Even though the CRS score decreased from 533 to 525... The total number of candidates in the pool increased, hence the 2,250 ITAs today didn't have any visible positive effect on the total number of candidates in the pool. So unusual!
The pool added about 600 people this time, an actual reduction from the last time, when over 1000 persons were added in two weeks. I'm guessing most CECs are in the pool already and these are French/ people who were able to increase their scores through other means. So not too unusual.
By the last quarter of the year we should see the scores get down to 500 and maybe below, if the internal memo is anything to go by.

I feel it should be anyone below 470. Since bill C-19 will be effected first quarter next year then it means there won't be any surprising changes much in the manner in which draws are being conducted. If IRCC steadily increases the number of ITAs going forward with regular draws, then CRS scores would definitely drop below 475 before December.
The reality is that I don't think anyone anticipated the addition of over 1500 people with scores of 500-600 into the pool in just TWO WEEKS since the last draw, and more than 10000 overall. The only options are if the draw sizes increases and/or lesser people enter the pool, of which I doubt the latter.

That's the competitiveness of the pool right now and it will only get higher from here on out. That internal memo that talked of scores not going below a certain score might just be true.
Anything you can do to increase your scores or attractiveness to provinces, please do it.

It's good that we now have a timeline as Bill C-19 has finally passed. The sad thing is that this will potentially take away ITAs from those in highly regulated and professional fields that do not meet Canada's immediate labor needs, like medicine, pharmacy etc as they cannot practice in Canada upon landing... Hmmm.

Hopefully they continue with a subset that has high enough scores...

Just started prepping for TCF and hope to take the exam next year. Hopefully it will still be useful to migrate to canada then considering they might change the rules.
Welcome to the fam, I guess grin
Aie Courage. For the foreseeable future, the French exams will still be worth it. To pander to Québec and French Canadians, the Canadian government is very receptive to French speakers and has a goal to increase the quota for French immigrants or it may even conduct French-only draws in the future from bill C-19, who knows?

For now just enjoy the French learning journey. Feel free to ask questions, as the journey can seem quite lonely sometimes.

Let me just post this here to help clarify things. If Nigeria was suspended for any other reason asides technical it would be stated clearly.

Stop spreading unverified info
We're done talking about this though, and people were clear about it being speculation and hearsay. It's literally an online social forum. Save for being potentially detrimental in case this thread is monitored by the "authorities"people do have the right to speculate. No true governing body will pick up info from an unverified source like an online social platform without doing its own in-house findings. I believe most of the thread has been sanitised.

It's how to move forward until the exams resume that concerns us right now...

I don't get the vitriol snakes and animals get on nairaland but we see how we've driven some of our most important wildlife to almost extinction in Nigeria... Nothing surprises me.

A friend of mine was able to register for TEF in Bènin for this month.... As at Wednesday when she registered, they only had one slot left. They said they don't admit more than 10 candidates for the exam. They are going on holiday next month which means the next exam will be in September. Reaching the institute where the exam is conducted is very difficult because they don't respond to their messages on time and then even if they respond, you'll have an issue paying for it.

My friend had to take a risk and paid someone over there to help her go to the institute to make the payment on her behalf.
Thank you very much for sharing.
For the TCF, you can try tcfca . com(enlevez les espaces), there is a link also that can lead you to their telegram page where they share CE and EO questions...

There is also a comment se préparer pour TCF page on face.book.

Now that TEF is no longer available in Nigeria, I strongly recommend that people shift their focus to TCF (unless they want to travel out of the country for TEF). Both exams are in french but the formats are completely different. Just like how you can't use TOEFL study methods for IELTS. Therefore, if you were 100% ready to write TEF before this suspension, you can just spend the next 2 months practising very well to write TCF in Port Harcourt. Last year, I wrote mine there and it went smoothly. Although TCF is the less popular exam, I still think it is a lot easier than the TEF exam.
Nevertheless, I will try to look for some resources that I used to study last year and I'll post the links for those who are interested in writing the exam at the PHC centre.
Please do. Merci à l'avance...
Hopefully the TEF thing is rectified soon.

