hinwazaka: The courts interpret the constitution and use of it. The DSS need to obey the dictates of the constitution according to the courts. A judge gave them a warrant according to his own intepretation of the constitution. This doesn't mean its the entire judicary's stance on it And the constitution says the DSS can investigate any crime/person it deems to be against the interest of National security. |

It is clearly stated on d site that the DSS has no jurisdictional limitations as they are allowed by LAW to get involved in any case that they deem a security threat jst like the FBI of the US and that puts an end to the OPs submissions and evry other argument on this specifically! The OP and his crew are against the President, so they would lie and do all sorts to rubbish this administration. Its just a pity some ignorant fellow would swallow their lies. |

hinwazaka: Wrong, it should be according to the courts. What they had was a hunch. And also, its not the entire DSS that would have been behind this, just Mr Lawal Daura. Afterall Mr Dasuki was a staff of the DSS a week prior to the saga. Why wasn't he a threat then The courts are not greater than the constitution. The DSS doesn't need to approach a court to commence an investigation. Remember they went to Dasuki's house with a warrant. Why did the judge/magistrate sign the warrant if the DSS didn't have jurisdiction? |

Do you have any idea that even the EFCC and ICPC restrains themselves to their individual mandate? Have you seen the EFCc perform the role of Code of Conduct? So what is your point exactly? That section of Economic crimes that may affect National Security has to do with cases where looted funds are traced to be used in sponsoring terrorism or treason. Do you get that? Try robbing the office of the DSS and see who comes after you. |

Mogidi: Maybe you got me wrong, my complaint is that the DSS left their primary role of intelligence gathering. The article on page one details their obsession to please the incumbent at Aso rock rather than concentrate on the fight against terrorism. You'd agree, storming PDP offices and working as parallel EFCC officials is tantamount to giving boko haram unhindered access to bomb at will, boko haram has benefited from the resulting chaos. No i don't agree. Its not like the DSS has only 10 officers. |

hinwazaka: I guess you didn't read Olisa Metuh's reaction against it and I guess you didn't see a move by disgruntled employees to align with the opposition through a body infiltrated by the opposition to get back at the individual company as funny. Also the PDP affair is basically a move by the PDP to clean house and get rid of family members of defectors, who are still loyal to their benefactors. Believed to be a threat to national security, according to whom, that is the argument. Dasuki was not seen as a threat a weak before his retirement. But became one, the day his successor took over According to the DSS. The law gives them the right to do that. Oh by the way, it is one day Shekau became a threat to National security, the same way it would take Dasuki a day to become a threat. |

barcanista: So it also the responsibility of DSS to investigate robbery? This is why I am saying that some of you are pathetic. Who handled the assassination investigation of Funso Williams, Bola Ige andothers? Why didnt aggriveved ApC SINators tell the DSS to investigate the alleged forgery of Senate rules? You see why I always say some of you are the problems of Nigeria? Do you even have any clue on the role of DSS, NIA and DMI? That some clowns petition DSS to investigate a job that is within the powers of EFCC, ICPC and Police does not justify DSS' impunity. Also the DSS went there to "maintain law and order" which is clearly the mandate of Police.
Fyi: DsS is not alternative police nor a superior one. If the DSS feels the robbery is a threat to national security, it is there responsibility to investigate it. They have blanket powers within Nigeria. All they have to do is to come up with a reason no matter how stupid and they are covered by the law. c) Such other responsibilities affecting internal security within Nigeria as the National Assembly or the President: as the case may be:may deem necessaryThe bold part is from the DSS website, note the part that says "as the case may deem necessary". |

zicoraads: My point exactly. I am all for truth and accountability. If Dasuki has been found to have diverted monies meant for weapons and allowances of our soldiers, by all means haul him to Guatanamo Bay if possible. If the DSS had showed receipts and evidence of transactions that pointed to the fact that he used those monies for personal gain, I will sing their praises to the heavens.
When the news broke, and a friend of mine was screaming witch hunt, I told the friend to relax, that the DSS might be trying to get account of how we budgeted trillions for defence and our soldiers are still complaining of weapons and salaries.
And then I saw bullet proof cars being paraded...I hissed! Permit or not, if bullet proof cars are the reason they went after him, as they want us to believe, then am afraid they have nothing on him. Dasuki is a prince, he has money. He made a lot of money during IBB's regime. The man can afford hundred of those cars. The DSS went with a search warrant, if Dasuki had cooperated, nobody would have known anything. The press conference was just to keep people from talking. Dasuki as a former military man ans NSA is very well informed about the workings of the DSS, there are so many things behind the scenes that the DSS and Dasuki are not saying. |

