The Lagos state government does not shy from announcing how they want Lagos to be reputed as a Mega city. Lagos state, which is home to about 22 million Nigerians, is currently ranked the 5th largest economy in Africa. The state government is making deliberate effort to push it to the 3rd largest economy on the continent. To earn and promote the image of a Mega City, the Lagos state government has been putting in massive infrastructures in place in critical sectors of the Lagos economy such as transport sector, road construction and rehabilitation, construction of lay-bys, and flyovers among others, etc. On February 6, 2017, Governor Ambode announced that he was planning to ban Danfo buses in the metropolis by the end of the year. This he believes is necessary, as Danfos do not compliment the state’s ambition to be recognized as a respectable Mega city. In his words, “When I wake up in the morning and see all these yellow buses and see Okada and all kinds of tricycles and then we claim we are a mega city, that is not true and we must first acknowledge that that is a faulty connectivity that we are running”. No doubt, the government is putting in enormous efforts to achieve the status of one of the world’s Mega Cities. https://i67.tinypic.com/vcqxad.jpg https://i67.tinypic.com/292brjk.jpg https://i68.tinypic.com/30kc13t.jpg However, no one appears to have noticed that the idea of Lagos becoming a Mega city of reckoning amounts to a cruel joke if the state government still builds or retains open drainage systems. Indeed, the sight of some of these drainage systems does no justice to the much desired status of Lagos as a mega city. See more pictures of some very filthy and disgraceful drainage systems in Lagos HERE. Or what do you think? https://autojosh.com/mega-city-why-does-the-lagos-state-government-still-construct-open-drainage-system/ |

Oh no! This convertible Range Rover Velar was not created by Jaguar Land Rover. It was created by a negligent truck driver in England who forgot to lower the deck of the truck before entering the highway. Hence, the deck collided with a bridge. The truck driver will not be getting any accolades for this creativity as the police is already making a case of lack of care and attention. This is a clear case of a wrong approach to a good deed. https://autojosh.com/first-convertible-range-rover-velar-spotted-photos/

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class L Sedan has been revealed shortly after the 2019 A-Class hatchback was released. A new variant of the compact-class family – in the guise of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class L Sedan – will already be celebrating its premiere at Auto China 2018 in Beijing. This particular release which is the Long Wheelbase variant will hardly be seen on Nigerian roads as it is built for the Chinese market. However, trust Nigerians, we expect to start seeing the shorter wheelbase which is meant for the general market in the 4th quarter of 2018. On board is the MBUX multimedia system – Mercedes-Benz User Experience – with unique learning abilities thanks to artificial intelligence. Of course, the popular WeChatMyCar app is integrated. MBUX makes it possible for the first time for two or more users to connect simultaneously to the system. When developing the Mercedes-Benz A-Class L Sedan (length/width/height: 4609/1796/1460 mm) a focal point was the kneeroom for rear passengers. As a result, at 2789 mm, the wheelbase is 60 mm longer than in the hatchback model (2729 mm). The boot has a capacity of 420 litres. At the market launch, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class L Sedan will be available with an all-aluminium four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1.33 litres with power outputs of 161 hp (with cylinder shut-off); following later will be the 2-litre four-cylinder engine with CONICSHAPE trumpet honing and CAMTRONIC variable valve timing. The latter engine has an output of 188 hp. The 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission comes as standard. https://autojosh.com/2019-mercedes-benz-a-class-now-comes-as-a-saloon-as-well-photos/

https://i68.tinypic.com/2ep7xw8.jpg After six generations of unprecedented success in the entry-luxury sedan category, the next-generation Lexus ES is forging a new, more ambitious path. Long known for its unparalleled comfort, refinement and luxury appointments, the seventh-generation ES builds on its strengths with an all-new chassis that allows for a more dynamic exterior design and the introduction of the first ES F SPORT. Representing the third vehicle in the Future Chapter of Lexus that started with the LC coupe and LS sedan, the new ES expands that vision of the brand’s future to a broader audience. Traditional buyers will find the new ES more spacious, quieter and safer than ever before while a new generation of customers will be introduced to a sedan with sharpened performance, class-leading active safety technology and a level of craftsmanship rarely found in this segment. The New Dimension of ES Design Built on the all-new Global Architecture – K (GA-K) platform, the new ES pushes the limits of design in the luxury sedan class. This