eddy2farm: ok My fan blow well When I put on my ac the pipe at the engine bay usually get good but now it get hot. The AC work for like 4 minutes yesterday and went off . Does the AC have a separate thermostat ? That eliminate any issue with blower fan or resistor .The design of your compressor is such that it is directly computer controlled by triggering solenoid on the compressor. So the fault might lies on part listed : the ac computer modules ,open circuit along the wires or the triggering solenoid on the compressor. Picture of the solenoid is shown below . Find a good technician to help u with the troubleshooting

eddy2farm: how do I check for the resistance The issue you are experiencing doesn't have anything to do with fan resistor if you confirm the fan blow hot air wen compressor stop working which means the fan is ok . One of the symptoms that show u have a fan blower resistor issue is evidence of icing forming on the hoses and evaporator |

Then why do u assume that there is ac relay somewhere cos if it automotic (VDC ) compressor by design there is no ac relay anywhere .Best bet is for u to take the ac to a technician that can help to troubleshoot the issue with ac manifold Guage . |

Thank you I am a strong believer in using data for accurate decision making .However this is beyond DIY stuff, find a techie that can do data analysis of scan data of air fuel ratio(this advance diagnosis ) ,probably the anomalies can be spotted |

2009 corolla ac should be the VDC compressor type which means is being duty -cirlce driven by a dedicated module and no relay inbuilt unless it has been converted to a manual compressor. You need to confirm what kind of compressor u have there first . |

Yes it is normal .this is Toyota spec for nigeria market. This is just to show that it the emission regulation of each country that will dictate the addition of certain component. it is a pity that our country emission is so lax that it doesn't really demand for oxygen and catalyst as compared to some other advance countries which is why some vehicle are like that .This is story for another day sha. |

Symptom depend on the particular position timing issue occurs eg ; intake and exhaust timing advance and re tard issue differs in exhibition of symptoms ,same applies also aplies to the no of teeth jumped by the chain. In short wen dealing with timing issue there is no definite symptoms that u can nail for 100% confirmation , best bet do the standard test that confirm timing 100% .like this

Tomygins: Where can one find a standard mechanic that specialises on lexus brands. Why because I want to diagnose why my lexus car drinks a lot of fuel. Just today it stalled half way,I felt embarrassed. I buy between 10 to 11k weekly. And i can't cope again. I need help, when I turn on the car,the engines pick directly. That was how I got it from a dealer,I don't know,if the car has catalyst or not. I have taken it to about 3 diff mechanic, 2 did guess work. One placed the oil dipstick into the pipe and felt something and said there is catalyst, another told me the second catalyst is not there, that it is only the one where the 02 sensor us plugged that there is catalyst I started the car and he went underneath, then came to the second catalyst with 02 sensor. I got a code saying something like air mass sensor circuit. The only problem I I having is,I don't know if engine has thermostat of 2k or not,why the fans connect directly when engine is on,and fuel guzzler. Sometimes if I buy fuel,my pin stays there. I experienced this before in my former car . So I need a mechanic that has sense, knows his onions, has a big shop, not under tree mechanic. If it's too service the nozzles,or change plugs,or it's a faulty 02 sensor,or if truly there is catalyst or my catalyst is clogged. Let chat @ 08061166316 |

I don't know what to do again It just unfortunate our technican don't invest in training and tools but prefer to indulge In trial and error parts throwing which can be frustrating for their customer . Every issue come with its own special test and troubleshooting process and there already specialized tools for this and what is needed is to take your car to a technician that can conduct this test. this is how is being done : see the tool in action for troubleshooting of overheating of a mini cooper and the culprit detected within 5 minutes .

Even there are lot of misfire diagnosis that your professional scanner will so useless that it won't be able to pick anything and that is where other diagnotics techniques comes in to complement the limitations of your testing tools. |

Jollos: Thanks for your response sir.
I scanned today, the guy said the 3 sensor connecting to the engine are bad. He said that was the only thing that came up from the scanner. I asked him if the scanner brought up anything about catalyst and he said no. Maybe I should take it from there I don't think you are right hand cos this is not different from trial and error style of diagnosis .Anybody that is troubleshooting for you should not based his diagnosis on scan dtc alone and should do further electrical test to confirm the issue to 100% accuracy. State your location so that we can recommend good tech around you. |

Jollos: Good afternoon all ogas,
I travel to and fro Ife from Lagos with my newly acquired pathfinder, it was a smooth journey but I used 15k fuel to and fro. Although I was informed before buying the car there were no catalyst In the exhaust.
One thing I noticed about the car was it won't accelerate more than 120km/h once it is approaching 130 it will slow down by itself. Could this be a serious problem?
I priced catalyst and is above 100k which I can't afford now.
Do I have a remedy to catalyst that will save cost, and will it reduce fuel consumption? Pathfinder 2004 model
Thanks in anticipation. Forget about catalyst for now cos it's absence won't cause issue listed above.Just take your car to a good technician for proper diagnosis and troubleshooting. |
