Ironically it is seasoned hunters that are most likely to shoot a person by mistake, and here is the reason why. Of course, he failed but his ambition didn't die. He returned to the PDP which he helped founded and bidded his time again. When he noticed that then President - Dr. Goodluck Jonathan - was going to seek re-election in 2015 contrary to an alleged unwritten agreement that he would only contest once & hand over power back to the north, this desperate politician jumped ship once again and aligned with others to give the PDP it's biggest "fuçk you" till date.

He contested the presidential primaries of the party he jumped to hoping to clinch its ticket but yet again, he failed.

Realizing his ambition to become president would be dead and buried should he remain in the party where he jumped to (Atiku knew power was supposed to rotate to the South after the Buhari Presidency hence he needed another platform to realize his lifelong dream of being President) this man began to portray himself as a lover of Nigerians preparatory to his move to again jump back to the PDP & contest its presidential primaries in the build up to 2019 general elections.

Again, he was defeated.

This time & for the longest time in his political career, he stayed back in the PDP. Then, Buhari's tenure ended and it was time for power to rotate to the South but this same man, who joined other political prostitutes to chorus "power rotation" in the build-up to 2015 general elections, made an about turn saying power rotation is alien to our constitution.

He contested the Presidential primaries of the PDP for the umpteenth time & could've lost woefully (inspite of all the humongous money he spent on delegates and the Iyorchia Ayu-led NWC) to Nyesom Wike but for the 11th hour political betrayal of another slippery political snake, Aminu Tambuwal.

Realizing the political dexterity, popularity & financial muscle of his closest opponent - Wike - that came to the fore at the primaries, this same man carried himself to the then Rivers Governor's residence to offer him a joint ticket but for reasons best known to him, he made an about turn again & chose someone else.

That was the final straw that broke the proverbial camel's back & PDP has never been the same since then.

Therefore, if PDP must get its mojo back, it must first of all confine Atiku to the dustbin of its history and then clear the Augean stable thereafter.

Anything other than that and PDP will become a footnote in Nigeria's Democratic story.

All hopes looked lost for Nigeria after the pass of the baton for the last lap but Ogunmakinju put on a show, running what could be aptly described as the race of her life as she steadily and speedily closed the 20-metre deficit created in the 3rd lap with the just 30m to the finish line to bring the GOLD medal home in a time of 3:13.26!
