Christianity EtcRe: David Oyedepo's Story by Azibalua(f): 8:18pm On May 18, 2011
To answer your question, I think the planes are used to satify Oyedepo's ego, and an unecessary show of wealth in a country or continent ravaged by poverty and disease.
Sorry I missed this
The reason you can think this way is because you have allowed all sorts of information into your mind.
What ego is he satisfying? What show of wealth?
He has a large auditorium recognised in the world where people come to hear the good news.he has a plane not used just to visit countries but to spread this gospel in various countries, is this a show of wealth?
In a country ravaged by poverty what do you think the solution is?
It is not in giving money to the masses but rather in the preaching of the gospel.

Luke 4:18
18 The Spirit of the Lord[ is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised

The word of god has saving and penetrating power, and is capable of all sorts.,

Hebrews 4:12
12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double- edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

even if we sell the planes and give the monies to the beggars on the street, beautiful but I can tell you that in a short while they will go back to begging because that was just a placebo ,the real problem is spiritual and can only be handled thru gods word

Why is it so difficult to believe something as simple as this.
Christianity EtcRe: David Oyedepo's Story by Azibalua(f): 7:43pm On May 18, 2011
It's like saying we do not need church buildings in the country because of it's economic state,we should rather use the money on welfare
No, to every thing there is a time and season
The plane is a necessity not a luxury, even if it were a luxury is it wrong? No,
Aside from helping members of his congregation, he does this too for non members, but this is not even his primary responsibility, his primary responsibility is to equip the saints for the work of ministry.

You are yet to say what you think the plane is used for.

Thank you Zikky, for that post.

NOBODY runs down "GIVING". It is "tithing" as a LAW that we say is wrong under the dispensation of Grace. But to hide the vacuity of his position, pastor lies to make them seem to be the same thing.

THEY ARE NOT.

1. Giving is based on FREEWILL personal decisions and on the desire to help (an attribute of Love) someone else willingly out of your possessions
2. Tithing is based on manipulated scripture & meant to force people to open their wallets enriching today's institutionalized religious institutions

Please allow him to exhaust his options - readers are not daft so they can see better and better as he "preaches" Satan's messages.

By the way, a personal decision to give a "tithe" of possessions is perfectly fine
Tithing has nothing to do with the law
Once you can understand this you will stop fighting a lost battle

Oyedepo is a goat head. He took 30 million $ from poor, and use it to buy a private jet,
A man of god buys planes and we can easily jump to the conclusion that he took the money from the poor. If they are poor where did they get the money to give to him,
I think we should be more concerned about the fact that these planes are used for missionary work instead of being used by unbelievers to transfer all manners of wrong goods

Hmmm
Nepios. No sorry umbel.
It's not strange to know that perversion of the gospel abounds
First of all tithing sowing of seeds e.t.c have nothing to do with the law ,it's a principle that overrides any dispensation,it's for the prosperity of the individual.
And really everyone needs to know that the tithe we pay does not go to the pastors pocket,a true minister of god must pay his tithe as well, for he is first a Christian and lives by faith.

Christianity EtcRe: Love The Church by Azibalua(f): 6:34pm On May 13, 2011
Jo, maybe it's due to the issue of trust or confidence in the church leadership. It's the leadership that get hit most times. Since they believe only Jesus can rebuke them (afterall members are suppose to submit), members have no choice but to use public forums like this
As a Christian if you have issues with the leadership of your local assembly,it's better you go to the pastor and talk with him, not tell him what to do, but if you can't submit there it's best you move on to some other place.
Using forums like this to castigate men of god is wrong and should not be encouraged, it's destructive

@ Mabel,
Truth is not simple at all for the bom boi
Check this out

[3] Jesus took Sin upon Himself - He did NOT become Sin!
2 Corinthians 5:21
21 For our sake He made Christ[ virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become[ a endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God[ what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].
Christianity EtcRe: When Did The Apostles Become Born Again? by Azibalua(f): 3:17pm On May 06, 2011
Romans 5:19
19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Adams disobedience caused man to be spiritually separated from god, it took the obedience of Jesus to suffer death on the cross for all men to be saved
Knowing he had a right to choose what to do he still chose the cross.
It was not possible for anyone to be saved without this obedience being fulfilled
Christianity EtcRe: Should You Break Up With Your Boyfriend After Giving Your Life To Christ? by Azibalua(f): 2:57pm On May 03, 2011
tpia@:
It depends.

If he's going to hinder your faith, then you might have to. If he were your husband then that's different.

Men typically have no problem breaking up with their girlfriends when in a similar situation. Its usually the women who hesitate and dilly dally when they're the ones making the decision.

In a way, its understandable due to the scarcity of good men, but at the same time you have to avoid what could lead you astray.

Another question is: how old are you. Not meant to be offensive, but if you're say over 33 then you might have to stick

with your boyfriend unless you have a very strong mind.

Anyway, pray over it before making a decision.

Pray by yourself that is.
Even if you are over forty and intend to get married the right thing for you will be to stick to the word of god, you should not have an unbeliever as a choice for a life partner. This is not right. And also a lady does not give herself to a man it's wrong,
God knows what's best for you and it's all scripted in the word, why not get to the word and find out what it says , also get to the pastor of your local assembly he will elighten you more.

Also the idea that men are scarce is definitely not true, people get married every day to godly men.
Where are they comming from? The moon?
Definitely not
Christianity EtcRe: Should You Break Up With Your Boyfriend After Giving Your Life To Christ? by Azibalua(f): 2:51pm On May 03, 2011
For you to ask this I assume your boy friend is not born again

Okay then I think you should run for your life considering that of you go ahead with the relationship and then eventually marry this guy you will be making the devil your father in law.