My point here is, and let us be sincere, do you honestly and sincerely think the DSS went in primarily for those cars? 1. Isn't it ironic that what the DSS claimed to have went in for suddenly changed? Why didn't they tell the whole world the 'National Security' issues that necessitated the search? Was the search about bullet proof cars or national security issues as was claimed? The bullet proof cars was the most insane cover up ever, and as usual, the gullible ones fell for it hook, line and sinker. I am still waiting for the DSS to provide evidence of the national security issues that warranted storming Dasuki's residence, until then, it was a clear case of witch hunt. Ownership of bullet proof cars does not equate to threatening national security. Even kids of the super rich drive those cars in Abuja. You do know you need a special permit to use a bullet proof car in Nigeria? |

hinwazaka: Investigation if financial crimes is solely the responsibility if the EFCC and ICPC. Discovery of foreign currencies does not translate to sponsoring of terrorism activities. There are so many people in Nigeria who can and are directly or indirectly hampering state security, not just Dasuki alone. Security is a complex subject so therefore the DSS should not singularize it Like I said the failure of the DSS came in its inability to identify the Boko Haram "after" it had become a terrorist organization, not before. In fact it was the over indulgence and overzealous antics of the police that began the menace. Its late founder was wrongly arrested, read up in it No, the EFCC is not the only body charged with investigating financial crimes. Even the police has a fraud unit. By law, the DSS is empowered to investigate any crime that can compromise the internal security of the country. |

hinwazaka: Did you just say every crime including financial crimes can compromise national security. So what then was EFCC and also ICPC created for. The emergence of Boko Haram was primarily the fault of the DSS and defence ministry who failed to notice their transformation from a religious pressure group into a terrorist organization. Prior to their upgrade they were not the concern of the DSS, but rather were within the jurisdiction of the police. The proper thing that should have been done in the Dasuki affair would have been to handover any materials that show evidence of financial impropriety to the EFCC, and act only on those that constitute a threat to national security. From the look of things it appears they have bungled the case and so have resulted to cheap blackmail and character assassination. Boko haram is funded somehow and that is a financial crime. Should that be left to the EFCC? Dasuki was the NSA, if there is one person who can compromise the internal security of the country its him. Security is a complex subject and the margins are thin. Like you said, the DSS ignored boko haram and the country is paying the price. Don't you think its time they start being pro active? |

Mr Bacanista you should really spend your time getting an education as your ignorance is mind boggling.
Every crime (yes even common stealing) can compromise the internal security of the country. Boko haram did not start out as a terrorist organisation but may if the DSS had been proactive then, they won't have metamorphosed into what they are now.
So if the DSS feels anybody action is a threat to national security, its their job to act. You don't have to like they don't give a fu.k
Free education for you and your fellow ignoramus There are several factors that can compromise the the national security of a country 1. Socio-Political Stability 2. Territorial Integrity 3. Economic Solidarity and Strength 4. Religious intolerance 5. Cultural Cohesiveness
Everyone of those "crimes" you listed falls under on of this categories. |

kodded: the gas is like the fuel needed to power on the dam and the force of water in the dam is what is generating power Bros small small Gas is used in stations with Gas turbines (most power stations in the south of Nigeria are gas fired) while water is used in hydro power stations. As for the answer to the OP's question, improving infrastructure and more investments are the reason. If you want to "praise" somebody, then praise the Federal government of Nigeria. Its not a GEJ or a PMB thing but that of sustained policy of the Federal Government. *****Note before the PDP and APC agents eat me up, 1) OBJ paid for the new power plants but forgot about the gas pipelines 2) GEJ completed the power stations and built the gas pipelines (GAS master plan) 3) So far Buhari hasn't cancelled GEJ's road map so for now we can assume he will continue with it. |
