PoliticsRe: The Cable Exclusive: Buhari To Shake-up The Military by AustineE1: 7:01am On May 04, 2015
Well Nigeria should purge itself of corrupt military officers and this should include top police officers but while doing this,it should not be a vendetta and the usual mentality, where northerners and their yoruba co-conspirators uses every opportunity to weed out top Igbo and south-south officers, with the believe that certain top military positions should be well guided for their people.
The days ahead will be interesting because every step taken by GMB will surely be scrutinized.

I do not subscribe to the idea of calling our presidents by derogatory names however,it was very painful hearing the ones who should know better call GEJ 'clueless',at that point i thought it was the height of it all.
Remember this is the social media age where a lot of uncultured kids find their way online and venting their frustrations online.one thing for sure is that the president elect must gear up for massive onslaught,'what goes around will surely come around'! His ego will surely be battered.
We must learn to respect others, calling him 'Brainless' may now serve as a good revenge for GEJ supporters.

Oh shut the eff up!

We are witnessing how shamelessly some red cap chiefs kept paying homage to the man you only hated because he's Fulani.

The southwest is doing great, we didn't cry like babies when you laughed and asked Jonathan to marginalised us.

We have the vp and possibly the speaker with many many juicy positions in pipeline. I'm proud to be brainwashed.
you are so pathetic,i didnt think some people are still this dull, you have forgotten that south-west once held presidency for eight years, yet i know a million and one of your brothers still scavenging for food in the streets of Nigeria, saddly same also applies to other regions.I would think that once Osinbanjo gets to the exalted post of VP,prices of food stuffs will go down in south west, fuel will be sold at 10 naira in south west and probably kerosine will be distributed freely to you,on the recognition of you being a yoruba.
Young man,if the only reason for the 'change' and massive support for GMB/Osibanjo in the south west is because you think you have the VP position, then we ve missed another chance to make this country better.....i hope to see you back in this forum in six months time, hoping at that time, your life and that of other people from your region would been better than the rest of other Nigerians.
PoliticsRe: Tanko: 'How Imams, Northern Intellectuals, Incited The North Against Jonathan' by AustineE1:
I have seen some comments from south-west forumites and to say the least,am dissappointed. For once i dont think that Jonathan must have the second term if hadn't performed. But for anyone to judge Jonathan as having marginalized the south-west or North-East in his appointments,is the most ridiculous accusation i have heard in a very long time. Some people has choosen to be economical with the truth, just for political expediency.
One of the reasons some top PDP men defected to APC was about the president frosty relationship with the speaker of the House, the president unwillingness to support Tambuwal to be the speaker, infact he was of the opinion that south-west must be handed over the speakership but rather some Northerners conspired with some south-west house members to foist Tambuwal on the house....Now GEJs antogonists seems to have developed selective amnesia, nobody remembered what brought about the perceived marginalization of the south-west.
Right now APC is beginning to distribute all key positions to the North and others to the south-west because to them,it doesnt matter how the south-East or south-south feels.Nigeria is a big scam,we are only postponing the evil day.
The whole mantra of 'change',was all about the north, the north feels that whatever it will take to get back the presidency must be done.Dont forget boko haram major request was for GEJ to surrender presidency to a muslim. We no the truth but we shall gladly wait for GMB to equally dissappoint these innocent almajiris that where used in their quest for 'change',they were promised heaven on earth, the hunter may soon turnout to be the hunted....i smell revolution coming,'both the baboon and the dog will be soaked in blood'.

Cold-hearted Oluyemisi Adebayo,Queens nurse was nabbed Wednesday as she was about to board a plane out of the country and leave behind her horrific crime — the killing of a 22-month-old girl from a bath so scalding-hot the child’s skin peeled off, police said.

It was the second day that Oluyemisi Adebayo, 54, was caring for Naomi Mondesire at the child’s home on Memphis Ave. near 145th Ave. in Rosedale. The premature toddler was born at just 25 weeks and needed a tracheotomy tube to breathe. Naomi spent her first year in the hospital, her grandmother said, and still needed to be fed through a tube.