It is not a technical issue after all. Suspension from the main TEF organisation?
Most likely. Options are to write TCF(only in Port Harcourt for now), or TEF in neighboring countries... Benin is next door.

Same question I've been asking myself
It's a homemade shooter. Japan's guns laws are amongst the strictest in the world, meaning that getting a handgun or rifle is way difficult for a citizen. He made most of that himself.
Yamagami Tatsuya(suspect) was a former naval officer up until 2015 and at the scene, commented that he had issues with Abe. Issues strong enough to want to kill him.

Thank you. Also, how easy is it gonna be to pass TEF in 6 months, as a beginner? Im very determined cos this 557 score is alarming. My CRS should hit 496 by my 3rd year work anniversary in 9 months, but i'm also looking for ways to improve it all the same. Ideas please, I'm very (sorta) desperate
Quoted this because it became this conversation.
Can it be done? YES. On the TEF thread, we have two testimonials of that. But AT WHAT COST?

Writing TEF is not knowing how to say Bonjour, Il fait beau, Merci mille fois etc. One must KNOW French, know it and then know how to write TEF... Those are two different things.
Now being objective you need to get to atleast at high B2/low C1 level to get that coveted 54-72 points(I think)

What are you willing to give? The CEFR says you'll need at least 600 hours of EFFECTIVE learning to achieve this. Where will those hours come from?
I'm sorry but I laugh at those saying 1 hour a day. Ha! It's not about doing it for an hour and dropping it till the next day. It's the entire journey.

Remember TEF has 4 épreuves like IELTS, your reading may be good, what about your writing, what about your speaking? French speakers who had written IELTS and TEF, said that TEF was by far the more difficult of the two and this is for native French speakers. We have been speaking English for a long time and some still flop on IELTS. I see people saying write TEF, learn French, it's not beans.
The exam also doesn't come cheap, TEF at 210k and TCF at 175k,know what you're getting into.

It's good that you're desperate, if you can tunnel that desperation into the biggest form of discipline that you can give. Discipline that will mean your time and your money. Are you willing to get a tutor(full time is better), read French, eat, sleep and wake up with French? Remember those hours have to come from somewhere. Learning French will frustrate you, but that's where you need the discipline.

Honestly 1 hour a day will not cut it, those who did it in 6months had daily classes and read for hours outside of this DAILY. YOU will make up most of your progress. That's where I agree with @olalekan, he has written the exam and knows what he means. If you can't give it your all, then you might as well be lying to yourself about the 6 months. Now as a mother/father with children, and/or a full time job, with negligible free time, do you think you can do it? Immersion should become your middle name.

I will also advice not starting out on your own if the intention is record time, that's a recipe for frustration and haphazard learning. You can start with the alphabets and simple greetings, maybe Duolingo, that's A0-A1 level.
This is not to discourage anybody o, but we must combine hope with reality.
Sorry for my novel, but that's my 2CAD.

Hello All,

My story. Apologies I do not know all the acronyms.

We decided to apply for Canada Express entry as a back up as we were not too sure about our French citizenship application because of time spent outside France. I am just over 40 and my wife is just under 40. So if you are under 30, you have got no excuses.

TEF - 10/2019 (Paris) - C2, C2,C1,B2
IELTS - 12/2019 (Paris) - 8.5, 7, 7. 8.5
IELTS wife - 02/2020 (Paris) - 7,5,6.5,7.5

We forgot about the Canada thing until I got a message inviting us for ITA after an increase in points thanks to French language.

ITA - 12/2020
PR Application - 02/2021
Medical passed in 2021, extended by one year to 02/2022
Biometric (Paris) - 06/2021
Background check complete - 04/2022
Application approved - 06/2022
Expecting COPR + passports by DHL next week

--------------------------------------------------

Application for French nationality - 07/2021
French citizenship Interview - 01/2022
Confirmation of French citizenship for myself, wife and 3 kids - 06/2022

Canada PR + French citizenship confirmed in 06/2022

In order to give back to the system, I have put together something for people who want to become French and I am working on putting something together to help people pass the TEF Canada easily. It should be ready in the final quarter of this year.

