You gave your email address for one-on-one contact. I was wondering if I should quote my sort code and account number when I write to you grin grin grin. It was meant to be a joke though. But if you asked me, I would say scamming is taking over the brain on our young guys. The prevalence of this epidemic is worrisome. Too bad!
PoliticsRe: Re: Atiku Vs Obj/efcc In The Ptdf Scandal by azorjiu(m): 2:12pm On Dec 21, 2006
I don't believe that throughout his tenure, Mr. Obj did not 'pick-pocket' from the national honey-pot. He must have stolen something knowing or unknowing.

I also don't believe Mr. Atiku's testimony completely. What do you expect from a drowning man? Sink to the bottom without holding unto an object? NO!!! Obj might be Atiku's object. His intentions are bold and clear. Naturally, he is desperately trying to sink with the President, who is the cause of his many woes.

We may never know the truth after all. Whereas Atiku will be trying to cast aspersions on the person of Mr. Obasanjo, he (Obj) will in turn be preoccupied with ruining what is left of the integrity of Mr. Atiku.

Our arguments on this issue will be based on assumptions and sentiments. We will never never the truth.

PoliticsRe: Yar'Adua: President In Waiting? by azorjiu(m): 12:08am On Dec 19, 2006
By the way, let's all give Yar' Adua and Goodluck our support.

I suggest Duke for Minister of culture and tourism.
Ribadu, Soludo, El Rufai and Akunyili should stay put in their respective assignments.
Okonjo Iweala should be called back and the finance ministry handed over to her.
IBB should be sent to jail without further delay.

Mr President should flease work on his accent. I could only hear "Jonathan Goodluck" when he announced his running mate.

cc: President Yar' Adua (under formation)

what's really happening?
what has Jonathan got to give?
why do we have to use him and yar' adua as guinea pigs,
when there are people like duke who have been tested and certified?
i'm becoming uninterested in this political nonsense.

It seems that Obasanjo has settled on a Yar-adua & Uba tkt.The former has a dodgy kidney the latter dodgy financial shenanigans
http://odili.net/news/source/2006/dec/15/801.html
In a short while from now, we will know the state of things. Let's not be too quick to make conclusions. I, for one, don't trust news on THE SUN. It is a twin tabloid of the The Sun (UK) here which writes on nothing else but immigration, calling all immigrants illegals, focusing on the polish and the so-called benefit fraud.

It is a common knowledge that Yar' Adua is the most likely successor of Obj. The Sun didn't reveal that to us. But for Uba to be his runnning mate, mbanu, no, it is a SUN lie. Their source is questionable. I read the news yesterday and I didn't believe a bit of it.
PoliticsRe: Prediction: Yaradua, Duke Ticket Combo by azorjiu(m): 12:30pm On Dec 10, 2006
I find the analysis in THISDAY interesting

http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=65345

Who is the man YAR' ADUA? I don't know this guy more than I know his name.
I hope he will make a good president as the pendulum is swinging towards his favour.

One thing I'm happy about is that Babangida came out for president. He will soon realize that he is not as maradonic as people take him. He is no longer relevant in the nigeria of today. His theorists will come to know that after all, Babangida is not invincible. He has blood and water running in his veins.

EFCC is after Odili and he may be in prison by next instead of Aso Rock. His chances are as slim as ever.

I don't care where the presidency goes in as much as nigeria belongs to all of us. If Yar' Adua can do the job well and he is confirmed as a prudent and non corrupt nigerian, I don't see the reason why he shouldn't be given the chance to rule. What we need now is consolidation of democratic gains.

I hope 2007 will brings smile to face of nigerians. I hope one day we will be able to beat our chest and say WE ARE NIGERIANS. I'm tired of our third world status.

May they not buy our votes again with salt, sugar and onions. We hope for a better 2007

I would ask him,

How come you think nigerians are fools?

Your only legacy is the institutionalisation of hard core corruption.

TravelRe: Nigerians Living The Dream Life Abroad by azorjiu(m): 9:35pm On Aug 06, 2006
Nigerians who are here in the UK without correct documentation find life difficult, if not very difficult. Unfortunately, these guys lives are made more difficult by nigerian employers. Here in london, Nigerians who own recruitment agencies prefer to use their nigerian "brothers" and pay them as low as 3 pound/hour. If you earn this amount, you will struggle and may never find your feet here. Worst still, many friends will send e-mails telling you that their fees have not been paid, their mobile phones got lost, their supervisors want them to buy sulfuric acid, or they want to have a secret abortion. Beware, find your feet before you start listening to the old litany.

Obasanjo is a chemeleon. He has many colours.

