Hello y'all.
I applied for study permit visa to Canada on Oct 26, 2016 online. Did biometics Nov 9 or thereabout and got medical mail Jan 17.

The thing is I did medical upfront at Prime Medical Consultants Sept 15 in Port Harcourt but somehow my sis (in Canada) missed uploading the medical sheet when submitting my application. I went back to the said hospital last two wks thursday. I later got to know they forwarded my results the following sunday. My account still hasnt been updated yet. I was even at d hospital last friday and they claimed to have sent my results still. My sis has also sent an inquiry to cic online on that (last thursday).

Pls good people what do I do? Has there been a slightly similar case like mine that I could learn from?
You should contact the hospital again and tell/show them the medical doc CIC sent to you so that they forward your medical result using the UMI( Unique medical identifier)in the email.
The missed sheet caused the situation because as at the time you do an upfront medical, the hospital will generate a UMI number(usually on the upfront sheet) and later forward your result using this number for CIC to locate it in their database.
But now that CIC have sent you a medical mail and the upfront sheet wasn't uploaded, they apparently could not locate your result and have generated a UMI number for you other than the one the hospital generated.
So quickly contact the hospital showing them the doc from CIC and they will send your result using the UMI from CIC.

Good evening Gurus in the house.
I'm trying to gather my documents for the TRV application. My sponsor is my uncle, we bear the same surname. He's a registered nurse in the US. please what are the documents I can request from him that will proof our connection together to the VO. we've not seen in a very long time so, I don't have a picture we took together.

Thank yo for your response.
Since you both bear the same surname, i'm assuming he is your paternal uncle.
In such case, you need your birth certificate, his birth certificate and your father's birth certificate showing the same parents and surname.

Applicant Profile.
It was extremely convincing. The SOP had citations (citing sources such as the IMF, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey Global Institute, KPCB, etc) showing he had done market research into the economic areas that he intends to operate once he returns to Nigeria. He provided information on estimated market size (in customer population and $billions), total revenue of certain economic sectors, how he plans to make money in those sectors, he briefly analyzed the economic players in the economic sector relevant to his future studies, and he suggested how he plans to disrupt the players in that sector. He used the SOP as an opportunity for the VO to fully understand him, his passions, his educational journey, how his interests evolved, his business acumen and professionalism, and more.

He concluded each paragraph of the SOP by tying the paragraph’s contents with his future Canada education, or long-term Nigeria aspirations, or the skills he would gain from the Canada education.
Nice nice!! Congratulation to you both! Even if the VO reviewing his app were to be mount zion that cannot be moved, this plans and analysis can even make a VO want to adopt your family friend or pray they get paired together in MMM considering the written prospect. Hahaha. it's really impressive! Weldone bro.

Good day guys, i need someone to advice me. I am currently a masters degree student in one of the Eastern European countries and i have a PhD admission offer in Canada with studentship to cover living expenses. However i intend to apply for TRV from my country of residency,
On the CIC form i was asked my current status in the country of residence which i filled as a student to graduate 2018.
Will that hinder my application given that i would definitely abandon the programme and move to Canada if granted TRV.
No, it won't hinder your application. Anyone can decide to go for something that will better add value to him/her.
A PHD offer is even much more advantagous and canada will gladly want to have you in their country to add value.
They will only be concerned about your legal status in country of residence when you file in your application as well as the processing time.
If your legal stay allow for the time frame, you are fine. Once the review your application and a positive decision made, they expect you to go their country and be of more advantage to them. Who no like better thing? Just get in a good application.

Thanks Austin. Finished first B.Ed in 2008, second B.Sc in 2016 and 6years work experience.

The position i am aiming for is the Head of Finance position and I am 29 years old
With this profile, you will be considered an established, experienced and mature professional/applicant. In this case, your general plans after studies will be more in-view than studying the PGD program which in turn should translate to a progression academically and careerwise.
A PGD in canada normally is not a direct route to a master degree program as both are tailored to serve different purposes depending on which you qualify for and overall serve your personal interest moving forward.

Well, since they know you very well now(education and work experience profile), a PGD is not going to help your profile, consider getting into a Pre-masters program if you can since an MBA isn't what you are ready for right now.