ES is longer (+2.6 in), lower (-.2 in) and wider (+1.8 in.) than before. Its stance and proportions reflect its newfound performance capabilities and give the ES the kind of eye-catching appearance that will make owners take a second look as they walk away. https://i68.tinypic.com/2hn2b78.jpg Project Chief Designer, Yasuo Kajino, describes the look of the ES as “provocative elegance”. “The ES has always been an elegant luxury sedan. For this generation, we have added daring design elements that challenge the traditional expectations of buyers.” All ES 350s are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 that is designed to deliver commanding acceleration along with an invigorating sound. With an update to D4-S fuel injection, the impressively smooth engine now develops 302 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. Both of those numbers are up significantly (+34 hp, +19 lb-ft) compared to the previous generation V6. In addition to the boost in power, the ES 350 also benefits from a new eight-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission. It uses an ultra-thin torque converter and a multi-plate lock up clutch to more efficiently transfer power to the front wheels, and has been tuned to deliver crisp, precisely timed shifts with quick responses. https://i64.tinypic.com/2uizry8.jpg Technology In terms of tech, there are now multiple ways to engage with technology in a safe and convenient manner. For example, the seventh-generation ES is the first Lexus product to offer Apple CarPlay phone functionality, enabling drivers to control their iPhones through the dashboard display screen or with Siri Eyes Free voice control. The ES is also Amazon Alexa-enabled, so drivers can use natural language commands to control a variety of functions. That functionality includes car-to-home and home-to-car commands, so owners who have Alexa enabled devices in their home can interact with their ES before they ever get behind the wheel. https://i68.tinypic.com/9qwg79.jpg On board Wi-fi is also available on the ES as part of an optional navigation system that includes an easy-to-read 12.3-inch wide dashboard display. Along with its on-board data set, the navigation system is also capable of receiving over-the-air updates for improved routing and the latest Points of Interest (POIs). Models without navigation will use an 8-inch display and all interactions will be controlled through the Remote Touch Interface (RTI) trackpad. When it goes on sale in September 2018, the 2019 Lexus ES is expected to start at an estimated price of N32m which includes buying, shipping and clearing. https://i67.tinypic.com/291zzpx.png https://autojosh.com/2019-lexus-es/

Toyota Motor Corporation has announced that it has reached a major milestone in annual sales of electrified powertrains in 2017 with over 1.52 million sold worldwide. The figure was an increase of eight percent over the prior record set in 2016, marking back-to-back years of growth and accomplishing one of Toyota’s Environmental Challenge 2050 targets, selling more than 1.5 million electrified vehicles in a single year, three years in advance of the original target set for 2020. Additionally, cumulative sales of electrified vehicles now exceed 11.47 million, which represents a reduction of more than 90 million tons of CO2 compared to sales of equivalent conventional vehicles. “In just over 20 years, we have seen electrified new vehicle sales increase from under 500 sales to more than 1.5 million sales,” said Shigeki Terashi, executive vice president, Toyota Motor Corporation. “This is a testament from our customers to the quality, durability and reliability of our electrified powertrains, and, thanks to them, has led us to establish a solid and sustainable foundation for mass producing a more diverse portfolio of electrified vehicles across our range moving forward.” Since the introduction of its first commercially available electrified powertrain on the Prius in Japan in 1997, Toyota has worked at improving the technology as the basis for its electrification efforts, having launched first mass-produced Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle, the Mirai, in 2014, the fourth generation of the Prius in 2016, and the second-generation Prius Plug-In Electric Vehicle in 2017. The company will continue the development and diversification of electrified vehicles as it now turns its sights to include the mass production of battery electric vehicles from 2020, starting in China and India, followed by Japan, the United States and Europe. Toyota also aims to further expand sales of hybrid electric vehicles in emerging markets to further contribute to lowering CO2 from new vehicles sales worldwide. The efforts to improve and increase the diversity of electrified power train options is tied directly to Toyota’s ‘Environmental Challenge 2050’, wherein the company aims to achieve annual electrified vehicle sales of 5.5 million units by 2030, as announced in December 2017. To achieve its goal, Toyota unveiled plans to have 10 BEV models available worldwide by the early 2020s, and from around 2025, the company aims to have an electrified version available for all vehicle models across its global lineup. https://autojosh.com/toyota-sells-1-52-million-electrified-vehicles-in-2017-three-years-ahead-of-2020-target/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