Around 7:25 p.m. on Saturday, Adebayo, a licensed practical nurse, submerged little Naomi in water so hot that it actually burned pieces of skin off the child, according to authorities. The young girl died Monday.

“She couldn’t even scream,” said Naomi’s grandmother Gardite Mondesire, 54, who was at a nearby library when a tenant called her with the terrible news.

“When I got home, my tenant was running around picking up pieces of skin. It was all over the floor. It was all over the tub," she said.

Mondesire called Adebayo and asked her what happened. “She said ‘It’s bad. I did something bad. The baby got burned,’” Mondesire said. “But she said she didn’t know how.”

Adebayo was arrested around 7a.m. Wednesday at Kennedy Airport as she tried to board a flight for Nigeria, where she is from, authorities said. She was charged with murder.

The toddler was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center with second- and third-degree burns on more than 50% of her body, according to officials.

“She’s claiming it was a mistake,” said 35-year-old Corey Brock, Naomi’s father. “It’s impossible. She knows what she did because she was trying to flee the country.”

Because of the child’s existing poor health, she was unable to fight off pneumonia and a blood infection that the medical examiner later determined was caused by the burns.

“The tiny victim suffered extraordinarily painful injuries for several days before she died,” said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown. “This is a terribly sad and tragic case that could have been prevented.”

Adebayo told cops she had placed her hand in the water before putting Naomi into the bath and only realized the dangerous temperature when she took the toddler out and saw the skin on her legs peeling off, according to the Queens DA’s office.

But medical workers later told investigators the nature of the injuries did not fit with Adebayo’s account, and that the child was likely submerged waist-deep in 130-degree water for 30 seconds, according to officials.

Authorities believe that Adebayo intentionally put the child in the dangerously hot water, although her motive was unclear.

Naomi’s grieving mother struggled to find the words to describe her loss.

“She was the strongest person I knew, not baby, strongest person I ever knew,” said a shaken Cynthia Mondesire.“It’s senseless. She was my only baby.”

The 32-year-old medical assistant said she suffered two miscarriages before Naomi was born.

“With everything that she’s gone through, she was a fighter,” Mondesire said. “She was just starting to thrive.”

The governor of Anambra State, has expanded the scope of his efforts to turn Anambra State into a model agricultural state, attracting $61m investments into commercial poultry farming in the state.
Signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lynden Integrated Farms Limited in the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Tuesday, for the establishment of a modern poultry production and processing farm in the state, Governor Obiano emphasized that Agriculture remains the number one pillar in his economic agenda.
According to him, the proposed ultra-modern poultry farm which will be located on seven hectares of land in Igbariam will generate 250 jobs during construction and 200 permanent jobs as well as 2000 indirect jobs subsequently.
Speaking further on the plans of his administration to alter the agricultural landscape of the South East, Governor Obiano observed that, “at the moment all the day-old chicks sold in the South East are brought in from Oyo state. We want to change that. We want all the day-old chicks sold in this area to come from Anambra State.”
He further explained that his plan is to approach agriculture in two areas – create a favourable and sustainable environment for commercial agriculture to thrive and to roll out programmes that will upgrade the class of machete and hoes wielding farmers to adapt to the use of new implements and improved seedlings. “We have mapped out specific areas where cassava, rice and maize will best and established cooperatives in those specific areas. We plan to play to our full strength in agriculture,” the governor assured.
Earlier in his introductory remarks, the Chairman of Lynden Integrated Farms Limited, Mr. Clem Nwogbo had explained that his company plans to develop a two-phased modern integrated poultry production and processing farm with day-old chicks and then subsequently upgrade its facilities in order to provide high quality meat, eggs from layers and fresh and frozen poultry meat from broilers.
“The first phase of this facility will comprise the setting up of 200,000 broiler houses with 8 pens, 93,000 layer house with 3 pens, 33,000 pullets house with 1 pen, 2000 birds per house slaughter house and a feed mill. We plan to double the production capacity of this farm by extending the broiler and layer houses to accommodate 400,000 broilers, 186,000 layers and 66,000 pullets after 3 years of full operation of the first phase,” Mr. Nwogbo further explained.
According to him, Lynden Integrated Farms Limited has the capacity to position Anambra state as the center of excellence in poultry farming in the South East and South South. Thanking Governor Obiano for creating the enabling environment that has encouraged investors to flock to Anambra State, Mr. Nwogbo explained that Lynden was committed to commissioning the facility 15 months after the turning of sod on the proposed site.
Mr. Nwogbo further revealed that the company plans to implement a robust CSR programme which will encourage the adoption of the best practices in poultry farming to small scale farmers, support educational initiatives in the host community and supply day-old chicks to farmers under and out-grower scheme.
Earlier, the Chairman, Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, and Traditional Ruler of Umuoji, Igwe Cyril Enwezor explained that the equity ratio of the company is 90% for the investing Company, 6% for the state government and 4% for the host community.

