patches689: No NATO would not intervene, just like NATO wont intervene now that Russians are fighting NATO ally Ukraine
And there are many recorded incidents
By the time 32 moved up to sweep the area, it was getting dark, and the 32 soldiers were somewhat surprised to find the bodies of people dressed in Russian uniforms in and amongst the carnage wrought by the air strike, continuing their sweep towards a kraal they were fired upon, immediately the fire was returned and the kraal over run. To their utter amazement they found several more dead Russians amongst them two women, to one side an unwounded Russian Warrant Officer http://flecha.co.uk/32photo.html Propaganda. Those were mercenaries or just a whole false story NATO jets are already in Ukraine, F-18 Hornets, who told you they did not intervene already? NATO is not yet attacking because Russia too is not directly attacking Ukraine. Your Tv has no news channel? |

JF-17 is a year 2012 aircraft built to launch cruise missiles and nuclear weapons, Gripen is an old 1998 Grandpa that CANNOT do all that ! .

patches689: Anyway, back to factual matters.
South Africa sells R23 Billion's worth of arms in just 3 months
The National Conventional Arms Control Committee (NCACC) approved arms exports worth R23 billion in the last three months, including armoured vehicles that were sent to Burkina Faso in the months before the October coup.
Among the sales:
- The SA Press Association reports an appendix to the NCACC report indicates the biggest single authorised export deal is for the supply of six large calibre artillery pieces, described as "gun/howitzer", to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), at a cost of R229.2 million. - The second-largest is seven "turret, light combat", with the final export destination listed as Malaysia. The value is R2.6 million. - The greatest quantity of authorised export armaments are bombs and rockets. A total of 16 762 high explosive, 2 376 illuminating and 9 504 smoke mortar bombs are marked down for the UAE. -The Netherlands is listed to have received 26 000 mortar bombs. -The UAE is also down for 10 lots of so-called imaging or counter-measure equipment, described as "system, airborne observation", valued at R90 million. -A total of 50 armoured combat vehicles are authorised for export to various African countries, including Burkina Faso, Guinea, Niger and Senegal, as well as African Union operations in Somalia. The total value of these is about R124 million. Yet SAAF cannot afford to buy SA made Mokopa missile, you sold your birth-right like Esau . |

overhypedsteve: Sometimes i just sit down and wonder what life in maiduguri would look like with so much security presence. I keep telling people that this boko haram insurgents are suicidal peeps and are only result oriented. They do not care how much of their lives it costs as long as the deed is done. Nigeria was really unfortunate to be the African country that was chosen to be infected with this " disease". But i know its all for the better, cus Nigeria have always been like a " push and start" vehicle we always need something to get us going. The boko haram insurgency brought a lot of administrative and infrastructural development to the various Nigerian security services. Nigeria was made strong by boko haram. The oil militants taught our boys to fight in creeks, rainforest, mangroove forest and swamps. While the boko haram insurgency introduced our boys into the world of asymmetric welfare and the worlds new conflict theatre: desert warfare. Most of the conflicts that have plagued the world in this modern times are being fought in the desert. From Mali, libya, somalia, syria, and Iraq. To me i think boko haram is preparing our boys for the bigger picture, something inevitable, something that must be fought under the harsh sun and on the sands. Food for thought . |

Henry120: JF-17 block 1 versus Gripen C/D
Block II which we are getting is way ahead of the Gripen. The South Africans are in a state of shock by NAF's 40 units of brand new JF-17 Thunders 4th generation jet fighters. I have been silent on the issue because of the dramatic comedy I am having with @Patches who says ATR-42 MP is different form ATR-42MP and that there are 3 different types of radars on ATR-42 with different ranges The same Same South Africans who were boasting here that they are very sure Nigeria will not by any 4th generation jet fighter and the Scorpion jet is all Nigeria will buy. They said NAF chief of staff inside cockpit of JF-17 Thunder is just like the Kenyan air force chief that was 'test driving' F-16 When the fish brain Southies write rubbish, they forget that when the truth bursts out tomorrow, they will be embarrassed Reason why I always tell Patches that crime does not pay at the end of the day Now NAF is gonna have almost 100 combat jet fighters...F-7, Alpha, MBB-339, L-39 Albatross, JF-17...NAF will have the biggest combat air force in Africa after Egypt. Anyway, SAAF Gripen jet is now old, a new version is coming up, the Southie Gripen is 1998 version with old radar and avionics JF-17 Thunder is a 2012 jet fighter with latest radar and avionic technology.
NAF beats SAAF in numbers and technology.
The usual story of "It's old and outdated" has become the new trademark of South African military

