I will advise him to honorably resign not because i think he is not good enough for Nigeria (havent seen one who is good anyway) but so he could take care of his health. He doesnt need the stress involved in running a country like Nigeria with his health condition. If he is not the president no one will care if he spends a year in hospital but now stupidly because of politics he would be looking for a way of getting up d hospital bed use his agbada to cover his ill health and continue with d stress.

I wish him and other Nigerians on sick bed or on sick mat (bad enough some cant afford bed despite their ill health) quick recovery.

Under What Condition Do You Think It Is Justifiable To Lie To Your Dearest Wife?

When saying the truth will break the marriage, if u are not asked dont talk about it let it just die except in a situation you know she will find out about it.

'Sorry dear, it wasnt my fault it was my friend that made me sleep with a lady during my last business trip/during my holiday in UK' - This kind of telling d truth when u were not asked will kill and bury trust forever. Even though i am not in anyway encouraging infidelity or lies, i will say when saying the truth will destroy your home dont say it, pray to God to 4give you and desist.

He cheated on you yes idiot! but then how many of them guys are clean? he was only unfurtunate that the other lady was clever enough, boyfriend, fiance, husbands cheat on daily basis but once it doesnt result in pregnancy its coo? I can see some strong feeling from both sides with what you said. Look, that a man cheated (which of course is bad, unGodly and unfair) that does not mean he did not love his g/f or spouse forget about the talk about the guys sleeping with someone because he did not love you. You yourself can say if he loves you or not and when did having a babay for a man makes her his wife?
I'm a jealous type and i am not sure i can stand such rubbish but then if you think you can (judging by what u said which shows u still love d guy) if u thing u can forgive him and continue with him please do if not go ahead and look elsewhere but be sure you really want to go into another relationship o, you may meet a 'saint' who would never have and will never sleep with another woman in his entire life.
I have seen this happen before to a friend's brother everyone knew he was engaged but this stupid came in the picture somehow the girl got pregnant and felt she has gotten the guy from the supposed fiancee, the fiancee refused to leave stayed by her man, the stupid girl had the baby in her father's house and the two love-birds got married left the idiot with shame having to take care of a baby without father head. Luck shone on them they won US lottery and they are together now for about 15 years with 3 kids, they still send money for the upkeep of the child anyway.

So follow yr heart.

im not muddling it up,what im saying is that if we can afford to have quality healthcare and free health for all,why not??
free healthcare would hamper needed investments IF we do not have the financial wherewithal to make it happen, thats why i gave the example of congo and how they gave a portion of their mineral deposit to china to mine in return for them buildn hospitals, roads and other infrastructures to match the worth of the minerals after logistics is taken out of the total,
in that situation we do not even need to spend a single naira but give them a couple of oil blocs, if generals, politicians, obas and others can have several oil blocs, then a serious president who is desirous of creating a first class healthcare delivery will have no problem giving oil blocs in exchange for world class medical institutions situated in all the major regions of nigeria,
do you realise there are reports that even governore odili who was just a 2 time governor has a standard hospital in southafrica bought with ill gotten money and we r here talking about a whole country where all of them steal from,

Well, i live in a country where d system works n i got FREE medical care until i started working.

@ topic
It wont happen in our time, the resource is not unavailable or how do u explain local govt not remitting trillions of naira, nnpc etc? can those not take care of such? The issue is those guys @ d healm of affais prefer to spend what can provide free health care for 100 Nigerians on just one of them to travel abroad for medical care eg how many ppl will the amount spent on Yaradua on each of his frequent trips abroad provide free care for? The country will pay for d flight, accomodation, feeding, shopping, of himself, his aides, his wife n kids, his whatever n then the hospital bill.

Good idea for the unemployed n those on low income but it wont happen in Nigeria at least not anytime soon.

President Umaru Yar’Adua has undergone successfully a serious surgery suspected to be kidney related ailment in a Saudi Arabia hospital where he has been receiving treatment for days now, Saturday Vanguard can authoritatively reveal.
President Umaru Yar’Adua, who has been officially reported to be on lesser hajj in Mecca is in King

President Umaru Yar’AduaFahd hospital in Saudi Arabia. In fact, reliable sources confirmed to Saturday Vanguard last night that the president underwent, serious renal transplantation and has been under intensive care. But his condition is said to be very stable.

King Fahd's hospital where he underwent the surgery, only some close members of his nuclear family, his wife, daughter, two physicians and security aides are allowed access to him.

The president whose health has been of public concern had gone to Mecca for lesser hajj and was expected back in Nigeria before departing to Brazil on a state visit. The visit has since been re-scheduled and the advance team recalled back home.

The Federal Executive Council had on Wednesday refuted rumours that President Umaru Yar’Adua was currently indisposed at a Saudi Arabia hospital.

Reacting to reports after its meeting in the council chambers of the State House, the FEC said the president was still engaged with the lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia, and would return whenever he concluded the programme.

Insinuations that Yar’Adua was indisposed, followed his trip to Saudi Arabia last week shortly after approving the appointment of new service chiefs.