PoliticsRe: Xenophobia-south Africa,tribalism-nigeria:african Dilemma Of Hate by AustineE1(op): 1:00pm On Apr 26, 2015
Continuation
Part 2.
But South Africa is surely not alone in its treatment of African immigrants, in the 80’s Nigeria organised a mass deportation of Ghanaians in a campaign christened “Ghana must go.” Ghana had earlier done same to Nigerians. In Angola and practically all African countries African immigrants are treated like scum while Asian or European immigrants are worshipped. There is something in the psyche or psychology of the Black African that makes him hate his own kind. There is not a single African country where an African immigrant can settle down, feel at home and be integrated. Ironically, African immigrants can find the peace and settlement they never found amongst their own kind in Africa in faraway foreign lands in Europe or the America’s.
Unfortunately, African nations have not done anything to challenge these long held assumptions.
If anything, the plethora of bad news and barbarity often manifested in the continent
only serves to vindicate these assumptions
Locally in Nigeria the problem of tribalism is even worse. The Nigeria quagmire reminds me of a polygamous man married to many wives whose children by the different wives are indoctrinated by their mothers to hate, vilify, oppress, marginalise and in extreme cases kill the children of other women. Though the children are all from the same father, their different mothers have created a situation where the children as educated by their mothers would rather patronise, love or help total strangers than have anything to do with their siblings from a different mother. The analogy of the polygamous father with many wives is the tragic situation of Nigeria’s different ethnic groups under one nation with each being taught to hate the other. Though Nigerian leaders fattened by their loot like to pretend otherwise, Nigeria is a deeply divided country along ethnic and religious lines that has frequently erupted in violence. The existence of an ethnic cold war is all too evident in Nigerian forums where all kinds of ethnic vitriol and abuse are hauled by internet urchins.
The recent elections have only further revealed how ethnically divided Nigerians are as different individuals and groups abdicated democratic principles and chose ethnic abuse, threats and intimidation to advance their candidates. From the Oba of Lagos who threatened a section of the country with death if they didn’t vote for his imperial candidate to the many internet urchins on facebook, twitter and other social media outlets that likewise indulged in abuse and threats, it is obvious the nation is poisoned by tribalism. To demonstrate how bad the situation is; Nigeria is the only country on earth where you become a foreigner once you leave your so called state of origin to reside in another state. A nation that exists in name only, in reality you are a foreigner in more than 95% of the country outside your home state. Indeed even in the supposedly cosmopolitan former federal capital city of Lagos you are constantly reminded of this fact.
A house divided against itself cannot stand. Nigeria has moved from MEND, OPC, MASSOB to Boko Haram while more than 250,000 people have been killed with another 300,000 maimed in decades of ethno religious riots engendered by tribalism and religious fundamentalism. With these sorry realities the Nigerian leadership refuses to accept the necessity or importance of nation building. Already a failed state, this denial of an obvious truth will ensure that the poisoned chalice of tribalism with which Nigeria is deeply afflicted will more than anything else kill the country sooner or later. Much of Africa is riddled with the same crises from Rwanda to Burundi; DRC to Sudan, Africa suffers from a self-consuming dilemma of hate. The little effort made by the likes of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Leopold Sedar Senghor and Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe in Pan -Africanism was not rooted before these noble men passed on and left Africa to the perpetual conflict and chains of tribalism that has ruined the continent.
Africa has consequently continued to vindicate those who say the black race is inferior and cannot build a modern state. With the barbarity in South Africa, tribalism in Nigeria and ethno-religious conflicts in much of Africa the narrative of African inferiority is being consolidated by the day. We all as Africans are guilty one way or the other by the unnecessary tribal sentiments, prejudice and hate we hold against other Africans and fellow nationals. We must look at ourselves in the mirror and realise that the problem and solution lies in us. We must accordingly begin to change our attitude. Harmony and attendant prosperity is in our collective interest the alternative being a continuation of our dilemma of hate and the sure destruction that accompanies it to which the unenviable ruin of the African continent remains a testament.