His 2007 intentions seem evil.
He has succeeded in making a mockery of himself and his government.

May be oby, El Rufai, Dora and Soludo should resign now before he dumps them as well.
He is known to use people before dumping them.

Okonjo's case is an example of how inhuman human beings can be.
He used her to secure debt relief and now, he believes she has to go because of her need to be close to her family. OBJ, this is a shame!
EducationRe: Why Not Consider Studying In Sweden? by azorjiu(m): 3:09pm On Jul 22, 2006
Segedoo,

Carefully study the sites of universities in sweden. You will find enough information regarding programmes offered by the individual universities. Below is the sites for the public health programmes of umea and lund universities.

EducationRe: Why Not Consider Studying In Sweden? by azorjiu(m): 9:36am On Jul 22, 2006
@walcot. Unfortunately, i'm not sure any swedish school offers a masters of architecture in english. I know the royal institute of technology in stockholm offers a 2 years masters programme in architecture, but it is solely in swedish. You may consider applying for architectural lighting design. it's only 60 ECT whereas masters of architecture in the same school is 180 credits. Read about the european credit transfer and accumulative credit system. Follow the link below if you want to apply for the 60 credits course. Application starts next month and end early february for courses starting august next year (confirm pls, i'm not very sure).

http://www.kth.se/eng/education/programmes/master_english/index.html

@ehiwere. Keep the spirit high, and you will achieve whatever you want to. I understand how lousy our institutions can be in terms of sending the transcripts of their students. It is an unfortunate situation. Your transcript is the most important document needed before being admitted to a masters programme. Talk to your department about it. I'm sure they can hurry it up. As I earlier said, the application period is between august and early february for courses starting august/september next year. I wish you luck with your nysc and transcript.

@Idekeson. Nice idea. Include Denmark and Finland in your expedition. Those blond, blue eyed, and slim girls are wonderfully cool grin
EducationRe: Why Not Consider Studying In Sweden? by azorjiu(m): 11:02pm On Jul 21, 2006
Most Nigerians find it hard to believe when we tell them how easy it is to study in Sweden. You  don't give anybody a dime for tuition fee, but you must provide for your accommodation and living expenses. You don't have to go through any agency to apply for admission or visa. All you have to do is to complete the institution's online forms, or a hard copy of the application forms. Decisions are made based on the pre-requisite to the programmes you wish to study. Once you meet the requirement, jump up, you are already in Sweden.

As soon of you get your admission letter, proceed to the Swedish embassy in asokoro, Abuja with 2 set of photocopies of all your results and the completed visa application form (on http://www.migrationsverket.se/english.jsp). Many people are rejected based on financial statement. You have to prove that you will have access to about 68,000. 00 Swedish kronor (one Swedish kronor = about 18 naira) for 10 months in a year. You don't pay for accommodation during the 2 months summer holiday. Sweden is such a beautiful country.

There are many Nigerians presently studying in Sweden, especially in Uppsala, Malmo and Linköping universities. Umea University offers so many Business Masters programmes suitable for graduates of social sciences.

Undergraduate courses are limited, but Umeå University, Darlana university and a few others offer programmes like international business programme. However, if you want to study other programmes at the undergraduate level, you will have to write and pass a swSwedishanguage test.

Recently, most universities now insist that students from west Africa submit waec scratch card. The transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institutions. It didn't use to be so until it was discovered that most transcripts and results emanating from Nigerian and Cameroon are fake.

I didn't know anybody when in applied to study in Sweden. I spent nights on the internet, checking out schools,  not scamming. I got my visa without stress and today, I have completed my masters degree in Sweden. Another advantage is that you can easy apply for visas to UK, or USA  for further studies if you have what it takes. I have done same and I'm  presently studying London.

@kolahinmi,
Luleå offers msc in civil and other engengineeringogrammes. follow the link below

http://www.ltu.se/eng/master_prog/master_programmes06.pdf

Getting a job as an international student in Sweden is a bit difficult. Sweden is a welfare country. It's citizens are extensively taken care of. Besides not paying for tuition, every sweSwedishudent recreceives to 6,500 kronor monthly. All EU and exchange students also  receive bursary award of about 2,000 kronor monthly.

In terms of job, it seems students who study in places like Stockholm and Gotherborg fare better. Most students in Malmo work in Denmark as the permit issued to students allow them access to other schengen countries. So as ashiwaju rightly said, why not consider studying in Sweden huh
EducationRe: The Best University In Nigeria? by azorjiu(m): 8:38pm On Jul 21, 2006
Frankly, I don't know the criteria some guys use to determine the best university in nigeria. It is not enough to pronounce a university the best just because you are an alumnus/alumna of the institution. Why not give some references to support your claims as few have right done?.

