Health / Re: Coronavirus Spreads To Algeria, Brazil, France by aybabz101: 7:00am On Feb 27, 2020
-------Kakale said though the federal government had released
N386 million to deal with the situation, “the basic protective
equipment like face masks, thermal scanners and globes
are rapidly depleted and going out of stock in ministry of
health”. He said the inability of the Ministry of Health to
procure protective equipment, personnel gadgets and other
laboratory and logistical equipment services as well as
reagents and drugs was seriously hampering the
government’s efforts to fight and contain coronavirus and
Lassa fever epidemic.------------

What was the N386 million used for then? if u can't procure the basic protective equipments such as gloves and face masks, wetin una come buy? abi is it that d "massive corana disinfecting machine" has been bought? corona neva even enter self corruption couldn't buy an ordinary glove.

but 9ja government should have placed a traveling restriction on china by now; if not total ban. And I believe they cant control the situation if this thing eventually gains entrance into the country and Nigerians will be looking for another sacrificable hero like Dr. Adedevor

Politics / Re: We’re Suing FG Over Service Chiefs Tenure – Falana by aybabz101: 4:53pm On Feb 17, 2020
Well I don't know much about the law but I understand perfectly well that the appointment of service chiefs is purely the duty of the president and subject to confirmation by the senate. The president can appoint any Senior ranking officer of the military who he believes will be d best in delivering condor to the rule of law and safety of the lives and properties of the citizens and non citizens of the country.

But taking the government to court on this issue I believe is an inappropriate step for falana to take. It is evident that the security situation of the country is in a total dishabille state which is of a great concern to her people, but taking the government to the corrupt justice system will not solve the problem.

I think there should be other means that falana and well meaning Nigerians can employed to put pressure on this directionless government

We need the full story before any form of judgement coz its unreasonable to me he would just backtrack like that. There must be something going on between the embassy and the Norwegian immigration.

The first question why was she arraigned for deportation in the first place? coz something must have prompt that.

Anyways regardless of the situation, the embassy is there to protect Nigeria and Nigerians. so these embassies must sit up and start doing their jobs coz Nigerians are always complaining about them.

I don't know why Nigerians are like this. I am not in support of this Sowore guy cuz I think his actions are birth out of frustration from losing the presidential election.

This guy contested in the last presidential election and lost bitterly. Then he organized a campaign against the government by calling for 'revolutio'- even the US government won't take that as liberal as they are.

I am not in support of the Nigerian system coz I know all na fraud but u can't call for such a protest after losing an election. why didn't u arrange d protest b4 the election? why did he partake in d election in d first place if u want revolution or does it mean he lacks d the meaning of revolution?

If he had protested against election malpractices or bad governance or corruption; I will b 100% supporting him but protesting against a government u partook in its election by calling for revolution, I see it as an act of anarchy- calling for the citizens to topple the government which I see as a treasonous offense.

American football is a very lucrative sport. Far more lucrative than football. As at today, American Football is the highest grossing sport in the world. The Dallas Cowboys of the USA is the richest sport club in the world with net-worth value of $5billion. Only real Madrid came close with $4billion. I am certain Nigeria will definitely profit from this sport if we look into it.

This ur analysis get as im be oooo. Though football may not be as lucrative as d american football, but it is second or third to it. still, 9ja football na wack.........after investing a lot into it.

The thing is Nigeria should grow her economy.....she should pull out 80% of her population out of poverty then all other things will follow.....the sports will naturally grow, the education will naturally improve, the infrastructures will b world class etc.

Education / Did I Make The Right Call? by aybabz101: 1:20pm On Jan 06, 2020
I graduated in the year 2015 but was not mobilized for NYSC immediately. I stayed at home for about 11 months before I was mobilized late 2016- was engaged in graphic design specifically Corel draw. I served my country through 2017 and got a job in one of our Banks as a Loan Sales Agent.

On the Job- though a contract job- I had a feeling that this was not for me coz I wasn't really enjoying it. Apart from d fact that the pay was low, the pressure was just too much and there was no time for me to pursue other things like applying elsewhere coz I think almost every second about d job. so, I decided to further by applying for my masters in the same undergraduate field of Biochemistry. I did that, got d admission and I resigned from my job after a year and a half.

The problem now is after evaluating Nigeria as it is today and with financial troubles, I'm beginning to think that I made d wrong choice. my course of study is seriously streamlined when it comes to lucrativeness in the labour market and the future is really clouded with dark firmament right now. When I was working, I was initially saving up to travel out of the country; I changed my mind coz a friend of mine was duped when he applied for Canadian visa after being rejected severally by the US embassy. This really affected him and I don't want to go through such emotional and psychological breakdown. Did I really made d right call opting for my masters?
Politics / Re: Do Politicians Defect In The USA? by aybabz101: 6:28am On Dec 20, 2019
There might be a case or two but not as proliferated and immoral as portrayed by our politicians here.

