Good morning sirs, pls my 09 corolla break light is ON on dashboard but my break and everything is working perfectly. Pls what cn I do for the break light to go off?
If your abs light is equally on ,resolve the abs issue and the brake light will vanish ,otherwise check your brake switch and oil level switch.

Good morning Gurus..

Came back from a trip on a treacherous Road.
Had lights on my dashboard. ABS, brake light, Traction control light..

Scanned the car, a 2010 Venza, and I got the codes below.

Technician says must be ABS sensors on the tyres. That we should remove all Tires and test their sensors using a meter.

What do you think?
Scanner above can't do any abs stuff. Get a scanner that possess capability to scan abs system and use it to run live data on the abs system, by that u can narrow down on the culprit .

Please help a distress soul. Let me start from the beginning. I changed my car engine like 3 months ago in the cause of connecting the ac compressor, the rewire burned my brain box. I changed the brain box which was reprogrammed. After that the gear box keeping disengaging in motion. I was advice advice to change the gear box which I did 3 days ago but the new gear box is still disengaging in motion like the formal one. The mechanic is now suggesting that maybe the person that did the brain box programming didn't do it well. Please my people come to my aid. Please what should I do? Do u think the mechanic is right?
Compared the ecu part number against the factory ecu probably u have a wrong ecu installed.

@autologic. I'm having issues with my ac system. My evaporator had a leak on it before but has been replaced with a new hbs evaporator, a new expansion valve and some desiccant and compressor oii and a new cabin filter.

After everything was fixed the technician put in that cheb gas that has JJ okocha face on it. After all this i realized that my ac only cools when the weather is cold in the morning and in the cool evening but does not cool when the weather is hot in the afternoon. I thought it was because the cheb okocha gas is low quality. I then removed all the gas and put new harp gas because I was told harp is of better quality. But the problem of not cooling during hot weather still persists. Please what could be the cause of this?
I am strong believer of making use of technical data to support my analysis ,I don't do guess talk cos there a lot of variables to consider ranging from low refrigerant, clogged systems, mismatched expansion valve, over filling, worn compressor ,might even be airflow issue etc
Look for ac technican with ac diagnostics toolz
i.e the ac manifold guage ,and take pressure reading of suction and liquid side at both different condition of compressor off and compressor runing as depicted below and post it here for analysis.

This is the problem I have with my C200 MB car.the ac is giving me problem.i have repair it two times now still this problem.i am in Enugu state
Just very unfortunate that very few ac technician that really understand and can really analyze the ac system, the the rest are just installers ,fitters and part changers whose hands are always faster that their brains.
If you keep repairing and still no headway then it means root of the issues is yet to be identified with is the most important job of all .Don't buy or change anything yet if the root cause has not been duly identified 100% so that it doesn't end up in premium tears.
Let me start by asking u to list the problem u are currently facing with your ac and base on that i can advise u the next route to take.

Thanks but that was done before buying a new compressor. The condenser was also removed and flushed. The problem is that it's not cooler than its supposed to be
The bolded above is where we always miss it .A condenser cannot be flushed do outright replacement for a condenser .

I bought a new compressor, refilled gas ,also bought a new cooler for my car. New thermostat was also bought and set but acc is not chilling . It's not cold as its should be in the car. What could be the problem ?
What killed the old compressor? And why changing only the compressor?cos if the compressor has developed wear and tear internally ,debris from the it will get stucked inside other ac components and if those components are not changed and the systems as a whole not properly flushed , debris inside those components will be murdering any new compressor u keep adding to the system .
Way forward : find a technican that can make use of ac manifold for diagnoses to confirm the issue with the compressor.

Okay, thanks you for your prompt response. The car drives well when the engine is cool like early mornings. The performance is okay for about 30-45 mins. But after the engine gets warmed up I find it very very difficult to move fast. Secondly the car also drinks a lot of fuel.
Data provided is limited to deduce something tangible unless u can provide some vital parameters like: fuel trim,.maf ,calculated load at different engine speeds and point of failure ( i prefer to see more detailed data to make a more quality contributions) which will help but this might be too technical savvy for what u can handle with ur kind of diy scan tool.
Alternatively, take your car to a recommended technician to troubleshoot the issue further physically instead of remote talk.