mzilakazi: Nigeria's oil reserves and Angolans will be depleted in 41 years and 21 years respectively, says World Bank.
http://www.channelstv.com/2012/10/05/nigerias-oil-production-ends-in-41-years-world-bank/ Blah blah blah bubble gibber gibber We have been hearing this western nations prophesy of envy for the past 20 years, yet Nigeria's oil has not finished and we keep finding new oil deposits. Lagos state has now joined oil producing states of Nigeria in 2014, world bank prophecy did not predict that. LOL ! Anyway, Nigeria has more gas than oil and we just started massive gas field projects. Then your world bank report did not tell you about Nigeria's massive oil sands reserves called Bitumen, we have hardly scratched the surface of our biggest bitumen deposits in Ondo state, it's one of the largest in the world and Nigeria is reserving it while we explore other bitumen locations. Crude oil, Natural gas, Oil sands....all flowing in Nigeria, world bank will grow old and die, Nigeria's oil will still be flowing like river Zambazi . |

ActivateKruger: - First we had an air force when the only flying thing in Nigeria was a juju man.
- Second you have been using the Mig 21 for almost half a century when we had already purchased the Gripen.
- Currently we have 4th generation fighters, you don't.
SAAF leads the pack SAAF has 4th generation jets NAF has 3.5th generation jets. The gap is very very close, and we both have WVR advanced missiles, so we both die at close range. NAF has better jet higher training with PAF combat experience on F-7. SAAF Gripens have no combat experience and no training missiles, so NAF fires air to air missiles, SAAF Gripens have NEVER done that before. NAF wins ! . |

Patchesagain: Answer is radio
#ShowUsNigerianDataLink Thanks, you just proved that world military forces can effectively communicate among their 3 armed forces without datalink. Thanks for knocking down the old argument that all your fellow South Africans cherish. Now you admit radios do the same work as datalinks. Thanks. I did many times here, with manufacturers diagrams, NAF Beechcraft and ATR-42 have inbuilt datalinks. Even Uganda has inbuilt datalinks on her Su-30 Flanker. Only a fool thinks only South Africa has datalinks in Africa. Have you seen Algerian datalinks published? Algerian military is more advanced than SANDF, their budget dwarfs yours. Nigeria is boasting of the worlds latest technology cloud penetrating Satellites and ELINT aircraft which South Africa does not have. |

Patchesagain: AUGUGUBGUGUG HAS SHOT DOWN HIS OWN ARGUMENT!
According to your link, the ATR-42 does not have a range of 350km (no radar range listed) - so that is the second lie I have exposed today (right before bed )
And according to your link, the ATR-42 is NOT an ISTAR platform, its an ISR platform
http://www.atraircraft.com/datas/download_center/38/atr_42_surveyor_2004_38.pdf LOL, the 330km radar range of NAF ATR-42 was found by me first and secondly by @Andrewza last year, nobody argues about it. So you found a different radar range different from what @Andrewza and I have been posting? I dare you to post your own source. Lol. ISR and ISTAR are linked, and NAF ATR-42 is now superior to all the ones in manufacturers data sheet because we upgraded to ELINT levels and full ISTAR capabilities, and NAF also has Beechcraft 350 ER as extra ISTAR aircraft. Butt hurt mugu, tell us your own research result for ATR-42 radar range, I will set you up to challenge @Andrewza's 330km range....you wanna mess yourself up? I will help you get into another mess today and you will struggle to get out of it but you won't be able . |