In all sincerity, d way politics is practiced in Nigeria and by Nigerians is totally against d principles and foundation of democracy itself. Politics is about ideology, about d way one believes government should be ran for maximum productivity for the people and d pride of the country. But in 9ja, we all know way most ppl run for office in d first place- for money.

In civilized countries, political parties hold ideologies- the sacrosanct motor, guide and believes of the party. from inception, one joins d party that aligns with his believes; maybe the democrat party or the Republican party.

In d UK, if one believes his party is failing to keep her promises or will not be able to fulfill his goals and aspirations, one can dump d party and be independent. I.e., most don't go to other parties but run for office on an independent platform.

Education / Nigerian Students And The Illusion Of The Degree Doesn’t Matter by aybabz101: 11:13am On Nov 17, 2019
One of the fundamental reasons we attend academic
institutions is basically to acquire knowledge about a
particular profession or interest in life. This is defined in the
differences in our various career pursuits in the universities,
polytechnic, colleges of educations and technical schools.
Each of these institutions evaluates the knowledge acquired
by her students through examinations-either written, oral or
both. These examinations are graded base on the proximity
of individual performances to the maximum percentage. This process is successively repeated through a period of time- usually greater than three years depending on the institution and course of study- averaged and cumulated into a class of degree we are familiar with. Although I am a study believer that the current examination process- which involve mostly written examination- might not be the best method to test students’ knowledge, but so far, it’s the most accurate yard stick to test students’ knowledge all over the world. As a student, to underrate this important process, I believe is suicidal.

Truth be told, there is a factual bridge between knowledge
and education. But knowledge is never an alien to
education; the two walks hand in hand. I have met with
different class graduates, from first class degree holders to
second class and third class students. Unfortunately, I
haven’t met a pass degree holder. With my various
conversations with these students, I noticed that most of
the students with average degree tend to excuse themselves
with reasons like “baba the certificate no matter ooo na your
hustle sure pass”. Then they say “see, Bill gates, Steve jobs,
Mark Zuckerberg etc. drop out from school oooo; they are
one the most successful people on earth today”. What they
said is not totally wrong but a flamboyant excuse for their
underperformances in the university. I also believe these
obnoxious excuses are birth from their disappointments and
social frustrations associated with their class of degree
coupled with segregation of their class of degree by
employers of labour.

Let’s take a logical look into the life of the two most popular
college drop outs today-Bill gates and Mark Zuckerberg
cofounder of Microsoft and Facebook respectively. Bill was
a student of one of the best universities in the world,
Harvard University. He was a brilliant person right from
childhood. He was exposed to one of the rarest
opportunities of his time in the 60’s and 70’s-access to
computer from his high school at lakeside through to his
university. Bill was a very skillful programmer right from his
high school. As a teenager, bill has begun to write software
for big companies like ISI (Information Sciences Inc.) and
TRW. As an undergraduate at Harvard, Bill and Paul Allen
wrote the operating system code for one of the first portable
computers in the world, the Altair 8800. Both Bill and Paul
later signed a big money deal with IBM computers which
finally close the door to the completion of his Harvard
degree. As an undergraduate at Harvard bill dropped in on
courses that interest him the most and did very well in those
courses. From bills female colleague “Bill sleeps most of the
time in class and still have his B”. Bill gates was not in
anyways a below average student as portrayed by many
undergraduates. In fact Bill gates was an excellent one. He
had a perfect 1590 out of 1600 in his SAT.

As for Mark, he has been an excellent programmer right
from childhood. As a young lad, his father employed a
private tutor to take him in programming. Mark was an
excellent student from his high school-a frequent academic
prize scooper at Ardsley and Philips Exeter high school-
through to his Harvard days. As a matter of fact, Mark was
well recognized as a programming prodigy at Harvard. Mark
dropped out of Harvard after successfully marketing the
Facebook-majorly through Peter Thiel investment. My
questions are, how many of our undergraduates have built or
are building their own business to warrant the petty accolade associated with the degree today? How many have ever signed a big money deal with big firms such as the oil and telecommunication industries? I will say none. Why compare yourselves with limited resources and skills to far away people who worked hard to succeed financially as
undergraduates? Why belittle the importance of degree? I’m not advocating that a good degree automatically guarantees you financial or professional success, but that it does open the door of opportunities for you at least as a job seeker.

As far as I know, the best prizes and scholarships
from individuals, alumni associations, big firms, school
authorities etc. always go to students who are academically
excellent or at least are good enough. Why don’t you work
very hard for a good degree at least to build a fortress for
yourself against all form of disadvantages associated with
poor degrees? It is a common believe that skill(s) is not
directly proportional to the class of degree. This of course is
true but arguable. With my little experience, I can say that
most graduates with good class of degree are also equipped with the necessary skills in their various fields. So, I am against the notion that most of the graduates with lower
class of degree are better equipped skillfully than graduates
with good class of degree. But let’s assume that all
graduates with lower degrees are more skillful than those of
good degrees, what is the benefit of one being skillful but
not opportune to showcase his skills? In todays’ Nigeria,
most vacancies require for degree classes not lower than a
second class- mostly upper. What is the use of a skillful
individual with a middling or poor degree who can’t even
apply for his loved profession talk less of being called for
interview to showcase his skill(s)?

