This is a warning to all drivers in Lagos that are always in a hurry to break the traffic rules, your days of reckoning are coming and it's coming very very fast.

A driver got a message from the Lagos VIS that he broke the traffic rules and as a first-time offender, he was billed for 30,000 naira. That sounds strange, many questions like how are they able to track him, how did they know he didn't wait for the traffic light, how come they were able to know and get his details, all these and more we shall dissect shortly.

This is the format of the SMS they sent across...

Your vehicle (plate number) committed a TRAFFIC OFFENCE with bill no xxxxxx. Visit VIS HQ Alausa within 7 days to avoid impoundment".

In 2017/2018, The Lagos State Government decided to go digital in the handling of its traffic management, they took a step by upgrading and their vehicle inspection facilities across the state, they went and understudy a system in the UK called the ANPR. The mechanism displayed is the Automatic Number Plate Recognition. An ANPR is a CCTV camera that can send a driver back to its village if such is not careful.

According to Wikipedia, an ANPR Machine can be used to store the images captured by the cameras as well as the text from the license plate, with some configurable to store a photograph of the driver.
The systems commonly use infrared lighting to allow the camera to take the picture at any time of day or night, with the ANPR technology taking into account plate numbering variations from place to place.

The machine put in place is called the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and it comes in the form of a CCTV. To the drivers, it's just an ordinary CCTV but to the government, it's a tracking device which helps to track and trail any defaulters.

Let's see how this ANPR works for public enlightenment. According to police.uk, An Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology is used to help detect, deter and disrupt criminality at a local, force, regional and national level, including tackling travelling criminals, Organised Crime Groups and terrorists. ANPR provides lines of enquiry and evidence in the investigation of crime and is used by law enforcement agencies. It may be safe to say that it works alone without supervision on a 24/7 working mode. That means that CCTV at Apapa, Ikoyi, VI, Ikeja may just be an ANPR just waiting for you to cross the line.

How It Works

Gone are those days when VIO officials will be running after your car, this time, you hand over your self to the government official.

As a vehicle passes an ANPR camera, its registration number is read and instantly checked against database records of vehicles of interest. Police officers can intercept and stop a vehicle, check it for evidence and, where necessary, make arrests. A record for all vehicles passing by a camera is stored, including those for vehicles that are not known to be of interest at the time of the read that may in appropriate circumstances be accessed for investigative purposes. The use of ANPR in this way has proved to be important in the detection of many offences, including locating stolen vehicles, tackling uninsured vehicle use and solving cases of terrorism, major and organized crime. It also allows officers’ attention to be drawn to offending vehicles whilst allowing law-abiding drivers to go about their business unhindered.

We noticed that some of these ANPR cameras are already installed across some strategic spots in Lagos but the VIS/LASG are not telling us where they are, all they do is stand at a data collection point and see things from afar. But we have it on a good note there is one in Ikeja precisely close to Alausa Sect/Shoprite Mall, there is one too at Ikoyi and VI respectively.

How offenders are caught

When a driver breaks any traffic rule and the ANPR automatically capture your license plate, it sends it to the database where your information is. For example, if a driver of LASG-02 breaks the traffic code, the camera scans and picks the details with pictorial evidence, sends to the admin, the admin do a search on this plate number base on the information you use when registering or renewing any of your particulars, most times they are verified which makes it easier for them to easily append you. If a driver refuses to comply within the speculated time, you are liable to go to jail or have your car impounded.

These are some of the images if the ANPR cameras we got for you when they are undergoing training in Lagos late last year.

When we thought we will be resting on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway story base on our earlier report on this road which we believe that both the state and the federal government must have taken note of, but it seems we have only succeded in scratching the surface of the damage associated to this road as the users of this road have more shocking pictures for us more than what we expect, one of the respondents said the pictures you posted yesterday were the "Behind" roads of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, you need to see the real damage when you get to Volks, Ojo, Alaba among others.

We got access to some exclusive pictures which was sent to us by one of our readers who ply this road on a daily basis, these pictures were taken from different angles, locations and different spots. Mere seeing these pictures alone, we agree that Lagos-Badagry needs urgent rehabilitation and immediate repairs. We were told on good authority that the CCECC firm is yet to commence work despite the Lagos State Government instruction to start work immediately.

