Lol. The GOC 302 Artillery Regiment, State CP & SSS Director will unfortunately approve this request; they'll receive payments in form of "logistics" from the man & deploy these operatives under highly vulnerable conditions. While the man will be driving in a bulletproof automobile with his closest family, the security operatives will be riding in light skin vehicles that expose them to danger in case of attacks. |
Aquila99:Segun Abraham & Prof. Ajayi Boroffice are washed up. Jimoh Ibrahim maybe a joker in this political game or another dark horse. |
Aquila99:Do you know if they're from the same Zone as Aiyedatiwa? |
blaise26abj:Okay. |
bhella10:Like you said, it's based on what he does with the little time left. I wish Ondo people well. May God also help Aiyedatiwa make the right decisions at all times. |
LordAdam16:Apt! May I also add that this current IGP seems to me a lily livered man; someone incapable of having his own convictions & standing by them. |
Nigeria's entire security architecture is a huge joke & those heading them are a bunch of clowns. Any PEP or high networth individual in need of police escort should be made to transport their escorts in bulletproof vehicles as well instead of exposing them to die like chickens; this madness has got to stop! If we keep allowing our security agents to die like this we're only further weakening our ability as a nation to respond to internal threats. |
bjnice:On the contrary Sir, the Constitution has been amended to make it impossible for a Governor or President to take the oath of office more than two times. I think it was amended and passed into law either under the 8th or 9th National Assembly. https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/new-law-stops-vp-who-completes-presidents-tenure-from-contesting-twice/%3famp |
bhella10:I hope so too. In all this, Ondo people are the pawns in this entire chess game because whether we accept it or not, Aiyedatiwa is more focused on how he'll get APC's ticket to contest next year's guber polls & win. |
bjnice:Yes, you're right. A friend of mine from Ondo actually confirmed this - that Aiyedatiwa's zone is the next to produce the next governor of the State. If that's the case, I believe the people from the Zone would prefer their person to do 8yrs (4yrs x 2 terms) as against 6yrs or even 5½ yrs if Aiyedatiwa gets it. According to the Constitution, he has taken oath of office now to complete Akeredolu's term, if he beats the odds to win the next governorship polls, he can't contest again after that. |
MeGood91:Lol, I don't think it'll be difficult. Obaseki had colleagues & a President who was sympathetic to his cause besides, he was almost done with his first term. On the contrary, Aiyedatiwa doesn't have a President who's sympathetic to his cause & if his "eku orire" remark gets to be seen by his colleague governors, I doubt anyone of them would be sympathetic with him. Furthermore, Ondo guber polls are holding next year, he'll not have enough time to build up a support base/structure within that time frame. If he seeks to decamp to PDP (which is an option should APC indicate they'll deny him their ticket, which I believe that's what would happen), what happens to the very strong, loyal & eager politicians in PDP who were just bidding their time? It'll be interesting months ahead in Ondo State, politically speaking. |
Knowing APC as currently held by the jugular by PBAT & his loyal stooge, Ganduje, this is the best deal Aiyedatiwa will get; completing Akeredolu's tenure only! Someone else will fly the flag for the party in the governorship polls for Ondo next year. |
Got on the train (AKTS) for free today. The whole process was organized - from NRC to train passengers (at least, this was what I observed from the Idu Station where I began my journey). However, I noticed there were still some empty seats on the train even after more passengers got on the train from Kubwa. For instance, the seat next to mine was unoccupied. Meanwhile, can the train operators "reduce" the AC on that route? There's no time I use the train that the coldness of the coaches isn't a general concern; not just me. Overall, it was a pleasant ride. |
It seems David Oyelowo is now finally gaining the global recognition he deserved for a long time. If ever I/anyone was in doubt of his acting prowess, "Lawmen: Bass Reeves" certain cleared all doubts. Man ate that role & left nothing, not even crumbs. |
We're fast losing a generation of legendary thespians. May his soul RIP and God grant his family the fortitude to bear their loss. |