In conclusion, I know for sure that good degrees do not
hand you the tittle of the richest man in the world, the best
inventor, the best writer, a world renowned speaker, the best
artist etc. But that all the people associated with these titles
are hardworking people who refuse to swim in the pool of
their shortcomings. I believe that if Nigerian undergraduates
give their all to their studies, the lowest graduate should
come out with at least a second class lower degree which I
believe is a good enough class of degree- at least average.
Most undergraduates should do away with the idea that
degree is not that important because the degree is a
reflection of at least four years of your life depending on your
course of study.

Investment / Re: Home Ownership Is Mostly A Bad Investment- Expert Says by aybabz101: 6:31am On Nov 15, 2019
maybe he meant home ownership in Lagos Island is a bad investment......coz all I can reference his assertion to are only the upper class and the upper middle class Nigerians.

This is the worst advise for the average Nigerian since most of the population is struggling to meet ends needs. Now imagine paying school fees, rent, transportation, bills every month on a salary of let's say 70k, it's going to be hectic. But with this salary in a small town in 9ja and with a good cooperative society ( who gives out non interest loans) I can get one plot of land at d outskirt of a major town and develop.

Moreover, House ownership is more of a cultural ritual in 9ja. Families struggle very hard to build houses so that they can be associated with it and it is a thing of pride to them (ie, they are in there homes, no landlord or landlady can come and harass them anyhow). It gives families a sense of ownership and security.

Even in foreign countries, house ownership is a thing that most of them want to achieve and they throw big parties involving families and friends when this is achieved.

I totally disagree with Dr. Tayo. Even with the rate of inflation around d world, properties and lands are d only assets apart from gold dat I know of that there values are in most cases always increasing. This means that the prices of house rent will always increase and not the d other way round (if the quality of the home is maintained or improved upon?)

FTC for the first time!......whaooo

This road has been in bad shape since time immemorial especially the Ondo state axis. Ondo state government refused the proposal for the joint renovation of this road by the then governor of Ekiti state Ayo Fayose; now they want to effect toll gate on this road.

Erection of toll gate on this road will not guarantee the maintenance and the standard of the road bcoz d revenue generated will b squandered by these unscrupulous individuals as we all know.

Erection of the toll gate will put strain on commuters because the union of drivers will increase d transport fare which is already outrageous at #800 for a journey less than an hour.

The Federal Government should take responsibility for what they are constituted to do and not try to dodge it every now and then. They are responsible to maintain inter state roads and billions of naira are allocated every year to do this. They should sit up and do their fucking job. Just check d federal roads in d country especially the SE and u will know these ppl are just crooks swimming in d pool of corruption.

fraud and sharp practices are now a motto to the Nigerian populace these days especially the youths. They believe in the make it quick attitude, that's is why most of our youths are involved in cyber crimes, frauds etc. and those who can't break the law are involved in gambling and ponzi schemes; very few youths are not involved in the aforementioned. This present situation scares me a lot as it makes it very difficult to trust anybody.

These organizations makes fraud more attractive to their employees by underpaying these employees and leaving most of them on contract basis for years without prospects of furthering their career. They in turn looks for the appropriate opportunity to defraud the bank and her customers to satisfy their own needs.

I known thieves will always be thieves regardless of how well they are treated, but these financial institutions needs to do d needful so they can have a reduction in these alarmingly rate of fraud.

KngGezy:

Not everyone wants to default. At times we may have a sure window of repaying a debt as at the time of obtaining the loan. Suddenly such window of servicing the loan closes or becomes unavailable maybe because of natural disasters, theft , scam, etc. All these happen and are more common in MSMEs . Even if you insure, We are Nigeria that insurance can decide to litigate instead of paying up for the loss. All these can make one default in payment. So if this happens and temporarily you are unable to pay the loan. Then all that is left is the remaining capital with which you plan to startup something in a business account. Then a small balance for family upkeep in another account. Then the Bank suddenly takes all the money in the accounts. Leaving the promising entrepreneur high and dry devoid of any hope and collateral.

I may be wrong

Its not like that. Before a Nigerian bank can give out loan to businesses or an entrepreneur, such business or person must be established and there must be a minimum period of relationship between the Bank and the customer.

Banks don't just give out loans just like that.....let me say most banks don't give loans to startups. The only organization that give out loans to startups is the government through bank of industry- and this process requires a lot of business plan writeup and even so, the business must have been established up to a certain level.

Also, UBA does this through the Tony elemelu foundation and of course, ur business has to be established.