It will be recalled that on July 2nd, the deputy governor, Dr. Hamzat flagged off the reconstruction of this road of which the Chinese construction giant, CCECC will take charge of.

These are some of the pictures taken from Mile 2 bridge, Iyana Iba, Volks among other roads.

Travel / Lagos Begins Night Road Construction Across The State, See Their Timetable by AutoReportNG: 9:16am On Jul 18, 2019
The Lagos State Government has embarked on massive road rehabilitation across the state. The unit charged with road maintenance and construction, the Lagos State Public Works Corporation has started work in full force but this time, with a twist. Having studied the ever-busy Lagos, they have decided to work at nights.

A list which was obtained by AutoReportNG shows that they have time-tables for every part of the state.

For Wednesday night, for example, they are working on Ikeja, Apapa, Apapa, Mushin, Eti-Osa etc roads. 14 roads for night rehabilitation work across 11 Local Government areas tonight 17th July 2019

These are some of the work they have done this week as obtained by AutoReportNG

Bro, you might be shocked that even Dino might not be aware that the RR is fake. These Funeral companies charge a fortune for their services. What stops them from importing even a salvaged RR to use for their business? I hope Dino doesn't pay them their complete balance.

Thats not true. If you live in Lagos and very close to Lagos Island, you can take a stroll to MIC, Ebony funeral offices, this is the exact hearse they do for their funeral services. This type of cars are not made in Nigeria, they are imported, I think they are modified in such a way that you can see through the vehicle and see the coffin right from outside. They come in different car model specs depending on how the maker or the spec of the vechicle is, its made in such a way that a moving house bus is made...

These are some of the pictures to help you on this...

So, in the USA or UK, if someone used a fake car to deceive the public, they won't talk about it? Always wanting to sound different but ending up looking foolish and stupid

Sir, this car does not belong to Dino, this car is what the coffin bearers use for their business, they have lists of cars they use for these types depending on how rich you are that you can afford, coffin bearers like MIC, Ebony and lots of them all have these type of cars they use for coffin business and this is not strange to those in Island, I was surprised this makes news.

I wish I can write a detailed reply on this.... Having stay close to where they sell caskets at Lagos Island, I think OP knows little on how this works... For the records, Dino is not the owner of this so called RR... The coffin bearer owns and manage the car... All Dino and his family need to know is select from their list of cars and they will pay for their services.

Maybe you need to come to CMS and see an array of these type of cars

Ever since the residents of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway have been crying out to both the Lagos State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria over the state of their roads, many do not understand the pains and agony they go through daily on this road.

The road which ought to have been completed and link to various parts of the state has been a death row, a journey that ought to last for minutes lasts for several hours all thanks to the abandoned roads and the number of cars plying this road daily. For the records, this road has a closed boundary and link to other West African countries like Benin, Togo and many more.

Early this month, The Lagos State Government flagged off the reconstruction of this road with the Chinese giant firm, CCECC, while we await the total re-construction and the palliative work to start, we felt we need to re-visit the pains and the agony of residents of this place. The Lagos-Badagry Expressway is a nightmare to all motorists, pain to road users and headache to business owners in this area.

The bad roads which start from Mile 2 all the way to Badagry leave motorists no option than to take the one-way which leaves the road blocked and most times at a standstill.

AutoReportNG got some daily pictures from the residents that give a daily update on this road, according to reports which used to cover areas like Ojo, Underbridge, Iyana-Iba, Okokomaiko, Iyana-Isashi among others.

According to the images we got, we can confirm that some work has already started in some parts of the road, this can be seen from places like Ojo, Iyana-Iba as been reported.

These are some of the images who got for you...

Politics / Sanwo-Olu Declares Another Free Passage At Lekki, Ikoyi Toll Plazas On Wednesday by AutoReportNG: 1:31pm On Jul 17, 2019
In furtherance of Lagos State Government’s real time traffic simulation survey being carried out with the aim of reducing traffic congestion around the Lekki-Epe and Ikoyi axes, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has again approved the opening of Lekki and Ikoyi toll gates during peak hours on Wednesday 17th July 2019.

A statement signed by the Governor’s Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile stated that a toll-free passage at the toll plaza on Lekki-Epe Expressway and the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge would run between 6:30am and 9:30am in the morning, and also at the peak period in the evening (4:30pm to 7.30pm).