Got my own ticket (AKRS) early hours of this morning. However, I suspect a network glitch which occurred while trying to secure a seat on the train, led to me getting two tickets (two different seats numbers). During the course of securing the seat online, the system timed out & logged me out. I tried again & after several minutes of waiting, I got a successful response. It appears the first one which timed out was actually ticketed but I didn't know that until I checked the app this morning to see I've got two tickets. |
I felt pity for Diezani Alison-Madueke just reading her ordeal; I was almost moved to tears but then I remembered that the former Petroleum Minister like many other public officials before & after her, looted - and still looting - our commonwealth to the point of near bankruptcy. So, while I give God the glory on her behalf that she's now born again & ready to confess her "sins" against Nigeria & its people, she should just remain in the U.K where the judiciary will promptly dispense her case & return a guilty verdict unlike Nigeria where the case may drag on till eternity yet, she will live large: driving around with heavy police convoy & probably even join APC. On a more personal note, I pray she lives long inspite of her cancer & experience the genuine peace of God (now that she's born again) that surpasses all understanding. |
Very beautiful work done by the contractors & kudos to the state government. Looks like the playing surface is synthetic, not natural grass. |
Many of the current crop of Hausa-Fulani girls (especially those fine ones) have one hidden "skoin-skoin" or the other that only comes to the fore when their husbands cheat on them or when the "love" between them goes cold. It's even worse when the lady never truly loved or knew the guy properly before she was wedded to him. A friend of mine from Kano State doing very well for himself was bathed in hot water by his "wife" while he was sleeping. The part of his body that suffered scalding (from his waist down) suggests she wanted to render him impotent not kill him. The wife - very pretty lady by the way - was a very young girl as at the time (she was still in university) this incident happened. |
I'm confused; it appears to be true that Nigerians have a comprehension problem. I read that news report once & I immediately understood what the CBN said so when I read comments that suggest the report was ambiguous, I wonder if I read something else. Anyways, the summary is CBN has unbanned Cryptocurrency/virtual assets. It, however, maintained its stance that Banks & other financial institutions cannot use depositors funds to buy or trade crypto or other virtual assets. Individuals & businesses involved in cryptocurrency trading can now legally channel their fiat currencies through the banks without any fear of their accounts being closed. |
Is it possible he's on set & simply wearing a costume? Hakeem Effects does this very well; turning dark skinned actors to "albinos" or light skinned characters. |
Spot on. Low purchasing power is the key challenge. Gerrard59: |
It's easy for you to interpret every denouncement of Chief Nyesom Wike as an attack on PBAT but you won't accept it if someone powerful also tries to impose themself on Tinubu & his administration. If fPMB we're doing to PBAT was Wike is doing to Fubara, I'm certain you won't be supporting Buhari. While no one is denying that Wike is among the top 5 most influential politicians in Nigeria today, ask him & his supporters what Gov. Fubara has done that warrants impeachment threats or making the state too hot for him to govern. Their problem is a political one that requires political solutions that doesn't include using the instrumentality of the state house of assembly (which has most of its members as Wike's loyalists/stooges) to commence impeachment proceedings against the governor. truthfinder319: |
Omo, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN) done age oo. Nice to see him still actively involved in his legal practice & winning landmark cases as well. God bless him. |
Unfortunately, Chief Nyesom Wike doesn't see it more as a blight on his own political image than on Gov. Fubara. Any keen & unbiased observer of the political drama playing out now in Rivers will be more sympathetic to Fubara than his predecessor because they know Wike as governor won't tolerate a pinch of what he's doing to the current governor; heck, then Gov. Wike had the entire political class in the state on a chokehold. His excesses were tolerated due to the enormous power and influence he wielded as governor; it was that same influence & power he used whenever his interest was threatened to cut Amaechi, Omehia, Peterside, Abe & others even within the PDP down to size. Except Fubara naturally doesn't want to engulf the state in a needless political war, he can also cut Wike down to size if he wishes to & heavens won't fall; only that in his estranged political godfather, he has a formidable, ruthless, unforgiving & extremely rich opponent to battle. In all, I hope Rivers people will call Wike's bluff & put him rightly where he belongs - the same place where he placed his predecessor & other dissenting voices against his administration then as governor. |