The reason being that immediately you gave your heart to christ you became a new person born of godly seed, this too will happen to your boyfriend if he gives his heart to christ, As Christians we cannot have such relations anymore with unbelievers

2 Corinthians 6:14-17
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

My sister, the scripture cannot be
broken or contradict itself. So my advice to you is to read the book of deut.22:5 and ask God to interprete it in your heart.Untill you have personal encounter with God on that issue it will settle every question in your heart.
Also believe for pastor because he's the mouthpiece of God when on the pulpit.
I suggest you read the whole of deut 22 am sure you would suddenly wonder about what to put on considering the fact that you are not supposed to mix two different fabrics together

If he does send someone, that person goes in his name and so all the accolades due the president will be accorded to whoever was sent
The same with the name of jesus,we don't pray to god thru him but in his name meaning we have every right he has and we are accorded every privilege he has,we take his place. We stand in his stead simple

If your so called MOGs like oyaks did not make themselves unduly popular by focusing all the attention on themselves instead of christ they would not feel the need for protection in the first instance. Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie for instance heads a church that is by far bigger than all these your yeye penterascal churches with membership in the millions yet you would not see him moving around with security. Infact the man humbly sits in the front sit with the driver without even one single aid following him about in the so called guise of protocol. This same attitude is true for the head of the Nigerian baptist convention that has over 10,000 branches nationwide. Yet you would never hear his name in the press or get assaulted by seeing his picture in every branch like oyaks picture regularly offends us. A true man of God is supposed to be humble unlike your proud arrogant, designer suit loving, vain, money grabbing, bible twisting self anointed charlatans who claim to be men of God yet deny him by their actions.
And yet there are security men at these various churches,
This has nothing to do with men of god it's more of a choice issue
If you don't want it fine,
But remember that there is no structure be it security or otherwise that is new to god almighty

Colossians 1:16-17
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether[ they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Christianity EtcRe: Pastors And Body Guards. by Azibalua(f): 8:20am On Apr 26, 2011
Ok why did Jesus not encourage peter to continue with the sword if actually He needed them to secure Him?
Instead He taught him that he who lives by the sword dies by the sword.
Luke 22:35-51
35 Then Jesus asked them,"When I sent you out to preach the Good News and you were without money, duffle bag, or
extra clothing, how did you get along?""Fine,"they replied.
36"But now,"he said,"take a duffle bag if you have one and your money. And if you don't have a sword, better sell your
clothes and buy one! 37 For the time has come for this prophecy about me to come true:` He will be condemned as a
criminal!'Yes, everything written about me by the prophets will come true."

Anticipating evil or so you would say, at this time he asked them to procure swords

38"Master,"they replied,"we have two swords among us.""Enough!"he said.
39 Then, accompanied by the disciples, he left the upstairs room and went as usual to the Mount of Olives. 40 There he
told them,"Pray God that you will not be overcome by temptation."
41- He walked away, perhaps a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed this prayer:"Father, if you are willing, please
take away this cup of horror from me. But I want your will, not mine."43 Then an angel from heaven appeared and
strengthened him,
44 for he was in such agony of spirit that he broke into a sweat of blood, with great drops falling to the ground as he prayed more and more earnestly. 45 At last he stood up again and returned to the disciples-- only to find them asleep, exhausted from grief. 46"Asleep!"he said."Get up! Pray God that you will not fall when you are tempted.

47 But even as he said this, a mob approached, led by Judas, one of his twelve disciples. Judas walked over to Jesus and
kissed him on the cheek in friendly greeting. 48 But Jesus said,"Judas, how can you do this-- betray the Messiah with a kiss?"
49 When the other disciples saw what was about to happen, they exclaimed,"Master, shall we fight? We brought along
the swords!"

Interesting they could remind him of the real function of the sword he asked them to buy
Why do you think he ask them to buy swords, was it to make them function in their culture more? Definitely not

50 And one of them slashed at the high priest's servant and cut off his right ear.
51 But Jesus said,"Don't resist anymore."And he touched the place where the man's ear had been and restored it.

At this point it was time to be taken and  he had been strengthened and so there was no point resisting the arrest, but at the time he knew it was not yet his time to be taken, he figured out a way of escape.

You wrote
Jesus called them to be fishers
of men and not bouncers and security men as u claimed.
So why did the disciple feel the need to use the sword to cut off the ear of the soldier,
Was it not a sense of security and protection .

Grey Beard:
^^ Yes, you are absolutely right!

It is a choice for mogs to enjoy private jets obtained from monies from their congregations some of whom cannot afford 3 square meals in a day.

It is a choice for them to emotionally coerce their congregations into regularly buying their books and dvds and bring in yet more money for them.

It is a choice for them to build universities with money obtained from their congregations most of whom cannot afford to send their children there.
It is a choice to build businesses - also from congregation money and plough the profits back into the church without the original sponsors (the congregations) seeing a kobo from that profit.

It is also a choice to charge people for "gate entry" into special services.

It is a choice for them to charge different amounts of money for different kinds of prayers.

It is a choice to preach to the poor, desperate and vulnerable that in order to come out of their condition, the only choice that they have in God's eyes is to part with money.
It is a choice to preach that you can successfully serve God and Mommon.

And of course it is a choice to use bodyguards.

However, this thread isn't about choices. It is about opinions. Opinons on whether those choices are RIGHT or WRONG. It is about justifying these opinions and that is why I asked you earlier if you had anything extra to add to the thread since the "diciples where Jesus' bodyguard" argument has been blown out of the water.
Your opinions are always biased,