The statement reads: “Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared toll free for all motorists going and coming out of Lekki axis during rush hours tomorrow, Wednesday 17th of July 2019 to allow the State’s consultants complete the traffic simulation survey that was started a couple of weeks ago.

The toll-free hours, Sanwo-Olu stated, is to allow traffic consultants to the government carry out a comprehensive study of traffic flow around Lekki-Ikoyi-Victoria Island axes, which is part of the initiatives the government is bringing to diffuse vehicular gridlock in major Business Districts in the State.

According to the Governor, the cost of the toll fees for the study period will be borne by the government.

Recall that Governor Sanwo-Olu said the State was undertaking a traffic study with a group of experts to know where the traffic would go when the tollgates are left open for steady movement.

“It is only when we do this activity at the peak hour that we will be able to understand how to deal with congestion in these places,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The Governor said the undertaking was necessary for the government to take actions that would lead to the reduction of traffic on the axes by 50 percent. The resultant effect, he said, would lead to a decrease in travel time and improved productivity.

“We are restating our commitment to bringing about a quick journey time through our traffic solution. The way we want to do it is to have an online real-time study of what the issues are. We are going to analyse the dimension of observed challenges and discuss the next steps of the solution we are bringing,” the Governor said.

Don't mistake what you are about to see as a beach neither as a vacation spot, this is far from what the good life has to offer.

The residents of Odogunyan a sub-urban area in Ikorodu, Lagos are crying for help and they need it urgently. According to reports, the residents of Tenigbegiloju and Ojuamure areas and all in Odogunyan, Ikorodu are appealing to the Lagos State Government to come for their rescue to curtail the menace of flooding before they all drown in these areas.

It was reported that the contractor handling the main road diverted the drainage to these areas. The normal practice is for construction companies to make an adquate channel for free flow for drainage but this seems to be wrong thereby affecting other areas such that whenever it rains, each of their streets is usually flooded.

These are some of the pictures we got to show you.

Crime / See What A Heart Heart Broken Lover Did To His Cheating Partner's Car by AutoReportNG: 9:20am On Jul 16, 2019
Nothing hurts more than when trust is broken when love turns sour and when a cheater is unremorseful despite all evidence. Things we do for love can never be quantified with mere words. A heartbroken man has taken to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to show what he did to the car he and her fiancee both bought for cheating. Going through his timeline, its obvious that the guy is depressed, heartbroken and seriously angry, according to some of his tweets, she wrote...

- My heart so heavy & hurt

- All I wanted was her & got hurt I’ll never love again

- How we buy a car & you got niggas driving it & f**king them?

- Deleting all our pictures returning these gifts, looking at these matching tattoos is the hardest ima have to do , but you did me wrong

- A year & 2 months down the drain I’ll literally never love again & No I’m not single I’m not nothing I wanna just be alone & Heal from all this man.

These are pictures of his girlfriend which he damaged.

Travel / Lagos-Ibadan Railway: Update From Various Sites As CCECC Begins Test Run by AutoReportNG: 4:10pm On Jul 15, 2019
As we begin the countdown to the final unveiling of the much-awaited Lagos-Ibadan Railway that is if we are to believe the ministry of transportation that it will be ready before September, we felt we need to visit the site where the CCECC is working to see things for ourselves.

AutoReportNG got some new and exclusive images from the official page of the CCECC crew which we are part of, and we felt the need to share these pictures with Nigerians to see how they fare from various locations.

There seems to be a massive construction at Ebute-Metta at the Railway Compound; also the CCECC crew are putting the finishing touches to the Ibadan axis while the Abeokuta, Agege, Papalanto are undergoing a test run according to our sources. As much as this sounds good, Nigerians are hoping that CCECC and the Federal Government will live to their words this time and complete this project once and for all. It will be recalled that the FG and CCECC have postponed the commissioning of this project 3 times in this year alone. At first, the former minister of transportation, Mr. Rotimi Ameachi promised that it will be completed by December 2018 and then April 2019 and now we have a new date.

These are some of the pictures from the site, all for your views alone...