Bros all this long epistle for just 2 easy fix code? That response is from Toyota nations forum. He could as well clean the air filter and air flow meter as confirmed by the other guy. A code may be triggered by some few reasons though
Those kind of statements is from a typical foreign diyers trying to form their own opinion dealing with their own personal cars with their little experience and if must know Yankee too have their share of kazeem and ill trained mechanics just for u to know that it not everything u read on foreign forums that is accurate and true.
Then in my long epistle, seems it too long for u to follow, the approach to fixing that issue is just two word :Fuel trim
Car TalkRe: Help!!P0171 And P0174 Fix? by autologic:
Dozieson:
If the P0171 is combined with the P0174 code, it's very likely that the problem is caused by an intake leak. If there are no intake leaks, the next step is to replaced the air filter and clean the air flow meter. If the problem persist the front oxygen (O2) sensor may need to be replaced.
[
There is a factory service bulletin for the following Toyota models:
2005–2007 Toyota Avalon
2007–2008 Toyota Camry
Very wrong approach to address issue cos truthfully this bolded method above is not different from trial and error . Also in process of trying to touch "this and that " which u are not even 100% sure that is faulty, u can end up breaking stuff and creating more problems.
The aim of any troubleshooting is to guide against trial and error, minimize touching of parts ,and huge saving on time and resources.
There are lot of standard testing techniques and modern diagnoses approach for troubleshooting issues on modern vehicle, and the strategy is this : the result of each test will be the lead to the next step ,no unncessary messing around .this approach is similar to programming algorithm "if then statements"(for people familiar with computer stuff )
Eg with issues similar to above ,the technique of approach can start with checking of total fuel trim ,let assume the fuel trim is highly positive on high rpm then u are looking at fuel issue also for postive fuel trim on low rev is leaning towards intake leak .Let take this further by assuming the fuel trim is negative then the direction will surely change ( enough don't let me bore u with too much technical stuff)Etc etc etc .
With this kind of approach u will a definite direction with detail and no unncessary calling for wrong parts with huge saving on scarce resources .
Lastly I will say we should be emphasizing more on testing to identify faults rather then calling for outright change of parts based on mere codes cos it u can leave u worse more than before.,Just like what my other brother says ,there so many variable involved.
Car TalkRe: Can Car AC Compressor Be Fixed? by autologic:
If the compressor is already worn and losing compression there is no point in trying to repair it ,just get another compressor and fish out
the hidden fault that is yet to be identified that is killing the compressors so that the new compressor will not being murdered like the old ones .
And try to get another ac technican this time to help u do a standard job.
Car TalkRe: Help : My Acura MDX 2004 Won't Crank by autologic: 9:14pm On Aug 02, 2021
funlover1:
My Acura MDX 2004 experienced overheating and the mechanic decided we needed to change the radiator, we did that and everything was fine. But after then, I noticed the car won't start/crank easily. I initially thought it was battery but even after driving for several hours (after which the battery should have been charged enough) same thing was still happening.

I got a rewire who said it was the kick starter, we repaired the kick started but situation was the same. Then the mechanic recommended by the rewire discovered that oil was mixing with the oil, the oil was milky and the spark plug head was somehow wet.

This pointed to a bad gasket according to him.The mechanic changed the plug and after that the car cranked when we started it but that was the only time, the next morning it didn't crank ( just like it was doing before).

Now we have changed the gasket ,changed the oil but the car still won't crank.

The mechanic says we should change all the coil ( 6 of them) , he seems so confident that the car will work of we do that but I feel he is just doing trial and error.

Experts, kindly advise on what to do.

I am based in Lagos
Why shd it suddenly be about coil ?This is a simple logic, focus should be on the last job that was carried out on the vehicle before the issue went further south which was cylinder head job
Find a technican that can do cylinder analysis test on the engine to determine the extent of damage on the engine ,from there u will know the next line of action .

all I know is that it's far more safer and cheaper to remove the thermostat and drive on a slightly colder engine, than leave it and risk catastrophic overheat when it malfunctions, and remember most of these modern aluminum block engines overheat is mostly the cause of their death, any car that I use I remove the thermostat,it will only affect a micro amount of fuel consumption when still cold but after some minutes of driving the car will warmup,I have experienced overheat caused by a faulty thermostat that destroyed the top cylinder and valves,I am no longer interested in that factory spec
Some arguments are not worth going into cos this has trashed countless times on this forum. And what fail to realize is that removing that same thermostat can also cost you your engine not only about fuel alone
It your car ,you can thow anything at it na since you know more than the manufacturer ,at least mechanic and parts sellers must chop na cheesy