It is also a briliant idea to state the faculties where individual universities excels rather than labelling them as the best. For example UNN and UI have won the positions of the best Universities several times. However, the law faculties of these institutions failed to scale the last NUC accreditation. I finished from Jos and can tell you that Jos excels in Pharmacy, Architecture, theatre arts,, To me, that does not make unijos the best university in nigeria.

Let's not worry ourselves, nigerian universities are way back. The dearth of materials in these institutions is appalling. Books in the libraries are obsolete and lecturers are out modelled. In this computer age, our lecturers still wrestle with black boards, sticks and chalk. They lack access to academic journals as the institutions are not subscribed. Most of them are computer-phobic. You can't believe the proportion of nigerian professors that can't check their e-mails. They conjoin others peoples works and experiments to come up with a hybrid which they publish in local newspapers and awarded Ph.D.

A nigerian professor in one of the highly acclaimed universities (should i mention names?) sent a paper to the editors of an academic journal here. He sent the paper through my friends as he didn't know how to use the computer. The 3 - pages work he sent was sent back to him, but this time, 10 pages was sent. Over 7 pages corrections! He was told that the possibility of publishing his paper was 1/10, considering how incoherent it was. This is not to say that our academics are not briliant. No! They are good, but the world has advanced beyond where we are now. This is the 21st century.

We should discuss how to ensure that our universities can tranform back into institutions of higher learning instead of fighting over which is the best. We don't have any good one, much less the best.

A better indicator of enrolment over the years is on http://www.jambng.com/app_ume2001.php. Select the year on the down page and view the number of applicants. JAMB should update the details to 2005.
PoliticsRe: Mass Sack Looms In The Civil Service by azorjiu(m): 1:23am On Jul 14, 2006
The mass sack is a welcome development. Why should we have more drivers than cars in the federal civil service? Why should we have 85 years old men and women still working in the civil service? It's high time to got rid of the untrainable materials we have in our present civil service of today. We all want efficiency and results. We can't make any progress in this country unless decisions like this are made. Vibrant youths have to be absorbed into positions to redeem this disintegrating entity called nigeria.

EducationRe: Why Not Consider Studying In Sweden? by azorjiu(m): 9:56pm On Jul 08, 2006
@ashiwaju,

Some courses have english as the medium of instruction in Sweden. However, if you wish to study medicine or other competitive courses, you will be required to study and pass Swedish language for one year. Swedes are great in English. 85% of Swedes speak good english. I studied Chemistry in Nigeria, at undergrad level, but when I got there, I discovered we are no where. We don't have simple functional laboratory instruments in Nigeria. No reagents!

All Univerisites in Sweden are opening up to international students. But there is a possibility that tuition fee might be introduced soon, just as they did in Denmark recently. So hurry now!!!

Congrats on the great scores, guys.

Nigeria is really improving. We didn't scratch cards during our time. We used to crowd outside JAMB office gate in Umuahia for hours before fighting our way inside to copy our results. I wish you guys luck in securing a place.

With a score of 252, I was unable to get admitted into a course in Unijos. In the same university and for the same course, Kaduna State, Plateau State and Benue state had a cut-off mark of 209, 222 and 238 respectively. Quota system!
PoliticsRe: Igbo President: What Will Nigeria Turn Into? by azorjiu(m): 7:11pm On Jun 23, 2006
Who can tell me why an Igbo man can't be the president of nigeria if he/she can perform miracles in CBN, NAFDAC, due process, etc? There is no way we can rationalise the concept that an Igbo man can't rule in his country. It matters less to me who rules, as long as there is food on the table of every nigerian. These ethnic jingles neaseate. sad.
PoliticsRe: Should Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (Now Foreign Minister) Resign? by azorjiu(m): 5:23am On Jun 23, 2006
Omoge,

Ministers are appointed executives who work with the president. They are in charge of their respective ministries. How to apply and if a woman can? The answer to the latter is yes: you are prefectly qualified. Mode of application? Send your application, covering letter and CV to Atiku grin, he will nominate and probably appoint you to replace some of his sacked Aides.
PoliticsRe: Should Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (Now Foreign Minister) Resign? by azorjiu(m): 8:11pm On Jun 22, 2006
Obj's intent for re-shuffling his cabinet is very unclear. Okonjo is an asset in the financial ministry and her redeployment sends a negative signal. However, if the decision was taken in the best interest of nigeria and nigerians, so be it. May be, she is being groomed for a top position come 2007. We never can tell.
