https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/enugu-state-governor-official-car-8.jpg?w=716&ssl=1 Look at what we found! This is the official vehicle of the incumbent Executive Governor of Enugu State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Gburugburu). It’s an armoured 2013 V12 BMW 760li. That’s a very powerful machine right there. https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/enugu-state-governor-official-car.jpg?resize=536%2C400&ssl=1 It comes with run flat tyres that can still carry the weight of the car for a while even after being shot at or deflated. The run flat tyres can go from 16 kilometers to 80 kilometers (depends on the tyre type). As you can see, the beast was parked with its tyres detached. It came for tyre change. Getting those run flat tyres off their rims was a tug of war using the normal vulcanizer method we all know. It took a lot of time and human strength. It’s sad that such a car was subjected to such a harsh condition. Does it mean there are no proper Tyre Centers in Enugu with hydraulic jacks and tyre removal equipment? They are the few places to easily get a run flat tyre into its rim without much damage. His excellency might not know his official car landed there for tyre changes. https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/enugu-state-governor-official-car-6.jpg?resize=534%2C400&ssl=1 https://i1.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/enugu-state-governor-official-car-4.jpg?resize=537%2C400&ssl=1 https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/enugu-state-governor-official-car-5.jpg?resize=535%2C400&ssl=1 https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/enugu-state-governor-official-car-2.jpg?resize=478%2C639&ssl=1 https://i1.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/enugu-state-governor-official-car-3.jpg?resize=480%2C635&ssl=1 https://autojosh.com/official-car-executive-governor-enugu-state-armoured-bmw-760li/ |
https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/key-stuck-in-ignition-car.jpg?w=671&ssl=1 Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you can’t detach your car key from the ignition? It can be frustrating especially when you don’t have the time to relax and deal with it. When your car key is stuck in your ignition, it’s is good you take things easy and find out the reason why it is stuck. Aggressively turning the key back and forth or pulling, may end up putting you in more troubles; the key might get broken inside. In order to avoid many problems other than just a stuck key, it is imperative you know the reasons why it got stuck in the ignition. Below are the 3 reasons why you car key got stuck in your ignition and how to handle it. 1. Gear lever not in Park Position: When your gear lever is not in Park (P) position, don’t waste your time trying to pull out your key. Car manufacturers programmed it that way. If the lever is in any position other than Park, you will not be able to get the key out of ignition. When you can’t bring out your key from the ignition, kindly ensure that the lever is in Park position. After shifting to P, ensure it’s completely shifted to the position and not half way. https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/automatic-gear.jpg?resize=600%2C348&ssl=1 2. Faulty or damaged Key: As simple as it might look, all those tiny edges and slight hollow lines you see on key matters a lot. Once the key gets out of being how it’s meant to, you might end up struggling with detaching your key from the ignition. Dirt or debris stuck in the car can make the car stuck in the ignition. If you have the habit of multitasking your key, put it to check to avoid all these issues. A perfect example is opening boxes with your key. A damaged key – crack or worn out – can cause this problem as well. Check for cracks and bends on your key. If the key is bad already, have them replaced. https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Key-Shell-Case-For-Peugeot-307-308-407-607-6362678_1.jpg?w=400&ssl=1 3. Locked Steering Wheel: If you’re observant enough, you must have noticed this. When your steering wheel locks, it’s hard and almost impossible to pull out your key. This is due to the ignition cylinder locking at the same time as the steering wheel lock. The steering will only lock when the engine is off. Once the steering locks, this is what to do to get your key out. You have to deactivate the steering wheel lock. Gently jiggle the steering while and at the same time try removing the key. Also ensure the key is turned all the way counter clockwise before trying to remove it. https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Steering-wheel-2.jpg?resize=505%2C400&ssl=1 If you found this post helpful, please don’t forget to share. https://autojosh.com/3-reasons-key-stuck-ignition-ways-fix-it/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun |
https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/dangerous-trailer-bearing-container.jpg?resize=600%2C537&ssl=1 All the way from Orile to Western Avenue, this flatbed trailer bearing a container was this way. As you can see, the container is not well fitted on the trailer and it’s not strapped. This is to tell you that there is no own tie-down devices or locks that attach the container directly on the flatbed trailer. What is the fate of other road users around this death trap? A very serious pothole can make this container flip or fall off. Hard braking and weight transfer can throw it off balance and you know the implications. A lot can be seriously injured or even lose their lives. In as much as the authorities that suppose to put all these in check are not up and doing, we should be mindful of how we put people’s lives at risk. This can also serve as a warning to other road users; if you see such, please do all you can to give them all the space they need. Ensure you’re no place near them. You might be thinking you can be smart enough to maneuver. Accidents happen so fast. There are standard procedures meant to be taken before a trailer bearing a container can hit the road. Some of it include inspecting the container; ensuring it’s not overloaded and that it’s properly balanced. Stay safe out there. Stay focus, be alert and concentrate while driving today no matter how knowledgeable and skillful you are. https://autojosh.com/death-trap-trailer-unbalanced-cargo-container-road/ |

