I too am worried about the way things are going.
America don't have the right whatsover to interefere in our internal affairs.
They must be laughing their ass out when Atiku was making his requests.

And as for Obj, why did he send Kayode to the US last time?
To explain why our government take certain decison?

Men, we have to stop this America worship.
They themselves are not out of the woods.
Simple Iraq, they can not win in a war.
And you want them to come over here to solve our problems?

I like Mugabe as much as I hate him.
If he was tackling the problems of his people, I would have called him a hero.
If he wasn't dictatorial, he would have been a saint.
Take away his military tendencies and I will adore him.

We need a president and a vice who will respect our sovereignty.
Not hero worshippers.

PoliticsRe: The Position Of The Media by azorjiu(m): 5:02pm On Jan 18, 2007
That is the function of the media. What do you want them to do? Praise Obasanjo? No! The media is always inclined to the opposition. By so doing, the ruling party will realise they have to stand up and work/walk

Jokes EtcPilot's Intercom Error by azorjiu(op): 11:47pm On Jan 11, 2007
A jumbo jet is coming in to land when the pilot says on the intercom:" This is captain speaking. We're on our final descent. I want to thank you for flying with us today and I hope you enjoyed your stay".

But he forgets to switch off the intercom. Now the whole plane can hear his conversation from the cockpit.

The co-pilot says to the captain, "Well skipper, what are you going to do in town tonight?"
"Well," he replies, "First I'm going to check into the hotel and have a beer in the bar. Then I'm going take that new stewardess out for dinner- you know, the one with the great legs- and take her back to my room for an all-night session."

The new stewardess is so embarrassed that she runs from the back of the plane to try and get to the cockpit before he says any more. Halfway down the aisle, she trips over an old lady's bag and falls over.

The old lady leans over and says, "No need to run, dear. He's going to have a beer first."

some are scared of coming back home because their visa are expired: they over-stayed and are afraid of immigration, but not nigerian immigration. once they fly out, they can't fly in
PoliticsRe: Was The 1993 Election Annulled Or Cancelled? by azorjiu(m): 9:32pm On Jan 11, 2007
from answers.com

ANNUL

1. To make or declare void or invalid, as a marriage or a law; nullify.
2. To obliterate the effect or existence of: “The significance of the past . . . is annulled in idle gusts of electronic massacre” (Alexander Cockburn).

To put an end to, especially formally and with authority: abolish, abrogate, annihilate, cancel, invalidate, negate, nullify, set aside, vitiate, void. Law extinguish. See continue/stop/pause
CANCEL

1. To cross out with lines or other markings. See synonyms at erase.
2. To annul or invalidate, etc
I listened to the interview granted IBB and he was talking bull****. When did he become a grammarian to tell us when to use annul and when not to? He should sit down and die.

He said that "to annul" means that "there was never an election".
But "to cancel" means "there was an election but it was cancelled".
He better tell that to the kindergarten

Chei chineke, this man is saying that Ladoja does not "to allow others share in his booty"
He is saying that he single-handedly selected 12 out of 15 commissioners in Oyo State.

Obasanjo to Commission a Power Plant Per Month
From Josephine Lohor in Abuja, 01.10.2007

President Olusegun Obasanjo is to commission one power plant each month in the remaining five months of his administration which would begin in February, with the Geregu Power Plant in Kogi State.
Speaking during the Presidential Stakeholders Forum on the Economy yesterday, the Obasanjo regretted that although he had earlier promised to begin such commissioning this month, the Omotosho Power Plant would be commissioned in March, while that of Papalanto in Ogun State is slated for April. He also set an April 1, 2006 date for the take-off of the introduction of ethanol in fuel in the country.
While disclosing that the next meeting of stakeholders on the economy will hold April 5, the President emphasised that the meeting would look at where we started, where we are, where we want to be by 2010 2015. We will even want to take it to 2020.
He also noted that the Federal Government is anchoring the reforms in such a way that they will not be a flash in the pan. They will be sustained, added that we are getting things right in agriculture, health, telecommunication, banking and power where for over 10 years before we came, there was not a cent in investment in power. That is 10 years of nothing in that sector.
Reacting to a comment on the level of smuggling in the country, Obasanjo stated that, from all records, the Customs are doing their best. But at times, Garri pass water for them. But they are doing their best. Unfortunately, what is being smuggled is so annoyingly irrelevant; used tyres, etc. I do not know.
Minister of Finance, Nenadi Usman, who made a presentation at the Stakeholders forum, described the 2007 budget as that which represents renewed and strengthened commitment to move Nigeria forward.
She said expectations for 2007 is that inflation will remain stable at 9 per cent, and accelerated growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) that will be driven by the non-oil sector, improvement in human capital and reduction and eradication of poverty.
The Minister noted that there has been a lot of positive development in the Nigerian economy.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Chukwuma Soludo, had while making his presentation disclosed that the high levels of poverty is a normal phenomenon in the northern part of the country with States like Jigawa where 95 per cent of the people live in poverty and Adamawa where 72 per cent live in poverty.
Although governors of most of the States in the North did not attend the economic forum when Soludo reeled out the figures, he however advised State governors to explore the possibility of borrowing on behalf of their States and then giving out same to farmers.
He made a GDP projection of 7.87 per cent provided the general elections are peaceful, reforms are sustained, macro-economic stability continues and agriculture strives, amongst others.
In her submission, the Chairman of the National Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Ms. Ifueko Omoigui, who noted that since 1961 no tax laws have been passed in the country while presently there are nine bills before the National Assembly for passage into law, called on all organisations to pay their taxes as and when due to ensure a sustainable future.
If you are not taxing allowances, you are acting against the law. Please go ahead and do your proper taxes now before we get to your organisation. As long as the law exists, you are bound to comply with the law completely. Please support tax reforms in order to build a more sustainable future, she said.
PoliticsRe: Yar'Adua: President In Waiting? by azorjiu(m): 4:18pm On Jan 10, 2007
funny the way people denigrate others. why call Yar' Adua slowpoke and similar names?
Is the guy not a nigerian? Is he not qualified to run? When did good health become a criteria to qualify for election in nigeria?

I don't know much about the guy. What we should do is try to dig up more facts about his person. If we don't like him, the best we can do is vote against him instead of attacking his person and health. God is the giver of good health. Who amongst us can beat his chest today and say he is too healthy? God comprehends our anatomy more than we do.

I was amazed when Blair said yesterday that saddam's "crime does not excuse his execution and his execution does not excuse his crime".

Wao, they all forgot human right and waited until after his execution to tell us how terrible it was.

Saddam was a living devil we all accept, but the manner he was executed remains completely unacceptable.
PoliticsRe: Kano State Has The Highest Population In Nigeria? by azorjiu(m): 3:53pm On Jan 10, 2007
It is a known fact that elections, census, etc are rigged in Nigeria.

What surprises me is how the result was inflated in the Kano without a corresponding trend in Lagos. Hmmmm, it's time we learnt our lessons.

Voters registration is being updated at present. I hope Southerner are registering now. Let nobody complain when we start getting outrageous figures from the north.

The census was designed to fail any way. Thank God tribe and religion were excluded. We would have been told that the north is 100 million and the south 40 million.

Who are we to reject the result? Our governors have accepted it put. We can't explain it by saying that Kano is populated by 6 million traders from the south; the bulk of them coming from Onitsha
