PoliticsRe: Yaradua's Assets - N500 Million: Could It Be True? by azorjiu(m): 3:13pm On Mar 26, 2007
Did i just hear u say benefit of doubt?

Someone who would direct the affairs of our Nation Nigeria, Thats why peple are still suffering, simple because we don't choose the right leaders to dirrect the affairs of the country.

What if he turns out to be the most indolent Presidents we have ever had in the history?

Dont forget we would have to manage him for 4years, and at the end we begin to blame ourselves,

This is the time to check who would lead this country.

I am no party member. all i am saying is lets check who we are going to cast our vote for,

Thanks
Then vote atiku. I'm sure he's worth several million dollars. Leave the poor man alone. He says he is worth less than a billion naira so be it.

i tire for 9ja. would you rather he was worth 100 billion? he's indirectly declaring his assets and our judgment of him come 2011 will be based on this figure. why do we have to doubt this supposedly honest man? let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

I read the news.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6475809.stm

In as much as Atiku is indicted as well, I don't have any qualms with the report. What it means is that both atiku and obj will not contest next month presidential election for abuse of office. Atiku should stand out and face the consequences of his actions. To me, this report is not different from the last. The only difference is the use of the word "indicted" for the president.

Benue political clash claims 10 lives, 30 houses
No fewer than 10 persons are feared dead with over 30 houses razed across 10 villages in Buruku Local Council of Benue State, following a violent political clash between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and those of the Action Congress (AC) in the area. Trouble was said to have started in the evening of Sunday, when an argument ensued between supporters of both parties at a beer parlour in Sati village of Kusuv Council Ward over the senatorial contest involving the state governor, George Akume of PDP and Dr. Azeze Lim of AC for the Benue North West Senatorial District. This eventually led to the death of a youth supporter. As at 10pm on Sunday evening, 10 persons had died from attacks by the supporters of both parties. When The Guardian visited Buruku town, the headquarters of Buruku Council on Monday afternoon, hundreds of residents were seen fleeing the area with their properties. The displaced persons were mostly the aged, while more youths from the two feuding parties were being drafted to the area in buses. The state's Police Command Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, while confirming the incident, said seven persons have been arrested in connection with the crisis, adding that investigations into the mayhem have begun.

I even read 24 presidential candidates were qualified. The question is: who are these people? What is their intentions? lipsrsealed
They have populated against INEC, the scape goat who would bear their many post-election grudges.

Orji Uzor's best promise so far is that nigeria would win world cup under him as president. What a failure he portends.

In their preparedness for the general election, Orji Uzor scores 2%, Pat Utomi 49%, Buhari 52(1/2)%, Yar Adua 70%, who else is contesting? ok lets give them (others) 1%.

Let them leave Iwu alone. He is more prepared (seemingly) than the political parties based on what is evident as at today.

Some guys are talking rubbish here. The Tribunal of Inquiry Act empowers the president, Olusegun Obasanjo Aremu, to appoint El Rufai, Oby et al as members of the pannel. Any doubt? Then read

http://www.nigeria-law.org/Tribunals%20of%20Inquiry%20Act.htm

Atiku stands unqualified for election come April 2007. Nothing will happen afterwards. The heavens will not fall.

I wish they could make me INEC chair for a day. I will usurp the executive, judiciary, legislative, even the police functions. I would re-indict, arrest, prosecute and jail Atiku. I'm not very sure of what I would do to Obj though. Maybe a caution would do.
PoliticsRe: Is Inec Bigger Than Nigerian Law. by azorjiu(m): 10:30am On Mar 17, 2007
Disciplinarian my foot, Buhari among every other thing is scrambling for Atiku voters. Cheap desperation, to score cheap political points.

You can be more correct McKren. Pat and Buhari are playing on words.

It is unconstitutional and illegal for INEC to qualify Atiku. Iwu will go to jail if goes against the provisions of the constitution. He is only doing what is constitutional.
PoliticsRe: Inec Finally Disqualified Atiku : Your Honest Opinion by azorjiu(m): 10:16am On Mar 17, 2007
My honest opinion? INEC was dead right in disqualifying atiku and the heavens won't fall. Fire will burn awhile and cauldron will bubble. At the end Atiku will still stand disqualified. The constitution is explicit on this.

He should challenge his disqualification in court (but i fear him. it looks as if he controls the judiciary). What we are saying here is that if Tafa Balogun picks the PPP ticket today, he should be allowed to allowed to contest. What is then the essence of verification if INEC can not use the provision of the constitution to disqualify crooks from running?