https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/4-runner-suv-rescued-by-man.jpg?w=623&ssl=1 A Twitter user with the handle @hand2ome shared his heroic experience when he was traveling from Lagos to Portharcout City. He recounted his ordeals and how he helped save the lives of the occupants (family) in the Toyota 4Runner SUV. The man behind the wheel lost control and was at the verge of falling inside a big ditch with his family in the SUV; then the good Samaritan intervened. It happened in Ondo State. Below is the story he shared; https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/4-runner-suv-rescued-by-man-2.jpg?resize=580%2C483&ssl=1 So back in August, I was on my way to PHC from Lagos.. in the front seat of one of the GUO buses.. somewhere before Ore, I saw someone waving frantically from inside this 4runner. I quickly alerted the GUO driver and he stopped. then we all ran back to the spot…apparently, this 4runner skidded off the road and was supposed somersault backwards into a very deep ditch by the roadside.. I still can’t explain what kept it hanging/dangling. it was like a touch of the finger will just topple it into the big hole behind it. The driver, probably a young man in his mid 30s just kept his foot on the break. he is a hero. I probably would have been so scared looking out the window to see the valley behind me and my foot will tremble uncontrollably. but he held fast and waved frantically. behind him, there was a woman and two children. first thing we did is take out the children through the window.. then we started waving down trailers.. one Dangote trailer stopped and i dived for the rope underneath it.. no time to check time.. we got two ropes…we quickly tied the ropes accordingly, the trailer tried to move. the ropes both cut.. it was a nervy moment as the suv almost slid off but one rope didn’t cut completely. nervy moment. phewww. remember the man and the woman are still inside. the woman was praying like a warrior So i ran again and blocked another big truck.. i shouted rope rope rope.. that one now stopped.. and they threw one rope for us.. the mother of all ropes.. that one can lift a house. this 4runner is not just being towed, it was to be pulled because the tires. the entire weight when the dangote truck began pulling, it was like the 4 runner was goring to rollover as it wasn’t a straight pull. remember there wasn’t enough space to pull straight. but God in his infinite mercies.. the jeep was out and it’s occupants safe. oh God was I relieved? One thing that struck me was how I forgot that I had a phone during the whole rescue activity. I was all dirty from handling big ropes and going under the truck to tie them. I was so involved that I didn’t even remember that there is something called pictures. it was when we got back in the bus that someone now mentioned pictures. eventually I collected these two pictures via whatsapp from one of my co-travelers. I really felt very useful. remember to drive safe guys. remember to help anyway you can when you can. Big shout out to the GUO driver “sorry I can’t recall his name” who stopped instantly and took part in the rescue process as well. also was really impressed by the Dangote trailer driver, we hear a lot of bad reports but hey.. good reports abound too. blessed. https://autojosh.com/man-shares-saved-helpless-family-falling-ditch-car/ |

This is the height of it all. This man is seen comfortably sitting inside the engine bay of this commercial 1993 Volkswagen Eurovan. This is totally wrong at all levels. First of all, he’s impairing the vision of the bus driver; the bonnet is up. That alone has ended putting all the lives of the occupant in danger. Secondly, does it mean he’s not feeling the heat from the engine bay? What if the driver should slam the brakes in reaction to an impeding danger? That guy might not live to tell his stories. Even if he does, he won’t remain the same. That’s highway for crying out load and not a lonely street of Lagos. https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/man-seen-sitting-in-the-engine-bay-of-1993-volkswagen-Eurovan-2.jpg?w=643&ssl=1 https://i1.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/man-seen-sitting-in-the-engine-bay-of-1993-volkswagen-Eurovan-3.jpg?w=646&ssl=1 https://i1.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/man-seen-sitting-in-the-engine-bay-of-1993-volkswagen-Eurovan-3.jpg?w=646&ssl=1 https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/man-seen-sitting-in-the-engine-bay-of-1993-volkswagen-Eurovan-5.jpg?w=645&ssl=1 https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/man-seen-sitting-in-the-engine-bay-of-1993-volkswagen-Eurovan-6.jpg?w=646&ssl=1 https://autojosh.com/man-sitting-engine-bay-bus-motion-apapa-oshodi-expressway/ |