All the very best in your application.
You are right, no excuses!

French and Canadian citizenships, the best parts of the pie...
Congratulations and success to you and your family on your next step.

Actually it’s nonsense, their provinces are already doing these effectively, federal government cannot be making such crucial decisions for provinces; provinces make these decisions better . This is just waste of resources and they are damaging the system more. Their federal government also have a very poor reputation when it comes to Imigration management/ performance (IRCC) go online and check the huge amount of applicants suing ircc every time compared to other countries; so why give the immigration minister of such incompetent department that much power?.However, it’s their country, let them do whatever they like with it.
Your first sentence, that was the same line of thinking I had when I was having a constructive argument with someone.
Then I came to my senses, remembered that this is IRCC we're talking about, after all Mendicino did... Kept quiet and then ended up at your last sentence. It really is their country and it will favour those it will favour.
I will continue to say that if at the moment you have low points already and can do French, please do.

Do u know how much money have been spent on ielts alone, plus other stress that one has gone through only for them to just come up with this dirty idea! Why can't they atleast show consideration to people by giving long period of notice let's say one year so that people will be better prepared to adapt to Future changes... Not everyone has the money for this pursuit, some even had to borrow funds to push thier way forward, then you're giving public talk saying BLA BLA BLA like I don't know what u are saying... In life, consideration is a key factor, learn to put yourself in other's people shoe, make I for no swear for u this morning... Mtcheeeew. Pls allow people that have sense to talk abeg... Mtcheeww
Oga calm down, no vex. People will only speak from where their own knowledge starts. Technically he's not wrong. Immigration rules aren't for you but for the host country or do you think Canada is letting so many in out of the mere goodness of their heart? No. There has to be something for the country to gain. It's a bitter pill but one you must swallow. What will happen will happen, you do have the right to not be happy about it though. Same thing happened to Australia and it's immigration process.
Besides if you follow IRCC, every 10 years or so, there a major change to the immigration policy or a reform made.

For the time and money you're talking about, this is the same IRCC that let people(they call them applications) wallow for almost two years, without substantial info about resumptions, dates etc just left people in the dark. Those people are the true Israelites in this Journey. Unfortunately the Canadian immigration system still leaves a lot to be desired, they'll get better.
Keep hope alive! May the new bill favour us.

This is very bad for ITAs hopefuls. Since different provinces are sending out PNPs due to their job demands, they would have just left the FSW to take its original course. As painful as it is to say, I would suggest ITAs hopefuls like myself to start gearing up for plan B's, especially if your NOC may not be in demand
Plan B can be French as in TEF/TCF, they do have French targets outside Quebec to meet and there are talks of only French draws. I know it's a hard and expensive route to take, but it is an advantageous one. If you think you can do it, just start.

The bill might still go through some modifications, so until it's passed, no one truly knows.
Keep hope alive!

Hello everyone,
I just joined this thread still reading up but it's alot. I want to sit DELF A1 on July 5th and I tried evening online lessons but after long day at work and home duties it wasn't working out so I only did one month. I still practice daily with Duolingo.
I want to start weekend intensive at Alliance Francaise this weekend, to help me brush up for DELF A1.
Question is, how many points can DELF A1 get my express application and is it worth it?
Thank you.
It's worth nothing. The only two French exams worth anything towards the express entry for Nigerians is TEF Canada/TCF and the scores that can be obtained at A1 level will not match it.
You will need to get to atleast B1/B2 level and then strategically study(hard) to pass either. For Canada people only take DELF to ascertain their level as they learn along.
This thread has a lot of resources and golden advice, try to read it, I personally have gone through it twice.
Also you need the time to learn French for TEF/TCF, you must make out the time from somewhere.
Bonne chance.