Allowing people like Atiku who control the media, the judiciary and the legislature to run for an election, hoping that the electorate will decide is dangerous. Stopping him constitutionally is the only option and that's what INEC has just done.

We’ll win World Cup with me as President — Kalu

AS politicians continue to inundate Nigerians with ‘sweet nonsense’ promises in their bid to get to the seat of power, Progressive People’s Alliance Presidential candidate, Orji Uzor Kalu says he is the only candidate that has an agenda for Nigerian Sports. He also vowed to lead Nigeria to capture the most glamorous sporting trophy in the World, the World Cup that would be staged in South Africa in 2010.

“I’ve promised Nigerians that Nigeria will be the first African country to win the World Cup if I become their next President. I know the politics of sports and I know the people who run sports and I know the administration of sports”, Governor Kalu said in our Corporate office in Kirikiri on Tuesday.

“When I was elected Governor of Abia, I promised that I would break the jinx of no Nigerian Club winning the Champions Cup. I did it with Enyimba and went a step further to retain it back to back.

It is not easy. It takes one who knows and has the interest of sports to achieve results. It is even bad that Nigeria is not hosting the World Cup. Nigeria should show example as the giant of Africa but nonetheless, the Eagles would bring the trophy home for Nigerians with me as their President”, Kalu who is also the Pillar of Sports in Nigeria emphasised. He said that he would draft President Olusegun Obasanjo to receive the World Cup from former President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela.

“I’ll make President Obasanjo the envoy to receive the World Cup from Africa’s legend Mandela. It’ll be from Mandela to OBJ and he will bring the Cup to Nigeria”, Governor Kalu noted.

He was asked if he had a sports agenda for Nigeria in his manifesto and he fired back. “I am the only Presidential candidate that has a sports agenda. I am a young man who loves sports and I know the game and can interact with the players and athletes of this country. No other candidate has anything for sports.

Sports has remained a veritable ground and a political tool which many countries have employed. We’ll take our rightful position in sports in Africa and the world once I become the President of Nigeria”, the Governor said .

Atiku injured, flown to London
By Simon Ekpe, John Alechenu and Musikilu Mojeed
Published: Monday, 12 Mar 2007

Vice-President Atiku Abubakar was on Sunday injured while having an exercise in a gymnasium at his residence in Abuja.

ounger brother. I immediately wished him well and wished him safe recovery. We thank God he Our correspondents gathered that the vice-president had gone to the gymnasium at about 12.10pm, after a breakfast stock-taking meeting with his campaign strategists.

It was learnt that midway into the exercise, Abubakar tripped on one of the machines he was using.

A source, who spoke in confidence with one of our correspondents, said, “The VP had dislocation on his knee and it became instantly difficult for him to walk.

“First Aid treatment was initially given to him but when the impact of the dislocation was much, his doctor was immediately invited to attend to him.

“By 4pm, the knee had swelled up and he could not manage himself again.

“He was advised to go abroad for treatment.

“He is likely to leave Abuja in the night (Sunday) for London, where a hospital has been contacted to attend to him.”

The source added that President Olusegun Obasanjo, who was briefed on the VP’s condition, approved that he should be flown abroad in a presidential jet.

“The Presidency decided that Abubakar should be flown to the London and he (Obasanjo) will take charge of everything on his health as the nation’s number two leader.

“The issue of the Vice-President’s health transcends any political intrigue. We are giving the vice-president his constitutional due.”

In a chat with one of our correspondents on the telephone at about 8pm, the vice-president confirmed that he was travelling abroad for treatment.

Abubakar said, ”I broke my knee tendon. I was doing my normal exercise in my gym. You know I told you I was going for an x-ray. The result came out and we realised that I had broken my knee tendon.

”I will need a 30-minute surgery but unfortunately they can‘t handle it here. It is a pity that they can‘t handle it here. So, I arranged for an aircraft to take me to London for the operation. I will leave later this night. But the President has been gracious enough to give me an aircraft. He has released my aircraft to me.

”So, Insha Allah, I will leave tonight and arrive London tomorrow (Monday) morning and immediately proceed to the hospital for the operation. I hope to be back on Tuesday or Wednesday to resume my campaign.”

Asked of the extent of the injury, he said, ”It is not a big deal. Do not let anybody deceive you that it is something serious.

“You saw me this afternoon and now you are speaking with me. You can see for yourself that there is nothing seriously wrong with me.

“I have asked the Director-General of our campaign organisation to join you so I will go and have my x-ray. Otherwise, it is no big deal, it is not another Umoru Yar‘ Adua’s case.