I drive a 2004 sienna. I got it as a tokunbo few months ago. It has low cool wen the car is on idle but the cooling is more wen in motion especially on a long trip. Although the cooling is still not as cold as how a friends car ac chills. Wot cud be the possible cause.
You might have a compressor that is losing compression due to the fact that it is going bad ,or the condenser ability too dissipate heat is impaired due to airflow issue , dirts or clogg on the condenser.
To fish out the real culprit, take the vehicle to a competent ac tech that can skillfully analysis with manifold Guage to troubleshoot for u .
Car TalkRe: Let discus overheating And general radiator cooling system ! by autologic:
Elsueno:
undecided

Unless u tempered with the wiring, When a car cooling system fails it automatically activates the highest speed of cooling fan when it reaches d danger zone!

When my Peugeot fan resistor failed, the engine temperature shot up..But a very noisy fan speed kicked in at high temperature & cool the engine to 95 degree. though I stopped immediately & car refused to start till temperature dropped to below 80
Assume your cooling system wiring has abused by rewire ,you won't have that protective feature automatically demostrated by your vehicle ,which is why it is good you leave system to run at default spec as designed by the manufacturer.

I once on my AC and I smelled wire burn and next thing was smoke from under my stirring. An electrician changed the wire and the next day same thing happened and I returned it to the same guy. This time he bought a stronger wire and rewired the burnt wire (a single wire that went to the compressor) since then it has not done that but I have also reduced hand in the way I on the AC out of fear.
My fear is that the guy never told me the cause of the wire burn and he just went ahead to change the wire.
I guess he too couldn't figure out the root cause which is reason for his silence and he can only fix it the way he understand .
The common reason a cable get burnt is due to overcurrent and root cause can be due to the cable getting shorted to ground or using smaller cable Guage or load problem .If your cable size is ok then find a good technican to check out for potential short to the cable and the ( load) compressor too.

I observed my ac was not cooling effectively. I took it for diagnosis and was told it had leakage, so he sealed the leakage and refilled the gas. After a day or two, it completely stopped cooling. What steps can I take to get my AC system back and running? Secondly, how do you determine that your compressor(automatic) is working? Thank u.
There still leakage yet to be fixed and it wen all leakage has been successfully fixed then you can have the system runing well.
Secondly, how do you determine that your compressor(automatic) is working?
Nice question cool
cos the vdc (automatic) compressor seems "engaged " at every point in time so it practically impossible to know wen compressor has been triggered on checking physically as opposed to the manual type .To determine this ,you will need to make use of ac diagnostics tool : Ac manifold Guage and you must be trained to be able to interpret the readout. (That will be a topic for another day or u can check online )

Hello Guys,
In relation to refilling catalyst as I previously pointed out that I know somewhere in Ladipo that you can have it done.
This is what I mean. See pics.
I have seen them do it before in my presence. People frequent there as the patronage level is high. If you don’t get there on time you might have to come the next day.
So what they do is They will remove the catalyst from the car and fill with the content from this container and then make good the the body and re-install back to it location. Please critic this method.
Is it a good practice for car knowing that follow come catalyst is EXPENSIVE.
If it not panadol ,it can never be like panadol. wink.
If u know what is good for vehicle, kindly flee .(Den say den day and copy copy no go kill us for this naija ), grin .It not a story again that naija peeps ignorantly pay kazeems to destroy their cars in name of "reduce cost " so this one is not an exception too . That people are rushing it ,does that make it right ?, I know we can be so gullible grin and when it get to vehicle parts there is nothing like one- part -fit- all unless it a toy car cheesy which is why there is concept of parts number: this is a guide of what parts matches which vehicle model eg which part number of cat will work with this vehicle model.Ladipo parts seller doesn't know this cos they want to take your money anyhow there own is "we go work am" grin. We that are more literate should know better this than to be taken for granted.
If you cannot afford the "follow - come" catalyst ,leave the space hollow, it is not compulsory you must use a cat. And if must get rid of the dreaded cat P0420 codes ,there way u can do without breaking the banks , check this forum , some year model support that effectively, even there option of cat- del using chip tuning ,Google is your friend. cool