There are two major Marshals in the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). There is the Regular Marshals and the Special Marshals. The Regular marshals are uniformed officers whereas special marshals are non-uniformed officers. Also, the Special marshals have special propriety kits that distinguish them from other state and federal traffic officers. Also, while Regular marshals are employees of the commission and receive salaries, Special marshals do not receive salaries. Special Marshals are private individuals who join Marshals solely for the selfless interest of helping in road traffic management. It is a voluntary service. To become a Special Marshal, here are the requirements QUALIFICATION FOR A SPECIAL MARSHAL Have a personal serviceable vehicle Must be a licensed driver Must not have any record of criminality Must have a visible means of livelihood With these qualifications intact, visit the nearest FRSC Command and ask for the Special Marshal Unit. Ford has just filed an interesting patent with the U.S. Patent And Trademark Office. This patent seems more like something Nigerians will fall in love with ab initio especially those who love to party. It's a seating pattern inside cars that will allow the passengers seat round a circular dinner-like table facing each other. The patent also revealed another photo that shows the interesting seating arrangement being covered by a canopy. Sadly, there is no plate of jollof rice or cup of cocktail on the table to complement the concept. If you are wondering where the driver will seat, this is a futuristic seat that will feature in autonomous cars where there will be no front and back seat and people don't need to struggle for the front seat anymore. Let's get ready to start having our owambe parties on the move. You like or not? The Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak pickup truck concept made its world debut recently at the New York International Auto Show. Named after a species of tree that is native to the Pacific Coast in the U.S, the Atlas Tanoak is the first pickup based on Volkswagen’s MQB or modular transverse matrix architecture. Powered by a 276-horsepower V6 FSI gasoline engine, the Atlas Tanoak uses an efficient eight-speed automatic transmission and the 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. Volkswagen is keen to gauge the reactions of buyers and media, To confirm if the Atlas Tanoak should make it to production. The Atlas Tanoak uses Volkswagen’s 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The engine provides power to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission and the 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system with Active Control. This lets the driver select from various on- and off-road modes within seconds for optimal grip on dry, wet, slick or unpaved surfaces. The vehicle will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 8.5 seconds. The Atlas Tanoak is designed as a very spacious five-seater. Sporty, contoured seats are used in front, which offer very good lateral support during tough off-road duty. The same applies to the rear seating, with the passengers in the second row sitting on individual seats that match the ergonomic and design quality of the front row. The instruments, center console, and multifunction steering wheel are heavily redesigned from the Atlas SUV. The majority of functions, including the air conditioning, are operated digitally in the Tanoak. The touchscreen infotainment system is positioned high up for easy operation, almost alongside the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit. Both these screens and the controls for the air conditioning merge to form a digitalized cockpit environment. Ambient lighting integrated into the instrument panel and the roofline console immerse the interior in yellow or blue light at night, depending on whether the vehicle is in Off-road or City mode. Arranged on the center console between the driver and front passenger are the newly designed shifter grip for the eight-speed automatic transmission and the redesigned 4MOTION with Active Control, with mode selection via a metallic slider. It was intentionally designed to be very sturdy, so that it can be operated everyday by people who are used to driving a pickup, even while wearing work gloves. Can this take the place of a 2015 Toyota Prado in your garage? Tell us what you think in the comment section. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday said that the State Government would immediately take over the ABAT Truck Terminal Orile-Iganmu and commence immediate repairs on the terminal as part of efforts to permanently address the perennial traffic in Apapa axis majorly caused by breakdown of operations at the ports. Governor Ambode, who disclosed this at the 2nd Quarter 2018 Town Hall Meeting, the 11th in the Series, held at the Apapa Amusement Park, said he was seriously concerned about the hardship residents in the axis were being subjected to as a result of the activities of containerized trucks and tankers moving in and out of the ports and tank farms, hence the decision to hold the meeting in the area to find lasting solutions. “I cannot end this address without acknowledging that in Apapa, we have a major challenge; the menace of trucks on our roads and bridges causing endless traffic and loss of business time by Lagosians. This is why we have come here today. To see for ourselves and find a solution. “Effective today, our government will take over the ABAT Truck Terminal Orile-Iganmu and commence immediate repairs to make the park ready for effective use. In the meantime, we will appeal to the Tanker Drivers Association to conduct themselves in an orderly manner and cooperate with our Task Force to ensure smooth flow of traffic and better access to the Ports. “We thank the people of Apapa for enduring such harsh conditions but I assure you that this situation will be a thing of the past by the end of this year,” he said. Governor Ambode said the ABAT Truck Terminal has a capacity to accommodate at least 3000 trucks, adding that the government was already working with security agencies to see how some of the trucks parked on the Western Avenue Bridge would be moved into the park. “Already, we have cleared the shanties and the way we are trying to run it is such that we will be able to accommodate at least 3,000 trucks in the park. In addition to that, we will work with security agencies and see how we can move the trucks into the park because right now the park can accommodate about 300 trucks but the people are not using it. “So, if I tell you that one of the areas that I always feel very bad about is this Apapa gridlock and that is the truth and that is why I have decided that lets bring all our resources together; let’s discuss with people; let’s also talk to the experts and see what is happening there,” he said. https://autojosh.com/lagos-to-provide-3000-capacity-truck-terminal-in-orile-iganmu/

No matter how much the new Volkswagen Bug tried, it was never able to attain the glory of the original tortoise. Now, Volkswagen has confirmed that they are ending the Beetle product line. Interestingly, core fans of the Beetle are finding it hard to say goodbye. Therefore, some of them commenced Beetle rebuilding projects. One of the restoration projects is this one rebuilt by Memminger. This Memminger Roadster 2.7 has a four-cylinder 2.7 liter boxer engine delivering 201 hp and 182 lb ft of torque. It has a rear engine which is more like a mid-engine as it is closer to the seats. It uses a five-speed manual gear and the car shares some parts with the Porsche 911. Despite it’s relatively modern looks, the car has no digital finesse. Almost everything is analogue. The company expects to build 20 units of this car if interests are expressed. The price has not been revealed but the car is expected to cost nothing less than N44 million (100,000 euros) going by the builder’s history. So the company knows what’s wrong with your car even before you have a clue. “Bugatti’s telemetry system is our version of the connected car – exclusive and individual for our customers and saving time and money for our developers,” said electrical engineer Nortbert Uffmann, who’s responsible for the system. “This is ‘Connected Car‘ à la Bugatti, and it has already been available for more than a decade.” Back at the factory, Bugatti has some mechanics called “flying doctors” who take the next airplane off to the cars location to attend to any issue it may have. While in transit, these flying doctors can continue diagnostics on the car in a bid to provide world class service to their clients. The telemetry system is a small device installed on each Chiron transmitting as much information as possible about the car through cellular connectivity. It also tells if something suspicious is happening to the car like it’s being stolen or taken to a place it shouldn’t be. Bugatti has 3 flying doctors responsible for 3 different regions and each of them receives real time information from the Chirons under their care. One doctor is responsible for America, another for Europe/Russia and the third for Middle East/Asia. Oops! None for Africa. Can this special service compel you to want to own a Bugatti Chiron? Anytime I'm snooping around on cars on the road, I see several drivers with wrong sitting postures. It's either you see a young guy sitting in a fancy way with his hand stretched like he is sleeping on a camp bed or you see some other drivers hugging the steering so tight like they are so scared flying in a rocket to space. These awkward driving positions wouldn't have been a problem if there are no safety risks attached to them. But the sad news is sitting that way can easily kill or injure a driver especially if an accident occurs. Such drivers can have a neck, spine, head or chest injury and AutoJosh does not want that. That is why I am bringing you this post on how to attain an appropriate driving posture anytime you step into your car. First things first, make all sitting adjustments when the car is not in motion. It must also be in park position to avoid unexpected movements. 