You're most likely right on MSQ using profit from their other locations to sustain their Uyo branch. You know, ShopRite were the initial anchor tenants in mind for the mall before they pulled out (likely after conducting due diligence & market survey) & MSQ came in; I still struggle to understand the business decision behind their choice of coming to Uyo. While they enjoy sales (profitablity is what I don't know), other business owners inside the mall are seriously struggling. As per De Choice, I think they've been able to maintain a firm grip on their market share; which still tracks back to my point earlier that most people who visit the mall go there for sight seeing more than shopping. It's also a "status" symbol/showoff kinda thing. Most of them would rather patronize De Choice, INELs or any other indigenously owned business for their basic shopping needs. Gerrard59: |
Gerrard59:There's what I would call "shopping" culture; it's prevalent in Lagos & Abuja that you mentioned but absent in some states. For instance, Market Square in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State (also known as Ibom Tropicana) may also face the same challenge in some few years to come if nothing drastic is done about the very poor shopping culture there; I know this because I used to run a multi-national retail business there. Most people who visit market square in Uyo come for sight-seeing & to take fancy photos. Outside Christmas, New Year, Easter & a few other public holidays where people troop in to the mall (don't forget that most of them only come to take photos or experience the escalator), any other day, the place has very very poor footfall. It's the same thing in Kano inspite of their very large population. Now, you may get some things in ShopRite cheaper than what you get in major markets in Abuja (don't know about Lagos as I rarely visit there or even know about their markets), but you see Kano? If ShopRite sells a particular item let's say for N100 in Abuja while Wuse or Utako or even Garki market sells same for let's say again, N85-N90, in Kano markets, that same item or a similar one (different brand) may be selling for N60-N75. You've major distributors in Kano's markets whose major concern is sales volume/faster turnover than actual profit making; some of them receive goods from the manufacturers to resell at distributorship price (if it normally takes 3 weeks for e.g to sell same goods in other places, they'd rather "crash" the price & sell off completely in a week, collect their "incentives" from the manufacturers, place another order & the cycle continues. It's a unique selling strategy common among some major distributors in Kano markets; this, I believe is a major factor that attracts many traders from neighboring countries to Kano to purchase goods. That's what I mean. I would love to go into many more instances of Kano's unique markets & their pricing structures but time won't permit me. Modified: the highlighted on your response? They don't come for shopping in ShopRite, they come for massive bulk purchases from the many large markets in Kano (Singer, Kantin-Kwori, Yankura, Rimi etc). |
SP Akpabio has been known (not sure if it began after he came Chairman of the NASS or way before) to close associates to be sedated before he can sleep; it's said that due to the lack of sleep, he suffers exhaustion frequently than most. I wish him recovery. |
Anyone who knows the Ado Bayero Mall in Kano & the below average patronage it receives from Kano residents and visitors alike, would've known that this day would eventually come. Have you seen the number of hugely successful, highly patronized & affordable markets in Kano State? Markets that attract visitors from neighboring countries such as Niger, Chad, etc apart from pastries, frozen foods, sea food & junk food, there's nothing ShopRite sells that you wont find in most of these big markets in Kano & at far cheaper rates than what obtains inside the mall. Nonetheless, I feel for those who are about to become unemployed due to this business decision by ShopRite; I wish them best of luck for the future. |
Fine photos. Lovely sights. |
Train drivers or came to drink Maltina? I wish them an accident-free December operation & beyond. |
Oshiomhole didn't lie; the HM enjoys the comfort provided by BOI building; a decision I learnt isn't sitting well with her ministry officials because files have to be moving between BOI & old federal secretariat in Garki where the FMITI is situated. |