Xenophobia - South Africa, Tribalism - Nigeria: African Dilemma of Hate
SPECIAL REPORTS

2015-04-25 18:41:37
I have often heard it said by racists and others that Black Africans are incapable of building a modern, civilised, harmonious, democratic and lawful state. Their argument is based on the assumptions that Black Africans are uncivilised savages whose primitive leanings render them incapable of building a modern state. Francis Fukuyama in his book the origins of political order placed Black Africans last on his categorisation of races. Again, his conclusion was based on the long held assumptions of Black African inferiority. Interestingly; the proponents of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, apartheid, segregation and other forms of racial subjugation and discrimination all premised and justified their actions on the same assumptions. Unfortunately, African nations have not done anything to challenge these long held assumptions. If anything, the plethora of bad news and barbarity often manifested in the continent only serves to vindicate these assumptions.
A case in point is the savage and despicable inhumanity manifested in the senseless xenophobic or “afrophobic” attacks as some prefer to call it on African immigrants resident in South Africa. Immigrants mainly from other African countries have been burned to death, stabbed to death while their shops have been looted before the gaping and shocked eyes of a global audience. That this could happen in a country once held hostage by White Apartheid leaders for which the rest of Africa rallied for their freedom speaks volumes. And this would not be the first time such “afrophobic” attacks have occurred. In 2008, similar brutal attacks claimed the lives of 62 people from Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Malawi who were likewise slaughtered before the eyes of a global audience. These barbarities no doubt feeds into the long held assumptions of Black Africans as an uncivilised savage race.
I have often heard it said by racists and others that Black Africans are incapable of building a
modern, civilised, harmonious, democratic and lawful state. Their argument is based on the
assumptions that Black Africansare uncivilised savages whose primitive leanings
render them incapable of building a modern state
That a country such as South Africa with modern infrastructure and functional institutions inherited from the erstwhile Apartheid regime could not prevent the descent into raw hostilities against fellow Africans underscores the beginning of the decline of the South African state. The problem is not helped with the troubling fact that both the Zulu king and the son of the president made inciting remarks against African immigrants that helped in large part to ignite the violence. South Africa is regrettably beginning to go the way of other African countries marked by failed and failing states enveloped in corruption, bad governance and engaged in ethnic, religious and terrorist conflicts. There is not a single modern African state where social justice and the rule of law reign supreme, all are shambolic states where the barbarities that are beginning to take shape in South Africa is either common place or can erupt at any time.
With recurrent episodes and an evolving culture of savage attacks on African immigrants, it won’t take long before the attackers would find new enemies amongst their own people and like other African countries the floodgates of inter-ethnic conflicts would be opened in South Africa. Justifying blames are today heaped on African immigrants, tomorrow it could be the Zulu or Zhosa amongst other South African ethnic groups that could suffer the same blame and the internalisation of the carnage would begin. Frankenstein’s always turn around to devour its creator and this is a sure path of perdition that South Africa is sure to travel in due course except the government acts decisively. Indeed there is already a precedent as the Zulu Inkatha Freedom Party led by Mangosuthu Buthelezi unleashed a wave of violence against other black South Africans just prior to the end of Apartheid (at that time there were no African immigrants to attack), it took a deft political management and negotiation by Nelson Mandela to nip the crises in the bud. The undercurrents of such conflicts remain embedded within the South African society as the xenophobic or afrophobic attacks demonstrate and in time the chickens will surely come home to roost and South Africa will have to deal with a demon it created and allowed to fester.
