This is a popular Edo adage that has suffered enormous misinterpretations.

This literal adage has been misinterpreted to mean that the Oba of Benin does not travel outside his domain.

However, because we are a people who pay little attention to history, we conveniently missed several events in the pasts where successive Obas of Benin traveled outside their domain.

For instance, in April 2004, the late Royal Majesty Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa I, was in Lagos to launch the controversial book, “I Remain, Sir, Your Obedient Servant” – a book he authored.

Indeed, history is replete with events where different Obas of one of the world’s most outstanding cultures had sojourned outside their kingdom.

The interior of a car especially the dashboard is one of the part of a car that can make the car look very beautiful and pleasing to the eyes.

Take your time to check the interiors of most exotic cars and see how the dashboard would always cease your gaze. You can’t help yourself more than to admire what was carefully and meticulously designed and implemented by the car companies.

The Nigeria Senate has made it a mandatory for every driver plying on Nigerian roads to be able to read, write and communicate effectively in the English language in addition to their driving qualifications.

The senate gave authority to it’s committee on transportation to work together with necessary government establishment and other stakeholders responsible for road safety in Nigeria to ensure every driver is educated.

The senate President, Bukola Saraki said the road safety and Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) must do the appropriate thing and shun corruption, especially in granting of permission to drive.

“Licenses must be obtained by going through the normal test that is required. What we are seeing now is corruption and not following due process. The effect of that is people are losing lives. People must see that they have a responsibility in ensuring that people go through the right process is very important because lives are lost when we have drivers that are not capable or do not have the necessary qualifications.

“The challenge is to those responsible for this and our Committee on Transport should provide their oversight and ensure that Road Safety and Vehicle inspection offices carry out the necessary work,” Saraki said.

Tomorrow is the D-day.

They also love the display of power but do not appreciate the responsibility that go along with power.

However, the maverick Portuguese coach is often seen going to the training ground in a Jaguar F-Pace. The car is one of the least affordable cars in his collection. The car is said to be worth around N17million (£34k).

Incidentally, Jose, most times, prefers to be driven to training. That way, it enables him plan his training sessions on the way there.

Another top coach that loves simplicity when it comes to his choice of cars is the Chelsea FC boss, Antonio Conte.

The Chelsea boss is typically driven to work by his wife in a in a N7.5m (£14) budget Nissan Duke. A brand new one of the car cost around N24m (£47k).

He often comes to the training grown in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, also driven by his wife.

Sam Allardyce is one man that loves good things. However, he is one man that would rather acquire them at far below their market value.

Perhaps, that explains why he acquired a “tokunbo” Bentley Continental, one that he bought at a charity auction.

It is not known how much he bought the Bentley Continental. However, the brand new of Allardyce’s Bentley cost around N50.2m (£100k).

Sam Allardyce, said to be worth around £10million, is reported to be on weekly salary of a £100k at Everton. Perhaps, an upgrade is mostly likely to occur soon.

This top-of-the-range Range Rover Evoque is estimated to cost around N17.5m (£31k).

Alan Pardew is also on record to have acquired a Bentley Continental GT when he was the coach of Crystal Palace. The Bentley is valued at around N80m (£155k). Pardew was on a salary then of of £1.5m at Palace.

He may have had to downgrade to the Evoque when he became the manager at West Brom.

“Zizou” the Champions League winning player and coach of Real Madrid owns a fleet of luxury cars. Although he often drives an Audi Estate to training at Real Madrid.

He is also seen driving around Madrid in an Audi hatchback worth around N11m (£21k). Audi is Real Madrid’s sponsor, by the way. He also drives a Range Rover Evoque and a Mercedes Maybach worth around N36m (£70k).

For a man who enjoyed an illustrious career as a player with top clubs, and who currently earns £5.1m annually, he can conveniently afford that.

Simeone is also known to own the Hyundai’s IONIQ, a car that he got from the Athletico Madrid sponsor, Hyundai brand. He presented the new electric car Hyundai IONIQ on October 10, 2016 in Madrid, Spain. It is a hybrid motor with a relatively low price of around N11m (£20k).

The parking lot of the training field of the Liverpool FC always features a mix of expensive exotic cars such as Bentleys, Lamborghinis, etc.

However, one car typically stands out for its simplicity. It is the Opel Insignia. The car is owned by the Liverpool FC boss, Jurgen Klopp. The car is worth a moderate N10m (£18k).

Indeed, such industry and determination ought to be encouraged. With some encouragement and support, such project has the potential to come out much better.

What is a British royal wedding without a horse-drawn carriage?

So, in keeping with tradition, the soon-to-be-wedded Britain’s Princess Harry and Meghan Markle have picked an open-top horse-drawn Ascot Landau cart from the royal carriage collection for use during their wedding procession.

As we move around town, it is a common feature to see stickers or emblem displayed in and on cars. These emblems could be flags, effigies, etc.

It is also common to see emblems that depicts your preferred political party. For instance, APC flags are very common features on many vehicles these days. However, and strangely too, one hardly see PDP flags being displayed in cars. I wonder why? Anyway, that’s a topic for another day.

The Lagos State Government is demonstrating that it has no tolerance for misbehavior from its employees.

The State Government recently sacked five officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA. They were relieved of the jobs for offences ranging from extortion, harassment and violation of Lagos State Public Service Rules.

General Manager, LASTMA, Olawale Musa disclosed this on Thursday, saying that the agency recommended five of the unruly officials for dismissal and demote 14 others, adding that 15 others were issued letters of warning, while three were exonerated after careful investigation.

