NwaChibuzor:Awon soothsayer....dey don come ooooooo. it is soooo redundant for ppl to think of only money when measuring success. i do not disagree dat money is vital, infact money is 90%. d most important thing for now is dat she is a lawyer.. one of her dreams come true. also y do u think she wont b more successful financially on d long run dan d wizkids and ihenacho? (especially considering d fact dat dis is 9ja where she can loot billions 2moro n nothing will happen) or y do u think dat d wizkids and co will not go broke on the run?( not hating ooo) y do u thinks she wont bcom d best lawyer nigeria will ever see thereby making her one of the richest? hw many money wole soyinka n achebe get? People shud pls get dis straight...not everybody will b neymer or ronaldo or messi....infact not everybody dat plays football will b successful financially like neymer or ronaldo or messi. let ppl jst stop comparing things da ar not. messi and ronaldo will not receive the thousands of pounds per week forever at barca n madrid forever. there are lot of sportsmen especially baskekballers and formula 1 stars who ar financially buoyant dan ur messi n neymer. the thing is jst make sure u ar d best in wat u do and continue to work hard. like my best film- three idiots- Chase success and money will follow u. |

Lucky00:guy frm wetin i dey hear, ppl respect nigerians who are involved in legitimate businesses. they only disrespect u when u ar involved in one form of criminal activity or illegitimate means of survival. Also, Nigerians are now associated with fraud. sometimes it might b difficult for some ppl to deal with u coz of trust. if u package urself very well and build trust and integrity with ur custome, ur business is a go. |

I am a strong believer that i can be whatever i want to in Nigeria, but recent events are starting to sway that ideology. I have a big brother, though not related by any family chain but out of mutual respect for each other. He is a guy who valued travelling out of the country than any other thing in his life. He was an employee of Eco bank here in Nigeria and was living a decent life. He was channelling all his energy and finances towards travelling out of the country. He tried the US, Finland and the UK, all to no avail. But he was successful with canada. He told me about the news, sold some of his properties, and told his immediate brother to move into his apartment- he built the house. Now, he has gone for almost three years. With the few chats and calls we've had since, i can say he is living the good life he always wanted. When he was here in Nigeria, he once told me that he has evaluated the possible future of Nigeria and that out of all his deductions, he can categorically say that nothing good can come out of this country. He use to say that without jesus performing miracles, jesus cannot change the obnoxious status quo of the nigeria situation if elected president. That the system is designed to favour the rich, families of the rich, and repress the youth. He made an analogy one time, let us assume a worker here in nigeria earns #150k per month- that is a good salary to most nigerians. That means #1.8M in a year and #63M for 35 years of hard work. From #63M for 35yrs, u ar expected to buy cars, build house, send your children to school, pay your bills, feed yourself and your extended family. But the truth is how many workers are on #150k per month? Europe or America might not be heaven as people say, but its the sure thing next to heaven.....bro TY The problem is, i am starting to see things from his perspective. Although just two months into Labour market, it seem as if all the hearsays are true. I am starting to think that moving out of d country might be the only meaninful solution to combat the pathetic lifestyle most nigerians live. |
hw person tey get pregnant for prison. na warden nak am? or na prison controller enter there. am not understanding oooo |
ladiguy:guy, do a little reading. iim no dey kill |
PrinceOgun:go and read ur history again. the oyo empire was the most organized, successful and the largest empire in the black race. they spawn through d present SW of nigeria to togo and benin republic. controlled by the feared alaafin |
from history, the awori's are the original settlers in lagos. and the awori's are yorubas. at the height of their power, the benins ravaged through yoruba kingdom conquering the oyo empire and the aworis, making lagos a slave camp. the British came in, submerged the benin kingdom. this weakens the kingdom and her influence dwindled. to say the benins owned lagos is obnoxious. even looking at it geographically, lagos couldn't belong to them coz they need to pass tru the oyo empire then and the benins are nt known for their prowess of the sea-coz dat is d only logical way to settle in lag without passing tru d oyo empire. |
jst tired of dis "who own lagos" topic. if d benin or d ijaws or d igbos own lagos, to whose benefit? let d binins fly frm benin without passing tru d yoruba territory to stamp their authority on lagos. if 9ja split today, who do u think will have Lag? or will dey split lagos along with SS or SE? |
cummando:diagnosis: suffering from sophisticated ignorance |
Kyase:nobody will beat u if u call urself dat nw |
are u trying to say mr president don embezzle 9ja money to fund is latest and more fashionable farm canvas? but 9ja ppl oooo, i don travel frm uyo to calaba, ph to onitsha. i don travel tru abia, imo, anambra, delta, edo, ondo, ekiti, osun, oyo..... i'm yet to see any federa project gulping the over #6 trillion naira budget ooo. na only north d budget dey fund? |
Opp u ar nt only fantastic. .....u ar coksitic. nice work boss |
GraGra247:na u get time to answer him. tell him to visit d "Asian slavery camps" called companies in lagos and IB to know dat most nigerians ar slaves. the funniest thing is dat most police officers, politicians and traditional rules ar in it with dis ppl |
i think in terms of infrastructures, d SS leads. but in terms of human development, SW n SE leads. while in terms of Social and business development SW is d Boss |
addikt:boss fear God nw.....OAU surpasses ilorin in terms of beauty n building infrastructure nw......d only rival to OAU in beauty n building infrastructure is ABU**among federal unis though** |
fellow nairalanders, is FUTA post graduate form still on sale? pls anyone who resides on campus shud pls help me with dis info asap. |
Congratulations Mr Al-amin.wishing u more success in ur endeavors. with respect to NNPC GM, i beleive dis is part of the stunt nepotism most southerners are complaining about. year in and out, academic records ar broken and nw academic feats ar achieved by nigerian students in southern unis. i believe packages like dis shud b made available for all unis so as ti encourage 9ja students to strive to b d best for a great nigeria. |