Whats your take?
Car Talk / This Land Rover Backpacker Is A Perfect Vehicle For Travelers - Photos by AutoReportNG: 2:32pm On Jul 15, 2019
In a world where they are limitless room for innovation and creativity, auto designers and makers are doing all they could to outsmart each other and to win to the heart of their loyal customers.

Talk about how reductionism can lead to a better travelling experience, Land Rover BackPacker is a concept travelling vehicle that questions about space and complexity needed while exploring the world 4×4. This project actually adds appeal to the vehicle that could lead or encourage young adventurers to enjoy outdoors even more. Inspired by the idea of fighting climate change while offering light travelling, Land Rover BackPacker features an open design, it creates an interactive space with its surroundings. This vehicle offers a multifunctional approach to be more than just a car, but also a space to hang out, a place to sleep in the wild, a mobile tent you might say.

Designed by Edwin Senger, Land Rover Backpacker Traveling Vehicle was inspired by global adventures of the first Land Rover Series 01, which features modular and highly functional design.

“To reinterpret this spirit and to bring it into a future context was the main goal besides combining it with the approach and philosophy of modern minimalists and the efficiency of tiny house lifestyles.”

During the design process, there were a lot of challenges on how to create a compressed space that still provides comfort and freedom. This project also wants to know how this affects interaction with nature and what reduction might add to user experience while travelling. Therefore, it’s important to make sure there’s a balance between comfort and freedom to guarantee memorable moments of your adventures.

The Land Rover BackPacker concept is targeting the needs of more sustainable and more flexible experiences in the future. Instead of designing a car for an individual, this concept aims to be part of an on-demand car-sharing service, which is globally set up to reach people from different regions, different cultures and different backgrounds.

BackPacker travelling vehicle offers a multifunctional space enough for two people and the freedom of a capable off-roader. To make travelling easier, the vehicle service comes with modular equipment kits that provide things you need in nature such as cooking equipment, water tank, solar sun tail, or weather protection, just plan your next adventure for a great experience.

I noticed u don't write any good news about Yoruba land other than Lagos
I noticed how u always bring news from ss north and se Nigeria
I'm just talking about what I noticed
Even d one u did on ogun border town was to rubbish Ogun state
Well, this is just what I want to say

I don't think that is true irrespective of the tribes, states or where you come from, its our duty to report the news as it were, we can't be everywhere and we can't be omnipresent in all states monitoring all developments, if you felt there are some good works across your locality that are not reported, please send us the pictures and a little write up to it and see if we won't publish it.

As much as we are for the truth and facts, we can't say because we want people to love us and report falsehood, we can only do the needful by being truthful and being factual.

Good afternoon

A beg leave that matter for Mathias. All herdsmen are the same. Bottom line is the cow has more value than anything on their path. You don't have to agree just pray not to encounter them.

AutoReportNG, pls how much did the new passport cost?

The new passport, which contains 64 pages, costs N70,000 and valid for 10yrs

AutoReportNG, I regard you highly because of your informative posts and won't hesitate to recommend you before any international organization.

This is the first report you failed and failed woefully but I understand because you are bound to make mistakes.

We have 6 political zones, I want you to place each ethnic group you see on that passport according to their political zone

SW
SE
SS

NW
NC
NE

Now place them in this orderly manner

Ok Sir, Pls do that for us if we did some mistakes, remember we have lots on our hands, we only reply cos we saw your mentions. We can't have all the details and we can't answer for the FG/NI... The information you asking us is not in our capacity to answer Sir but those in charge.

We hope you forgive our errors...

Have a lovely weekend and please, let's work in making Nigeria great irrespective of any zones we come from...

Regards

Nigeria has 6 geopolitical zones.

Can you list out the tribes representing each political zone on that passport.

List the 6 political zones and the tribes that represented them on that passport.

AutoReportNG

The essence of this research is not be a mouth for the FG or for Nigerian Immigration or any party but let us set the record right for facts and for posterity... Base on we have seen so far, it seems all the geo zones are captured, I may be wrong and if I am, please correct me, I will look into that...

For S/West... There is the Eyo Masquerade, Yoruba cultural dance
For Igbos... Their cultural dance
For Benin (South) ... Benin Arts
Hausas... The Herdsmen etc
The National Assembly (A unifying factor)
For the South South, I can't recall on this, once I see their representative, I will revert

That's all I can recall for now... But I think all the 6 zones are captured, sentiments apart