According to the GM, LASTMA, “The affected officers appeared in the month of April before the Personal Management Board (discipline) to defend and make presentation on various actions that bothered on indiscipline against them,”

In addition, Musa condemned incessant attacks of traffic officials by motorists, especially commercial drivers, saying the officials were on the roads to ensure motorists and commuters get to their destinations without stress and discomfort.

It was a scary moment yesterday for popular comedian and actor, Kevin Hart, when his private jet burst a tyre as it landed at Boston’s Logan Airport.

The comedian was traveling in company of fellow comedians, Na’im Lynn, Spank Horton and a stylist, John Burgandee.

Hart later posted a photo on Instagram showing the four of them squatting down by the wing of the plane with hands clasped in prayer.

He captioned the post thus:

‘God is Good with a capital G…Had our first serious Airplane scare today. Our planes tire busted on one side as we were landing and s*** got real for a second. No body was harmed…Our pilot handled the situation perfectly.’

‘Once again God is GOOD!!!! #Blessed ….P.S you Can tell that spank is still shaken up by the way he is posing,’ followed by several laughing emojis.

It was reported that Kelvin Hart traveled to Boston for Game 2 of the NBA playoff series between the Philadelphia 76ers and Celtics.

1. Okada Air, during the time of its operation, was one of the largest independent airlines in Africa.


2. It was established in 1983 with a fleet of BAC-One Eleven 300s and started charter operations in September of the same year.

3. In 1984, the airline acquired a Boeing 707-355C was for cargo operations.


4. By 1990, Okada airline acquired ten BAC One-Elevens were bought, and eight more were acquired in 1991.


5. Okada Airline was granted the right of operating international flights in 1992. At one point, it operated the Boeing 747-100 on ad-hoc charter flights across the globe, even across the Pacific Ocean. They also flew pilgrims to the Holy Lands every year.


6. The airline had a good safety record, and did attempt to provide a western style of service. However, on 26th June 1991, an Okada Air BAC
One-Eleven 402AP, registration 5N-AOW, force-landed 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) off Sokoto Airport due to fuel exhaustion. There were three fatalities, all of them passengers. The aircraft had been diverted from the original Benin City–Kano route because of bad weather at the airport of destination.

These days we have all sort of aircraft. Some of them are designed for specific purpose. For instance, there are aircraft that are designed specifically for warfare, commercial travels, cargo services, reconnaissance, etc. Meanwhile, some are designed to offer pleasure trips.

However, aircraft have evolved over time. They have generally undergone an enormous modification and upgrade. The way aircraft are today have not always looked that way.

The first airplane was invented by the Wright Brothers – Wilbur and Orville Wright.

These brothers, who were aviation engineers, invented and built the world’s first successful aircraft.

They successful flew the aircraft four miles south of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in the United States in December 17, 1903.

In 1904–05, the brothers developed their flying machine into the first practical fixed-wing aircraft.

Although they were not the first to build experimental aircraft, however, the Wright brothers were the first to invent aircraft controls that made fixed-wing powered flight possible.

The brothers’ fundamental breakthrough was their invention of three-axis-control which enabled the pilot to steer the aircraft effectively and to maintain its equilibrium. This method became and remains standard on fixed-wing aircraft of all kinds.

They started the Wight Model A, the world’s first production airplane. From 1907 to 1909, they produced variations of this aircraft.

Till date, the basic principles of flight that the Wright brothers applied still pertain, however, there have been enormous changes over the years to the means by which those principles are understood and applied.

Our ability to see clearly while driving is very essential to our safety. An obstructed vision because of poor visibility can lead to grave consequences.

Your eyes are your first line of defense. If you cannot see properly, you will not be able to avoid problems. If you cannot see the hazard, you will not be able to deal with it.

Poor vision while driving can be caused by a number of factors. For instance: (a.) cracks on the windshield or mirror. (b.) dirt on the outside of the windscreen or on the mirror. (c.) Smudging or stains from wiping with a dirty cloth or hands (d.) hand or finger prints on the windscreen or mirrors. This can cause real problems with glare when the sun is low on the horizon. (e.) poorly adjusted mirrors. (f.) dust or frost on the outside (and/or inside) of the windscreen or on the mirrors.

So, here are a few tips on how to get your mirrors and windscreen ready in order to have a safe trip.

1.Always clean your windscreen and mirrors before a trip.

2.Always adjust your mirrors in a way that all the blind spots are minimized.

3.Check your windscreen wipers regularly to make sure they are in good condition. Otherwise, a bad wiper can result in scratches on your windscreen.

4.Regularly wash the inside of the windscreen to remove dust, dirt and smudging.

5.Keep your windscreen washer reservoir full and either top it up regularly or keep a spare jug in the vehicle.

6.Make an effort to clean your windscreen at least once in a week. It only takes a few minutes.

7.When cleaning your windscreen or mirrors, use a dry microfiber cloth for the interior, glass cleaner and towel for the exterior, and add a bit of white vinegar to both sides to make them shine.

8.When cleaning, check your windscreen for cracks and proactively take care of them immediately. A small crack can turn into a big crack over time and can lead you to needing your whole windshield replaced.

9.Inside a garage or a carport are great places to park ones vehicle. These places protect your windscreens in case of extreme weather or an unexpected fallen tree

The Ondo State Sector Commander (RS 11.2) of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Akure, Vincent Jack, is dead.

He died from an undisclosed illness. Due to the illness, he was away from his official duties until his death.


While confirming the news, Anotonia Oni, the Sector Public Enlightenment Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ondo State, Akure said that the death of Mr. Jack was a rude shock to the staff of the FRSC in the State.

According to report monitored online, Mr. Vincent Jack died in Lagos.