His spokesman, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi had announced that the trip was to enable the President perform the lesser hajj.

Speaking on the cancelled trip to Brazil, Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, denied that he had anything to do with his health saying the President is on lesser hajj.

Asked about the planned trip to Brazil, Maduekwe said, “I am her now on state matters.

“What does this mean?”, he was asked, “state matters mean that things are adjusted and readjusted.

When newsmen drew his attention to the reports that the trip had been cancelled, Maduekwe said it is not cancelled. It is first readjusted. He said the new date for the trip was being sorted out between the two governments.

An attempt to get the reaction of the Presidential spokeman, Mr Segun Adeniyi, failed as he refused to take several calls made to him yesterday evening.

BusinessRental Business - How Profitable? by ayomifull(op): 2:56pm On Aug 26, 2008
I loved this business while i was back home, probably because i had an uncle in Abeokuta, Ogun State who was into it and made good money within about 10 months and i have always wanted to go into it as well until i left the country. Its been a while now but i till have it on mind and still wish to go into it  but because it has been a while i left and dont really know how it is now i just want to know if people who have an idea of this business thinks it is still profitable and if there are specific areas one can best do it. If this business is still what i thought i really would love to partner (can provide the capital) with anyone i can trust.

Guys do you think this business of rental is still profitable? I mean chairs, tables, tents etc.

I understand how you feel and how many questions are going through your mind. When one gets to a certain age and Mr Right isnt anywhere to be found you start thinking of your age, menopause, younger ones with kids and all that but i strongly do not believe its a right thing to do except one is prepared to kuku remain a single parent. How do one go about it? Just get anyman irrespective of who to impregnate you just so you could have children? Do you think of raising children you are not able to tell who their father is or children who would not be accepted by the supposed father? Think about the problems of raising kids alone not just alone but without a man to take responsibility for them, also think of your emotions as well. What about when the right man comes and the problem will now be the presence of children from other unknown mem?

For every woman i do believe there is a man, just have faith, keep praying, be patience and God will bring your own man who will father your children and give you and the children the love and care you need. Though not the best but i think its better to be married to a married man who is up to the task of polygamy than just get any man who is not willing to have kids by you to get you pregnant just so you could have kids while 'waiting'

Just my own thinking though and may not be the best idea.

Some of those people also ran away from their countries in those days and only returned when the country got better. My landlord (Irish) told me himself he and his friends ran to American from Ireland in those days and only returned when Ireland became habitable and he brought the money he made to establish himself and because his country was not been governed by corrupt and selfish people like we have in Nigeria his business succeeded. So running away from unsuitable situation has been since time immemorial and not just peculiar to Nigerians alone. Who does not want to live in his/her country if what you can get elsewhere is available in his/her own country.

People came abroad in those days study and returned home on their own because the country was ok so let them ask why people now want to die abroad rather than come back home, if that can be answered and the reason addressed no one will be compelled b4 packing their bags.

Le Moor:
People should not be blamed for whatever decisions they make with regards to moving back to Nigeria.
It is a whole host of factors. Fact is, some people will move back, some wont. Some people are doing a lot better in the diaspora than they did when they were in Nigeria. And some people are doing a lot better in Niaja than they ever did whilst living in diaspora. Its all relative and different factors will drive those decisions, no matter how ill-informed the decisions will seem to the bystander

Fact - Life is hard everywhere (in Nigeria, UK or America
Fact - Not everyone in Nigeria has a good job.
Fact - Not everyone in diaspora is cleaning streets and working in a deadend job
Fact - Life is hard for an immigrant without the right papers (UK or us) is hard

Based on all this, everyone will make his decision to return/stay/leave Nigeria based one their personal circumstances. You will be amazed at how basic the average human needs are. If the average individual/graduate/worker (degree or no degree) can have at least a decent life, then I am sure people wont be sleeping at the embassies desperate to leave Nigeria. I personally do not believe everyone that leaves or attempts to leave hates the country, most just want a better life. The definition of what constitutes a better life is relative and then becomes subject to interpretation. I have a graduate friend from Nigeria who job hunted for 3yrs and couldn't get a job, he gets to the UK, and Thur sheer dint of hardwork, he has bought a house, is raising a family and sending money to his mom who is still being owed money for contracts done for her state govt. If you ask him, his definition of a better life is different and he has found it. While some would look down n the type of job he is doing, he rests on the fact that the job at least pays his bills and gives him a minimum standard of life he couldn't afford back home.
On the flipside, i know bankers who have quit their jobs only to get to the UK and realise none would recognize their level of achievements and they have to downgrade to take jobs they wouldn't even do in naija.
My point is, it is all relative. There are people in Nigeria doing honest work and doing very well, but in the same vein their are people in diaspora doing very well.