https://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh634/Autojosh/vulcanizer_zpssfqlejs9.jpg According to FRSC (Federal Road Safety Corps) over 5,000 lives were lost on Nigerian roads due to tyre burst between 2010 and 2016. This is a major pointer to the fact that we have to be careful the way we take care of our car tyres. Furthermore, we have to be careful the type of vulcanizers we permit to touch the tyres of our cars. Some are culpable for the way and manner they improperly handle tyres during repairs. These are 7 absurd things vulcanizers do when fixing car tyres. 1. Eba or Fufu as sealant: If you see any man or woman going in and out of a mama put restaurant to buy 2 or 3 wraps of fufu without buying soup, it is safe to think that he or she is a vulcanizer. Those tyres can eat fufu more than any glutton you've ever met. It's advised that proper tyre bead sealers should be used instead of fufu. The former seals better and some people have not even seen that fufu to eat. 2. Apply saliva on tyre valves: To check if the valves are not leaking, some vulcanizers will take saliva from their mouth with their hand.. and the saliva will be applied on the tip of the tyre valves. This is definitely unhygienic. It is also gross. Tell us how you feel anytime you see this. Do you love it or you usually feel like you want to puke? 3. Steal from your car, tyre or wheel: Always inspect the tyres and wheels of your car immediately after getting them fixed. You'd be surprised that some vulcanizers can pilfer something no matter how unimportant you may think it is. One vulcanizer once stole the small wheel balance weight bar that is used for wheel balancing when we had a flat while on an interstate trip. He resorted to begging for forgiveness after he was caught. Always endeavour to check everything is intact before you step on the gas. Although some of them may make honest mistakes forgetting to return your jack and wheel spanners. 4. Over-Inflation: Always ask your vulcanizer how much air pressure they've inflated your car tyre with. Most of them will say "50" which means 50 PSI. For most cars, this air pressure is far above the recommended figure and this is a major cause of tyre blowouts and loss of traction which can lead to death. For example, the recommended tyre pressure for the car in the photo below is 33 PSI. The recommended pressure can be found on the driver's door pillar as seen in the photos below so don't let any vulcanizer put your life at risk. https://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh634/Autojosh/tyre1_zpsb9j58vsh.jpg 5. Not knowing tyre rotation and direction Some vulcanizers are not literate so they are unable to read and understand the directional signs on the tyres of your car. Even after explaining that this part has "inside" written on it and the other side has "outside" written on it, they still end up criss-crossing everything. The onus lies on you to check it yourself for your own safety. 6. Not tightening the wheel knots properly The last thing you want to happen to you is for the tyre of your car to roll off while in motion. You may have had that wobbly feel after doing a tyre job. Always ensure to check that the wheel knots are proper fastened before you hit the road. This negligence may be disastrous. 7. Damage the lovely rims on your car The wheels of my Toyota Camry suffered in the hands of vulcanizers. They defaced the edges of the gray colour sport wheels the first time the tyre needed a fix. After that, I had to request that they use a tube or cloth to prevent the wheels from scratching. https://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh634/Autojosh/2012-toyota-camry-wheel_zpsu2owq4m5.jpg Which of these issues do you like or dislike? Also add any other thing you think should be on the list so we can learn from you and don't forget to pay attention to your vehicle tyres at all times. https://autojosh.com/vulcanizers |

The Mercedes-Benz 600 Landaulet is an imposing car. This model was built from 1963 through 1981 in small numbers. It was one of the finest and most advanced sedans of their time. It was mostly owned by powerful people. Well, mostly people who believe they own their countries. Though it is not exactly tall, the 600 is very large. It has an aura about it that makes you feel it can only be owned by intimidating figures like Ferdinand Marcos (he had four, actually), Pol Pot, Fidel Castro, Coco Chanel, etc. Each was fitted with different equipment for different requirements imposed by the leader. This particular one is massive, especially in long-wheelbase form. It is nearly 21 feet of Mercedes. It weighs about 4 tons. It is designed to be a state landaulet. It features a solid roof over the front seats and a folding canvas roof on the back half of the car. It is a limo you can stand up and wave to commoners in. Only 59 landaulets were manufactured. This particular Mercedes-Benz 600 Landaulet was owned by Saddam Hussein. The car was stolen and driven by an Iraqi to Jordan as the regime was falling sometime in 2003. A Jordanian car collector who also lives in the U.S. pointed museum staff to the car’s location at the Mercedes-Benz distributor in Jordan. The car is currently on exhibition at the Petersen Automotive Museum, Los Angeles, USA. https://autojosh.com/which-world-renowned-dictator-owns-this-amazing-1978-model-mercedes-benz-600-landaulet/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