1. Don't seat too far from or too close to the steering wheel: Make sure you do not sit too far or too close to the steering wheel. This means, your hand should not be too stretched or too bent when holding the steering. So, stretch out your hands and make sure the steering is at your wrist level while your back is well rested on the back rest. This will enable you have a good grip as well as turn the steering swiftly and effectively. Sitting too close to the steering wheel can even make the airbag injure you if it deploys. https://i64.tinypic.com/2it0y6q.jpg 2. Your leg should not be stretched straight: We see fashionista drivers who push their car seat all the way back and end up stretching their legs out to press the throttle with only their toes. This type of fashion can put you in trouble if an accident occurs because shock waves can be sent directly to your pelvic area and spine when the your leg is straight. Alternatively, it is better for your leg to bend at the knee as seen in the picture above to prevent spinal cord injury. 3. The backrest should be upright and not be in a sleeping position: You have to be prepared at all times. So, don't drive your car around town same way you seat in your living room when watching Telemundo. The backrest of your car seat should be in an upright position and not in a slouching mode. This sitting position can reduce backache whilst protecting you in the event of a crash. We are not saying you should sit at angle 90 degrees like they do in Danfo buses. About 100 - 115 degrees is fine but some funky drivers go on a 145 degrees recline which is risky. Also make sure your headrest does not tilt backwards especially those fake aftermarket DVD headrests. https://i66.tinypic.com/ofr8g2.jpg 4. The center of the steering wheel should be tilted from your face: As much as possible, ensure that the center of the steering is not pointing directly to your face. It should be titled down towards your chest or trunk instead as you don't want the airbag exploding directly on your face. The center of the steering is usually where you have the car logo. 5. Don't sit too low or too high: Don't forget to adjust the height of your seat to a level that gives you a good view of the road ahead. However, it shouldn't be too high because that also comes with it's disadvantages. Sitting too high can make your legs interfere with the steering and your head can bump the roof of the car if there is a rollover. Sitting too high can also reduce blood flow to your lower legs due to excessive pressure on your thighs. 6. Don't wrap your thumb around the steering wheel: Your thumb is not meant to be wrapped around the steering of your car as it may get tangled while making sudden turns. Your thumb can even be dislocated and this is the major reason the steering of some cars comes with a "steering thumb rest". However, many drivers don't know the essence of this feature that help you rest your thumb and not wrap it around the steering wheel. https://i66.tinypic.com/fx5roz.jpg 7. Don't forget to remove your wallet if it gets in your way: The pressure from your wallet in your back pocket can hinder blood flow whilst causing butt pain. Guys with bulky wallets can relate with this. Finally, don't be a selfish driver, make sure your passengers sit safely and the rear seat passengers also use their seat belts. Kindly add some more tips for an appropriate sitting and driving position in the comment section. Range Rover has always being there since like forever. Well, not really forever. In 1969, the first Range Rover prototype – Velar – was built. The first-generation Range Rover was produced between 1970 and 1996. It was available only in a 2-door body until 1981, though prior to this 4-door models were produced by specialist firms. Over the years, the world has come to be endeared to this sexy machine. Of course, the shape and form of the Range Rover didn’t remain static. The Range Rover has evolved over the years. Each model reflects the exotic taste of the generation that it was manufactured in. From the Velar (1969) to the SVAutobiography Dynamic (2016) the Range Rover is always a delight to look at, and even better, to own. Autojosh presents the evolution of the Range Rover. https://i68.tinypic.com/2rdffie.jpg Range Rover Velar (1969) https://i64.tinypic.com/5buqfa.jpg First Generation Range Rover Commercial (1970) https://i68.tinypic.com/2epls9f.jpg Range Rover “Classic” (1973) https://i65.tinypic.com/15p4uhg.jpg Range Rover “Classic” Four-Door (1981) https://i66.tinypic.com/350pgrm.jpg Range Rover “Second Generation” (1994) https://i67.tinypic.com/syxssm.jpg Range Rover “Third-Generation” (2001) https://i66.tinypic.com/far3mq.jpg Range Rover (2002) https://i64.tinypic.com/2j0hyes.jpg Range Rover (2009) https://i67.tinypic.com/4qk1ua.jpg Range Rover (2012) “Fourth Edition” https://i63.tinypic.com/2dvpk4o.jpg Range Rover Envoque (2013) https://i67.tinypic.com/292w7tl.jpg Range Rover Autobiography Black LWB (2014) https://i68.tinypic.com/2dqv7v9.jpg Range Rover SVAutobiography (2015) https://i63.tinypic.com/qpl9vc.jpg Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic (2016) https://autojosh.com/see-how-the-range-rover-has-evolved-over-the-years/ |