It is hard to make a case to comeback to Nigeria, and use such dumb excuses that foreigners are reaping where Nigerians should be reaping
This excuse angers me because 1. Foreigners in Nigeria get better treatment than Nigerians
2. The Government doesn't have to wait for Nigerians in Diaspora to come and reap these benefits, you have more Nigerians at home than in diaspora, who can also benefit but are not benefiting. You have a handful of graduates who need jobs, who have brains and if given the same circumstances will outperform Nigerians in Diaspora, they should be given a chance.

A fully qualified doctor in the US can earn as much as 180 - $200k salary, as a freshly qualified resident. You Will be hard pressed to see someone like that come and look for a job in Nigeria, unless they are coming to setup their own practice.

There are IT professionals that earn 70-100dollars per hr depending on the specialization. Add that to the quality of life you would get, then a move back to naiaj might not be as alluring as it seems. Regardless of being offered 15million by banks in Nigeria.

Like lepashandy noted, I also know people who have moved back to Nigeria to take up good lucrative positions, but in that same breath, i know people who have returned again after taking those initial decision.

Personally, I hate the term diasporan and i think it is dubious and separatist. As for me, I would love to move back to Nigeria, but I am not ready yet. Will i do so sometime in the future? probably, when I am less dependent on others on more dependent on myself to provide my daily bread,

All I will ask the governors and co, asking people to move back home is, why is it that the 1st mission most politicians embark on once they get into government is to buy houses in diaspora and have the children leave the country to school, if they really believed so much in the system,
Good one there man!

Christianity EtcOta Ejects Pregnant Women, Infants For Oro by ayomifull(op): 3:29pm On Aug 20, 2008
Posted To The Web: Monday, August 18, 2008 - By Moyo Fabiyi

Hundreds of pregnant women and infants below the ages of one and three months, have been ejected from the industrial town of Ota in Ogun State.

They were asked to leave the ancient town for their various states like Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, etc. in observance of the Ogbodogi festival, a version of the popular, but dreaded Oro festival in the town.

There are conflicting reports about how long the annual festival would last. While some said it would last three weeks, others said it would last up to three months.

P.M.News learnt that the festival started last weekend, and there will be curfew from mid-night to about 4 a.m., each day throughout the period.

Pregnant women and infants were strictly warned to leave the town during the period of the festival. In a chat with the Moslem leader in the town, Alfa Abdulraheem Ola Ajifenwa, he stated that the festival had been modernised, adding that in the past it used to last for three months.

He further said that he did not foresee a clash between the traditionalists and Moslems in the town during the Ramadan, for the festival will last till the Muslim fasting period, for about two days.

Said he: “The traditionalists have a lot of respect for Islam because the Olota of Ota, Oba Moshood Alani Oyede, is himself a Muslim.”

P.M.News further learnt that the monarch used his influence to reduce the duration of the festival. Pastor John Okiki, who also spoke with P.M.News, revealed that many of the landlords in the town have put their houses under lock and key pending the conclusion of the festival.

Okiki explained that those travelling to their states are those who don’t have relations or friends to put up with in neighbouring towns like Ipaja, Agege, Abule Egba, etc.

As at the time of filing this report, the king was said to be unavailable to comment on the festival. But his secretary, Mrs. Busirat Lawal, said P.M.News can call tomorrow morning, to speak with the Oba.

Nigeria is looking for loan to the tune of billions of Naira from the world bank to spend on electricity, teachers had to fight endlessly to have a little increase in their pay and our dear unhonorables just spent this much purchasing cars.
What baffles me is what is the need for such. Few months ago i was in the legislative quarters where these guys lives and i spent a few days, i was able to move round and i saw no house with less than 3 cars. Why must these guys feel they are free to enrich themselves and care less about the people that voted them in? I still wonder why Nigerians still vote in elections instead of sitting in their houses afterall they aint going to serve anyone and worst still the votes dont really count they only install themselves. hope we'll wake from our sleep one day sha.

The House of Representa- tives yesterday defen- ded contract for the pur-chase of 360 units of Peugeot 406 cars at the cost of N2.3bn.RepAbdulrahman Suleiman Kawu, Deputy Minority leader and Rep Akindahusi Titilayo Melodia former chairman Hou-se Services Committee said the House at its executive session in December approved the purchase and no member of the House had handled the pur-chase.

Rep Akindahusi told Daily Trust on telephone the House in an executive session appro-ved the purchase but that it was the management of the National Assembly that handled the payment.
“If they said something is wrong with the purchase, you can ask the management of the National Assembly. No member in the House handles the pur-chase, we sat in the executive session and approved the pur-chase and Peugeot Automobile of Nigeria supplied the vehicles. “For details about the car purchase you can ask the mana-gement of the National Assem-bly”, she added.

Also Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Abdulrahman Suleiman Kawu said the decision to buy ope-rational vehicles for committees was taken at an executive session of the whole House and was not the decision of the lea-dership or any of its principal offi-cers alone.

Kawu said following the de-cision of the executive session of the whole House, it was unanimously resolved that the leadership should hands-off all negotiation for, and purchase of the said vehicles and allow the management of the House to handle it.

A newspaper report on Sun-day said there were grey areas in the contract.