total crap...... do u know d funniest thing about 9ja politics, d bad ones outlive d good ones....muritala was assassinated, yaradua died frm a horrible sickness. the obasanjos, buharis, atikus,Ibb, shagaris, tinubus, etc ar all still alive still steering d affairs of dis nation into oblivion. same logic apply to oda 9ja professions on dat list. for 9ja sane rules does nt apply. even the natural rules. dat is hw lawless our country is even nature recognizes dat. moreover there is one tin i want most ppl to understand. .....d believe dat good beget good and bad beget bad is a fallacy. ......this is a theory dat has been proven wrong over d years. take nigeria and oda african countritas a case study. |
i'm jst tired of listening to the senseless miscreants of IPOB supporters. they jst want to open their mouths and say something- usually unapologetic nonsense |
i believe i was expecting dis to happen. as a matter of fact apc can neva win in anambra. but was surprise dey ar up in nunbers agaist pdp. dis shows that with a little fight frm apc next general election, they might get a good number of votes frm south east which i am afraid of. with dis result, there might b no big challenge for apc in d next electn which means more suffering for nigerians. d zombies up north will vote d daura man in coz there will b an almost equal split of votes in d SW n SE. d SS will vote for PDP. to ppl shouting boycott, boycott. ....... apparently ppl came out to vote. will b suprise d numbers of voters will will nt exceed d numbers dat voted in d last election. |
do people jst buy new cars like dat? what will they use to buy them?..... most times i jst laugh at the versions of leaders we hav in africa especially nigeria. they are all version -1.0. instead of them to tackle fundamental problems which are infrastructure, education, health, and enabling environment for businesses to thrive so that her citizens and the country can b prosperous economically. hw will one buy a new car when its even difficult for such person to eat three times a day? not to talk of unemployment, underemployment and poor infrastructures especially power |
igbodefender:during my nysc, we constructed a billboard highlighting the effects of drugabuse in the society. the funny thing is dat one local government official demanded for #5k. b4 d billboard can b erected. we fought our way tru to the chairman who later revealed dat the official jst want to chop our money. dat such community development project do not require any form of payment. this tin is jst tooooo much is our society today |
corruption has been a major problem in Nigeria hindering the socio-economic development of the country. The effects of corruption in Nigeria is vividly written in all sectors of the country. It has marred all the necessary machineries deployed for the development of the nation. Although, many reasons has been viewed as the cause of the gross deterioration of standards in the Nigerian society which of course are all correct; but there is this discrete subset which I believe is fostering corruption in Nigeria today-and that is “gratification”. Gratification is a reward for a job well done which is given to an individual out of free will. But when one is compelled out of his or her own convenience or just to satisfy the “compulsory societal norm”, then there is a problem. The saddening results of gratification is expressed more in the public sector than the private sector. The government officials who are paid monthly to carry out their duties are always expecting one form of reward when carrying out their duties. This has even graduated to a compulsory levy (bribe) to the officials in order to do their jobs. Government parastatals such as police, pension, customs and immigration to mention a few are well involved in this. On the streets of Nigeria today, the products of this culture of gratification can be seen in the “omo onile’s”, “agbero’s” and street thugs who deem the giving of reward as their right. They even go to the extent of obstructing a law abiding individual in the pursuit of his day to day activities and hindering him of erecting his own building. They go about hailing well to do Nigerians and fraudsters hoping for a drop of reward. And if such person refuses, they begin to rain insults on the person and sometimes result to damaging the properties of such individual. Also in the education sector-especially secondary and tertiary institutions, gratification as become a menace that needs urgent attention. In our universities today, students contribute monies to service lecturers’ birthdays, thanksgiving, ceremonies etc. hoping for a reward in form of “grade leniency”. Lecturers also expects gratifications from the students at the end of each semester- for teaching? I don’t know. In the secondary schools, teachers also expects one form of reward from parents and guardians for taking good care of their wards. Finally, I am not against gratifications, neither am I encouraging it. One thing I observed in our society is if a reward is given to an employee by two or more persons, the employee tend to view such as a right which in turn do give the employee the temerity to ask for such reward from other customers or in the worst case make it compulsory before he/she performs his/her duty. I believe that gratification giving easily graduates to bribery thereby compounding the misery of corruption in our society. |
in reminise voice----where i come, this can neva happen------ in 9ja the number of armed policemen escorting her will be 10x the number of under-equipped policemen performing their duties |
According to wiki ---- A failed state is a political body that has disintegrated to a point where basic conditions and responsibilities of a sovereign government no longer function properly. Likewise, when a nation weakens and its standard of living declines, it introduces the possibility of total governmental collapse------- i believe that all the symptoms of this definition can be seen in our dear country Nigeria. The sovereignty of the government is in decline with respect to her citizens deference. The standard of living continue to fall down the cliff as the year counts down. unemployment, uproar frm secessionists, tribalism, nepotism, crime and other social vices has become the norm in Nigeria today. @Opp u pointed out china in ur assertion to debate the position of Nigeria in the court of failed states. i will like to affirm here dat one of the fundamental obligations of government is to make available basic amenities to her citizens. good roads, good healthcare services, good education- in form of schools and vocational institutions, good electricity supply, etc. all of these are made available in china for over a billion people. but same cannot be said here in Nigeria. in fact our limited amenities are in decline year in year out. just imagine what nigeria will become with jst 15hr of daily regular supply of power. Nigeria is a very strong example of a failed state or let me say a failing state |