Make a study plan clear and precise in your SOP if you eventually consider this, your overal intentions will still have to out weigh the study level you will present to CIC, they have your profile and with a 3rd attempt, the greater percentage of your next application review may likely lie on, where and how will all these effort help and end him moving ahead?

Ensure you show them your genuine intentions through a more conviencing application and surely, It will end well.
Truly wish you the best in the next application.

Application delayed again!
Well... Guess the PGD is the issue cos i addressed all issues raised in GCMS note.

1st application: PGD International Business Management
Bachelors degree: B.Ed Economics. (Didint add my 2nd bachelors degree, Bsc Applied accounting)
Reasons for delay:
1. purpose of visit
2. Current employment situation
3. Length of stay in Canada

2nd application: PGD International Business Management
Bachelors degree: B.Ed Economics added Bsc Applied accounting, Advanced diploma in accounting and business from ACCA (a global professional accounting body) ACCA completion certificate

Other docs: All employment letters from two previous companies and current company, application for study leave, Leave letter/ Leave certificate granted 2 years study leave, recommendation letter from company, payslips.

Reasons for delay
:
1. Travel history (Been to Dubai - 2014)
2. Purpose of visit.

Brethren... What else can a man do? Genuinely want a business management post grad qualification cos i am a chartered accountant already and cos of the position i am aiming for in the company i work.
Sorry about the refusal. Now to my bold statements,
1. No, PGD isn't the issue, your circumstances in pursuant of a PGD is!
2. How long since you left university?
3. How many years of work experience do you have in either your current occupation or any managerial(financial/business) level of some sort in addition to being a chartered accountant?
4. The position you are aiming at, will it be at top level of your establishment and was this somehow mentioned in your application?
5. How old are you?
If you could give more details on these, i'm sure the real reasons won't be far fetched.

Anyone with a better understaning of the process should kindly advice me on what to do .
Alot of people here too are in the same situation with you so you really are not alone.
Worrying won't make them process your application faster but positivism and optimism will help you pull through as you await a response from them.
Have they contacted you for medicals yet or did you do an upfront medical? in anycase, they will get back to you. Sadly, nobody can say when. You may also want to contact your intended school to inform them about the situation and be advised about the next line of action since you've paid your fees already.
Still remain positive though.

Goodafternoon to you too. I'm doing just fine. I trust you are too.
Actually, this thread is for studying in canada. Visiting canada for other purposes isn't widely discussed here.
But to give a little info,
1. Processing time for each category of visa and processing office have been outlined on CIC website. see link here
http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLIsh/information/times/index.asp

2. Your actual purpose of visiting canada(tourism/family, friends visit/business)will determine the documents you will need to submit during your application.

3. Everything you need to gather from CIC forms to supporting documents have been listed on CIC website, pls take sometime to go through them, you'll be better informed
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/

4. Here is also a link to the nairaland visiting/tourist visa to canada thread, you may find it very useful too as you read and ask questions there when you have to. https://www.nairaland.com/2103860/canada-visit-tourist-visa-discussion

All the best to you in your application.

YES THRICE AND THESE IS MY FOURTH APPLIC4ATION
Sebho:
yes i have been refuse before but all bear different application number
When you submit a first time application or a re-application after a previous refusal, a new application number will be generated other than the one you filled in your CIC app form.(in the case of re-application).
The new application number on each refusal letter is the new application number for that application and it is different from the one you filled in the form when reapplying because, once a previous application has been closed and refused, it cannot be opened again, a new application number will be assigned to a new application(fresh or re-application).
I want to believe the 'last read' you saw was on your CIC account dashboard. If so, it has notin to do with CIC, it only tells you the last time you clicked on your dashboard to check the status of your application. If you click on your check status on your cic account now and refresh the page, it will show you a last read of , 20 january, 2017. The final decision date(13th dec 2016) was when your application was closed and updated. Last read(30th dec 2016) the recorded date you clicked your dashboard.
Absolutely nothing to worry over. But should you choose to apply again, i will advise you order for your GCMS file and know exactly what to tackle, your profile with CIC is already getting messy with a fourth refusal. You should get it right at any more attempt. Best regards.

