that you can focus on are: 1. The sex happened when you were separated from your bf. You can argue that you were looking for a new relationship but stopped when you realized that you can not proceed with him. 2. You did not continue cheating on your bf with the friend after you came back together with your bf. You can argue that you are loyal to your bf when you are in a relationship with him and that you made a mistake in that sex episode. 3. You broke up with the friend immediately you realised that he is not what you wanted, you did not play him along, wasting his time and being wayward. You can use this to argue that you are a straightforward person. 4. You have not been communicating with the friend ever since you got back together with your bf. You can argue that you are not a wayward person and that you love and respect your bf that is why you remained loyal to him. Your only hope on keeping your marriage plans on track is convincing the friend that you are a good spouse to his friend irrespective of the brief sexual encounter you had with him. I do not see any wisdom in telling your boyfriend what happened. Most men can not handle that type of information and still go ahead and marry the lady. Only tell him if you want to break off the engagement so that he will know the reason why you are breaking it off. Your only discussion on the subject should be with the friend, make him realise that you made a mistake when searching for a new relationship and you corrected yourself when you realized that you made a mistake and that mistake should not be used to jeopardize your future and your bf's future. If he goes ahead to tell your bf of your sexual encounter, note that the marriage might likely be off the table, but explain then to your bf that you are human and you made a mistake that you were not proud of and could not tell him because you were afraid of what his reaction will be. Then learn your lesson and move on with your life. Note that your discussion with the friend might be recorded, so choose your words wisely. If you meet the friend physically for the discussion, meet him in a public place, do not go to his house or hotel and do not allow him to come to your house. |

What type of soil test do you do?
Is it chemical test to know the soil fertility or is it biological test to know the pathogens in the soil sample? |