https://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh634/Autojosh/2011-honda-civic_zpsemvcfdb5.jpg We've seen several vehicles being recalled in several other countries. However, same can't be said about Nigeria where we usually throw caution to the wind. A recall is not necessarily a bad thing as widely perceived. It could be more of a preventive and proactive measure to ensure car owners are always protected. Vehicle recall occurs when a vehicle manufacturer or a government safety regulatory agency alerts vehicle owners to bring in their vehicles for free repairs when they've realize that the vehicle(s) have safety defects or they do not comply with some safety regulatory standards. The recall notice can be communicated via a letters, emails, text messages, phone calls etc. I've always wondered if we do any form of vehicle recall in Nigeria until recently when I started receiving recall notices from Honda dealership. Their message says: "Your Honda CIVIC is affected by air bag RECALL. Pls take the car to The Honda Place to get the INFLATOR replaced FREE! Call 090-8747-4650. Ignore if done" They've actually sent this message 5 times but we won't be able to benefit from this recall as the car was converted for Uber business in 2016 and a drunk driver eventually wrecked it in an accident. Despite this recall, the inflator worked and the airbags deployed protecting the driver and his friend that sat on the passenger's side. The 2011 Honda Civic which was bought brand new has since been written-off and paid for in full by the insurance company. https://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh634/Autojosh/2018-mercedes-benz-e-class_zpsuzitgydh.jpg 2018 has been an excellent year for the Mercedes-Benz brand as their unit sales in the first eight months increased to 1,512,268 cars going up by 1.1%. Never before in the company’s history were sales of 1.5 million vehicles achieved earlier in the year. In August, 155,918 vehicles were sold worldwide (-8.5%) and the E-Class Saloon and Estate achieved new sales record of 25,367 units in August (+0.4%). This august also marks the 30th consecutive month with global sales of more than 150,000 units due to the ongoing strong demand for cars with the three-pointed star. As expected, however, there was an impact on unit sales in August from challenges relating to vehicle availability, including model changes and delays in vehicle certification in some markets. Nevertheless, Mercedes-Benz defended in the first eight months of the year its position as the best-selling premium brand worldwide. “I am delighted that Mercedes-Benz reached the mark of 1.5 million cars delivered earlier than ever in the year. As a strong team, we will continue to work on meeting the ongoing high demand for our vehicles, also again in terms of delivery,” stated Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing and Sales. “And with the EQC, we have presented the first fully-electric SUV of our EQ product and technology brand to the world public in Stockholm. We will set additional markers and impulses in the market with the EQC,” Seeger continued. https://autojosh.com/mercedes-benz-has-sold-more-than-1.5-million-units Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

Are you the type that like the comfort or showoff of putting your leg on the dashboard? Do you feel the leg room is not enough for you? If your answer to the above questions is yes, then know you’ve been doing the wrong thing as well as putting yourself in danger. Placing your feet on the dashboard will expose you to danger that may have very serious consequences. It might be comfortable at first but it can as well leave you with a long lasting injury if something should go wrong. Airbags deploy between 100 and 220 MPH. If you ride with your feet on the dash and you're involved in an accident, the airbag may send your knees to the back seat. You may think you can be fast to put them down when something is about to go wrong; you should be aware you're not superhuman. You might not be able to act as fast as needed. It is safer you stick to doing the needful. Don't place your legs on the dashboard of your car. The ideal sitting position for the safe use of airbag remains using your seat belt and sitting upright. We will share a story about a lady who paid deaf ears to this warning. She learnt the hard way and now regretting. Read her story below; https://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh634/Autojosh/feet-on-dashboard-1_zpsoe0hlmq7.jpg As soon as Audra Tatum would hop into the passenger seat of a car, the mother of three from Walker County, Georgia, would lean back and relax with her feet up on the dashboard. Her husband warned her about the dangerous habit, but Tatum didn't care — it was comfortable. "All my life I had my legs crossed and my foot on the dash," Tatum told CBS News. "My husband always told me, 'You're going to get in a wreck someday, and you're going to break your legs.'" Tatum assured him he was wrong. "I'll put my foot down in time," she would always reply. But two years ago, on August 2, 2015, Tatum's perspective changed completely. The couple was heading to her parents' house about 4 miles away to pick up her two sons when a car pulled in front of her husband and they T-boned him. Everyone was able to walk away from the scene with scrapes and bruises, except for Tatum. "The airbag went off, throwing my foot up and breaking my nose," Tatum explained. "I was looking at the bottom of my foot facing up at me." Tatum's ankle, femur and arm were all broken by the impact. "Basically my whole right side was broken, and it's simply because of my ignorance," Tatum said. "I'm not Superman. I couldn't put my foot down in time." Tatum underwent several surgeries and weeks of physical therapy. It took her over a month to start walking again. Two years later, she's still facing obstacles. "I can't do my career as an EMS. I can't lift patients anymore," she explained. "I can't stand more than 4 hours at a time. Once I'm at that 4-hour mark I'm in tears." Now the mom is using her story to warn others. "I keep telling everybody, you don't want this life," she said. "You don't want the pain and agony every day." https://autojosh.com/dangers-placing-feet-dashboard-car/ |