Bro i paid my fees myself just using him as my sponsor, am married and working.
Oh! If you are using him as sponsor, question will be in what capacity? He is already a 3rd party sponsor and some level of commitment to you must be seen not just saying he will sponsor you.
So he may want to elaborate on his responsibilities to your studies in his letter by atleast stating he will be responsible for your upkeep since you paid your tuition yourself and show a strong prove to that by atleast transfering a good amount to you.
Meanwhile, i hope you have shown documentary evidences on how you will raise the tuition for subsequent year(s) in your financial documents if your prog is more than a year.
If you have, you are good. If you are using him as sponsor, more than stating it, let him show commitment to convience the VO.

My uncle is my sponsor with same surname. Birth certificate and state of origin for both of us cleared dat. In my first application I never had any issues as regards dat anyway my choice of program was wot killed my application.
Ok. You should be good to go then since he has commited by paying your first year fees. Also, if you can have him transfer say 2.5m to your account and you leave it from now till when you want to apply before you print your statement while he states the 2.5m will be for your upkeep, it could boost your chances more so they don't start being skpetical as to how you will maintain yourself. All the best
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Austinpee4:
@Eraytee and Penitential, both of you have a point and the back and forth on affídavit and letter of sponsorship shouldn't generate further argument.
Both serve same purpose but the circumstances of the two are not the same. The both can be as detailed as much as you want it to be. While a letter of sponsorship is addressed to a visa officer or whom it may concern, your facts can be assumed true or not(signature can be forged), an affidavit is a binding document by law and a written statement confirmed by oath or affirmation and can be used as evidence in court and it is punishable if voilated. So one can choose to write what so ever you want in any of the documents(affidavit or letter) but one(affidavit) will be written under an oath and legally binding than a letter. Both will serve same purpose for sponsorship and besides, the embassy doesn't specify that an afidavit MUST be submitted, it only shows you have commited yourself under an oath and law and hence can be used against one under a prevailing law if sponsor doesn't live up to responsibility which makes it sometimes trusted even though we know the weakness of our judiciary system.

Please should i trust the agent and proceed or quit? Please ur opinion is needed
Thanks in advance God bless you guys
1. Your friend should be advising you instead with some level of trust in the agent since he/she introduced you to the agent.
2. The decision to proceed or quit is your call. Afterall, it is your cash and time.
3. You should also be informed about everything involving your intentions, it gives you some level of control even if you choose to use an agent.
4.Almost everything about studying in canada(admission-study permit) have been widely discussed on this thread.Find useful information for yourself.

I'm going for undergraduate. I'm not sure about the income but I'm guessing about 1-1.5m per month
Much as I thought @ bold. Undergradute study often time incure huge financial burden and this is so considering number of years of study. If both parents earn the range of income you stated, then one sure way of convincing the VO they can fund your study is to atleast pay a year tuition or even more if they can afford that and also transfer a significant amount of money to an account in your name be it in naira , USD, CAD. Also, their account statements must show they can comfortably earn enough to pay your tuition and upkeep for other years as well as take care of the other 4 dependants comfortably. if they have assets(shares, bond and stocks, lands) or other sources of income, they can add documents to show these as well while elaborating on their financial capacities in the letter(s) of sponsorship.
They have to prove beyong doubt that both you and your family members won't have financial troubles during your study.
Alternatively, if you can get a co-sponsor, Cool! establish a relationship with him/her stating he/she will fend for say your upkeep in addition to all your parents will be funding.
The co-sponsor earnings must be good too.
There is a lot of financial and academic commitment for a 4 year undergraduate degree . Apparently, they want to make sure funds is and will be available while discouraging the slightest idea of working in canada during study or being a liability to their government.
personally, I believe if your parents can pay a year tuition and transfer a good amount of money for one year and with the monthly earning you mentioned reflecting in their account statements, you will be on d edge of an approval. Notwitstanding, the VO discretion will always come to play.
hopefully, you reapplication will come out well. endeavour to convience them with all necessary and required documents.
All the best.
